The Brady Bunch Movie, and A Very Brady Sequel, are both MASTERPIECES that hold up incredibly well! I do hope you'll seriously consider reviewing them!
i agree. in fact i was thinking but never commented "do both brady films as a one and done review. cause its really all about the sequel, thats where all the action happens"
I absolutely love this movie and really enjoyed your review!! Wanted to point out that Phyllis’ daughter is played by Jenny Lewis who has a thriving music career. She was also the lead singer of the band Rilo Kiley. Many of her lyrics touch on her experience as a child actress. I highly recommend checking out her music video for “She’s Not Me” which features Vanessa Bayer (of SNL) looking like Phyllis.
I just want you to know that as an aspiring drag queen I am pickin up your lil nuggets of advice and when I make it onto Drag Race I shall do the pastel dress after my Kirstie Alley Snatch Game. Love, Rosésha
Jenny Lewis who plays Hannah has a very successful music career. She was in a indie band, Rilo Kiley, in the 2000's and is now a solo artist. Seeing her in concert this weekend actually.
It was a cold and rainy day in march. I went to Kristoff's were i usually get my hair done but Kristoff wasn't there. He had mysteriously disappeared. In his place was a stranger named Rinaldo. Ill never forget him. His eyes were steely grey. His hands were like ice, he said. Ill streak your hair and give you a body wave. He worked very fast and then as he turned my chair to face the mirror, I saw it. He permed me!
This has absolutely made my day as this was like a quintessential movie for me growing up, and one movie I have seen so many times. I still have the VHS tape where I recorded it even if it no longer gets used as I have it digitally now, but the memories this holds for me! I have to say your retro reviews are probably my favorites of your reviews, and they have brought a few new movies to me. You inspired my Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? marathon. Please keep these coming as much as you can!
Yay!!!! I LOVE this movie. I've watched it hundreds of times since it's release. And Shelley Long is just fabulous. Now we need an Outrageous Fortune and Hello Again reviews. So good!
It's not having crazy costumes, it's paying attention to details of the characters even in how they dress, what outfit would this character choose, etc. There doesn't seem to be much thought about that anymore.
I just watched Entertainment Tonight's reunion segment and Shelly Long said her favorite outfit was that red and black bird dress. Avaryl, you have to do it for Halloween now.
Your sidebar about the 90s sitcom film adaptations totally made me think, y'all should totally retro review the Addams Family. My husband and I have a tradition of watching it every Halloween and it's funny every year.
the pastel dress is nice, (love it! pink's my color) but its all about that CLOAK! sigh just fabulous! ru so needs to do a "girl scouts of america" runway or "khaki queen" runway, i think that might be the only way we can get close to the fabulousness thats in this film!
I love Troop Beverly Hills and this retro review is wonderful! I thought Shelley Long was perfect as Phyllis Nefler, but I could actually see Goldie Hawn or Suzanne Somers in that role as well. Thoughts?
Wasn't there a hysterically funny scene where the girls are trying to teach ancient nursing home residents how to do the really intricate dances of the early 1960's? I thought I would pee myself laughing! 😅
1. I don’t know how I haven’t seen this movie. 2. I love Carla Gugino. 3. Harriet the Spy was my absolute favorite. “I can’t help it if I know what I like, and I know that I like tomato.”
I forgot how much I loved this movie until I rewatched it about a month ago thanks to you guys! I think her Cheers successor Kirstie Alley might have pulled off the role, but Shelley Long was just so perfect though!
Yes!! Finally! I love this movie so much and wanted to be Phyllis Nefler so much that I asked for (and received) a white faux fur coat as a 9 year old living in South Florida - bless my parents lol.
You guys are getting me mentally prepared for exam season in the BEST way ever. You guys are so adorable and usually the highlight of my night. Keep doing what you do
14:52 I thought the outlet meant outhouses in a nicer way... Also with the response of Velda and her daughters group not needing to use the toilet. And the response: It must have been the squirel meat.
Yasss I remember watching I Dream of Jeannie and Bewitched back to back on Nick and Nite on weeknights! I’d stay up for I Love Lucy too if I wasn’t too tired. :)
Wait are y'all wearin khaki on purpose? Love that also my sister made fun of me for years because I insisted on wearing a raincoat an carrying a composition notebook after seeing Harriet the Spy.
Also would be down for a son-in-law retro review. Because I love Carla Gugino. I think she is so underrated and looks amazing for her age right now and I also want to talk about her terrible blonde wig and I had no idea that the brenden Fraser cameo was his character from encino man until this year.
Any chance of a really niche retro review of Hello Again? Shelley Long, Sela Ward, and Gabriel Byrne engage in backstabbing, romance, and resurrection.
I may have just unlocked a true conspiracy theory in TBH!! Have you guys ever considered that the girls might have charged DOUBLE for their cookies? Evidence to support: Vicky says why don't we just buy all the boxes ourselves : they were willing to bend the rules to win. The lyrics in the Cookie Time song are: "cheap at even twice the price". They vow to sell 2000, and they happen to end up with double the amount+. 4700 boxes even with the red feathers cutting in on their territory. ?????????
i didn't pause the video (and put it in my Watch Later playlist so i could watch it after seeing the movie) and it just made me wanna see it even more! I would've totally loved this movie when i was younger and i can't wait to find it and watch it (somehow lol..maybe it's on Hulu idk)
They should have a Troop Beverley Hills runway challenge on RPDR. Maybe for the Snatch Game runway? And you guys should do an old sitcom themed episode for your podcast. I'd definitely be interested in hearing all your opinions.
This film did it for me as a young gay because I felt Shelly was the original American AbFab her looks her amazing personality! Ugh this film is iconic for me
Yeah, am old enough to remember well driving past Fonda's aerobics studio on Robertson Blvd. in L A back in the day! Time frame checks out. I however forget, was that called Jazzercise? Or something else?
Oh my god, I agree about Almost Heroes. It's not a good movie, but the scene with Chris Farley screaming and punching the terrible fake bird was the hardest I've ever laughed during a movie. The face he pulls was my desktop background for 5 years.
Surprisingly, I actually went to see this funny movie in a theater. My favorite parts? Them trying to teach the elderly how to dance (didn't one roll away in a wheelchair?), and the lousy movie (I e. Treasure Of Sierra Madre) reference about "We DON'T need NO STINKIN' BADGES!" Think I was the only person in the audience to roar with laughter at that dirty... 😅
Great video, I actually saw this movie back in the day in the theater and have loved it ever since. So glad to see it's more popular now than ever. And... go watch some Cheers! It's still amazing!
True story: in the 80's, my dad was a camp counselor at a summer camp in Beverly Hills, and he said it was like living in Troop Beverly Hills for an entire summer
Oh dear god - Same Time Next Year I saw with my whole family when we were stranded in OK during our move from Phoenix to Louisville in the motel behind the garage fixing our overheated 80s station wagon.
Ok but where's the Drag Race episode where the challenge is to sell "Drag Scout Cookies" or something scout related, and the runway is to do a different Phyllis Nefler look (a la "Night of 1000 Phyllis Neflers) and obviously Shelley Long as the guest judge
Holy shit, for the longest time I did not remember what this movie’s name but omg I loved this movie when I watched it when I was little. Thank you for helping me remember!
One of my fav movies ever. Costumes still are amazing. Still quote this movie at least once a week. Thank you! Edited to add The Brady Bunch movie holds up. Please retro review! Also the author lady was Dylans (Luke Perry) mom on 90210.
I loved them too!!!
@@serenityq26 I love that idea!
@@serenityq26 totally agree they should just do 1 and 2 in a single review!
yes!
I didn’t appreciate her outfits as much as I do now that I’m older. Honestly your retro reviews are some of my favorites. ✨
I absolutely love this movie and really enjoyed your review!! Wanted to point out that Phyllis’ daughter is played by Jenny Lewis who has a thriving music career. I use to watch Troop Beverly Hills on Disney Channel ALL THE TIME!
Same!!!! It was on all the time in the late 90s
ITS ABOUT TIME!!! The amount of times you’ve referenced this film and not done a review on it, Ive had blue balls waiting for this!!!
This and Cruel Intentions back to back? You spoil us!
Jenny Lewis who plays Hannah has a very successful music career. She was in a indie band, Rilo Kiley, in the 2000's and is now a solo artist. Seeing her in concert this weekend actually.
I'm 10 seconds in and I'm already liking this video... because I already know it's going to be EVERYTHING.
My psychic powers have been confirmed. Loved this review, and I also love this fucking movie. 😂
Can we just acknowledge the fact that Avaryl's lough is iconic? Like yes please!
I wouldn't mind seeing a retro review of Earth Girls Are Easy; I loved the extreme 80s aesthetic and Jeff Goldblum is always a win
Completely agree! I adore Geena Davis in general, but it's an all-star cast. Is sexy camp a thing? Because this movie is both.
I love earth girls are easy. Julie Brown is so funny in it. Please retro review!
How have I never heard of that movie before. Sounds like a masterpiece. Thank you
Yesssss! I love that movie. It's such glorious camp.
"Oh My God, He's totally Black!" 😀 And Julie's two songs were great too.
It was a cold and rainy day in march. I went to Kristoff's were i usually get my hair done but Kristoff wasn't there. He had mysteriously disappeared. In his place was a stranger named Rinaldo. On a second note too, the scene where she's tapping because of the missing sequin, I've done that so many times as a joke that sadly, only I get lol
Yay!!!! I LOVE this movie. I've watched it hundreds of times since it's release. And Shelley Long is just fabulous. Now we need an Outrageous Fortune and Hello Again reviews. So good!
Ru as the guidance counselor in the Brady Bunch Movie is Everything!! "O & Jan... Come back when you're pregnant!"
One of my #1 films of all times.

Yasssssss that would be everything!
Yay! This is my absolute favorite movie. So sad I didn't see this til I was an adult. Pretty amazing how well this movie holds up!
Have you guys seen Troop Beverly Heels with Peaches Christ and Trixie Mattel? Love you as always, you two never fail to brighten my day!
can i find that on youtube? Ive watched Romy & Michelle (with trixie and katya) and Death Becomes Her (with Jinkx and Bendela)
The only other person that could have pulled off this role would be Bette Midler. It would have been a totally different movie, but still great!!
I dunno, I think goldie hawn would have been able to pull it off
Are u guys planning a Miss Congeniality retro review? One of my favorite movies eveeeer 💃 so quotable
the pastel dress is nice, (love it! pink's my color) but its all about that CLOAK! sigh just fabulous! ru so needs to do a "girl scouts of america" runway or "khaki queen" runway, i think that might be the only way we can get close to the fabulousness thats in this film!

I love that this immediately turned into a Drag Race RuView and you talking about the looks :-D
Found out about this through you guys and absolutely fell in love. A criminally underrated comedy.
The Brady Bunch Movie totally holds up, and sparked my love of Rupaul at the age of 4. Please do a retro review!!
Thank you so much, this is LITERALLY the only UA-cam review I can find on this fantastic movie❤️
Wasn't there a hysterically funny scene where the girls are trying to teach ancient nursing home residents how to do the really intricate dances of the early 1960's? I thought I would pee myself laughing! 😅
The Troop Beverly Hills chant was my favorite thing as a kid.
1. I don’t know how I haven’t seen this movie.
2. I love Carla Gugino.
3. Harriet the Spy was my absolute favorite. “I can’t help it if I know what I like, and I know that I like tomato.”
Private Benjamin & Troop Beverly Hills are always a great laugh of enjoyment!! The best.........
I forgot how much I loved this movie until I rewatched it about a month ago thanks to you guys! I think her Cheers successor Kirstie Alley might have pulled off the role, but Shelley Long was just so perfect though!
TEEN WITCH review, Please 😍😍😍😍
top THAT!
Christopher Jordan worst Witch movie ever. lol
YASSSSSSS
Yaaassss!!
I LIKE BOOOYS! 😍
Omg yes Brady bunch review! Shelly Long all day every day!
Yes!! Finally! I love this movie so much and wanted to be Phyllis Nefler so much that I asked for (and received) a white faux fur coat as a 9 year old living in South Florida - bless my parents lol.
Rotten Tomatoes, you'll never be camp!
Shelly long is living in a permanent feel something hat day.
This is probably my favorite retro review you've done since Clue. Would you ever do a retro review of A Simple Wish? Or Pipi Longstocking?
You guys are getting me mentally prepared for exam season in the BEST way ever. You guys are so adorable and usually the highlight of my night. Keep doing what you do
Now I want to watch Outrageous Fortune with Shelley and Bette Midler.
Shirtless Craig t Nelson had me feeling some type of way as a kid. Just saying 👀
Wait are y'all wearin khaki on purpose? Love that also my sister made fun of me for years because I insisted on wearing a raincoat an carrying a composition notebook after seeing Harriet the Spy.
I love retro reviews!!! You make me remember movies from my childhood and feel like I have someone who loves them as much!!!
Arsenic and Old Lace retro review pretty please! love love love
I've been looking forward to this for MOOOONTHS ever since I messaged you guys about it. TWO OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS MASHED TOGETHER! Love you guys
adore you both! retro review of drop dead gorgeous?!
Also would be down for a son-in-law retro review. Because I love Carla Gugino. I think she is so underrated and looks amazing for her age right now and I also want to talk about her terrible blonde wig and I had no idea that the brenden Fraser cameo was his character from encino man until this year.
This is one of my guilty pleasures
Me too. Plus so 90s! Love it!
Omg finally!!!♡♡♡ yay
"in the wilderness of life we can never be to prepared "
Avryl & Andrew: Cheers.
Avyrl: Cheers!
Andrew: Cheers?
Avryl: CHEERS! (Laughing)
Andrew: Cheers! (Laughing too, when he gets Avryl's reference)
I want a RPDR runway based on costumes from camp movies (Heathers, Sleepaway Camp, Camp Beverley Hills, etc)
One of my favorite movies from childhood!
14:18 aaahh the Blanche Devereaux wallpaper
Good eye!
The Freddie is such a fun dance!
Yes! Retro review The Brady Bunch Movie!
Any chance of a really niche retro review of Hello Again? Shelley Long, Sela Ward, and Gabriel Byrne engage in backstabbing, romance, and resurrection.
I was thinking the same thing! Was the niche? I used to love that movie
Make sure to do A Very Brady Sequel as well. The romance subplot between Greg and Marcia is one of the funniest things Ive ever experienced.
Fabulous, simply fabulous. Thank you for the laughs guys.
I may have just unlocked a true conspiracy theory in TBH!! Have you guys ever considered that the girls might have charged DOUBLE for their cookies? And you guys should do an old sitcom themed episode for your podcast. I'd definitely be interested in hearing all your opinions.
I love that movie sooo fucking much! But you missed one of the best outfits! The ”Its missing a bead” dress in the beginning! 😍😍
This film did it for me as a young gay because I felt Shelly was the original American AbFab her looks her amazing personality! Ugh this film is iconic for me
So glad you guys are reviewing this movie! It's an 80s classic!
I finally "shared" this movie with my daughter, she is already 27! I loved this as a teenager! I don't know why it took so long to watch it again!
FOR THE RECORD I have been saying for years that if I had the money I would make the pastel dress for my drag wardrobe
The lead character's close friend played Sable on The Colbys(an 80s spinoff of Dynasty).🤓 Cheers is a funny show(especially Coach, the bartender).
what about the iconic tapping on the missing sequin on the bob mackie gown scene!!!!
Same Time, Next Year is one of my favorites.

Have you guys seen "the money pit"? Another fabulous shelly long movie. And the only one I've seen where tom hanks is unlikable?
Toli Bera I couldn’t stand Tom Hanks in that women’s baseball movie but, his character was funny, and Woody was also annoying. 🤷🏾♀️
Hahaha these two reviewing the movie as if they are ruviewing dragrace. “This outfit and the next outfit, they don’t understand camp”
😂😂😂...🙌🏼🙌🏼live
True story: in the 80's, my dad was a camp counselor at a summer camp in Beverly Hills, and he said it was like living in Troop Beverly Hills for an entire summer
Oh dear god - Same Time Next Year I saw with my whole family when we were stranded in OK during our move from Phoenix to Louisville in the motel behind the garage fixing our overheated 80s station wagon.
Shelly Long is an icon! All the outfits in this movie made me gay.
Speaking of sitcoms one of my favorites is Step by Step!
Ok but where's the Drag Race episode where the challenge is to sell "Drag Scout Cookies" or something scout related, and the runway is to do a different Phyllis Nefler look (a la "Night of 1000 Phyllis Neflers) and obviously Shelley Long as the guest judge
My sister used to watch this movie all the time as a kid.
Holy shit, for the longest time I did not remember what this movie’s name but omg I loved this movie when I watched it when I was little. Thank you for helping me remember!
She was in suckerpunch too I think - re: Carla?
I clicked on this So Crazy Fast! Love you guys.
YESSSSSSS SO HAPPY YOU DID THIS MOVIE
Omg please do a Brady Bunch Movie retro review!!! It’s hilarious!
this film is also super diverse before it was a thing
One of my fav movies ever. Costumes still are amazing. Still quote this movie at least once a week. Thank you!
Edited to add The Brady Bunch movie holds up. Please retro review! Also the author lady was Dylans (Luke Perry) mom on 90210.
Andrew might know Carla from spy kids as she's the mom in that movie
Can you guys do romancing the stone? or have you already done it?
Stuck inside all day doing law school stuff + this makes everything so much better! Thaaaaanks bitches!
Watch The Money Pit with Shelley Long and Tom Hanks.
You made a Troop Beverly Hills fan. :)
Betty Thomas also starred in an early 80s crime drama called Hill Street Blues. She played a cop. 😏
Yes! Please! Do a Retro Review of the Brady Bunch Movie! 🙏🏻
I have had a crush on Shelly Long forever.
I’ve given the Ronaldo scary story while camping. I got odd looks but it was worth it.
you know she ate that skunk. think about it: the first thing we is a pot over a fire and she's picking her teeth with a toothpick....... #savage
