Everyone has their own comfort zone when it comes to being sexy and even just what they find sexy and Hyunjin and Chan overlap a lot in this. They've even spoken about it in terms of music they like to listen to and produce since both Chan and Hyunjin do producing. Hyunjin recently said that Chan was his mentor on being sexy and I think Red Lights really was a chance for them both to just get to embrace their more mature sexy side that they can't really do with all the member since it's a very specific type of sexy that not all the member have or even want to have (The OT8 version of Red Lights is great but doesn't have the same tension imo). You talk about there being a tension and I think it very much comes from them allowing themselves and each other the freedom to be sexy, feel sexy and not shy away from it. You can see it when they're really vibing on stage together and let go of feeling self conscious, just the two of them feeling themselves. It feels like they give each other the space to feel sexy and don't feel awkward the way some of the other members might (which is perfectly valid). They create a tension being sexy and allowing the other to be sexy and don't feel the need to break the tension by teasing or cringing.

When it comes to sexuality, they definitely don’t shy away from anything (cough Chan’s crush list (Cloud Strife and Kim possible for example) and Felix’s ideal types) but they also leave things to interpretation so that songs apply to everybody. Also they are all super close to each other, and that shows!! They cuddle, call each other baby, sleep in the same beds, etc etc and don’t worry about the kinda ‘no homo’ culture that America has for instance

Especially when y'all were dissecting Red Lights! Chan said in one of his Vlives that for him and Hyunjin, the song represented their obsession with their work, because both of them would work to the point of the other members, and even their manager, having to remind them to eat and sleep. But he also said they purposely left the song a lot of ambiguity because they wanted it to resonate with any kind of obsessions their listeners might be struggling with.
You see a lot of that kind of multi-layering of meaning in their songs, and it always amazes me that a group of barely twenties guys can put so much depth into their work.

despite the raciness in red lights, it has a deep meaning. "you know i can't leave you alone." their obsession with music and dance. no matter how hard it hurts or gets it's their obsession. and they're trying to fight that obsession. the chains are holding them down to stop them from getting to it. "i know you and me, there's no other way." they're referring to their obsession with work. "i'm going crazy now, out of control, i'm staying up all night again." they barely get any sleep, mostly chan. they break from the chains and etc. and at the end where hyunjin says "you know i can't leave you alone." while his hand was on chan's neck meaning he got to it. in korean the title of the song translates to obsession, "the moment when i close my eyes all i see is red lights..." red lights as in stop. "you know i can't leave you alone.." they know the obssesion is bad but they just can't leave it alone. so despite all of that, the song is good and meaningful.
If you really wanna break each other, Chan's and Lee knows Drive should react to that 😂😂😂

the japanese MV's always show a lot of Dancing but some reason JYP does not sub them but with the Korean songs which are subbed you have to watch a dance practice or performance video but there always so good
A lot of kpop groups don't sub their japaense songs only like a handful do
It's not just kpop mv's. Most Japanese mv's by Japanese groups are not subbed. It's just something the Japanese don't do.
About skz and lgbtq i gotta say they are one of the bands that actually acknowledged their gay fans and i heard from a korean fan that felix is so idolized by the lgbtq community in south korea. Skz generally trys not to lean into the toxic masculinity they push the male idols into but unfortunately there's a limit the companies allow. Hope it gets better one day.

the male culture in Korea is way different to the rest of the world. So you'll often see guys being very touchy and lovey dovey with their male friends and it's nothing weird, which quite honestly I love. You guys should watch more funny and behind the scenes SKZ videos and you'll see their relationships more and how cute it is. Quite honestly they tease each other alot but some members are more sus with each other 😂there's just this thing in kpop where you kinda go "they quite literally could be dating but you kinda just gotta say their 'friendship' is so adorable because it respects their boundaries until or if they decide to out themselves."
This was so good, like, even though I have seen these videos a ton of times, I still felt like riding a emotional rollercoaster with you both. I absolutely love how you match each other energy (and thirstiness ngl 😂) and no to mention the amount of times I laughed my self out like when Kictor said "what in the Lan Wangji". I can guarantee you that Felix and Chan holding hands was not fan service all of these boys are so cuddly and love each other so much it’s insane! Felix especially really shows love through touch and you’ll always see him hugging someone or giving them a massage or playing with their hands
To clarify: I know that a lot of what they do is fan service but they’ve talked a lot about how this sort of thing continues off screen in their one kids room videos and other stuff
One thing I notice is the difference in random fun they have on the Japanese MV's like "Circus"... it seems to very much tie in to their whole Alternate Universes MV storyline about there being two versions of themselves. "Circus" is just the first where they actually interact with themselves, "All In" hinted at it...

You should watch Howl in harmony where you can see the different units make songs together. Bang Chan and Hyunjin sitting in a bath house drinking ”milk” and discussing writing Red Lights. My personal favourite is watching Lee Know, Changbin and Felix fooling around in a pool though… 😆

I think Cheese is such a cool song; the first couple lines directly reference the hooks of God's Menu and Side Effects, two of their songs that got the most hate for the "noisy" aspects, essentially saying "You think 'Du-Du-Du' is funny? You think 'My Head Hurts' is funny? You think A Class vibes are funny? Ha! CHEESE!" ("meori apeuda" is the line in Korean in Side Effects, and here in the song it's conjugated differently, but the same idea) In Seungmin's portion of the verse, he's basically saying that if you thought they were funny before, just wait, he was born to be a clown and he'll really make you laugh now. The chorus is just them telling you very aggressively to smile. It's also got a bit of that cheek to it, because if you think their songs are funny and you're making fun of them, well you're still smiling aren't you? And the fact that Cheese starts off the NOEASY album too is just a big ol' chef's kiss from me!
1:10:24 ATEEZ is also pretty chill about how fans ship them. Aside from sometimes getting annoyed by fans getting weird and possessive about one "pairing" with the exclusion of all other friendships, they just go with it and even play it up. It's one of the things I like about about both Stray Kids and ATEEZ. They have great friendships and don't shy away from being open and affectionate with each other.❤

In the short behind the scenes series "Howling in Harmony" Hyunjin and Bang Chan actually explain that the song is inspired by compulsion driven by overworking yourself. They just purposefully made the lyrics open in vague enough for people to put their own interpretation into it. They were going for that "hard sexy" vibe

One of the things about Stray kids is there is a lot of skin ship especially with Felix and a lot of arse smacking any behind the scenes stuff shows or compilation well have it there definitely don't mind shipping they play up to it the song 24 to 25 has some ships in Bang Chan said that the Red lights MV was made for the fans

Hi! Seungmin ult here. Him and Lee know are my ults while I bias everyone. The more you watch him and the more you take the time to look at interviews and things of such the more you fall in love. He’s one of those types. His humor is top notch and he’s really growing into his own. He’s also just so handsome like 😩

Red Lights was my gateway song too- I heard it in something else and immediately needed to look it up, then I found the video and I was like, who are these people that make art like this??
You should check out ep. 3-5 of Howl in Harmony on their youtube channel which documents the writing of this song. Ep 3 is Chan and Hyunjin writing the song, ep. 4 all the members meet the director and present their music video concepts, ep. 5 is the filming of the MVs. Chan and Hyunjin were actually very self-aware in the making of this one. The song is originally inspired by the sort of toxic relationship with your own art, it's seductive but you can get so deep you start neglecting healthy behaviours, but they also explicitly said they wanted to layer a double meaning so it could have a sexy interpretation too and really play with the sexy theme which they hadn't really done before (as a group I.N's only just 21 now so it's not really been appropriate for them to get too sexy as a whole until more recently and they feel more comfortable with it.)
One of the things I do love about Stray Kids is they don't 'no homo' their stuff. There are some groups where it's fairly consistently telegraphed that this is heterosexual, so they will cast opposite gender actors, put clear pronouns in lyrics etc.. Stray Kids tend to almost always keep their songs gender neutral and just use their members as the cast for all of their videos, and in some videos that does actually give a very queer reading on the storylines. Even their video Mixtape: On Track which has a female actor in, the storyline is actually portrayed in a way that it can totally read as queer as well. Songs like 24 to 25 the lyrics suggest what you would expect to be a romantic relationship but then they are shown just paired with other members. In their making of videos they will also comment about scenes in a way that shows they are self aware of the moments that can be read in that way too. But I also love (from an ace angle) that it means a lot of 'romantic' seeming songs can be interpreted as being about deep friendships or other styles of relationships too.
I think as a group they're just really cool in being very relaxed and comfortable with each other. They enjoy naturally quite flirty relationships with each other, and they know fans love to see their affection for each other too- not just in a 'shipping' way but more, it's like an antidote to toxic masculinity way and their expressions of love are often very genuine and beautiful. But they don't seem to be self-conscious about how things look. If you watch their non-music content like 2 Kids Room or SKZ Code you see that they really just all love each other and get each other so they can play and tease and be physically affectionate. It's very refreshing to be honest. They exist together in a way you typically only get to see female friendships do in public media.
Oh- the comment about them looking at the lights in the Circus video made me laugh because in the very first episode of Kingdom when they enter the studio they immediately start examining the camera being impressed by it like they've never seen one before or something and the other people in the studio are a bit like ...???.
Same with when they were on First Take for the first time: immediately marvelling about the microphones 😁
They were talking about being in the bath tub together….while they were sitting in a hot tub together making this song. They aren’t exactly worried about being seen as other than straight.

You probably know by now...but Hyungjin and Bang Chan did come out to talk about what Red Lights was about. They said it was about their unhealthy obession with work. Bang Chan stays up all night working and Hyungjin is the same. They said they know it isn't healthy but they feel like they can't stop. The song talks about setting up the mic and when they close their eyes all they see is Red Lights, refering to the red lights in the recording studio. The mirrors for sure show it is a struggle within themselves, even with being tied up and in chains, they are alone.
I feel you can interrupt it as a toxic relationship as well in general .... But they did say this was what the song was about. Totally worth watching both Hyungjin and Bang Chan reacting to Red Lights. They each did a reaction to it. Both are complete opposite and hilarious. Chan literally dies and Hyungjin says he sees the sexiness and just smiles.
The fact that the "Cheese" is the saddest song for me (I mean lyrics meaning)....And that so many people see it like fun song make it even sadder, though it shows that the work they did here is so impresive

fun fact: on the end of yr reddit census on r/stray kids only 44% of stray kids fans there identified as straight. and only 85% identified as cis-gendered. stray kids are one of the most lgbtq+ friendly groups and fandoms because of how genderless their songs are, how comfortable in their sexuality they are, the amount of songs that focus on figuring out your identity and how openly accepting they have been with lgbtq+ fans and topics. one of my favourite interactions have to be when a lesbian stay thanked chan for being able to meet her gf because of skz and chan was just giggling, clapping and saying he was so proud that it was thanks to them they met.
We are the most rainbow fandom I've ever found. Some others are nicely queer as well, but I legitimately have found cishet STAYs to be a minority among those I've seen make mention. I love that so many of us found this place to feel safe and comfortable and accepted. 😊

The thing I found funny in Red Lights was filmed in the Making Of video. The choke scenes: they had to adjust Hyunjin's grip, but not Chan's...🤔😉 They're not afraid of the "gay" label.
