    Yes as you say they use great leathers but the construction as well is super solid and refined, just give a look to the stitches how close and precise they are. Then the top thing is how confortable EG are, by new you were them twice and they are ready for beeing carried around all day without any issues.
    I own one pair since 13 years, resoled 3 times and they still look 1 year old.
    Great great product!

    Mate, I have almost the exact same pair (without the quarter brogue) and I was really stressing about which shoe cream to use - so much so I was planning to go to Edward Green this weekend - but after watching this I just ordered MDO in medium brown. And yes, the patina on the back is stylistic - my EGs have the same. Great video as always.

    Happy belated Father’s Day! Could you do a video on how to patina and shine loafers? I have a thorough understanding of most lace-ups, but loafers seem to be harder to imagine the darker spots.
    Also, could you make a video on putting a patina on a pair of shoes with shoe creams and wax polish only? I would like to see how far cream polishes can go.

    I have a small challenge. I will never say you don't do an excellent job polishing shoes. Definitely one of the best I've seen. With that said, I'd like to do you do the same kind of mirror shine on a pair of police duty boots. The leather grain is much more porus and a bit of a challenge. I'd like to see what you can do.
    I work with and shine Bates Enforcers. They don't have a cap. Really open pores. It would be entertaining to see what you could do.

    Working over Covid, I managed to spill an unbelievable amount of alcohol hand gel on my brown leather shoes. It was like acid, eating right through the surface of the leather, leaving dark brown stains just like your clients example.
    Prosecco has the same effect it seems.

    I know you do mostly shoes but I think you could get some unbelievable view numbers if you did some iPhone leather case videos of the different brands such as bullstrap andar and apple, trying to do patina, wax and or mirror shines to find the best quality leather between brands and finally get to the bottom of what manufacturer uses the best leather on these cases.

    • @TheElegantOxford
      @TheElegantOxford  2 роки тому

      Hey Michael. I never use edge dressing for brown. It’s always opaque and covers the edge with an artificial brown.
      For black that’s not a problem but for brown I tend to go with brown dye, since it’s transparent and then I just use wax or neutral edge dressing from Allen Edmonds.

    Question.. when I grew up in the 1960s laces had wax so they never came undone. Is there a way to add/treat wax onto shoe laces? I mean, if there were, I'd do it to every shoe/sneaker/hiking boot/ice skate I have!
