I love how Judith blends in and stands out at the same time. Her natural warm clear voice has so much quality in every aspect… It always touches me how she stands there so casually hands on her hips in her red 60dress. There’ll never be another Seekers😢

I was born in 1955. Trust me when I say that as you dive deeper and deeper into 50's, 60's, and 70's music, you will find a virtual cornucopia of multi-talented singers and musicians from every genre of musical entertainment imaginable, every cultural, national, socio-economic, racial, etc. background in the world. From those three "magical music" decades alone, you will never run out of amazing reactions! And The Seekers with sweet, charming, angelic, gifted Judith Durham were among the very best! They were to Australia what Karen & Richard Carpenter were to the USA! And what both were to their respective countries, they became to the whole world! Great reaction, sir! And, sadly, you are absolutely spot on about the decadence and lack of decency in today's so-called "music" (and in almost everything else for that matter).

Fantastic harmonies. You must try another Seekers song. They knocked the Beatles off the top of the charts in the early 60s. Géorgie Girl, the carnival is over, and their final concert decades later with We are Australian. All gobsmacking hits.

Judith's voice is stunning - of the ilk of a Karen Carpenter. Effortless, pitch perfect, warm. She was classically trained. The Seekers were HUGE in Australia but also were very successful on the international stage. Their harmonies, Judith's vocals and their beautiful instrumentation were their trade mark. RIP to our Judith.

NICE HAT!!!! The song "Massachusetts" was written for The Seekers by the Gibbs but it never got to them through their manager for some reason but when Mo died they did a beautiful version of it as a tribute. Judith had an amazing voice and also that rare quality, a natural vibrato. Her vibrato in "Plaisir D'amour" is lovely. She was about four foot nothing with a six foot powerful voice. Loved this Aussie band. They were HUGE in the 60's with songs like "Georgy Girl", "A world of our own" and "Morningtown Ride", all worth a listen (HINT). A friend of mine grew up in the circus with the bearded ladies and the whole bit...REALLY...and her favorite is "The Carnival is Over". All great songs. Hope you can eventually do more of their songs. Worth the wait. 😊😊 No worries.

OK, this song was a HUGE number 1 for them. Take a second to appreciate the enormity of what they did. They knocked The Fab Four off number 1 in Britain, at the height of Beatlemania! They had a string of huge international hits, and a couple of number1's.
Judith is held by many, of her peers as the greatest female voice ever. Oh, and they had only been in England under 6 months when this song blasted onto the charts. Written by Dusty Springfields brother, Tom. Their first Album also went number 1 internationally, keeping The Stones Goatshead Soup in number 2!
One last thought, THAT little red dress, wow! Judith was an absolute gorgeous stunner!

The Bee Gees I think were still in Australia when The Seekers were at their peak. They wrote Massachusetts for The Seekers, but for some reason it never got passed onto the them, so they recorded it themselves. Many, many years later, The Seekers found out and did do aversion of the song.

Hi, Chad: It's such a joy to see someone who has never heard of the Seekers react to a group that we grew up on. It brought the tears. Your next song by them should be The Carnival Is Over. I would love for a reactor to compare the composer's version to the Seekers' version but that will never happen.

Judith's voice is very beautiful as well as her personality. The song tells us about not leaving someone's company without giving their name, however the song tells us that it tells us about the promised land and that it doesn't matter if she loses everything since what she cannot lose is who accompanies her. It refers to Jesus and some consider the song a gospel.

My favorite song, esp with Judith Durham's voice. One song that might reach up to the emotions of this song is "Every River" but not the Brooks and Dunn version, but the one from the original composer, Kim Richey on her first album. The band is the A Team of Nashville studio artists and the aforementioned song's lyrics are akin to that of the "I never find another you."
    Every River
    chorus
When the day comes that I don't love you
Every star will fall out of the sky
And every mountain will tumble down
    And every river run dry
    [Verse 2]
    Every drop of rain
    That ever touched the ground
For every tear that ever fell
    And never made a sound
    I'll be there
    To hear you call
And I'll be there to catch you baby
    Should you ever fall

Judith Durham had an exceptional voice. A jazz ballad singer at heart, she took a chance as a youngster and joined these folk guys on a cruise ship gig to England, which led to all their lives changing forever. Most of their hits were written by Dion O'Brien, aka Tom Springfield - Dusty's brother. Tom and Dusty were two-thirds of folk trio, The Springfields, before Dusty Springfield left to pursue a career singing Soul and RnB ballads. So it's like Judith and Dusty did a house swap.

I love the Seekers, Chad! Thanks for this reaction. I think you would really really enjoy this later-in-their-career performance of I Am Australian (not an anthem but should be). Love the words, love everything about it: ua-cam.com/video/KrLTe1_9zso/v-deo.html

Oh so so many number 1 hits .... There is a video out now that they recorded from their 'farewell concert' Their beautiful performance of "I Am Australian' just brings tears to my eyes still. Judith is seated because she was recovering from a milk stroke...but her voice is flawless and crystal clear. You will be moved even as a non Australian I promise you. ua-cam.com/video/DjSiWAwvWGU/v-deo.html

Hello justlinsu, and thanks for the feedback. However, I believe the link you provided is of John Farnham, not Judith.
