    I love your positive attitude and your can do (and will do) spirit. It's only a matter of time and you will be camping in your van with all the "cute" things you have in mind to decorate and make it work for you. Till then, take the best of care and always be true to yourself. Ciao Bella!

    The beauty in your channel is the absence of fancy or pretentious anything. Hell, you've already won the genetics lottery and don't need makeup or jewelry. Who needs that stuff when you have raw natural beauty and power tools!!! Most women in the U.S. would never take out a battery, or fix something, or build something... Refreshing to watch actually!!! Ok... I'll stop smiling now... LMAO...

    I have an '03 Odyssey that I use as a tow van, and also took out the seats for a bed to sleep in. This is my 2nd one and I'm about to buy a 3rd. 1) The rear lower control arms are common to go bad and are important to replace if they are bad because you will wear out the inside of your rear tires, especially if there is weight in the van. 2) There should be a button to turn off the electric sliding doors. Grease the rollers top and bottom and just shut them manually and it will save you a lot of trouble. 3) Make sure the coolant temperature sensor is good because it can give a false reading if it's not (it happened to me) and it's a cheap replacement. Also if the headliner by the top of the window gets wet in the rain, seal around the roof rack and water channel. Love the channel, I'm interested to see what you do with the van! Good luck!

      Yup, had to replace the lower control arms on my '01 awhile ago. It was clunking over uneven terrain. Also had a right axle failing. So all that plus an alignment. It was around $2400 USD. Thankfully firestone has a credit line.

      I have a V6 Ford Freestar and no way would I try to use it as a tow van. I can't back up a trailer anyway so I wouldn't tow a trailer with a big pickup, hate driving with trailers period.

    • @julbm

  • @3rubberboats

    Get a little grease and put it where the rollers ride on the track will allow the door to move better. Or use a little WD-40 silicon lubrication works also. Sometimes the clunking noise could be the sway bar bushings have dried out and need to be replaced. Overheating causes: Lack of water, bad thermostat, clogged radiator or the fan is not working. Thinking van life will be good as long as you have everything you need. Good choice with trusting the mechanic that you trust. Thanks for sharing and have a great day.

    when life gives you lemons you make lemon aide...
    think about a rad flush and new coolant, clean your motor to see what maybe leaking, probably just a hose. run a can of injector cleaner in a tank of gas and after some Sea Foam fuel cleaner. then change your fuel filter. as for your sleeping prob, how fancy do you want it. my old winter beater i used a thick foam or even a old cot. hope you figure it out and be ahead of winter.

    A little tip if your car starts overheat turning your heater on flat out can help get the heat out to keep it moving

    • @stephenstrohacker7863
      @stephenstrohacker7863 2 роки тому +2

      I was hoping someone said this or I woukd have. It does get mighty warm in the vehicle when you do this but you did just turn on the second radiator to dissipate the heat quicker and give you more time. Do NOT rely on this and it is emergency only to protect the cooling system.

  • @buddycarmine2254
    @buddycarmine2254 2 роки тому +15

    From my experience the best way to set up your van, is to say in it a few weeks before you do anything to it. That will help you figure out where you want stuff that will work the best for you. On your side door not shutting all the way clean off the sensor when they get dirty it will do that . Good luck with everything you will enjoy it once you get it set up.

    Rear brake pulsation is likely a warped rotor. Easy fix to replace. Needs both rear coil springs & shocks apparently. Needs new sway bar links, also an easy fix. Power steering leak is likely a hose. Steam clean the engine compartment when you steam clean the inside to get a better look at things & assess where the leak originates. New rear tires, pretty self explanatory. If you know someone with a welder see if they can weld a larger nut onto the rear toe adjusters to break them free (extreme heat from the welding & more torque from larger nut is high probability of success).

    Have the cooling system pressure tested most mechanics have a device that fits on radiator cap location and pressurized the system, check if electric fans run . What I did was get a foam mattress as large as the area of back of van , you can roll it back up when not in use, Love your vids😁

    What's cool about you is that you're not afraid to get your hands dirty. Nothing funner to watch that a girl with a tool. You're real and don't hide anything, which I like. Too many UA-camrs only post the good parts of life, but that isn't real life. You show real life and I like that. So... you think you're a good backer-upper? Can you back up a boat, or a trailer, without stopping? If so, you just added to your already large number of Browne points in my book! Come to California, I need a boat backer-upper! LOL

    You should have a plastic bottle connected to your radiator to add coolant to. You should not be adding to you radiator cap. The plastic bottle is for overflow. When the engine needs coolant, it sucks it from the bottle. When the coolant gets hot it expands and dumps back into the bottle. If you overheat and are losing coolant, you can safely add to the bottle even when hot. This is all considering you don't have a leak, which you may have. Hope this helps.

    Great update. Here's your 2nd opinion 100% backing the first. In order: 1. Deal with the overheat issue. 2. PS Leak. 3. Front sway bar links (these are likely what you feel and hear- Have a friend with a torch do them- takes minutes) 4. Rear brakes- These are prob where they heard the "noise" and identified the rotor runout. Check both bearings while they are apart. Run your hands around the tire circumference and feel for lumps- If they are there as noted on the W.O- get replacement's. Also- having winter tires is not a failure... Don't worry about the rear alignment any time soon or at all unless it is out a country mile. Rear shocks- someday when you have extra $$$ or if it bounces REALLY bad after hitting bumps. Singed- a Red Seal certified Canuck mechanic who left the trade but still has a bitchin' set of tools ;) Cheers

    Hey, Good luck with the van build and sorting out those teething issues. Love your Dads idea with the couch, just a bit too big and too tall? But it may give you some ideas to make something similar...Hope all goes well Juliana 👍🏻

    Layla did not figure out to stay away from the electric fence. Cow don't have any problem staying away from the fence, they will eat grass within a few inches of the fence.

    Hi Juliana, you can do this, I'm praying that everything works out for your good! The Trailer looks nice! The Van, I think you should make a box with drawers. It would be so much easier. Or just make a twin size frame and use little cubbies under it for your clothes and things. What ever you decide it will be perfect. 💕

    I don't know if someone already suggested it or not, but, why not cut about 5 inches off the bed box?. You'll lose some storage but you'll be able to sit up with more head room. Good luck! Great video as always.

    Cut the insert from front to back, Put a hinge so one side will lift, and you can have access to all of the storage underneath. Make a slide out bed, and you will have even more storage in the box . I would guess that you can make it 4 to 6 inches lower than the box you have, To allow for the thickness of your mattress, and the height of the sliding boards.

    Looks like the mechanics gave you a bit of a to-do list. Seems strange that it would be overheating unless the thermostat has gone out. That shouldn't be too tough and can be somewhat common with older Hondas. Lots of space back there now with those seats out! I can see the plan coming together.

    Hey Juliana,
    Great video and I'm glad you're getting the van sorted! It might seem a little daunting now but trust me it's stuff that would normally be general maintenance and stuff that if the car wasn't just sitting probably wouldn't happen some of it. Once you've replaced what need replacing and fixed what needs fixing it will for sure be a really reliable car. Honda's are generally a solid car engine wise etc. Fix any minor rust issues yourself before winter! Grind back to bare metal treat with anti rust and rust converter, zinc prime and spray it yourself with colour coded rattle cans it'll look better it'll match the colour of the car and you can order them fairly cheap online to match the paint code with a Wide fan nozzle to it goes on better.. it'll save a big repair bill down the line..
    As mentioned before definitely change the tyres and brakes. If it's leaking power steering/fluids etc, given the age,best to just change all the hoses, as they'll be perished. Then nothing leaks. If the plastic bottles are cracked replace them also. (You can get cheap replacements online).
    (Brake lines/master cylinder check by your mechanic friend they're not corroded/perished,you don't want brake failing!) Also plus in a diagnostic check for codes that'll tell you if sensors are bad!
    Sink looks great and fridge freezer looks great also. You've definitely got loads done! Good video! As mentioned, your natural genuine approach, beauty, personality in your videos are great! Love how "real" you are, so could watch your projects all day your videos always put a smile on my face/brighten my day! Have a great week!!
    Cheers from London x 👍😎🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

    Thank you for the great video and update on everything. Honda oem t-stat only for that van otherwise it may continue to have issues. Same thing with the power steering fluid. Either Honda fluid or one made for Hondas specifically. Never use a universal fluid.

    Hello, you are doing great. Yes. Problems have popped up but you are rockin it. Great ideas about working on the van, getting that were you are comfortable. Hey, could these be another project where you will have 4 places to live? Then again it could sell this van for a profit, unless you want to keep her in the family. I have said it once and I will say it again, "you are one strong woman". Not many people are coming close to doing what you are doing and accomplishing. Good luck with the van and stay as sweet and strong as you are. Hey, missed seeing your bro as the co star as much as we have seen him in the last videos. You are lucky to have a great circle of family and friends. Your dad id funny. Have a great one. be safe. PEACE!!!
