What colour would you get? Zanzibar Brown?
Be sensible!
Galaxy Blue. It stands out without being loud, but I don't know if it's available with the RS e-tron GT. I've only seen it on the regular e-tron.

I really don't understand the current fascination with black paint and black wheels. You lose the detail with black.

To bad Audi didnt let you really choose the colour you wanted. Zanzibarbrown would have been insane, thought about, doin it on my RS3 too, its Sandbeige now 😅
Strange that Mat can configure all his Audis in green colour with brown interior.....
They have over 8mil subscribers.. and Mat alone has an impressive social media audience. So of course they do everything to please him

Its easier to sell a BRG Audi R8 with brown top cover and brown interior then a brown color cause it only appeal to a very niche crowd and one or two wrong spec could ruin the entire car specs.

Here's my gripe with Audi. They offer much more flexibility with equipment in other regions but here in the UK they short change us. Surely offering everywhere the same equipment will allow them to improve efficiency as well as reduce cost on the assembly line. Prime example is they offer the prestige pack in US for the q8 E-Tron, why not in the UK?

@@mrmuds8624 exactly same with BMW and Porsche they offer the same equipment on all their cars regardless of what region you buy it. The German Audi vehicles have WAY more options than the UK ones. The fact that they don’t offer all equipment in the UK market is a downside compared to its competitors, and thats why I would consider its competitors instead.
@@mrmuds8624 because you guys aren't apart of the EU. Don't forget there are some laws that are different for us than for the UK and other places. For example, we can have a higher level of autonomous driving compared to the UK. Canada misses out on entire models due to some of its law. So yeah, having separated from the EU had an effect in countless aspects.
@@Average_Bruh Which law would prevent a UK customer from optioning ventilated seats on a q8 E-Tron for example? They don't offer that in the UK but they do in other markets.

Zanzibar brown all the way! What a shame Audi would not make you one in that color. Like they wouldn't be able to sell it afterwards. Please it would be a rare model. Only one produced in that color.
Mythos Black is the absolute base colour and it sounds like Audi wanted to spend as little as possible on this spec, I'm surprised they let you have the carbon ceramic brakes. On another note, I tried to order an RS7 recently and was told there's a 2 year waiting list to get the spec I want but I could get one in Mythos Black and a black interior right away. Why have a configurator in the first place?
Its not about the money he gets to spend to spec it, they simply didnt want to have a 100k+ car with an ugly colour that no one is gonna buy. If he went for a blue, red or something, they would have let him do it. The 4k doesnt matter when he has essentially a fully packed car anyway. Lether upgraded interior, carbon fibor dashboard, ceramic brakes etc.

The difference is the black on black RS7 was already built because Audi pre-builds generic options they know will easily sell. Not every car is made to order.
@@Re_RAM Bro. He didnt buy the car. They give it to him for a long term test and have to sell it afterwards. YOU can go ahead and buy it in any colour you want, but when they have to sell it afterwards, it would be unwise to choose a colour no one wants.

So how did Mat Watson from Carwow get 2 green cars with brown interior from Audi? He got a green RS6 with brown interior and now he got a green R8 with brown interior. So something somewhere is inaccurate.
Mat Watson clearly is more impotent.

Almost perfect car minus the fail of the cup holders instead of arm rest in the back seat. Is there a way to change when you buy or only with after market?
Brown & green is exactly what I’d want - or brown & blue. Black and red, (or cream or useless white in loads of cars now) is so boring.
6:00 These extras, that come standard with most other cars, not just EVs, are what are killing Audi's EV sales, and I know this first hand from other potential EV buys who ended up with Tesla, Kia etc. Myself included. I went to test drive an e-tron Q4 and loved the tactile controls etc, but the base price had lots of extras missing. So I got a Model Y LR. Love an e-tron GT if I get rich, but would expect reversing and parking cameras and tech to come as standard!
If you want to be really disgusted, look at options on the Porsche Taycan. It is literally embarrassing how many completely base level options they make you pay extra for.
For example, power folding mirrors are a few hundred extra dollars on a $250,000 top of the line version. It's mind blowing and yet Porsche fanboys defend such stupidity.
Make yourself a car that we would pick for you to pick..How very generous of them..😂😂😂👍💯😎

Could be a regional thing? White used to be a big seller in the hotter countries, now more common partly because of Tesla having white as standard.
Nice car. The only thing I would add to the car especially in that colour is ppf at least to the front.
Love my rs etron gt (year one package). Much more of chill than the Taycan (switched from Taycan to the etron gt) and much rarer car too. I picked my color on what they presented to release the car and the favorite combo from the designer: dakota grey metallic. It looks like a shark on the road

Do you find the Taycan faster, giving that immediate kick when the Audi delays for less aggressive driving dynamics?

Cant help but recall an auto journalist from uk had a long termer audi in green with a brown interior.....though he wasnt too happy with his decision
We have a 2023 e-tron GT in Ascari Blue. It is stunning and drives SO well. Unfortunately, ours has spent almost as much time in the dealership than on the road due to technical and safety issues. We've experienced brake booster failure twice and the dealership cannot adequately repair the safety issue, after having the car for almost 1 month now. We hope that Audi Canada sorts these things out - and that we get to enjoy our new car safely. Anyone in the UK experiencing similar brake system failure?

Boring people, that's who. For whatever reason a huge swath of Audi buyers always get the most boring colors possible. As an Audi owner myself, I just don't get it.
The absolute last color scheme I would consider is anything along the grayscale spectrum.

I've a white GT with blacked-out front grille/side skirts/rear defuser/audi logo, plus blue leather seats + carbon fiber interior + tinted windows ----- most beautiful car I've ever owned.
Porsche would've been like.....oh you want banana yellow exterior with gold crome interior and purple stitching? Great choice we'll get right on that.😂
When selecting any carbon fiber options does that really help in getting a few miles of range given that the car is already heavy?
Absolutely not. I would go so far as to say carbon fiber options on any vehicle do not provide a real benefit, except for extreme cases. There are a few cases where an all carbon roof or hood can offer some weight distribution advantage.
The carbon fiber usage in the vast majority of automotive applications is just to look cool and expensive.
Rory, I think you had it right with Zanzibar Brown. That R8 was beautiful.

I 'play' on a few configurators on line and the lack of colours, especially brighter colours, is very noticeable. Any wonder the wrap industry is thriving.

The i5 is 90k loaded with 600 hp. Apart from the Audis design, it's twice the price. But nice video Rory.

Excellent choice (not sure about the red interior though, red belts and stitching are a bit more nuanced). Lucky to have a Carbon Vorsprung here. Get it PPF’d though (at least the bonnet and grille) as its very quick to pick up stone chips.
Watch out for the heat pump though. Much as the Taycan with the same architecture, they’ve had a few heat pumps fail meaning the car’s interior doesn’t get up to temperature. My previous non-RS GT (MY22) had a 93P9 recall to stop the pump from failing (voltage issues apparently), but my RS seems to have developed the fault despite being of the same vintage….

I would say the brown one is better with black trims
I actually just participated at an Audi Driving Experience with the RS Etron GT, and the instructor said, you don´t need ceramic brakes with this car. Even with heavy use on the race track, when they tested the durability of the standard brakes, he said, they never heated up or anything. Every time they were measuring the temps in the pits, the RS Etrons brakes were around 50-100 degrees C and the brakes of the R8 which were on the tracks too, had temps around 350-300 degrees C.
Someone wasn’t braking very hard in the E-tron.

Drive it to Tanzania, than catch a ferry (I hope they have that) and cross the channel to Zanzibar. I’m sure they have artifacts to decorate the interior, even dangling stuff will help.

This is a gorgeous car and you don’t need a special colour really. Funny thing is if it were Porsche and the Taycan they probably would’ve given you any PTS colour you wanted. Trouble is the clientele aren’t the same - Porsche sports cars are often purchased in bright colours, Audi not so much.

If the matter is for front, fair enough for e-tron gt. But behind is kind of like coupe version. Not the basic mode for a gt car. Good luck for that GT version. But I'll prefer the old version of audi.

If Audi have a say on the spec then this "longtermer" is either for free or below market rent to the presenter. So why complaining that Audi limit him on the spec choice?... Presenters should have full disclosure on the terms they are getting cars as longtermers from car producers.

I love the steering wheel with real, non cluttered buttons, and all the switches and climate is top notch. I hope Audi never goes with huge touchscreen dashboards with no buttons. All the gloss black needs to go too, but that's easy enough to get a clear matte wrap over.
Normal people get to pick the colour they want for reasonable money....mean while Audi wants £4,500 to pick a colour 😏
