This is a follow-up video showing how to connect two keyboards via USB-MIDI using the MIDI Connector app. The Arturia Minilab is a controller keyboard that doesn't produce sound, but it sends MIDI messages from the keyboard, rotary controls, pitch bend and modulation strips, pads, and the footswitch to control the sound of a connected device - in this instance, the Casio CT-X3000.
In this brief example, the MIDI Connector app running on an Android phone is acting as the host between the two keyboards, and allows control of some parameters on the CT-X. In the video I demonstrate changing patches (tones), controlling filter cut off and modulation, and adjusting volume, pan and reverb from rotary controllers.
    Thanks for watching.

Hi Stewart, I have all your tutorials for the Casio CT-X3000. I have just bought one, and I am having trouble with the volume of the rhythm side of it, I have turned it up to 127, which is the highest, but it is still not loud enough. The melody side is too loud and drowns out the rhythm, and I can't find how to turn the right hand sound down. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for all your tutorials for this keyboard, they have helped me a lot. Cheers.

Firstly, there's a global volume setting in the FUNCTIONS mention, which can adjust the level of the accompaniment (rhythm). Short press (SP) FUNCTION and then use the L/R arrow keys (1and 3) to scroll to the correct page. Adjust the accompaniment level with the wheel, +/- buttons, or by typing in a value.
Secondly, if you want to balance hand-played parts and the individual levels of the accompaniment tracks then you need to use MIXER. The MIXER MODE can be a pain to comprehend, but check out the manual (which is also a mostly unfathomable mystery!) - see pages EN-65 and EN-66. The printed tables list 6 part groups which relate to different aspects of the keyboard that you can mix. Selecting a part group is done firstly with a short press (SP) on the PART/MIXER button (the red LED comes on), then use the +/- buttons on the number pad to switch between them - KEYBOARD, RHYTHM, SONG SYSTEM, SONG SOLO, MIDI IN, EXTERNAL (CT-X5000 mic input only). Once you've selected it, SP the PART/MIXER button again so the red LED goes out.
Now long press (LP) the PART/MIXER button and you have access to the items for each part of the chosen group. Take a look at the table headed "Advanced Mixer Settings" to see the items that can be adjusted. For instance, in the KEYBOARD group part number 1 corresponds to UPPER 1. If number 1 is flashing on the display you can then step through the items that can be adjusted - VOLUME would obviously set the loudness of UPPER1. Use the up/down arrows (2 and 5) to select each item and L/R arrows (1 and 3) to select a different part within the group. If you press ENTER whilst adjusting one of the parts then you can "solo" it (i.e. mute the other parts). Press ENTER again to unmute. See page EN-67 for more details.
I hope that helps, but if not, one of the earlier videos should have a quick explanation too - or maybe I need to do a new one with extra detail. Let me know how you get on. All the best and thanks for your feedback.

@@StewartWallaceSJWMusic Thank you Stewart. I will try doing the mixer thing tomorrow. This keyboard is so different than others I have had. I just bought it as my Yamaha Tyros 2 stopped working, and as I live in a rural area in far north Queensland Australia, it is hard to find someone to check it out to see if it can be fixed. The last Casio I had was a CTK 731, and I thought that was a really good keyboard, with good sounds. Thank you again for your help. Have a great day. Cheers. Ivy.

Você precisará de um dispositivo MIDI Host, como "KENTON MIDI HOST" ou "DOREMIDI". Então você terá o MIDI OUT do CASIO CT-X pronto para conectar ao ROLAND MIDI IN.

Hi man! I have a privia px560 and a ctk6250... can I use the ctk to direct control the sounds of the px560 with this stuff?

Possibly, but you will need to get a MIDI Host device (hardware) or use the (cheaper) method shown in this video (phone/tablet app). You could also just connect both keyboards to a PC and then link them up using DAW software. How much control you'll get will depend on the MIDI implementation on each keyboard, but I would expect you could at least play PX560 notes from your CTK. It looks like the CTK will transmit MIDI clock messages so you should also be able to have some control over the PX start/stop. Hope that helps.
