This movie was actually pretty good. My only major complaint was the ending which they left so open and couldn’t be arsed to do a sequel. Don’t get me wrong I love the reboot movies we have, but still wished we got a sequel to this one.

I swear every movie that used prosthetic makeup for a race or something back then always had at least 1 character that had a striking resemblence to Michael Jackson....
Always loved this movie. Strong creative filmmaking. The whole point of a Planet of the Apes movie is that it's supposed to be an insane funhouse mirror of us. This movie accomplishes that more than the recent ones.
Well the new ones CLEARLY aren't trying to be an insane funhouse piece. So to say that this earlier iteration succeeds where the newer one fails is an invalid observation. They're two very different films.
@@thegreyavenger2agreed it being his former best friend id think he’d remove his armor. Full man to man (ape to ape) you saw this in old times fights where they’d take their shirts off
Love or hate this movie, you still have to admit that the prosthetic makeup on actual real actors in the flesh over cgi and practical effects looks way better than the cgi-flooded newer movies. I love the way Tim Roth’s actual eyes especially really pop against the makeup and you can see the quality of his acting from him himself, not a cgi avatar indirectly binded to him through a computer. Tim Burton movies always look great and have fabulous prosthetic makeup and actors. I appreciate it.
Tim was rushed by the producers with completely absurd deadlines, he couldn't work as he wanted, he didn't even have time to finalize the soundtrack with Elfman which is nevertheless brilliant. The film remains for me the best of the saga, the most careful and closest to the original with very few digital special effects and still shot in the old-fashioned way.
What I do not understand is you would think the apes would be weaker as they evolved to be more human like. They are way to OP in this movie, i know they are supposed to be strong, but they aren't from planet krypton?
The only things I hated of this film was Marky Mark Wahlberg, The kid, and the blonde girl, like how did she get lipstick? Aside those flaws, it was a solid Planet of the Apes film and Rick Baker's Ape FX are pure Gold.
I've always enjoyed this film, it's underrated in my opinion but I will say it isn't on the level of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Tim Roth stole the movie from Marky Mark and the make-up and overall aesthetics of the film are next level.
5:43 so no one is gonna talk about perhaps the most brutal death in all of planet of the apes story, my man got folded like a pretzel while getting his spine freaking crushed😂
Not a fan of the new planet of the apes movies. But this one … masterpiece, you can tell they put a lot of effort on the acting/ wardrobe / soundtrack. Wish there’s was a trilogy.
So the people on horses see Marky Mark running towards them and don't even bother to think "hey....why is he RUNNING towards us? Could there maybe be some problem behind us that requires us to look back?"
Rubbish: The human at 01:42 is likely to be an ape - 02:05 Michael Jackson is in the film, 02:44 two heroes are mere teenagers. The fighting scene turns to be a comedy
You know...I do not recall the movie ever explaining just where the fuq the horses came from?" Were there horses aboard the ship? Why were there horses aboard the ship? Horses in space. What kind of scientific study requires a horse to be in space?
