    Welcome! Today's map is continuing the Solar System theme started two weeks ago: it's VENUS!!! The map was made using real life elevation data released by NASA, on which I ran a number of erosion algorithms before plugging it into the map generator to add climates and rivers. I hope y'all will like it! ❤️❤️❤️
    Development is still somewhat on hiatus, and is going to stay that way till sometime in July at least. So the simulator is mostly the same from last time. However, the map is awesome, and I have plans for more solar system maps coming up in the coming weeks! Hope y'all will stick around to see them!
    And as always, thanks so much for watching, liking, and subscribing! All the activity these past two weeks have just made me even more eager to get back to serious development in a bit over a month! Love y'all!!! ❤️

    I have an idea, what if you use Titan but keep the sea coverage the same, so civs would build up around the polar lakes and would absolutely thrive.

      Ohhh, that's an interesting idea! I'll have to see if I can find a good enoguh height map of Titan, but I'll look into it. 👍

    from what i can tell, Sarais did not appear in the leaderboards until 5070, then within 500 years conquered the world.
    also shoutout to the Kingdom of Rabari who had 2 really long lasting lineages. Myrtos XXXV and Jahyun XLIV, was hoping they’d make it far to see how high the numbers would get

    i highly suggest you put the ranking number for each of the top 30 polities somewhere on the map so that they can be easily found

    Really enjoyed some of the more agglutinative names in this one. Was rooting for Nifariquipampa!
    Also it was cool to follow Kin of Tolberg from its appearance around year 100, through all its growth and unions for the next couple thousand years. It disappeared from top 30 in the 2700s, but reappeared around 2950, and even hit the top three again in the 4100s as a Republic (which is what that caught my attention and made me backtrack to trace its full history). Was hoping it would last till the very end of the video, but alas it seems to have disappeared for good by the 4400s after getting slowly eaten away by its neighbors (I believe Tharto ate the last of it).

      Thank you, that's so cool! Yeah, the simulation uses real world languages for its name generation, including various agglutinative ones 👍

    Try a completely flat map in a much higher resolution and try to see if you can stress test the simulation

      The Simulator really isn't designed for that, I'm afraid. It would just run increasingly slower till it crashed due to memory errors. These things are a trade-of, and I'm designing it for high complexity, but that means it can't just run on anything cuss each tile requires too much resources to simulate. 😂

    Controlling a huge amount of disconnected territory across almost every continent? Capital on a tiny island? Seems like Sarais is this world's british empire

      Never shall Sol be said to set on the Sarais Empire, and besides it only gets like one chance per year to try anyway.

    Hey what exactly is an exarchate?

    • @FWHSimulator
      @FWHSimulator  3 місяці тому +5

      In real life, an Exarchate is a government whose head of state is titled an Exarch (the same way a Dictatorship is run by a Dictator). The term comes from classical Greek and there have been various different uses of the term and title throughout history, some military, and some religious.
      It is the religious usage that I use it for in the simulator. Governments are divided into either monarchies or republics, and then for each there are plutocratic, aristocratic, and theocratic government types. Currently there's no mechanical difference for these later types, only monarchies and republics are truly different (monarchs rule till they die, but republics elect their rulers for set terms and then have new elections).
      TL;DR: An Exarchate is the highest level attainable for theocratic monarchies. The other two levels are Eparchy (the lowest) and Archeparchy (the mid-tier). What determines level at the moment is just size. So, kingdoms become empires if they get big enough, and similarly Archeparchies become Exarchates when they become big enough.
      Hope that explains it! 👍 The names for different government types aren't entirely historically accurate, but especially for theocratic governments I wanted more neutral-sounding (in English) terms. So I avoided using something like "bishoprics" or "caliphate" since those are heavily associated with real world religions. At the moment there's no religion mechanic in the simulator, but a (fantasy) religion mechanic is high on my list of major features I want to be adding when I have time again. ❤

    How do colonial empires decide if to turn a estate into a colony or something else? And are there puppet goverments?

    • @FWHSimulator
      @FWHSimulator  3 місяці тому

      Colonialism, in this simulator, is specifically a mechanic that enables with modernization (white technology on the bar). It's not super complicated, modernising states will make colonies out of non-modernized states, and are able to attack across oceans to do so.
      There's a puppet government mechanic for colonies, but I'll admit it's kind of basic right now. More a placeholder for when I develop that more than something that's very impactful in the current version. 👍
