This was my comment on Reddit about the signing at Rolling Stone Records. I was happy he shared his side of the story, they were almost 2 hours late to show up for the signing and then we found out that story about the police. I met 2 of my closest friends to this day in line waiting at that instore signing on top of it all. One who ended up standing up in my wedding. A crazy memory i'll never forget haha! Long live the Knot!!!
@@Unknown-sk7hf I figured one of 2 things when i posted the question, it would get buried in the thread or get bumped super high hahaha. I have some other wild stories from the 1999 Slipknot era too. Maybe more will get shared at a later time :)
11:14 Corey told me something similar when I asked for advice at a signing in 2013. He said, "so long as everything you do comes from in here, nothing you do will ever be wrong."
I find myself sympathizing with the job of law enforcement. One minute you’re stopping a heist and the next you’re working for the thieves at their concert
has Corey written a book on his life yet?? if not, he really should.. I'm sure he has some pretty cool tour/band stories to tell.. sick video rock feed!! 🤟🤮🤟
7 deadly sins, you're making me hate you, funny thing happened on the way to heaven are 3 books he's written. You're making me hate you is basically one big, long-winded rant and it's pretty funny at times. 7 deadly sins is a look at the traditional deadly sins, and why they aren't so bad on their own but instead just human nature. And funny thing is a bunch of paranormal stuff that Corey researched and investigated, it's the only one I haven't read but the other 2 are great
He's written a few by now, got to meet him during the book signing of 7 Deadly Sins, gave him a portrait I drew of him and he was really impressed... I will never forget how I impressed my idol with my art
Rolling Stones Record store is in Norridge, a suburb outside Chicago and I think I may know what jewelry store he is referring to. I grew up in that town for 18 years. It is a town where everyone knows everyone and what everyone is doing. I even remember when Ozzy came to town and how crazy the media was.
Yo....I remember when this happened. Paul Grey hung out at our house in Wichita Ks, it was called the Elkhartian house, it was a house that a few guys from my home town bought for when ppl from Elkhart Ks would go to Wichita to party, that way they had a place to crash. Paul ended up coming to our house and partying with us after their show and told us this story. I've talked about it in the past on other channels so I'm glad they spoke about this because ppl didn't believe me. Paul was a really chill dude and I wish I had kept in touch with him before he passed.
Just one more day until I’m rocking out at Aftershock. I go every year and it’s epic levels of fun. Hope to see you guys there. I’ll have lots of joints so just ask me if you find me.
That’s awesome! I live like 10 minutes from Rolling Stone in Norridge, IL. They were definitely just south of the store because the record store borders Chicago and Norridge. That’s hilarious that CPD rolled up on them 🤣🤣🤣
Social media sucks for music. It ruined people's ability to appreciate a whole album. They just buy the singles or stream it and the artists get barely anything from streaming. If you truly love a band and want to support them then buy their complete album either digital or physical. Also Social media completely destroyed any kind of mystery surrounding bands. There couldn't be another Slipknot (i mean their early days) where no one knew who they were or anything about them. The mythology that used to grow around a really good band is just dead and gone because of it. Now you can find every sordid little detail about a band and its members and imo thats not really a good thing. As far as Corey's new mask I think it needs dreds or at least some kind of hair poking through the top. On its own its a cool mask but I really wish they would go back to DIY masks. At some point manufactured masks start to look too campy and you run the risk of looking more like Mushroom Head and I think Mushroom heads masks are corny. The new album is decent. Imo its their weakest. I still like it but it feels unfinished imo. It feels like they didn't do enough perfecting the songs this time. Also as much as I've always disliked the Stone Sour comparisons I have to admit that there's at least 3 songs on this that sound both musically and vocally like they'd be more at home on HOGAB pts 1 and 2. Personally I love HOGAB from Stone Sour but I didn't buyba Stone Sour album. Corey always found a way on previous albums to make his singing sound different than his efforts on SS but starting with Critical Darling on WANYK and continuing with songs such as Heirloom etc on TESF its really hard not to make the comparison. I've got no problem with Slipknot doing melodic or ballots, I love songs like Prelude 3.0 and Circle and The One That Kills The Least etc but it always sounded like Slipknot. Anyway I'm being very Critical on this Darling but its because I'm a huge Slipknot fan and have been since the Self Titled album dropped in 99 and while I've always come to love every album they've done I've also always been very honest about how I feel about them.
Most bands make little to nothing from album sells. The record label profits from album sales. The best way to support any band is to go to their shows and buy their merch. Corey and other members of Slipknot have already confirmed that they make no money from their albums
Holy shit I remember this, there used to be so many great bands that came to rolling stones for signings and pictures. The place is shadow of its former glory now
Funny how times have changed in Chicago, even if there's any Police left on patrol they certainly won't waste their time trying to prevent a crime that will go unpunished.
I had to stop. “It pays to fight like a giraffe.” 🤣 I can’t stop laughing. Idky but I hear Corey saying this jokingly, while seeing giraffes fighting as slipknot is playing and head banging. Ik I’m crazy and sick for laughing but imagine Psychosocial playing, they’re playing, head banging, screaming and you see on big screen of giraffes fighting! I’d be like wtf is this!? Why we watching the discovery/wildlife channel during a slipknot concert 🤣 Edit: I enjoy wildlife. Just thinking of these 2 n how it’s said made me think of it in a goofy way.
What kind of sane, rational person would simply "mind their own business" after seeing a bunch of guys dressing up in jumpsuits and masks near a jewellery store?
I don't know why Muse is on this tour. They just don't fit. Its nothing against the band itself even though I'm not a fan of Muse. They just don't belong on this tour imo.
I remember when big shows were 1 day and had 10 really kickass bands. Now you get 4 days and the same 10 kickass bands but 45 other bands you just don't care about.
Corey, do you remember when you decided to voice your political opinions and some of your best fans turned away from Slipknot and never looked back? No? Neither do we
Well I blame clown or the manager of the band whoever was leading the boys at that time... The old Slipknot suits look like freaking jail suits... To have 12 guys changing into jail suits, in a van right behind a jewelry store. Well, ....lol.... How about going to a Wendy's parking lot.....lol
