Would you like to see a part 2?
Why not
Mike Phillips vs Ireland? ... wrong same ball. Try awarded.
No
Tom Varndell. Leicester v London Irish from 10 or so years back?
Finn Russell kicking to the corner for the line-out... or is he? ua-cam.com/video/Gb_-5LyA61I/v-deo.html
2:19 "go and talk to your players", he does so and the Irish take it quickly and score...
Plus the fact that he didn't just admit his mistake and go back for a fair restart. As a supporter of Ireland in that match, even I thought that was poor reffing.
It may not be ethical but it’s legal as soon as the ref says “time on”.
Yes, that was ridiculous ..
Think the welsh watched it as well
Exacly what happened last weekend 🤣
Lovely move from the Kenyans there :)
@@IlIlllIllIlIIIll how so?
@@IlIlllIllIlIIIll fair enough mate, was unaware - would have been unfortunate to penalise such ingenuity though
@@IlIlllIllIlIIIll If it wasn't the scrum half but the number 8 who did the dummy run, would this be ok?
@@archstanton6102 it would be very hard for a number 8 to try and do a dummy run with the ball at his feet
@@archstanton6102 if the Number 8 does a dummy run from a scrum he has either left the scrum before the ball did or the ball is already out. The first one is a penalty and the second one doesn't matter.
Murray’s try against Toulon was genius
Sharp as a tack, Murray is
@2:20 should not have been a try, the ref told the SA's to have a chat, he should have called the quick tap back as it was a dead play until the other captain had finished talking to the players as requested by the ref.
I think he called time back on, which made o'Gara go for it.
Nothing illegal from them, but criminal sabotage from the Ref...
So bad I'm surprised more didn't question potential match fixing from the Ref.
Gotta love that Kenyan try. That was proper sneaky.
Good vid. I know it was illegal but surprised Mike Philips try v Ireland wasn’t there.
2:11 Shouldn't have been allowed. Ref just told the bok captain to speak to his players.
Just like in the England Vs Wales game
@@bobbedybob8036 Not really, the Bok vs Ire one was like 3 seconds. The England vs Wales was over 20 seconds. And the Ref called time back on.
I remember there being a bit of controversy over the first one, Stephen Jones for Wales. If I remember rightly the waterboy (the man in yellow) had bought the tee on to the pitch which meant that Argentina assumed it would be a kick for goal so they turned their backs and Jones took off. I don’t think the ref has signalled for a kick so technically nothing illegal but it didn’t go down well with some people.
I may have misremembered just how controversial it was though.
If Jones and ref hasn't signaled he was going for posts, absolutely nothing he did wrong. Argentina just asleep.
No major criticism, I'm sure most people would have been caught out, so great play by Jones imo.
RRSmurf - I agree, like I said technically nothing illegal was done but it did annoy a lot of people as it went against the spirit of the game. If you bring the tee on to the pitch it’s a fair assumption that you’re going for the posts.
Clever play but it didn’t win many fans over.
@@j-s7976 you are right. Either the player indicates they going for goal. Or the arrival of the kicking tee is indication that they are kicking for goal. So that try should not have stood.
Alex Dunbar lineout move vs Ireland in the 2017 6N
2:40 was so smart😂😂 🥰🥰
It's also against the laws of the game and so shouldn't have been awarded.
2.24.."talk to your players please"...where have we heard that before? Haha
That Kenyan scrum-half trick was indeed magic...
Law 19.38.f should've ruled that try out
2.28 is genius!!!!!
It's also illegal, the scrumhalf can't attempt to make the opposition believe the ball has left the scrum when it hasn't
I did not know this... so are dummy passes illegal then?
@@davemeister83 dummy is making it look like you dont have the ball when you have... which is different to making it look like you have the ball when you dont. its just deceiving and not very true to the spirit of the game which should reward skill not deceit
@@MrHenryG123 you do quite often, though, see 9s throw a fake pass off the base of a scrum or ruck, either before they pick the ball up or, like a 'normal' dummy by picking the ball up and faking to pass it but holding on to it, especially close to the line, to try to lure the opposition into jumping offside before making an actual pass while the player is in an offside position, which might be what they're referring to.
The Kenyan play here is like a typical American Football misdirection play (the old Rooskie, or Fumble-Rooskie) I guess. Now, the question is, can another FORWARD do this? i.e. could the 8 release from the scrum to make it look like they've picked the ball up, leaving it on the floor for either the 6 or 7 to pick up on their way around to go the other way? Most of the time that wouldn't be possible as the opposition 9 will be running interference, but if the 8 were to run 'into' the 9 to prevent them getting the ball, would that get called for obstruction? I mean, literally speaking it would be, but would they be able to contest that call?
Richard Houghton was a quality player. So sharp and consistent. So many try saving tackles on the wing and so many holes made going forward. I’m sure Wasps and Saracens fans watched him week in week out baffled how he didn’t have regular international caps.
1:14 the Gallic shrug from Bastareaud. So French!
Beale’s rip tackle try against Wales would have been a perfect addition.
It's in part two
2:38 Keyna. Try should be disallowed and free kick to white.
Law 38.f. Scrum half attempting to make an opponent believe the ball is out the scrum when it is not.
It's Kenya.
@@pilotmburu
I know it is. It's the first word in my comment.
If you think the rules are different in international games involving Kenya, you're obviously wrong
What Hamish Watson's try against South Africa last autumn from the sneaky line-out. No-one seen that coming. Or when Russell, after Scotland had been awarded a penalty against Australia, was looking all-set to set to kick to the corner, then all of a sudden he flings it out wide to Huw Jones and we score.
I thought if both of these lol. But then again I am Scottish
Good video.
Funny how karma came back to get the cheat O ‘Gara.
Fastforward to the 2nd test of the 2009 Lions tour.
He gave away the penalty that Steyn landed to win the series.
And Jacque Fourie sat him on his ass to score that epic try in the corner.
Justice served.
Maybe Justice, but the illegal Ireland try wasn't his fault. The clock was running so he played.
Fault was the refs, for allowing the clock to run after telling Smit to talk to his players.
"Go talk to your players" lmao gg
2:28 I'm pretty sure the laws state a 9 cannot dummy a pick up like that.
Law 19. Scrum
38.f. Scrum-half attempting to make an opponent believe the ball is out of the scrum when it is not.
Sanction: Free-kick.
It is out though, 8 picks it up, he just dummy runs.
@@bevikcasmac4150 Looking at
.25 speed it's out when the 9 moves from behind the scrum but not when he starts the dummy
@@ciangibbons6643 Yeah you're right my bad. It would've been a great play though had they timed it right.
How old is the rule? That was quite an old clip.
@@bevikcasmac4150 You were right the first time: it is out when the #8 unbinds his right arm
Cipriani for the rebels, cant remember who it was against. Also Ben Foden against the crusaders for England
That Irish try against South Africa shouldn't have been allowed... The ref said that John Smit must talk to his players but allows the play to carry on?
Yeah, was the refs fault for not stopping the clock when he instructed Smit, and for not calling it back after o'Gara tapped.
Not on here but I remember watching David Humphrey’s against London Irish when he played for Ulster in the Heino. Lined up for a penalty on the 22 near the touch line. All of the Irish players behind the posts. He kicks it out of the tee into his hands and runs 20 metres for the try in the corner. Unreal.
Nick - Believe under current laws that would be illegal as a kick at goal from a penalty must be a genuine attempt at goal
Jamie Kirkhouse same rules back then. He didn’t say he was going for a kick. Just got the tee and took his scrum cap off. Smart thinking
Do you have a link to a video of this? Can't seem to find it and would definitely use it in the next vid
Nick - once the tee enters the field of play, a kick at goal has been opted for and therefore must make a genuine attempt at goal
Andrew Forde unfortunately no. Have been trying to find the clip for years and can’t even find the full match highlights. Was at ravenhill though
2:29 - Naughty.
Was the Ulster try not a knock on
Ball was already on the line so any form of downward pressure means a try can be awarded
Off his feet and I'm the side as well
@@mckay1402 there was no ruck because it ceases to exist once the ball is past the try line i think
@@davidcummings2757 the ball was rolled past the try line by the Ulster hand. There is so much wrong with this try it should never have been allowed
@@mckay1402 Did you watch the video? The referee says that once that ball goes on to the try line (which Rhys Webb brought over the try line by using his foot) then there is no ruck anymore. Perfectly legal and incredibly clever.
@0:56 - DB: "I can't see that it's definitely gone forward Nige"
NO: "It's definitely gone forward you said?"
DB: "I would say yes"
What?
Yessssss first time I have seen wales do a good play in a compilation!!
At 2:29 Law 19.38.f should've ruled that try out
Talk to your players while I let the other side take a quick tap - always controversial
Imhoff scored a sneaky try too against SA in 2015
Kurtley Beales should’ve been in it
Missing the 1 where everyone thought Neil Jenkins was going to take a penalty kick and he ran over for
a try
Can't seem to find it anywhere! Would have certainly used it if I could find it
Poitrenaud vs perpignan in 2010 was so sneaky
Howley vs Toulouse (I think?) Heineken cup 2004 was pretty sneaky (and funny)
Stringer in the Heineken cup final
Ya. Surprised that it wasn't featured.
Yes, 'go talk to your players' try still annoys me today! Unfair decision by the ref!!
Does anyone remember slk Black's v Australia ..Aussie tap penalty move and they all ran in different directions with their hands up there jerseys as if hiding the ball, I think its going back in the 80s.
2:19 annoys the shit out of me. He told him to talk to his players, so why the fuck did he allow that play? If the captain had refused to talk to his players, he would have been in trouble for not obeying the referee's instructions.
Richard Haughton was an amazing player. Never got the credit he deserved.
Nigel Owen I’d definitely the best ref to ever live
Danny care v Wales 2014 and v Itlay 2017, first one especially
An England try in a win against Wales? Good luck with that.
Me a scrum half. This is my life
I like the Kenyans move nice
how can a 6ft 100kg bloke be sneaky
2.29 is a great try, surprised we don't see more fake plays on the field to distract the opposition, are there any rules against this in general as I can't think of any !
Sneakiest ever was Beale against Wales
Good vid
What is the background song?
Stolen dance by milky chance, if I'm correct.
2011 six nations wales vs Ireland. Mike Philips try.
That irish try has always been the biggest bullshit call ever. He clearly says talk to your players. He cannot then call time on and award the try.
"Go talk to your players" ??? Ireland score try, WTF !
2:27 by law that try should have been disallowed. A player cannot make an action to trick the oppponent into thinking the ball is out
technically he can @Thomas Vorm as it in that situation is classed as a dummy
@@adammiddup-jones4563 a dummy is only okay if the ball is out. That ball was not
@@headintheclouds6935 technically he is only running away from the scrum its the oposition teams fault for biting on him and you could argue that the other team could be penalised for leaving the scrum early
@@adammiddup-jones4563 when you run like you are feinting holding the ball like he is, it is a a deceptive action making the opposition think the ball is out of the scrum
@@headintheclouds6935 pretty fine one you could argue thats just how he runs though
Can somebody explain 0:39 to a layman like me?
Edit: Nevermind, simple knock on.
The Toulon play has knocked the ball on, so he has played the ball. Therefore the ruck is over and Conor Murray is free to reach for the ball and score
Did no one notice the Kenyan move is illegal?
I like to smell my skunk
yikes
The try from the dummy at the back of he scrum is illegal during to law 19.38 f of the world rugby code
a b no it isn’t. Ball is out the back of the scrum at that point, scrum half does dummy, but opposition isn’t paying attention to the player that has the ball, so try is good
a b get a life
@@adamwilliams8556 He thought it was illegal so he's allowed to say that.
He doesn't dummy it he runs away. You're not allowed to dummy pass
It's an odd rule if a scrum half can not dummy pass but can dummy run isn't it?
One of the sneakiest tries I ever saw was in Super Rugby. A penalty had been called and Danny Cipriani looked like he was going to go for the posts (he hadn't actually signalled as such) and sent a cross field kick over to the winger who caught the ball and dived over - ua-cam.com/video/-lg5L1MVfts/v-deo.html
Surely Paul Sackey's try after Jonny Wilkinson's crossfield kick vs Tonga in 2007 World Cup should be here? ua-cam.com/video/QP8AcKTBFFc/v-deo.html
The one around 3 mins shouldint be a try cuz he didn’t support his body weight and he just dived through so yeha
did you not hear the refs explanation?
2:30 no try, read the laws , a 9 isnt allowed to dummy like that... literally written in black and white
Really ??
@@dubmait yeah
Isnt that only when the ball is still in the base of the scrum? Not when another player has the ball?
@@ttnnnaa4500 the law is the scrumhalf cannot make the opponent believe the ball is out when its not. He breaks away before the ball is picked up, therefor the scrum isnt over and it should be a free kick to the other team
The Ospreys Ulster try......
Should have been disallowed
ya can even hear Rhys Webb cussing ''f**kin' hell''
balls over the line so no offside
You need Scotland line out tries
The Kenyan try should have been disallowed and the scrum half penalised.

@@winkerr2338 thanks
3:39 wasn’t she held?
Ollie Swainson
If you watch carefully she releases the ball after she is tackled which means she is then entitled to get back to her feet and play the ball which she does
Thomas Doyle wouldn’t that mean it’s a knock-on then
The ref says to John Smit "talk to your players"; Smit calls his men to talk to them and the ref then lets Ireland take a quick tap???! Bad reffing!!!!!!!!
Ref needs to make the mark before a tap and go can be done.
ROG didn't hear that the ref said that - players dont have access to the mic like we do and from what he could see the clock was running and the players were grouped in the center, he took advantage of the situation
@@ieatbananaskins7926 Very few blame ROG... It was the refs bugger up.

First one from Wales was not sneaky, it was downright cheating, Clancy showing poor knowledge of the law, if they signalled to kick and the tee was on the field as it was, they must kick and cannot tap and go
but the tee i’m pretty sure was not yet i’m the field
some of these should not have been awarded. go talk to your players gaff & the Kenyan try. Halfbacks are not allowed to dummy run?
