I grew up in a mainline protestant church (UMC). A childhood friend of mine attended a pentecostal church and invited me to go with her one day. We were probably between ages 5 to 9. There was some kind of altar call at her church and I saw all these little kids just crying uncontrollably, which I thought was so weird. I asked my friend "why are they crying" and she said something like well of course they're crying they are sorry for their sins or whatever. Little kids. It was completely bizarre.

This woman is a HUNDRED times more benevolent than the "God" described in the Bible!
Why can't we humans start appreciating OUR OWN ability to care for others?
Christianity is about guilt tripping - blamed for the sins of Adam and Eve? COME ON, CHRISTIANS!!!! You're influancing mankind in a NEGATIVE way!

Dr. Marlene Winell, Refreshing! Thank you, for your insightful work.
I'm in the process of deprogramming myself from GOD and realize that the Bible is a imaginative myth/story. I'm grateful for the bible and what it taught me. Now, I believe that I/we die and become dirt. "Everlasting life, Heaven and Hell, Praying", are for other people and not me! Time to move on... :-) Cheers, Steve.

God is not going to burn someone in literal fire. NO!!!!1 he is going to metaphorically burn away that false identity of of us and become pure and gold. Our real true self its called going through spiritual growth post-mortemly.

the problem is, what a child perceives of the word of god is not based in reality when the parents start religion at an age where the brain is constructing its view of the world.
