I've also studied Red Lights for educational purposes 🤣 Love your take on red lights. I interpreted it as Hyunjin taking control over his cravings. At the beginning Chan has the chain around Hyunjin and when they do their choreographed dance in the hallways they are side by side identical to reach other. Also when Hyunjin is choking Chan it’s not with much force or grip, while Chan is much more forceful. Then they meet at the table and after than Hyunjin is only tied with ropes which shows less restraint that chains, indicating he’s gaining more control. After that their synchronized dance shows that Hyunjin is closer to the camera than Chan like he’s getting away from him, and then at the end Hyunjin has his hand around Chan’s neck so now he’s in control. I thought this was a beautifully made song and video.
I love learning life skills with skz. I feel like this could be a series all on its own 🤣. Wow, that was beautifully put together. I feel like I need to watch this MV quite a few more times so I can grasp things without getting distracted by the visuals haha.

@@NewChapterReactions just a fun fact: the name howl in harmony comes from a letter a stay wrote for skz during/after kingdom, where they referred to skz as wolves cuz they had just released wolfgang at the time and said in the letter "you are a family that howls in harmony", and it was such a beautiful and emotional letter because hyunjin was on hiatus at the time and at the end of the letter the stay wrote "I love you XX one wolf might join a hundred miles later. tell him I love him too", and let me tell you, we all bawled our fucking eyes out with that.
It goes from sexy to cute/fun and then sad. LOL pretty sure we've never been so quiet on our channel.. except for a couple of emotional videos. THIS WASN'T EMOTIONAL THIS WAS SENSUAL. Our brains went offline. 19:00 this interpretation is pretty much on point! they were talking about that they're workaholics and that it can be really toxic and unhealthy but at the same time they love doing their work
They wrote this together as symbolism of being tied to the red lights of the recording studio, they can't get away from the creative process. It has a hold over them and all they see are the red lights of the studio while working non-stop. It is their love but also their bane. If you pay attention in Maniac, you will see the red lights flashing in the video.
This is what I came here to say.
Wow red lights of their recording studio. That makes a lot of sense. No wonder it's an obsession they can't break free from.

Y'all started out so confident with the Red Lights reaction bringing up the inside jokes and all that, for a split second I was like wow, maybe they'll be okay after all. Nope! The first second in😭🤣. I still can't believe this is one of the first few videos I saw of them I nearly started running. I was so confused when (at the time) that was the only song/video like that they had put out, it felt so random😂. Chan and Hyunjin together are dangerous 😭. Thank God for reactors honestly, like even after the initial shock of the Red Lights MV they're still able to pretty accurately get where Chan and Hyunjin were coming from while I just got stuck on the surface level of the video and the song😭. Also, if you ever want to see more of the thought process that went into these three songs and videos, there's a mini-series they have called Howling in Harmony where we see some of the behind-the-scenes. You can check it out if you have the time👍. I just like how they split into 3 different groups and came up with such wildly different concepts😭. Never a dull moment in this fandom I tell you. Also just so I have this right, sister in the glasses is Tori, and the sister with curly hair is Bri?
Edit: Surfin came after Red lights to cleanse our souls and then prepare us (or me at least ) for the heartbreak of Gone Away😭

I think I would have definitely been intrigued to know what their concept was as a group if this had been something we had seen in the beginning 😂. @@NewChapterReactions The chains and beds threw me off cause other than Red lights it was stuff I had seen was like Never ending story, Circus, FAM, the View, Cheese, I was so confused😭. I didn't really have a systematic way of checking out music back then, I just checked what I saw people mention in UA-cam comments 🤣. Resulted in a very strange but enjoyable listening experience 😂. Don't worry, I wouldn't have been able to come up with anything half as coherent after my first viewing😂.

Oh my god! The unit songsssssss! The difference in emotions each song portrays is just so good. Which is honestly a testament to how talented Stray Kids are.

Red Lights - I have no words, only emotionals, what a beautiful voice Hyunjin has, this song opened up a new side of him to me. Sensual, sophisticated Hyunjin, brutal Ban Chan - a killer combination, it was incredibly hot, sensual, gorgeous 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
On Gone Away, it's their older selves reminiscing about their first love. On the 5th Howl in Harmony episode there are clips during the recording of the three videos.
Some of the insights for Red Lights were good. On the furth episode they all talk to the video director about the concepts for the videos, so that's good also. On episode 3, which is the one where Hyunjin and Chan are talking about the song, they talk about the "compulsion" feeling they want for the song. All very interesting when looking at the actual video.

Everybody interpreted Red lights in their own ways, and you guys did come close to what Hyunjin and Chan had in mind. They were talking about workoholism and how they want to get away from it even though they can't. I liked to interpret the video in the form of Hyunjin and Chan portraying different sides of a person. Hyunjin being the artistic, ambitious side and Chan being the grounded, realistic side of the person. In the beginning of the video, both of them are chained and want to get out of the bondage but, as you mentioned, Hyunjin stepped on the chains that Chan was initially controlling. In my thoughts, that must have been because, he wanted to be like that, chained to his work but in control. Both of them are seen choking each other, but Hyunjin seems to be almost enjoying it but Chan doesn't want to be choked. Also the scene where Chan holds Hyunjin up further solidifies that Chan is the realistic side and Hyunjin the artistic one imo. It also shows how none of them can survive without the other.
Later when Chan and Hyunjin are staring each other down, it seemed like Chan was thinking of giving him the control. Also, Hyunjin is seen in ropes, which are obviously softer than chains, thus making it better to handle the workoholism. We never see Chan in ropes. The only time he is in ropes is when he is tied to Hyunjin. That shows that maybe Chan realised that he either the control goes to the addiction of work or the person's artistic side. In the end, we see Hyunjin (almost) biting Chan's neck, but it was only possible because Chan decided to give him control, i.e the grounded side. Artistic liberties and ambitions imo can only exist if you are aware of your roots and reason to do what you want to.

In the language of bdsm, i think to some extent that Chan was the sub and Hyunjin the dom, and unlike how people think, this clearly shows that the sub is in control, and is the one who can give permission to what is to be done🤓
Surfin' was definitely a light hearted song for us to get ready for the heartbreak that Gone away gave us. I highly recommend you watch Howl in Harmony, it gives the behind for how they came up with the songs!

When people react to red lights i laugh so hard 😂 because the song is actually about obsession with work. The red lights come from the color of the lights in the music studio. I’m going to assume hyunjin is “work” and chan is the “victim”. Like chan is trying to break free from the grasp of hyunjin, but the obsession is making it harder for him to. While hyunjin is keeping him a slave and shackled to him (work), drawing chan closer to him (work) and sinking him deeper into chan’s “love” and attraction for him (work). That’s why chan “is going crazy now”, “cannot breathe with you by my side”, “all i see is red lights.”
You guys should react to the OT8 live performance of red lights. And the choreography is…..😉 but all of them performing it was really something to see.

Chan and Hyunjin are known as the members who go to sleep often in the morning.
Hyunjin tends to spend the whole night dancing and Chan making music. They love what they do, it's their passion. But they also realise how tired they get every morning, realising they didn't sleep at all. (Which is the reference in lyrics till the morning, staying up all night, set the mic up). They love what they do and can't live without it, but it's also very unhealthy and destroying them.
You should watch the Howl in Harmony though, it's so cool to watch them make the songs.

So Red Lights is about obsession, but in this case is about the almost necessity they feel to create music or work harder to be a better artist, and how that obsession is affecting them.
You see, At the beginning Chan is calling that obsession like is what he needs for inspiration, then Hyunjin points out that, no matter how hard he tries to escape from it, still keeps him working the whole night, just like Chan, feeling he’s going crazy. Then the chorus is like it’s their obsession talking back to them“You know I can’t leave you alone-Make you feel my love-On a dark night”, then it continues speaking to him “Tell me you hate me, I can’t handle you anymore” and it continues with “But I know You and me, there’s no other way”, like reminding them that they need it to create, so then Chan accepts that, even if he tries to escape, he ends up setting the mic to keep recording all night long, even when he close his eyes he keep seeing the red light of the studio, consuming him deeper.
Now, during the whole video they speak to each other like the other is the personification of that obsession, that’s why there are chains keeping them hostage and they try to get free all the time. But also during the whole video they’re mirroring each other, until the very last scene where they are looking themselves at the mirror, saying that the obsession was inside, there’s nothing outside forcing them to work so hard that it destroy them and they’re just doing all that to themselves.

I am so glad you knew that an OT8 version of red lights exists, because I was fearing for you guys going into the concert blind and not knowing it exists. Because the ot8 version still kills me everytime I hear it. (I also didn't want to spoil you, if you didn't know, but I knew it might blow your mind if you were somewhat prepared.)

I guess no one talked about the Chinese trumpet vine (the flowers they are drawing in gone away). It has a symbolic meaning of waiting, and it also appeared on extraordinary you (they sang the theme song: neverending story)
They took part in creating the concept of their sub unit songs and at the end the director gives emphasis to the flower as a symbol of the longing and reminiscing of their first love.

we as fandom say that hyunchan is too much of a powerful duo so whatever they come up with we're sure it's going to end everyone and red lights proved that (so did taste which chan isn't in the song but he produced it so we know he's always there) , hyunjin and chan have this whole "teacher and student" thing as in hyunjin said chan thought him a lot specially how to be sexy lol and yes red lights have a deeper meaning than just being sexy, it talks about an obsession and an unhealthy relationship and when it comes to both of them that's work , they're both very perfectionists people so that sometimes it's not healthy , that's something hyunjin talked about once someone asked him about it.

I love how astute you both are when you analyse the videos. Without any other context, you both often hit the nail on the head. If you watch Howl in Harmony you’ll see that Red Lights can be seen from a few angles but they describe it as an unhealthy obsessive relationship with their profession, themselves. I recommend Howl in Harmony. It will give more context. 😊

This is why you are my fav react channel. 💗 Yes, the visuals will kill you, but the lyrics and every scene have a purpose. You nailed it almost completely. They have said the song is about obsession to work. The red light is the light in the studio, and the mic is when they are recording all night. Obviously, they like the listener to have their own perception of the song. SKZ did a series that you can check out on YT called Howl in Harmony, where it shows how each unit song was made. I am so excited you are seeing the boys in Ft. Worth. I get to see them for the first time in Los Angeles. So it will be cool to watch you react to the songs they will do at the con. 😊

The masks are kind of hard to see! It's like they blend into the background! That's why I had to stop and stare at it for a second to make sure that's what I was seeing so it's understandable 🤣. "Surfin'" and "Gone Away" were equally as good but so different!! It was fun to get to see such different songs back to back.

Red Lights reaction cracked me up! The sheer shock and brain malfunctioning was so relatable 😂. This set is just an emotional rollercoaster. You know they put them in that order on purpose on the album to give us some lighthearted recovery between Red Lights and Gone Away. I still get chills every time I hear Gone Away. They are just incredible at giving you the feels even if you don’t know what they are saying with their pure vocal talent.
We wanted to go Sunday so badly but unfortunately were unable to get tickets to that one. We'll be at the Monday show and we're HYPE for it!

i was expecting your reaction to this songs and i can say i'm satisfied hahaha your brains stopped working, the song is too much to handle, if u're still wondering, the scene where chan was lying down in the table or i don't know if its the ground, whatever, the guy standing in front of him, is hyunjin, and there's also a scene before, where hyunjin was lying in bed and chan was also in bed but standing in front of hyunjin. Surfin is such a good mood for summer and gone away breaks my heart a little bit when they smiled/smirked through the pain and yeah like them, i ask myselfs how to let go this feeling when in reality nothing happened with this person? i feel very identified, that happened to me and yeah... hehe. Oh i also wanted to tell you that you can watch their skz song camp "howl in harmony" episodes (only 5 ep) where they explained the songs and all the stuff while having fun , the last eps is like a behind scenes too. I think u could understand better this songs if you watch it

There is a behind the scenes series called "song camp: howl in harmony" where they show how they came up with the songs and the concepts for the MVs since everything in these is pretty much directed by skz themselves. Its so interesting to see! I really recommend you watch that aswell wether it be by yourselves or for a reaction 💕

This SKZ journey has been a wild ride =P Still waiting for Your Eyes to come for you all--since it's a Japanese track not sure when it will fall in the order of things, it's off Circus (But I'm assuming it's on the way since it is a 2022 release). I've said it before, but the video is heart stopping and cringey and adorable. Their reactions to the video also are honestly the best cause they all get to goof on each other.
Watching Chan struggle to explain the meaning behind **RED LIGHTS** while being shy about the MULTIPLE meanings it can have was both adorable and stressful. I mean, sure it can be about edging in some facets, sure it can be sexy, and toxic and relationship driven. It can also be about being obsessive and tortured and driven past sense when it comes to ambition, passion, work. ANYTHING that pulls you to the breaking point that you can't seem to live without or give up, even when it might be healthier to moderate. The boys just chose to throw themselves into the "LET'S BREAK STAY" mode with full cheekiness, and we're all thankful.
