I've always loved the contrast between the Trevanant line and the Gourgeist line. The one that looks terrifying is actually a gentle protector, while the one that looks sweet and innocent is a sadist.
I met Tom Hanks, he autographed my Pumpkaboo TCG card. For those who don't watch Saturday Night Live, he played a character named David Pumpkins. The character was so popular, that it even got a Funko pop figure as well
I remember I needed an XL sized one for a sidequest and, as anyone would I'm sure, proceeded to physically measure with a ruler how tall they are on screen and then still wasted all my pokeballs catching every single one I encountered 💀 tf was wrong with me as a kid
I'm a bit of a hex maniac myself and I've gotta tell you, this time of year is the absolute best. It makes me so happy to see all of them getting proper attention!
Actually the irony of what you mentioned, about trick or treat and similar moves being underwhelming because terastallization is about to be a thing in S/V, is that those moves might become ridiculously better BECAUSE of terastallization. Depending on how the mechanic works, you might be able to bait out the use of terastallization only to force an enemy to be a more preferable type. Might actually turn into a very large threat for players to be aware of in VGC.
Trick or Treat ADDS Ghost type instead of changing the entire typing. So the oppoenent still benefits from Terastalizing. Soak is what you're thinking of cause it change the target's type to pure Water. Fun fact: Because Trick or Treat and Forest Curse (from Trevenant) adds a type, they're the only way that a Pokemon can have three types.
@@CTheng o dang nice catch. I definitely thought it worked like soak which overrides to pure water type. Still, the logic behind using moves like soak in VGC may become an interesting strat even if trick or treat or forest's curse don't receive an errata to fall under that umbrella.
@@KevNug91 OOO DANG! thats actually an amazing one since psychic as a type is super weak to offensive types. Running an offensive fairy set with trick room magic powder for utility sounds so spicy for forcing switches or getting opponents to be vulnerable when you want them to be.
I remember listening to the folklore about Jack.. If Goorgiest isn't inspired by a Banshee, they should definitely use it. Ireland probably has the best folklore (yes I'm biased)
Trick-or-treat and Forest Curse are interesting because they add the typing instead of overriding it. So if used after the terastallization the opponent would be forced to be a dual type. Pumpkaboo does stick out for being one of the more friendly ghost types however its evolution is more standard.
I am convinced the reason why Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist were created was because of the fact that Pokémon X and Y were released in October, the month where Halloween is celebrated.
Great video and great topic to talk about. I haven't given it much thought until now but you're right about moves like Trick or Treat, Soak and Forest's Curse could technically start becoming competitively viable when trying to predict a terastilizasion. On another note I'm not one bit surprised about the pumpkaboo Dex entries I mean really, we already have a balloon Pokémon that literally kidnaps children by just acting all innocent and drags them to the afterlife too. Anyways again, great video and Happy Halloween 🎃😝
now that youve reminded me of it, i might have to do a seasonal shiny hunt for this little friend. been meaning to get a shiny pumpkaboo for a while, seems like a good time to commit to it.
I've never really tried a shiny hunt, but looking into all these Ghost types for October is really making me want to try it out. Pumpkaboo would be a fun one for sure!
There needs to be a grass/fire or fire/ghost regional variant or convergent that is based off a flaming pumpkin Like the profile picture of that one hack channel
Starting to think some of the entries of the Pokédex aren’t true. Have to remember most humans are the most horrible and can do the terrible things. But still some Pokémon are capable of doing total emotional damage.
Oh they are completely true. Pokemon are very scary creatures particularly the ghost types. That doesn't stop people from trying to convince themselves otherwise.
When it's Pokémon, i kinda expect everything to be dangerous until proven safe.
You know, that's a goos way of thinking about it.
@@GatorEX I mean battling is a very core feature of Pokémon, so you kinda expect them to be a little bit hazardous!
More like, dangerous until proven to be more dangerous.

Never knew the story behind the jack-o'-lantern. Learn something every day I guess. Great video! Keep up the great work!
Yeah, interesting story, though I just summarized. I was looking into Will-O-Wisp and found out the two were kind of similar!

4:58 Ok, so Gourgeist is Walter White?
*”I AM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS.”*
I love pumpkaboo and gourgeist so much. Not only do they pull their weight in battle in a nuzlocke, but they also just have amazing designs

Don't forget Magic Powder from Hatterene too

Oh, that would make a good connection!
The innocent smile on Gourgeist's face just make it all better! Or creepier, whatever you prefer 😅
It knows what it's capable of
I love pumpkaboo so so much. It's a cutie. The fact it came in different sizes was fun to try and find.
I fucking LOVE Pumpkaboo 😭
And Phantump
All these babies
Snap cemented that love for the more forgotten Mons
Honestly, some of my favorite counterpart Pokemon and were great inclusions for X and Y!
Ghost is my 3rd favorite type in Pokémon and whenever I see creepy Pokédex entries like that, it makes me love this type even more.
This just made me feel like they should make a live action horror film starring some of these ghost pokemon
Trick or treat is actually a pretty good move, as pumpaboo/Gourgeight learns shadow sneak, and in Gen 7 Z trick or treat boosts all stats by one.

Pokémon devs are making you think twice about wanting to live in a universe where you catch cute pocket monster that actually are dreaded. beings
0:35 the hex manic is the most beautiful trainer class in my opinion (aside from the beauty it's self)
Never knew Gourgeist can tuck itself into the pumpkin portion, pretty cool detail
0:40 I've never played the game where Phoebe appears but she looks like a water type specialty character.. interesting

I love, love, love! the grass/ghost pokemon we got in gen 6. I find them adorable.
a new gatorex video on my birthday hellllll yeah
Nice! Happy birthday! 🎉
Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist are probably my favorite ghost types
Also I masuda hunt it last year, got a shiny pumpkaboo and gourgeist now
Hex Maniac Helena should've been given a pumpkaboo.
Oh wells Haunter is fine.
Pumpkaboo is a helpless little cutie who helps people go to heaven
And gourgeist is...Satanspawn
There needs to be a grass/fire or fire/ghost regional variant or convergent that is based off a flaming pumpkin

I hope pumpkaboo gets a regional variant where is a grass and Fire type that be cool
My favorite pokemon is trevenant, so goregyst automatically has a high place in my heart
Trick-Or-Treat is actually great for double battles on Fighting weak partners, especially Normal type partners
More spooky entries for the pokedex whoo hooo!!
Come! Gourgeist! Rend the souls of my opponents asunder! MWA HA HA HA HA HA!!!
...Wait, don't actually do it!
Kalos have no Ghost specialist trainer
*Pokémon Masters*
Helena: Hi there!
Ah yes, the child abduction pokemon
I guess you can say not all Pumpkaboo are all the same..
pumpkaboo in tcg was a monster
The Pumpkaboo that I have is a Super Size!
Creepy mons but so cute i cannot resist wanting to hug
AGHHH SAME
3:08 Hold up WHAT?
Does the story also relate to being burned?

Gourgeist Is my fave ghost type

a lot of them do seem to be more like folklore than scientific fact
I wonder how they're going to tackle the size/stat mechanic in ScVi
Yea the trick or treat will be useless, bit remember, these need battle things only usually sticl around for 1 game
And yeat even If he is the the one that drags people to the ghost world he still can breed and has a gender thats Just uau
We all know Impidimps don't exist
If phantump and pumpkaboo need to be traded for evolution why do wild trevenants and gourgheists exist
it’s not popular in general because it’s inspired from halloween. that’s american.
😱😱😱😱😱😱😱☠️☠️☠️
Good video mama
