I played NW since launch but I havent played in almost a year. I got gold cap in 2 characters doing this run over a year ago (maybe longer lol), looks like not much has changed. Your route is nice but, in my opinion, you are killing to many mobs to get out of the way small chests and it feels somewhat slow. Maybe they changed it, but I reset mobs all the time by climbing up things and also ranging them...
I often times kill many mobs unless I'm in a hurry. You can definitely take any of the loot runs as fast or as slow as you like, but I enjoy the action a lot of the time.
Also. I’m the same. I like to go mining for example but kill mobs, harvest stuff , do logging. All along the way. It’s the way I play my game. I haven’t got the goals and pressures of the end game. It’s nice.
