If you like my videos, you can support the channel here: www.buymeacoffee.com/akisherceg 🍕 Thank you! :) After my "Complete AI Guide" video, I got a LOT of requests to break that long and "info-packed" video down a bit. This video is the first of a series of videos where I will try my best to help you create a great(or at least functional) party member AI and how to put together a party based on the AI behavior. Which party members complement each other best, which ones don't work too well and which ones will completely break the game when you put them together. I will show party/teamwork videos and I will break them down step by step, to show how exactly they are using their skills to achieve maximum efficiency. All of those videos will be based on these builds that you see here. These are my favorite(in my opinion the best) AI builds for each follower; they are super effective and they never let me down. In fact, as you can see I use these AI build in my Trilogy Build series! :)
@@RSGVM Dorian? I do have his AI build in this video. It's starts at 10:38. :) I also demonstrate his skills in action along with the team in my "The Most Destructive AI party" video.
@@AKisHerceg sorry, i meant the passive abilities you mention in the description. Dorian is missing there and i was just wondering, but i can already think of some passives that are must-have.
I know my question may come a couple of years to late. But can you also mention on which stats and mastereorks we would have to focus on, when crafting armor for the companions, in order to get those builds to work properly?
I often call Blackwall "The Dragonslayer" because he's usually always the only one standing when fighting dragons and powerful beings. At least in my playthroughs.
Every time I have a question...I go to UA-cam and Google and am never satisfied until I see your video. I think I'll just go to you first from now on. You've made this my favorite playthrough (using Frost/Fire KE) and can't thank you enough!
I used to hate Iron Bull because he is too squishy in combat plus the poor Reaver AI even though I really love his banter and enthusiasm. But thanks to your guide and the Fade-touched video, I've managed to make him a good ADD now. Combine your skills guide plus those Fade-touched that give Guard on hit and 1% health per hit is an absolute game changer for Bull. Amen to you brother!
Sir, your videos are gold. By far the best videos about Dragon age are yours. Very useful and well explained. Respect for your work, it's incredibly useful. Thank you a lot!
Right now I'm running your Avenger build for my Inquisitor and going with your two handed Cassandra, Frost/rift Solas and Artificer Verric. While Solas isn't my favourite character wise, this build is killer for crowd control. Like you said in another vid, I usually role with what looks best or who I like best rather than what works best haha.
Much as its fun to experiment and figure out builds that work, its a sincere godsend having guides like this to help optimize the fun to be had in this game. ESPECIALLY with the tactics customization for companions. They tried to simpify it, but ironically made it more confusing (star vs check mark? Whats the difference?). I liked Origins methods more, gave clear cut means of Situation vs Action. To have it where i dont need to meticulously micromanage my party with frequent tactical pauses to keep them alive with every single fight, it alleviates the stress so that we can enjoy all the other aspects of this great entry in the series.
Respect for playing on mouse and keyboard. I for my life couldn't do it. In controller its one of my favorites games but on mouse and keyboard its impossible especially after getting used to origins
I found a way to make ironbull become unkillable killing machine.. 1. Build him as offensive reaver 2. Give him kitty collar (75% chance to revive after dying) 3. Build your mage to have revival spell upgrade desperate, i suggest using Viviane bcoz she is so tough like a tank so she wont die (revive friends for 10 second, and give them 200% more damage + 50% attack speed, and with only 30seconds CD time, if your mage using energy barrage often, the CD can be reduced to under 20seconds thats insane, so your mage can keep revive+buffing ironbull) Using this build, your ironbull will be insanly strong, and he cant die
I also have a similar tactic but with a different modification: 1. I gave him "Amulet of Barrier" and crafting gears with "Guard per hit + Heal per hit + Walking Fortress" Fade-touched. 2. Babysit him with Champion character (either me or Blackwall), combine with "Horn of Valor" and "Bodyguard". The result is very good in my experience, he rarely drops below 50% and always have Guard and Barrier up.
Blackwall, what a legend! Inquisitior was under leveled by 3 and companions were one level lower. I on whim tried fighting Vinsomer on Nightmare with trials (except rub some dirt on it) without any preparation as my dumbass brought a useless lightning element staff with Spirit Rune. Dragon pretty much immediately took out entire party except Blackwall. The Inquisitior is a necromancer with fire mine and ice mine which were largely useless as against Dragons they to trigger as with normal sized enemies. With basic attacks being useless as most damage was from spirit rune and both mines ineffective that only powers that dealt any damage was Immolate and Walking Bomb. Blackwall hard carried me in that fight. It took almost an hour and lost count of number Inquisitior deaths and revives. To my surprise when I was checking Blackwall's accessories the guy didn't have any equipped.
These are great! Too much to comment on here, so I limit myself to a couple of quick things- The Iron Bull build is spot on, but because his main contribution is Horn of Valor/Fortifying Blast, I usually give him a shield and collect passives from the weapon and shield tree to make him last longer. Shield Wall also helps keep him alive. And then there is Cassandra... I've been trying to get her to work as a two-hander forever, and never been happy with the results. She always ends up with major stamina issues, which causes her to almost never use Wrath of Heaven. I think the only way to get around this is to limit the number of enabled skills she can use. Like seriously, just give her Wrath of Heaven, Spell Purge, Livid, and maybe Blessed Blades/Lights in the Shadow, and that's it. Unless you have some tips for her stamina management?
Yup, IB can work well with a shield, in fact for the longest time that was my favored approach with him. But I started to prefer Block and Slash, because of its full circle knockdown. Naturally I boost Bull with W&S passives too. :) I either use the Sigil of the Great Bear on Cass for stamina or unlock Deep Reserves and use a stamina regeneration amulet. Those two usually boost her regen enough to be sufficient combined with her normal attacks. Stamina on kill amulets also work well on her. Especially the Amulet of Death Syphon.
I played the hell out of this game when it came out, but I never really grasped combos or how to maximize my parties efficiency. Still completed on nightmare, but my strategy was consumables, Viviene, Blackwell and Sera.
Watching this as I'm getting ready for Into the Abyss on Nightmare. I'm thinking Cass, Me (battlemancer), Dorian (haven't taken him there yet, and Blackwall with you Champion build, although I might switch him out. I've used him there a few times.
I'm in build crafting mode if you can't tell lmao. Sorry for blowing up random old videos but hopeful it gives you some engagement. Blade of tidarion or encore or viv if she's the only mage in my party? If I run two id definitely go BoT just to make sure she stays melee, but it's hard to pass up encore buffs especially with rub some dirt on it on.
Gear for all those Build ? i have trouble making Mages survive nightmare difficulty, mainly solas and dorian using those build i usually use solas with encore staff and max attack stats with an armor that has the maximum amount of magic i can put on and dorian i use a build that proc simulacrum from getting hit with kitty's collar amulet to proc simulacrum and then use a 1% heal on hit mastery to bring him back up giving him unlimited mana when he is in simulacrum, but they still die like no tomorrow and dorian don't really proc his masterwork that often. and guide for their gear would be helpful. Thank a lot for the content !
The stat always depends on what your teammate is focusing on. Tanks focus on Constitution, damager warriors focus on Strength, rogues focus on Cunning and Dex, mages focus on Magic or Willpower. As for gear, the best gear for damagers is the Superior Battlemaster/Battlemage/Prowler cartable armors. You can buy all three from the Hissing Wastes merchant with the Short List perk. For tanking there are a lot of good armor(also craft-able) like the Refined Battlemaster Armor/Mail or the Griffon Plate armor.
I'm the 2H tank or healer guy, even though I'm always assasin at large mmos, but always a tank in heart, I use varric as CC, Sera as dealer and viviene as support.
@@RealRaven4074 I like daggers too, but artificer is more fun, to a point late game tempest dagger gets too repetitive, reason why I'm playing dwarf, tank/templar not sure yet if keep 2h or swap for s&s.
This has been a huge help, especially the 30 minute guide I've recently watch. I started playing Dragon Age inquisition not long ago and wanted to learn more about the A.I. system and this really helped a lot! Although I wonder what you set for the Behavior, like Follow Controlled character or Defend Controlled character or themselves? Thank you!
Follow controlled character(if archers are set to follow themselves they are usually stay in one place so that can be good for them), use all stamina/mana reserve and drink 3 hp at 30% health. Tanks can drink 5. :)
@@AKisHerceg Oh, thank you for the fast reply! Definitely subscribed! I'm on my first playthrough with my Reaver Two-handed warrior. I have Viv, Dorian, and Varric as my companions. Will definitely keep note on the follow/defend behavior. I'm also watching the other guides of yours! Finding stuff on what to do with a reaver as well, but at least I got my Companions to be more useful than before!
@@AKisHercegwhat do you mean by tanks drink at 5? Have them stop drinking at 5 potions? Or have them drink potions at lower health? Thanks for the great video!

Hi, thanks for the videos. I'm new to Dragon Age Inquisition and so it's very hard to play even on normal difficulty, so your videos helped a lot to understand the basics of the game. I have a question, I would be grateful for an answer. Will there be a big difference if I use the Sera build on Varrick? And will the Varrick-Cole-Vivienne party work if I'm playing assassin with two daggers? Thanks!
@@scrawny_ronnie7 I prefer him with dual daggers, because when I use melee, he stays close and spreads Toxic Cloud everywhere to cover me and the rest of the team with Elusive.
@@AKisHerceg fun fact, something with black wall causes elemental mines to fly. Not sure what it is, but can confirm (not every time it still flys on some random really rough terrain) that he causes it a lot
@@scrawny_ronnie7 Elemental Mines do that when someone is trying to block your attacks. They are basically blocked, but the animation makes it seem like they fly away. This effect does not have a range, so an enemy can block 20 meter away and your mines can still fly away. Pretty silly.
@@AKisHerceg oh awesome ! I didn't know that. Just recently got back into Inquisition while waiting for The Veilguard. I'll definitely check out your other vids, thanks !
Thanks for doing these, but it would be easier for me to understand if you showed the skill trees as well. Just showing how you set up the active skills in kinda confusing for me.
How is it confusing you? I think it is obvious that in order for you to have these abilities and their upgrades(also in the video) as active, you need to unlock them first. So the skill tree is obvious based on the skills you need as active skills. :) So let's say you see the Static Cage with the Lightning Cage upgrade, then you go to Strom tree and unlock the necessary skills in order to get Static Cage. How you get there is up to you, since it will not matter in terms of viability - passives only help. So with the passives, you can play around. If you are looking for a more detailed video about the AI, check out my Complete AI Guide video. If you are looking for good passives skills, you can check out my Best Passive Skills video. :)
@@AKisHerceg Basically its mostly the things left unsaid, should we be getting all the passives in their specialization tress or do we just go for the shortest route and pick up passives elsewhere, also sometimes the way you have the skills listed makes it so there's 2 ways to go forward to get them, but which path is better? For a novice its not thorough enough I guess. I'll check out your other videos for sure, especially if you do one about passives they are the ones I am most confused about what is actually worth getting.
@@chaosroninx5175 I understand. :) This video is for people who already kinda know the game and they are just confused to what to put on the AI because they always end up killing themselves or perform poorly with their active skills. It is definitely not detailed enough for someone who is completely new to the game. Yes, I definitely recommend that you check out my Best Passive Skills video along with my Complete AI Guide video and many of my build videos, where I talk about passives skills in detail. But here is the summary of the most important passives for your team one by one - usually for a specialization, you want to pick up every passive skills so I won't list them down: Blackwall: all passives from the Weapon and Shield tree, Trust of Steel and Untouchable Defense from the Vanguard tree(you will unlock them anyway when you need to pick up Livid and Bodyguard). Cassandra: Flow of Battle and Guard Smasher are the two most important passives from the Two-Handed tree, then you can get Trust of Steel and Untouchable Defense from the Vanguard tree and Deep Reserves from the Battlemaster tree. Sera: Pincushion is the most important passive from the archery tree along with Looked Like it Hurt from the Sabotage tree. The rest is whatever you feel like picking. They all help. Solas: Strength of Spirits from the Spirit tree, Clean Burn and Flashpoint are also useful from the Inferno tree and Mana Surge, Frost Mastery and Winter's Stillness are also needed. Varric: Just like with Sera, Pincushion is the most important passive from the archery tree along with Looked Like it Hurt from the Sabotage tree. The rest is whatever you feel like picking. Easy to Miss from the Subterfuge tree is very helpful for all rogues. Vivienne: Clean Burn, Flashpoint, Ice Armor, Mana Surge, Pyromancer, Conductive Current - this build can be found in my "Frost/Fire Crusader build" video, I recommend you check it out for more details! Cole: Pincushion, Looked Like It Hurt, all passives from the Archery tree. Easy to Miss and Ambush from the Subterfuge tree. Iron Bull: Even if you go Two-Handed, it is worth picking up some passives from the W&S tree(they work regardless of what weapon you are using), like Turn the Bolt and Bear Mauls the Wolves. Other than those, naturally you need Flow of Battle and Guard Smasher from the Two-Handed tree. Coup de Grace and Deep Reserves(you will unlock them anyway when you go for the War Horn and the Horn of Valor) from the Battlemaster tree, Trust of Steel and Untouchable Defense from the Vanguard tree(you will also unlock these on your way to Livid and Bodyguard). I guess that would be it. The rest is up to your preference. Let me know if you need more help. :)
I'm pretty new to the game. I plan on playing as a Rift Mage, and plan on having Blackwall, Sera, and Vivienne. Sorry if this has been mentioned or asked somewhere, but do you have recommended gear for those characters? Gear as in armor, helmets, weapons, rings, belts, all that kind of stuff. If this has been answered or if there's a video about this, please feel free to just redirect me!!! I'm sure it can be frustrating to repeat stuff, so I don't mind just being told to look somewhere else lol I'm pretty bad at playing games, but really love good storylines so I've been relying on your videos! You're so knowledgeable, it's so cool!!
Yup, I do have videos about great gear. :) I usually craft, so that is what I recommend for you too. Check out my Favorite Weapon Schemtaics video. Those schematics are awesome for you and your party as well. As for armor, the heavier the better on warriors, for rogues you need lots of leather slots and for mages you need a lot of cloth slots. Best armor schem for rogues: Superior or Sturdy Prowler armor - you can buy them at the Hissing Waste Merchant. Mages: Superior or Sturdy Battlemage armor schem. It's at the Hissing Waste merchant as well. For Warriors I go with the Griffon Plate armor(sadly you can only get this as a faithful Inquisitor and you have to forgive Ser Ruth after Adamant) and the Refined Battlemaster armor. You can get this from a Fade Rift from the Jaws of Hakkon dlc in the Frostback Basin. Good luck on your journey! :)
I hope you still look at these! What build and specialization did you select with the archer build you were playing as in the last part of the caustic build. You were rolling a ton and spamming abilities. It looked fun! Did you enjoy it and how's the dps?
Been following your guides as i play. played SS warrior with a dagger in DAO and then force mage in DA2. Which would you recommend to play if i only have time for 1 playthrough (first time DAI player). Currently on the warrior and am now level 8 but unsure if i will stick to it seems slow? Trying mage atm (just started) but i kinda like being in the thick of things. Any suggestions? Thank you!
If you want to continue as a mage, all you have to do is pick the Knight-Enchanter specialization and you can stay in the frontlines. Check out my Frost/Fire Crusader mage for a kick ass KE build! :) If you play as a Warrior, I recommend the Reaver as a first time playthrough(since you like being fast). Since this is your first time, make sure you have Regeneration Potion fully upgraded, get Axe of the Dragonhunter, and just Dragon Rage the hell out of everyone. For the beginning, use, Charging Bull, Combat Roll, Pommel Strike and Mighty Blow.
I don't suppose you'll make more videos like this for da2 or daO? I'd love to see what could be done when you have more control on the tactics. In da2 I made it to where almost all my companions where able to set up and finish combos for days but I'd be interested in what they can do at their best
Love these videos! One question, are the skills listed in "priority order" in this? So that for leveling post-skyhold, should grab the skills at the top and work down the list?
Hello! This video helped me a lot to improve my characters. Now it is much easier to play the game. Can you share what you used for recording the gameplay and with what settings?
Hello it’s me again with questions this time for this video I think I saw some comments about what you would recommend for crafted armor but can I ask what stats you would recommend I focus on for each character And I’m regards to weapons I’m guessing I can just go off of your best crafted weapons video And if I use the Frost/Fire Crusader and have Cassandra with the Divine Avenger build what other 2 companions would you recommend to round out my party
I recommend Blackwall and Varric or Sera. As for stats, Blackwall - Constitution Iron Bull - Constitution Cass - some cons, but mostly str Sera, Varric - get them to at least 50% crit chance the rest is Dex Cole - Dex Dorian, Solas, Vivienne - Willpower.
Back to DAI after a couple years and finished a couple of nightmare runs. This time with the enhanced party strategy i checked a couple times if i were really playing nightmare seen how easy the game was ;) Good job, really, and wondering if with a correct party is it possible to have the game play almost in full auto, just starting attacks, closing rift and doing dialogs.
Yes, it is possible. I have two team AI build up where I don't move a muscle. One is a full warrior team and the other is a team of rogues. Both team survives in most situations without any interference from me. :) You can try searching for them on my channel: The "Vampiric Backup" - this is the title for the rogue related video. The "Golden Army" - this is the title of the warrior related video.
@@AKisHerceg Given a look at the rogue team,; impressive and on nightmare with all trials enabled. The problem would be reaching level 20something, once you have the full tree of abilities, handcrafted weapons and armor with masterwork the game is easy unless you do really crap things. The real challenge is probably doing Champion of the Just and In Your Heart with a lvl 10 party obviously without using the golden nug.
Hey, I like your videos. Do you mind giving me an advice? I'm about to start my first ever nightmare playthrough and im in a bit of a pickle. I want my party to be Dorian, Varric, Bull (they're the only ones I never had in my party) but I heard Bull is a really bad tank and I dont want my Inquisitor to tank either as I hate playing a tank. I was thinking i could maybe go Knight-Enchanter with Andraste amulet and kinda tank with it? But I just played KE on hard and idk if i wanna do it again, still better than playing a tank though. Or maybe I could go without a tank? I imagine it would be pretty hard on nightmare with no tank but you know better than me. What do you think I should do? Would the builds you showed in this video work for my party in this situation?
Dorian can be a good support, and Varric is amazing no matter what you make him do(you can make him a support as well and you can be a damager Artificer - with the added cooldown reduction from Varric, you can kick so much butt). Bull can be a decent tank with Shield Wall favorited along with Horn of Valor and Livid. Just forget his Reaver spec. :)
@@AKisHerceg That's kinda what I was thinking about bull, but I wanna make him reaver because I never played a reaver before so i wanted to control him from time to time for fun. Do you think if I copy your builds here for Varic, Dorian and Bull, will they work together well?
I have builds for Cole if you want to use DD. In fact I have builds for an entire group of DD rogues if you are interested. They basically solo the game for you. :)
Question: I noticed that Cole was an archer assassin instead of dual blades and Cassandra wielded a two-handed weapon instead if the sword and shield. Could you explain your reasoning behind these choices? I really appreciate the out-of-the-box thinking of your builds. I'm currently playing as a tempest archer rogue (level 18) so I made Sera a dual-dagger, but I've built everyone else according to type.
Well, anything is great in the player's hands, but since most people find tanking a bit dull, I would say the Champion Warrior Tank is the safest to leave it up to the AI. It will tank anything without effort - evidenced by Blackwall's refusal to die. :) The Rift Mage is also great, Solas can lay down some awesome crowd control for your Warrior/Rogue. Assassin, Artificer, and Reaver are really the best when you take care of the job. In fact a Reaver using AI is nothing compared to what a player can do. :)
I was not playing DA:I for like a year. After watch your videos I am starting all over again and I am enjoying the game a lot more now. A question, about behavior for AI, follow tank or controlled char? And MP reserver for mages with Bear Sigil? thanks
Solas can do fine with that, but I prefer not giving Lightning spells to my Rift mages. They kind of messing up the mana leech that the Rift Mage is famous for(lightning spells remove the weakened status so you can no longer leech mana from them). So I would give fire spells instead of lighting, if you are planning on utilizing the weakened mana leech. Yes, Varric will definitely go closer to the target with Throwing Knifes, since that skill has a close-medium range.
@@AKisHerceg oooh that makes sense… dang okay im a huge fan if lightning spells but that makes sense. With the knight enchanter build im using theres not really space for them. I guess i could take away the fire spells and just have solas use them instead.
scrolled through some comments - but unable to find the answer atm. what does it mean when you write +1 Full draw, or +1 Arcane barrage or what is was called? :) thanks for the vids tho - your awesome
Reserved Mana/Stamina is always 0%. I usually give 3 potions to use, but after their build is complete they rarely touch them - especially with Trials on, since that way potions are useless. Only in special cases I change the behavior as well, which is almost always Follow the Controlled Character. :)
Just curious... what tactics do you have for everyone? Is it situational or do you have all ranged characters "follow themselves?" Seems however I set it, my archers and mages want to be tanks and get up close and personal
This depends on what you give them. For example, you can set up Vivienne to follow herself, but if you favorite Spirit Blade, she will get close no matter what. Make sure you only favorite skills for your ranged party that they can and will use at range. Still, sometimes they ignore it regardless(the AI was not exactly built well in this game), so make sure that they can still hold up even if they get a bit too close to the enemy. Use Toxic Cloud, Horn of Valor and Barrier on your support guys and that way you will have no problem keeping them alive, even if they accidentally get into melee range.
@@AKisHerceg toxic cloud is glitched for me. The elusive effect/noise never goes away. But the rest I'll give it a try. As always, thanks so much for the response! Have a good one
Im confused for the cole part i dont see any of these red highlighted abilities did they change something since this video? Not only that but how do i get him to use the bow abilities without having a bow?
The red abilities are coming from his Assassin specialization. You unlock it by taking him with you somewhere after you reach Skyhold. So just get him in your party and his specialization will unlock and after that, you can get those skills. And yeah, get him a bow as well. You can buy one of craft one.
Great video, but how can you skill at blackwall and iron bull so, I'm missing at iron bull 6 skill points, he is level 19 and at blackwall 2, he issuch level 19. If you are to skill everything as described in the video
Who would you recommend for a rift mage? Id rather not go all support like you had in your vid but as long as the combo is fun I'd be down for any group
Rift Mage can work with anything. Still, I recommend one Tank, one Support and one Damager. For a badass team, I would pick Blackwall as a tank, Sera as a damager, and Vivienne or Solas for the support. :) If you pick Solas, with two Rift Mage you could really do some nasty thing to the enemies, or if you pick Vivienne, you can place a few offensive spells on her so she can keep herself alive without any help from you.
Hi, I've returned with another question about Dorian. As I've seen a lot of videos about Dorian build that mainly focus on abusing his self-revive skill in Necromancer tree and I find that pretty OP to be honest, and I would like to ask if the "Terrifying build" would pull out the same performance just like that too.
For a Necromancer to self-revive, all you need is the Kitty’s Collar amulet and the Simulacrum passive. It could work with the build if you get the passive, yes. However I don’t like that amulet because it gives way too much penalty to damage resistance, which makes the Necro extremely fragile.
@@Humphrey345 Yeah, if you want. Mana/Stamina: 0% Behavior: follow controlled character. If yo want them to stay far away make them follow themselves. Potions: 3 - tanks can drink 5. Health threshold: 30% :)
When you have a skill that either came with character or was a prerequisite that you don't list as "Enabled" or "Favorite" (like Caltrops, Leaping Shot etc})-do you "disable" it?
There really isn’t much to describe. He is just using his special focus ability “Hail of Arrows” with Leaping Shot. He can kill a dragon in seconds with it. :)
@@jackaqab6700 Well, focus abilities are not like normal skills. You have to wait for a long time for them to recharge. I usually don’t even pick them up, but here with the dragon, I just favorited it along with Leaping Shot so Varric literally couldn’t use anything else, so he ended up just spamming Leaping Shot. Which killed the dragon. Hail of Arrows is a single target nuke skill, so you just have activate it/favorite it before your Varric enters a boss fight along with Leaping Shot and it will do its job. It is not recommend to just favorite it because he would keep activate it randomly.
I've tried your Sera build and holy cow, she single handedly carry like 40% team damage in a single combo lol. Also I want to ask you about defend skill for Sera; does she need it and if she does then does Stealth + Clinging Shadow and Easy to miss is a good choice for her? Since I'm the main tank of the team so most of the time I can control the aggro well but with trails turned on, sometimes things can go out of hand henceforth I want Sera to defend herself.
Glad to hear it! :) Yup, of course. Easy to miss is great, along with Evade if we are talking about defensive passives. Stealth with CS also works well. But I would say that generally the dual dagger Sera would be better off with the other upgrade of Stealth, depending on how fast she cools down, because Flank Attack with Skirmisher automatically puts her into Stealth. So she does not need Clinging Shadows if she recharges fast, because she can spam Flank Attack(auto Stealth) and Stealth.
Non nightmare? I have no idea, I have never played the game on any other difficulty, so I assume my AI builds work on lower difficulties as well. I have self-sufficient AI builds, you can check them out by typing "AI build" in my channel's search bar. Feel free to pick any of them. :)
If you would show a skill tree for each one, that would be amazing :) But you probably won't do that, so I'll just ask. Other skills that are not on the list (favorite, enabled) are they disabled? For example, Blackwall's Grappling Chain and Challenge.
Hey random question and sorry if this may be offensive but does "A Kid Herceg" have a meaning? Or is it like your name, or a name u made up? I'm just curious but u don't have to answer if u don't want to of course. Also how long have u been playing and what inspired u to make yt vids about the game? I dont know your time zone(and I'm not asking that's personal) so u may be asleep but whenever u have the time can u maybe answer some of these questions I would just like to know more about this channel
AKis Herceg is hungarian for The Little Prince from Exupery’s novella The Little Prince. I used to talk a lot with others about the game and one day I wanted to show that you can solo the Ravager under a minute with a Rift Mage(people claimed that you can’t solo dragons or that it would take forever with the RM). After that people kind of kept asking me about the game and started requesting videos, so I started regularly making videos about games I like. :)
@@AKisHerceg Oh ok thx and sorry for the late response my phone died but that's really cool. And now I think I see why u show your builds off against the ravager so much. I honestly never thought the other classes mage and warrior would be that fast at dragon solos I always thought rogues were the only ones but after seeing all the great builds on this channel I'm feeling like anything is possible. I especially love how u make your champions fast killers because I always thought they were only good at survival I'm really enjoying your vids so far and I look forward to seeing what other excellent ideas you show. Your really my inspiration when it comes to playing this game ice seen u do things I can only dream of and I know it takes a lot of work. For now I'm really good from taking your advice and ideas but um nowhere near your level I don't even think i can call myself a pro yet. The highest dmg I've ever done wasn't even wasn't 100k. I still have a ways to go but your channel has helped me greatly. Sorry for the long text but thx again.
Thank you this is perfect just what I was hoping for but I'm on a lower difficulty so I think I can get away with having bull have more reaver spec but thanks this is great
I think I want to run both Sera and Cole as duel wielding. Your Cole build seems to suggest an archery build from the skills. Can you suggest some specific equipment for these two based on the dual wield roles I want them to roll with? Do you suggest making a set of armor and weapons to swap back and forth or should I individualize them for each party member? I’m currently level 12 and struggling with having enough resources for armor and weapons for my entire party. Any suggestions about harvesting decent tier 2 metals, leather, and cloth that can fit the needs for my full team?
Great timing! I just finished ironing out my new AI team build: Cole, Sera, Varric -all dual-wield! They are literally unstoppable! :) I will put the video together soon - probably the next 1 or 2 days. But until then, yes, I do have some suggestions. if you are level 12 and you are brining Cole and Sera and struggling: Quickly for high tier: if you have the Black Emporium, then Coiled Strike schematics can be wonderful for any dual-wield rogue. You only have to buy it once and two of your party member's weapon is covered. I think it's 7k in the shop. The other great dagger I would suggest is the Stone Stalker Blade, which required the Descent dlc, but it does not cost any money, all you have to do is run around the deep roads and open chests. Superior Prowler armor is naturally the best, but the Sturdy version is just as good(and you don't have to wait for that random chance for it to shop up in the Hissing Wastes shop - it's always there). Pretty expensive though. I used the Griffon Mail schem. on my dual-wield trio(which is a good armor, but significantly weaker) and it worked like a charm. The best/easiest(pre-Skyhod) metal for tier 2 is the Obsidian in my opinion: it is easy to farm with a rogue, since you can sneak around the dragon in the Hinterlands if you are careful. That is how I always get my tier 2 metals for blades and warrior armor. A Fade Stepping mage can also work. The boat behind the dragon has quite a few obsidians and the surrounding area also has lots on the walls. Get Stealth, and get Toxic Cloud with the Lost in the Mist upgrade for your rogue - the Elusive will keep you safe from the occasional Fireballs that might hit you incase you are flushed out of Stealth. You can have so much Obsidian this way, since you can just return any time and collect them again, you can make a fortune here if you sell them too. A bit tedious but its worth it. If you are past Skyhold, then just farm Snofleurs. They give tier 3 leather(get Emprise Du Lion and you can farm them infinitely). If not, go for normal Bear hide. With good fire spells and a few good backstabs it can be easy to farm them. Hinterlands is a good place to farm them. You can find Lustrous Cotton from Hinterlands Bandits, which can work until you get to the better materials(your first Dragon killing which will give you Dragon Webbing or the special cloth that you can find in the Frostback Basin). And you can always buy materials from the Black Emporium if you have the dlc. Al you need is some money. :)
I just had to tell you that I took Sera along with my version of your golden knight build to emerald graves. I gave her tier 2 materials superior prowler armor and two stone stalker blades. With just those four skills you suggested she is a total killing machine. I have a hard time engaging the enemies because she is faster than me. I have Dorian and Solas for the fun banter and their builds are also very effective with Sera and my character. You are a genius with your skill suggestions. I’m really having fun and even took out the dragon in Crestwood but Verric, Dorian, and Solas all went down in that fight. I finished the dragon off solo. I’m going to bring this group to the hinterlands and take out that fire dragon. I’m curious how this crew does in that fight.
Hi, I'm new to this game. Could you please suggest which passives I should take for each of these party members? I'm a qunari mage and my party right now is Blackwall, Cassandra, Varric and me.
Cass and Blackwall can both use these passives for great benefits(these are the best imo, I always pick them up for them): Bear Mauls the Wolves - immune to flanking Turn the Bolt: 50% ranged resistance Turn the Blade: 20% melee resistance Flow of Battle: cooldown reduction after crits Untouchable Defense: increases maximum guard For Blackwall, get every passive in the Champion tree as well. For Cass, same thing - except the Last Sacrifice. It's not that good if you intend to keep her alive. Varric: Pincushion: +5% dmg after every hit building up for a 10 sec duration. It can cause huge damage. Looked like it Hurt: stamina gain after critical hits. Easy to Miss: threat reduction From the Artificer tree, get everything, but most importantly: Opportunity knocks: cooldown reduction after critical hit - this basically allows you to spam your abilities if you have high critical chance And take them down: +5% critical chance. These are the ones that you should definitely pick up for them. :)
Even though this video is on after everyone has their specializations unlock and using said skills would this still be viable build and work for pre skyhold or is your other video named complete ai guide would be viable instead
The AI Guide covers every ability that can be used by the AI. From that video, you can build your own AI based on what skills you can use. Those skills cover early, mid and late game.
@@AKisHerceg ik it's off topic but I was trying to finally do an assassin build and your slinger and Shadow caught my eye but I'm having trouble trying to do it what is your whole setup for those two builds?
@@laffywaffy1989 What do you mean by setup? If you mean gear, then I have a 10+ minute long video about the Slinger, where I go into detail with both the skills and the gear. The title is: "The "Slinger" Assassin build vs Saarath, Gurd Harofsen and the Ravager - Dragon Age Inquisition" For the Shadow, I basically used the same gear as the Poison Assassin. Superior Prowler Armor schematics, and double Coiled Strike daggers. Reach around 50% crit chance, then boost nothing but crit dmg. You gear should focus on nothing but to improve your crit dmg.
@@AKisHerceg yes I was talking about gear sorry wasn't being more clear I will next time yes gear wise like sigil, masterworks, materials, rings, belt, amulet for you shadow build
I don't know if I'm missing something or I'm just dumb as a bag of rocks but how do I actually get builds from this? I'm currently level 12 on nightmare and starting to really struggle so I was checking out this video. I know what skills Cassandra e. g. is supposed to end up with at god knows what level but how do I get there? Do I take any upgrades? What attributes etc. are important for her gear? T_T I'm so lost
This video is about complete builds for your AI party members, not a "how to build up your team from scratch". :) It assumes that you already have a high level team, but they are ineffective in combat. I recommend you watch my Complete AI guide video on this topic. There, I took the time to actually present each and every skill that can be effective with the AI. All you need is to have an idea about what you want your party to do, and create your AI build based on the skills that work with the AI well. For example, if you want a damager AI next to your main character, check what skills work well for a Dual Dagger Rogue. At low level a Double Dagger rogue's best choice is Stealth and Flank Attack with the Skirmisher upgrade. This keeps them safe and allows them to do damage. Then pick up Twin Fangs and Deathblow as you progress. As I said, you just have to see what skills work with the AI based on my AI Guide video, and pick whichever you want. :) Some quick suggestions: At low level any party can use AI mages who focus on Winter spells. Winter spells give great Crowd Control. Winter's Grasp, Barrier, Ice Mine are basically what I give to my AI mages every time I start a new game. With two mages in the party, enemies will do nothing but get frozen and get shattered by cross-class combos. For Warriors, it is best to give them a shield and the Shield Wall skill early on. Plus as many threat provoking skills as possible. War Cry, Challenge etc. Just by doing these two things(designate a tank, give it threat and Guard creating skills and get a mage with Winter spells and Barrier), you have successfully managed enemy threat by making them attack your tank, and you also made sure that they won't destroy your tank since your mages provides great crowd control and support. This party already works well with a damager main character(any rogue basically), and a melee focused crowd control character(two-handed warrior). It also work well with any mage who focuses on damage. Frozen targets can be blasted with Immolate, and Fire Mine for massive damage. My channel has lots of videos about this topic, I recommend you check them out if you have the time. :)
Thank you very much. This has been a great help. I'm a rogue myself (archer) and running Cassandra, Dorian and Vivienne and I've been able to progress comfortably for the past 3 or 4 hours. It's still slow but I'm not dying my way through the game anymore. And I just got the item for my artificer spec @@AKisHerceg
For Sera’s Archery build you mainly showed her using Flask of Lightning and treated it as her main ability, so why is it enabled whilst Flask of Fire is the ability that’s favourited? I only ask cause I’m running this build from her and I don’t think she’s using Lightning at all.
Well, to me the way it works is like this: Sera uses Flask of Fire coupled with Throwing Blades so she can spam it. While they are on cooldown, she can activate Flask of Lightning and shoot her arrows. The reason why you favorite Flask of Fire and Throwing Blades is because you want her to use Flask of Fire FIRST, THEN Throwing Blades. If they are favorited together, to me she gets it right most of the time. Lightning Flask is enabled because after she is done spamming her blades, she can just activate it and shoot. If it does not work for you(let's say a glitch or different patch or something)then just simply favorite Poisoned Weapons and Lightning Flask for her. :)
What would be a good support. I can't use Vivienne because she became divine and can't use solar for plot reasons 🤣( I'm doing the decent and jaws at the moment
You are playing an older version. For you it should be called “Unbowed” and it functions a bit differently. It does not give damage reduction based on enemies, it only gives Guard which is kinda useless since you already have WarCry. So you can skip it.
If you like my videos, you can support the channel here: www.buymeacoffee.com/akisherceg 🍕 Thank you! :)
After my "Complete AI Guide" video, I got a LOT of requests to break that long and "info-packed" video down a bit.

Every time I have a question...I go to UA-cam and Google and am never satisfied until I see your video. I think I'll just go to you first from now on. You've made this my favorite playthrough (using Frost/Fire KE) and can't thank you enough!
If only Lightning Flask worked like that for us, it's one of the few [if not the only] skills that is blatantly better when the AI uses it.
Thanks, man! Just started the game for The 198254 times, these AI Will help me tô have fun!
You are welcome! Don’t even stop until you reach 200000. :)
This is so true 😂
I used to hate Iron Bull because he is too squishy in combat plus the poor Reaver AI even though I really love his banter and enthusiasm. But thanks to your guide and the Fade-touched video, I've managed to make him a good ADD now. Combine your skills guide plus those Fade-touched that give Guard on hit and 1% health per hit is an absolute game changer for Bull.
Amen to you brother!
That is great to hear! I am glad you are having fun with Bull now! :)
I'm loving all your Inquisition guides! Hope to see more of it when Dread Wolf releases.

Sir, your videos are gold. By far the best videos about Dragon age are yours. Very useful and well explained. Respect for your work, it's incredibly useful. Thank you a lot!
Thanks! :)
Currently playing this . I really appreciate your guides. Thanks a lot. 👍🏾
Glad it helped you! :)
Respect for playing on mouse and keyboard. I for my life couldn't do it. In controller its one of my favorites games but on mouse and keyboard its impossible especially after getting used to origins
Thanks for the video. Replaying DAI after years waiting for dreadwolf to come out
i am replaying the game to get ready for dragon age 4 and this guide really helps.
I found a way to make ironbull become unkillable killing machine..
1. Build him as offensive reaver
2. Give him kitty collar (75% chance to revive after dying)
3. Build your mage to have revival spell upgrade desperate, i suggest using Viviane bcoz she is so tough like a tank so she wont die
(revive friends for 10 second, and give them 200% more damage + 50% attack speed, and with only 30seconds CD time, if your mage using energy barrage often, the CD can be reduced to under 20seconds thats insane, so your mage can keep revive+buffing ironbull)
Using this build, your ironbull will be insanly strong, and he cant die
I also have a similar tactic but with a different modification:
Always love seeing people find cool ways to bring bull along. I love him but I adore blackwall so I never get to bring him along much
After I finish my Mass Effect Insanity trophy run, I will try to 100% percent DA Inquisition with these tips
I'm just here to say that your videos are really inspiring to me. Keep up the great work! ❤
This was great! I was wondering if you have a video of the equipment for each build!
@@AKisHerceg Thanks! Those are great ideas for Cassandra- I will give them a try.
You are good at this!

So let's say you see the Static Cage with the Lightning Cage upgrade, then you go to Strom tree and unlock the necessary skills in order to get Static Cage.
This video is for people who already kinda know the game and they are just confused to what to put on the AI because they always end up killing themselves or perform poorly with their active skills.
It is definitely not detailed enough for someone who is completely new to the game.
Yes, I definitely recommend that you check out my Best Passive Skills video along with my Complete AI Guide video and many of my build videos, where I talk about passives skills in detail.
But here is the summary of the most important passives for your team one by one - usually for a specialization, you want to pick up every passive skills so I won't list them down:
Blackwall: all passives from the Weapon and Shield tree, Trust of Steel and Untouchable Defense from the Vanguard tree(you will unlock them anyway when you need to pick up Livid and Bodyguard).

Yup, I do have videos about great gear. :)
I usually craft, so that is what I recommend for you too.

If you play as a Warrior, I recommend the Reaver as a first time playthrough(since you like being fast).
I can do more, sure. :)
Love these videos! One question, are the skills listed in "priority order" in this? So that for leveling post-skyhold, should grab the skills at the top and work down the list?
Not really, no. You can pick them pretty much how much you need them. :)
Hello! This video helped me a lot to improve my characters. Now it is much easier to play the game. Can you share what you used for recording the gameplay and with what settings?
I used Fraps. I set it up to 30 fps, other than that, I am not aware of setting up anything else. :)
Thank u for this.
No problem! :)
Hello it’s me again with questions this time for this video I think I saw some comments about what you would recommend for crafted armor but can I ask what stats you would recommend I focus on for each character
And I’m regards to weapons I’m guessing I can just go off of your best crafted weapons video
And if I use the Frost/Fire Crusader and have Cassandra with the Divine Avenger build what other 2 companions would you recommend to round out my party
I recommend Blackwall and Varric or Sera.
As for stats,
Blackwall - Constitution
Iron Bull - Constitution
Cass - some cons, but mostly str
Sera, Varric - get them to at least 50% crit chance the rest is Dex
Cole - Dex
Dorian, Solas, Vivienne - Willpower.
@@AKisHerceg ok thanks that helps a lot
Back to DAI after a couple years and finished a couple of nightmare runs. This time with the enhanced party strategy i checked a couple times if i were really playing nightmare seen how easy the game was ;) Good job, really, and wondering if with a correct party is it possible to have the game play almost in full auto, just starting attacks, closing rift and doing dialogs.
Yes, it is possible. I have two team AI build up where I don't move a muscle. One is a full warrior team and the other is a team of rogues.
Both team survives in most situations without any interference from me. :)
You can try searching for them on my channel:
The "Vampiric Backup" - this is the title for the rogue related video.
@@poatrykdas Yes, they should work fine. :)

Late but if I were to make Cole a dualist could I replace any of the Archery with any certain Double Dagger perks? Such as Twin fangs or Flank.
I have builds for Cole if you want to use DD. In fact I have builds for an entire group of DD rogues if you are interested. They basically solo the game for you. :)
Question! In Cole's chapter, does he need a bow for his A.I. skills to work properly?
For this one, yes, he needs a bow.
Nice video , from your experience whats best class / spec to be played by the player and what best to be left to the AI
Well, anything is great in the player's hands, but since most people find tanking a bit dull, I would say the Champion Warrior Tank is the safest to leave it up to the AI. It will tank anything without effort - evidenced by Blackwall's refusal to die. :)
The Rift Mage is also great, Solas can lay down some awesome crowd control for your Warrior/Rogue.
Assassin, Artificer, and Reaver are really the best when you take care of the job. In fact a Reaver using AI is nothing compared to what a player can do. :)
This may be a stupid question, but is it correct to assume that any active abilities you do not list for each build is set to "Disabled" in Tactics?
Yup. :)
I was not playing DA:I for like a year. After watch your videos I am starting all over again and I am enjoying the game a lot more now. A question, about behavior for AI, follow tank or controlled char? And MP reserver for mages with Bear Sigil? thanks
I always make them follow the controlled character and their reserves are always at 0. :)
How would solas do with a rift/cold/lightning mix? Was thinking barrier, winters, stone fist, pota, energy barrage, lightning bolt, static cage?
Also, if i gave varris the throwing knives would that force him to him too close into melee range to use them?
"+1" means "additional" or "optional". :)
Thanks for the video, this is really helpful. How do you set up their behaviours? I.e. - follow/defend, stamina/mana use etc.
Reserved Mana/Stamina is always 0%.
I usually give 3 potions to use, but after their build is complete they rarely touch them - especially with Trials on, since that way potions are useless.
Only in special cases I change the behavior as well, which is almost always Follow the Controlled Character. :)
@@AKisHerceg Thanks!

Those are full builds. They are at level 27.
If you pick Solas, with two Rift Mage you could really do some nasty thing to the enemies, or if you pick Vivienne, you can place a few offensive spells on her so she can keep herself alive without any help from you.
@@AKisHerceg would solas be worth it as he leaves after the story? Makes me sad:( is he worthy of the emotional trauma haha?
@@The-Policy-Puls He will be fine until you finish the main story, after that, in the Trespasser you can pick Vivienne.
@@AKisHerceg Tyty, that's very helpful xD.
@@AKisHerceg i have a question....should i change the Behaviors too (Mana/reserve etc) for these builds?
@@Humphrey345 Yeah, if you want.
Mana/Stamina: 0%
Behavior: follow controlled character.
Yup.
Can you describe Varric's first set of abilities (with Dragon fight)? I don't see in the video :)
There really isn’t much to describe. He is just using his special focus ability “Hail of Arrows” with Leaping Shot. He can kill a dragon in seconds with it. :)
@@AKisHerceg This focus ability working well with Varric's AI?
Yup, of course.
@@AKisHerceg Tks for your tips, I’ll keep that in mind :D.

Cole is better as an archer than dual wield?
@@ArcticSounds Usually it’s safer for him, but he is okay at being both.

No.
If you would show a skill tree for each one, that would be amazing :)
But you probably won't do that, so I'll just ask. Other skills that are not on the list (favorite, enabled) are they disabled? For example, Blackwall's Grappling Chain and Challenge.

I will put the video together soon - probably the next 1 or 2 days.
But until then, yes, I do have some suggestions. if you are level 12 and you are brining Cole and Sera and struggling:
Quickly for high tier: if you have the Black Emporium, then Coiled Strike schematics can be wonderful for any dual-wield rogue.
@@gnauenburg2018 Awesome! Thanks! :) Yeah, Sera always makes sure that I have fun even if I don’t play as a high damage class. She is a monster. :)

Hi, I'm new to this game. Could you please suggest which passives I should take for each of these party members? I'm a qunari mage and my party right now is Blackwall, Cassandra, Varric and me.
Cass and Blackwall can both use these passives for great benefits(these are the best imo, I always pick them up for them):
Bear Mauls the Wolves - immune to flanking
Turn the Bolt: 50% ranged resistance
Turn the Blade: 20% melee resistance
Flow of Battle: cooldown reduction after crits
Untouchable Defense: increases maximum guard
For Blackwall, get every passive in the Champion tree as well.
For Cass, same thing - except the Last Sacrifice. It's not that good if you intend to keep her alive.
Varric:
Pincushion: +5% dmg after every hit building up for a 10 sec duration. It can cause huge damage.
Looked like it Hurt: stamina gain after critical hits.
Easy to Miss: threat reduction
From the Artificer tree, get everything, but most importantly:
Opportunity knocks: cooldown reduction after critical hit - this basically allows you to spam your abilities if you have high critical chance
And take them down: +5% critical chance.
These are the ones that you should definitely pick up for them. :)

For the Shadow, I basically used the same gear as the Poison Assassin. Superior Prowler Armor schematics, and double Coiled Strike daggers. Reach around 50% crit chance, then boost nothing but crit dmg. You gear should focus on nothing but to improve your crit dmg.

It assumes that you already have a high level team, but they are ineffective in combat.
Some quick suggestions: At low level any party can use AI mages who focus on Winter spells.
