I know he said that he likes it better when someone with a higher voice sings it but i think its better now not only because of his voice but because i feel like it's something he can look back on and realize that he has had so many positive things happen to him and he doesn't have to worry about some of the things that made him so sad a few years ago.
It's not just that it "sounds better" when it's singed by someone with high voice. It happens that everybody has a vocal range. Vocal range is basically wich notes you can sing comfortably, and wich you can't even reach (can be low or high notes)

I like both versions in a different way.
I like the old one for many reasons, it's a higher pitched boy, like me, and if gives the feeling of sadness to feel miss like a grievance for something you've lost, like a childhood.
This sounds like exacting what it is. A past memory you've overcome and you're better now. But, there are times when you feel just as bad as those sorry depressive days. You're better now and you can feel better now.

I liked getting to hear this re-recording because I think it's a nice way to document your voice. BUT the old version captures the intention it was written for. But there is something extra special about getting to hear the line about it taking too long to sing your song in your lower register. I think that line with the lower register after having listened to the original on repeat recently just emphasizes the original message in such a unique way

Always loved the asthma attack line - I have asthma and have had quite a few asthma attacks over the years and the first time I had a panic attack I didn't know what they were so I assumed it had to be an asthma attack.
