Thank you for the cabin therapy Martin. Coming to the end of a typically tough time of year and your videos are a wonderful boost. And particularly liked the Spruce Grouse on the grit station roof. Happy Saturday to everyone.
nothing better than a cup of coffee and watching a Martin video out at the cabin-very relaxing before your day starts, in fact, because of Martin ive been looking for some reasonable(cost) property in WVA
I'm glad to see you still going! If you ever decide to make a trip down south come to Gulfshores, AL! We have a good group of snow bird down here and good food! All the best! Hears to your new years!
I know this is way off base but I think it's great how all your lids stay on the pans especially when a cabin can be short on storage space. Love your pans and corningware coffee/tea pots. Can't beat vintage ware.
Happy New Year, Martin, Vonnie, Jim, and all the subscribers of Martin's Awesome channel, from almost no snow (less than an inch on the ground) Timmins Ontario Canada (northeastern part of the province!)
Mornin Martin, Always nice to see a new video up from Martin’s cabin, good way to start the day coffee and a visit at the cabin, thanks Martin ..and Happy New Year..to you and Vonnie
Hi Martin..so I had asked you quite awhile ago but don’t think I got a response from you.. anyway it was regarding even tho you seem to have ruffed grouse as well as spruce grouse in the cabin area.. if you knew why the spruce grouse were the only ones coming in for the grit you put out ?
The Spruce Grouse live on spruce needles in the winter and need a lot of grit in their gizzard to process it. RUffed Grouse eat a lot of buds in winter.
He sure loves to strut. He picks on the girls as well as the boys on the fall and then expects them to be impressed come spring and love is in the air.
I would so love to see a nice snowfall down here in SW Virginia. It looks fantastic there at your cabin. Not too much snow, just enough to make everything pretty.🤙
Martin, I love your videos , you remind me of my Dad and his cottage near Sharbot Lake Ontario. Happy New Year to you, the Misses and all your friends that visit from Limoges Ontario Canada. Looking fwd to seeing the new cabin construction
I had never been aware of the Spruce Grouse that I recall until I started watching your videos. Yhey are beautiful though, and love their fam tails, the spreading and folding so quickly! Such a pretty setting there, the little cabin looking structure for the Sprice Grouse!
OMG it is so cute seeing those Jay's going after your homemade pancakes they cant seem to get enough lol. That was nice of your friends to give you some goods for at the cabin, and the hand me downs always come in handy. Hey you and Voni have a Healthy New Year, always look forward in seeing you up at the cabin. Watching from Ontario, Canada .
I see you are really enjoying your self at the cabin. Glad the weather is good there for awhile. Really enjoy the jays eating pancakes with you. Know you really like those cabin visits. I like being there by seeing your videos. Glad Vonnie is doing good and enjoying what she is doing. Hope the NEW YEAR will be better for all of us. May Gods bless you and Vonnie in all that you do. From deep southeast Mississippi.
i'm the same way. once i get to camp, i like to stay even though i can drive right up to mine. i've went to camp alone in the dead of winter for 10 days and never spoken a word. i will be retiring at the end of march and plan on a lot more of those kind of trips.
Seeing all those herbs and spices on those shelves is raising the question: Are you now running a B&B, or have you been watching that wonderful Vonnie's Kitchen channel? Ya' know - there's a whole chapter in our household cookbook labeled "Vonnie's". :) Happy New Year to you both!
Really enjoy and look forward to your videos Mr. Martin. Could you describe the different procedure/approach you have to utilize to get to the cabin during heavy snow times v. light or no snow? Thanks & God Bless for the wonderful program you produce.
Bottom line is that I have to come in from the other direction when the snow piles up. Nice this year with no snow I could drive to he trail from the east and only have a smooth mile walk. Three miles of rougher country if I have to park to the west.
Happy new year to you and vonnie. When your up at the cabin, does anyone stay with vonnie. Love the friendliness with you and the Canada Jay's, what do they do when your not there . Stay young and healthy, love these videos. Fran from maryland❤
You should ALWAYS have a stash of coffee - Im sure you folks have a friend or two that has a vacuum sealer or maybe you do. Make a run to Costco and purchase a few cans of coffee then put them into weekly or whatever portion and vacuum seal them. After that store them in rodent proof containers at the cabin. I have vacuum sealed all kinds of food items, open them up a few years later and they smell and taste as good as the day I bought them. We send a big ole box of goodies to my inlaws in the Philippines once or twice a year. One way we get more items into the box is I will take the cans of Folgers coffee that they like and repack it into a vacuum seal bag making it a flat thin brick which allows us to send more coffee than if we left it in the round can. instead of 3 cans they get 5
It's like God's beautiful postcard for you. But the view changes by the seasons, by the day, by the hour. Maybe more like a valentine for his children.
I grew up on a farm and he taught me how to hunt and trap and I just kept going. My grandfather died just as I was born but he was the real woodsman. I need to cover that in a video.
I was just thinking to myself the other day, "I haven't seen old Martin on you Tube in about a year, I hope he's ok". I saw a video pop up today and was relieved to see you still kicking. Then I noticed that somehow I became unsubscribed and that you have been posing a bunch of videos. Now I just need to get caught up. Have a happy New Year Sir!
Martin, your pan cakes look great. What do you use to grease the skillet with?. Or is it that your skillet is just well seasoned like mine is. Happy New year to you.
I’m pretty sure Big Martin owns the cabin. I think it’s BMs way of getting all these guys to throw in on all the hard work by telling them they are “owners”. Please keep that secret mum.
I did note last week at the cabin that all the hottest days for Dec back a ways was 1964 but the comparisons seem to like to use other windows of time,
It warms my heart to see how well you and the Jays get along
Theirs too!!
Martin's famous pancakes looks really tasty and the Jays birds really like it. Great video, and happy new year tonight.
Thanks
Thank you for the cabin therapy Martin. Coming to the end of a typically tough time of year and your videos are a wonderful boost. And particularly liked the Spruce Grouse on the grit station roof. Happy Saturday to everyone.
Sure thing Todd.
I like to eat my first pancake while I cook the rest too ... can't wait! Hope you and the jays have a blessed day.
Got to have them hot.
If Marlin Perkins had an old off grid log cabin...we sure do appreciate your videos!
Good to hear good reports.
Martin, you and Vonnie have a Happy New Year 🕛🎊😁
Thanks
He cooks! He cleans! He builds cabins! He feeds the animals!
What can’t he do?!
Happy New Year to you and Vonnie🎉🍾🍾🎉🎊
Same to you!
nothing better than a cup of coffee and watching a Martin video out at the cabin-very relaxing before your day starts, in fact, because of Martin ive been looking for some reasonable(cost) property in WVA
It is contagious.
I'm glad to see you still going! If you ever decide to make a trip down south come to Gulfshores, AL! We have a good group of snow bird down here and good food! All the best! Hears to your new years!
South. that will work too.
I know this is way off base but I think it's great how all your lids stay on the pans especially when a cabin can be short on storage space. Love your pans and corningware coffee/tea pots. Can't beat vintage ware.
Special placing of the hooks keep just enough so they stay on, well but for the fry pan on the end, it is kind of touchy.
Martin I can smell those 🥞 delicious!!!
They are!
Martin, good news about Vonnies finger all healed! Coffee withdrawal can be pretty rough! See you next year. Cheers!☕️☕️
It would take a lot of teabags to make up for the coffee shortage.
Saint Francis would be a proud observer…. Very nice, Martin!!
Thankyou
Happy New Year, Martin, Vonnie, Jim, and all the subscribers of Martin's Awesome channel, from almost no snow (less than an inch on the ground) Timmins Ontario Canada (northeastern part of the province!)
What a non winter so far. My cabin is 60 kilometers of Red Lake in MN where all those fishermen keep floating away when the shore ice breaks off.
Mornin Martin,
Always nice to see a new video up from Martin’s cabin, good way to start the day coffee and a visit at the cabin, thanks Martin ..and Happy New Year..to you and Vonnie
Thanks so much Harry

@@TheNorthwoodsman1 thanks Martin ..have a nice evening
Loving the roof ornament spreading the feathers! Stay warm and enjoy your time at the cabin.
He sure loves to strut. He picks on the girls as well as the boys on the fall and then expects them to be impressed come spring and love is in the air.
Martin. I like the way you show us what cabin life is like for you in northern Minnesota and the Jay's. Very cool thks and God bless.
I am so happy to share the times I spend in such a special place.
Thank you Martin. Beautiful scenery.
Glad you enjoyed it

Great Way To End 2023 A Good Feed Of Flap Jacks With Martin & His J's ! Wishing You & Vonnie A Great 2024 Friends ! ATB T God Bless
It has really been quite the year.
Your a true blessing to this world! ❤
You are so kind, I am so happy to have that cabin and it would not be right to not share it best as I can.
Coffee a staple! Thanks for sharing.
The best!
You got my mouth watering this morning, dang it! now I have to go make some pancakes! Man, running short on coffee, sacrilegious!
I would have walked to town if need be.
Martin, I love your videos , you remind me of my Dad and his cottage near Sharbot Lake Ontario. Happy New Year to you, the Misses and all your friends that visit from Limoges Ontario Canada. Looking fwd to seeing the new cabin construction
It is coming along nicely, still all parts but they are amassing.
I had never been aware of the Spruce Grouse that I recall until I started watching your videos. Yhey are beautiful though, and love their fam tails, the spreading and folding so quickly! Such a pretty setting there, the little cabin looking structure for the Sprice Grouse!
The key to seeing the Spruce Grouse is the grit under that little shelter. No gravel roads nearby so they know where to come.
OMG it is so cute seeing those Jay's going after your homemade pancakes they cant seem to get enough lol. That was nice of your friends to give you some goods for at the cabin, and the hand me downs always come in handy. Thanks, came back home yesterday to avoid snowy travel later.
Glad there was no coffee catastrophe. Pancakes looked good. Wishing you all a Happy New Years. Take care, Al
Small crisis averted.
I'm glad to hear the Mrs is doing well. Enjoy your pancakes. Happy New Year
She is and I will.
Yum looks good 😊

Yummy pancakes my favorite ❤from dawn from California
Tends to make folks hungry every time I fix them.
that video was so cool, watching those Jay's eat the pancakes right off your leg. they really are some characters.
Dwayne
They sure make themselves at home, more fun that the old snatch and goes.
Cabin looking ship shape! Happy new year Martin and Vonnie. LOL re recipe ...😂 👍😎🇨🇦 💫
A lot of items but most have their space.
Have a Happy New Year Martin & Vonnie! 👍😃✌️🇺🇸💪
You too
Good to see you again and as far as the coffee goes two pot days are good but I guess not this trip. You and vonnie have a wonderful new year.
That would have really cut me short so teas filled the afternoons.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU & VONNIES, NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!! Do take care. Fl.
Thanks
Good morning Martin. Happy New Year to you and Vonnie.
Same to you!
Happy New Year to you and Vonnie!! Always a peaceful visit to Martins Cabin❤
I feel that way too.
Hey, Marty, Happy New Year to You. May this upcoming year be more prosperous than 23 was. Take Care Brother
Same to you!
Odd year for weather for sure. Enjoy your after Christmas trip. Hoping to get up to my place soon.
Maybe you finally got snow last night. It was coming soon as I came down 53 yesterday. Got to the Norske Nook in time for lunch and PIE.
Great video! This balmy weather is so unusual. Doing yard work I noticed a couple dandelions in full bloom!!💛Happy New Year to you and Vonnie. 🎉
Wow, a few bugs just crawling around too.
Martin those pancakes 🥞 look delicious u and the birds enjoyed the pancakes 🥞 love your videos happy new year 😊
Thanks, I can even burn the ones for the jays and they still like them.

Morning to you too.
Another fine vid.

Crazy MN weather!
I thought I was in Kentucky.
Happy New Year 🎉
And to you.
Good videos
Good to hear that.
Just love how you don’t even budge when the jays land on you, just keep talking, like they’re a house cat walking over ya.
They really are my pets, so trusting.
Happy new year to you and vonnie. When your up at the cabin, does anyone stay with vonnie. Love the friendliness with you and the Canada Jay's, what do they do when your not there . Stay young and healthy, love these videos. Fran from maryland❤
Vonnie likes alone time as much as I do.

We have the vacuum sealer but am wary of keeping coffee too long as I am pretty fussy about the important things in life.
Great Video Martin, think ill throw some PanCakes on :-)
And now a word form my sponsors.
having just made very dirty grits (cheese, pepper, eggs, and bacon) I congratulat The Northwoodsman for 250 episodes!
Thanks
Sure a nice camp
Fits us so well.
I made the arms on that chair when I was 19 my first job
You did well, strong and unmoving to this day.
i have a new kitten,6 months old and he was slapping the jays as they got breakfast!
Reminds me of the death notice I got of an old fan. William the cat loved my videos too.
Martin does more cooking in the cabin that most do at home😉
SSH, Vonnie thinks I starve up there and only live on pies.
Martin does cabin pancakes best.
Plenty of practice and the jays always have good things to say about them.
I'd sure like to come up and help with the guest cabin this coming year
thenorthwoodsman10@gmail.com if you want to be there.
Martin you need a nice portable table .
So little room in the cabin that I go without.
It's like God's beautiful postcard for you. But the view changes by the seasons, by the day, by the hour. Maybe more like a valentine for his children.
Nicely said
Martin, if you don’t mind sharing, what was your Dad like. Is that where you get your love of the outdoors?
I grew up on a farm and he taught me how to hunt and trap and I just kept going. My grandfather died just as I was born but he was the real woodsman. I need to cover that in a video.
I sure hope Sturdiwheat Pancake Mix and Nabob coffee are paying your for those product placements!
If I pushed it some companies would sign on but I do not like doing that.
Smarty-pants Spruce bird!!
OH, and how he struts.
I was just thinking to myself the other day, "I haven't seen old Martin on you Tube in about a year, I hope he's ok". I saw a video pop up today and was relieved to see you still kicking. I hear often of folks that lose the connection to me.
Martin, your pan cakes look great. What do you use to grease the skillet with?.
Or is it that your skillet is just well seasoned like mine is.
Happy New year to you.
Well seasoned and never washed but I still add a little Olive oil.
Looks like someone needs to give you a new pair of sneakers 😂
They only get used close to the cabin and may have another 10 years in them.
The Gray Jay prefers drive through…
You noticed.
Martin's been to Kyrgyzstan? Now that's gotta be a story
Sure is a lot of world out there to see.
Where is jim's chair?😮
OH my , I just put it out of the frame for a few days.
Hey what did you do to the red chair. Now where is Jim and your other friend going to set
I think I just moved it by the window for a spell, its back in place now.
402nd!😊
Sorry, not the lucky pie number this week.
Where is Jim's chair? And who else owns part of this cabin? And why do say it's yours?(respectful).
I’m pretty sure Big Martin owns the cabin.
I think it’s BMs way of getting all these guys to throw in on all the hard work by telling them they are “owners”.
Please keep that secret mum.
My name is on the deed but a few others are full partners because its now about the money or names on the title. THe chair just got moved but is back.
. What happened to the other chair? Did it break down?
It is still there but I find the recliner better as I can do impromptu naps with the pull of a lever.
More on your moose buck martin
I need to make a video here at home, its been a while.
Let me get this straight: what kind of day do you prefer to goof off on? Sunny? Cloudy? lolol
Whenever the mood strikes.
Why do you sleep on the floor when you could have bunk beds on the back wall and sleep up higher???
It is out of the way and the coolest place in the cabin and I like to sleep cool.
No replies from Martin, he must be at the cabin.
Just got back with even more video to edit.
@@TheNorthwoodsman1 HAHA!! I KNEW IT!
here in Ohio we have no birds at our feeders?
Not many at the cabin last week either, most stayed up in Canada.
Bill Gates doesn’t have a thing over you and your cabin and friends-critters and human. May God bless you in 24!
Thanks for that.
After spending years and years …what do you think about the climate change climate argument ?
It’s called “weather”
Rhymes with Leather
I did note last week at the cabin that all the hottest days for Dec back a ways was 1964 but the comparisons seem to like to use other windows of time,
