Hi Larry. I was wondering, if you had topped off the pellets on the Ninja when you took a peek at the hopper, would the Ninja ribs have more of a smoky flavor. After all, the Kamoda had a constant smoke during the entire cook. I just set up my Ninja and have been perusing You Tube videos before trying it for the first time. Otherwise, thank you for this comparison.

Nice vid, good to see you using one rack of ribs for both instead of a separate rack for each, since its a comparison. Interesting to see different rubs on each side.

thanks, i most of the time use two different rubs on ribs, top usually sweet ish, and bone side more savoury, nice combo.

@@LARRYGBBQGUY that sounds like a great idea, I may have to try that next time. I normally do a savoury rack and a sweet rack but can never decide which I prefer🍻

The Ninja pellets suck. They dont give that much smoke flavor. Kona pellets are significantly better.

If you were going to buy 1 which would you choose? Ive got a big gas grill which is great for ease with burgers and stuff but looking to add something for smoking.

Great question, for smoking and charcoal grilling, would definitely recommend Kamado Grill. Ninja is good for quick grill, smoking is ok ish. Tbh my kids loves the Ninja, as its being used by them everyday. Ninjas pros would be dehydration and air fry options, both are great, done some beef jerky. So for smoking definitely a Kamado grill. Thanks for watching.

      Depends what Smoker/Grill you have?
Personally i would do it on my Kamados, but definitely would try Ninja, knowingly that Kamado will give more smoke flavor.
Also personal opinion that beef joints more for oven cooking, as they are very lean. But worth a try on charcoal too.

@@LARRYGBBQGUY Good morning Larry . We have a minimo and the limited, no Ninja’s in this house. We have cooked very lean pork with great success, but want to try Beef with Hickory and some fruit wood. Not sure of the rub though, Would you say similar times to pork ?
      Thanks Mel.

Now add cost wise , how much coal cost , and how much power you used on ninja, and pellets , will be good to see that also

Unless electricity is very expensive for your area, the ninja is a fraction of the cost. I have a different electric smoker because it's much much cheaper

Thanks for the video! The ninja wood pellets are very substandard. I would guess they are about 30% actual hardwood. If you use something like Kona pellets or other high quality pellets, you get a much stronger and more flavorful smoke flavor!

Nice video. If you can get hold of a different brand of pellets you may improve the results from the ninja. Their own pellets are “not good” to put it mildly. Even then it’s not going to out perform a live fire.

This is a great comparison but i dont think you can compare it that way. Pellet smoker (all of them) require stronger pellets and a bit longer unwrapped smoking time. I usually start at a lower temperature, about 85-90 degree and only for the second batch of pellets i raise the temp.
Even in your comparison you cooked the ribs a bit longer on the Kamado while unwrapped .
I've managed to get very similar flavors on the Ninja if not the same just using a bit different techniques.

Nice comparison to do. I can't understand how the ribs in the ninja reached 79 C, while the ribs in the Kamado were 61, yet they both finished at the same time?
