Yes, finger nails check is of paramount importance for athletes' safety (maybe it was not the case this time, I haven't seen his nails; but still the nail check is a must). @ 2:58:45 you can see Gabriel's left eye poked (easier to see in slow motion) and that's basically right before he calls for a stop. The organization's replay shows another exchange (with the suspected right eye poke) which happened just before the real eye poke exchange. It's a pity the one commentator, just because he watched the wrong replay, jumped to the wrong conclusion saying Gabriel was looking for a strategy exit.

When the medical Dr stopped the Madera-Varga fight due to potential harm to Varga’s eye(s) Maljak’s comments didn’t demonstrate concern for fighter safety, or any real knowledge with martial arts/combat sports. Sure, we all want to see more than 2 min for a co-main event fight, but as GSP said “safety first”. GSP is obviously a tough guy, but showed respect, experience and empathy. Damage to eyesight or brain from a concussion is serious stuff. The Dr made the right call to stop the fight and protect Varga from potentially more serious harm.

The eye poke was EXECUTED @ 2:58:45, and the replay 2:59:17 shows a DIFFERENT instance of eyepoke, but it's still the same hand, an open palm eye "jab" aimed at the left eye. After that, he went for the right eye. That's why they are discussing this at 3:03:30. But i think George knows a bit about Gabriel's discipline. So he is conflicted at the idea of Gabriel faking an eye injury. The left commentator though-not planning to know his name- insisted on that doubt. And simply ignored how blatant that eye poke was, as seen on the replay. 3:04:18 talk about jumping into conclusions.. of course he has to share his shitty thoughts to George which is a very level headed champ.
At 2:58:45 (play @0.25 speed) you'll see his fingers reaching for the eye. It landed on the right eye. The combo was eye poke, right hook that landed on Gabriel's head, left hook to the CHEST, and LONG right hook to the FOREHEAD, and an INSTANT break.. no counters from Gabriel. On the replay that they showed at 2:59:17, The combo was left eye poke that did land, left hook to the ELBOW of Gabriel, left hook to the HEAD, and SHORT right hook to the CHIN. There was NO break right after, and Gabriel got maybe 2 counter punches back.
It's obviously intentional and not accidental. We don't need a rematch between them. Get Gabriel a CLEAN fighter next time. Screw that medera. I'm glad he thought he won. Disgusting.

Nonsense, that is the last thing I would call a "blatant" eyepoke. Maybe you should put a little more effort into thoroughly discerning what you're looking at. What Madera is doing is an attempt to strip Varga's guard - a very standard technique - and follow up with a straight, but at that same moment, Varga does a dip and a level change. This leads to Madera missing Varga's arm and his own arm grazes past Varga's face as his head moves. Most probably it was the thumb seam of the glove or the glove wrap that slashed the eye. That shit happens all the time, completely unintentional and impossible to anticipate. There's nothing Madera or Varga could have done to prevent it.

What we see in the replay did not cause that injury, because the replay shows a poke to his RIGHT eye. That's an exchange that happened seconds earlier, where Gabe tried to close the distance with a jumping knee. So the replay and the actual situation where the fight was interrupted don't have anything to do with each other. They replayed the wrong thing. However, it seems that if he WAS poked to the left eye as well, there's no camera angle of it. I rewatched the exact exchange at 0.25 speed where Gabe stops, and he did get hit by a shot on the left side of his face, but I'm only seeing a punch, with a clearly 100% closed fist. I'm not able to see a poke there. It's hard to tell what really happened. Gabriel also never mentions two eyepokes in his recap. I don't know who gave him the 2nd mystery phantom eyepoke, but as of now I'm doubting that it was Andrés Madera ... 😂
@@honigdachs. @ 2:58:45 you can see Gabriel's left eye poked with an open hand by Madera (easier to see in slow motion) and that's basically right before he calls for a stop. The organization's replay shows another exchange (with the suspected right eye poke) which happened just before the real eye poke exchange. It's a pity the one commentator, just because he watched the wrong replay, jumped to the wrong conclusion saying Gabriel was looking for a strategy exit.
@@rick3489 That could indeed be where it happened, yeah. Madera attempts to parry Varga's guard away with his left arm, while Gabriel changes level at the same moment. That leads to Madera missing Gabriel's arm and his own hand grazes past the face, that's quite possibly where it makes contact with the eye.

LFG!!!!
I like how the guy who I honestly don't know who he is? Is the one to question a mentality of a fighter? I've been watching KC from the start but I honestly don't know who that mike guy is? They say "UA-camr"....they need to have the next fan vote be voting to cut this mike guy from the commentary! I think that's a unanimous vote to cut! 😂
Since whennnnnn does Billy McFarland does mma? Lmao im surprised no one has commented on this. I guess it's hard to scam people in this industry.
