One of the biggest reasons I switched from XT2 to the XT4 was the record limit. On the XT2, it was 15 minutes and only 10 minutes for 4k. Also the XT2 made separate clips every 4gb. It was really annoying to deal with this. Sure I could have bought an external recorder and bypassed this but I didn't want to have all that just for a once in a while UA-cam video. So I got the XT4 that solved all that. It's so much better, made my life easier. But now the file sizes are massive 😂
Thanks for this video. It suited my needs perfectly. And I have a problem that maybe you also had and solved. I have Atem Mini Pro ISO which has the ability to write to the connected SSD drive, only that both my X-T3 and X-T4 bodies only transmit a 1080 signal when I switch them to 4K to the HDMI output, Atem does not show the image and the Fuji screens have the inscription "Device not compatible with current 4K settings". I tested on various cables that with other devices release a 4K signal from Fuji. I can't find a solution anywhere. Both Fuji and Atem have the latest firmware. And Happy New Year! 🙂
The problem is recording multiple 4k inputs on to a single SSD would be an ENORMOUS amount of data coming in. Record directly onto a card in the camera or use a 4k capture device before going to the Atem Mini. Thankfully you have the ISO model, so you can record a 1080p and use the 4k you recorded (^that I just mentioned) to substitute the footage, but keep all your live switches and edits.
This taxation issue has long been resolved, camera makers unlikely to update the older models to enable >30mins recording due to marketing. They don't want to cannibalise their newer model that do not has this issue.
OBS for Windows works great to record and stream live. You will need a capture card like Elgato. This setup works great for our church. Thanks for the video! Blessings!
o.k. then it is possible to bypass the recording limit with the Atem Mini and Fujifilm X-T4 but does it also work with any other cam like the Sony Alphas?
Thanks for the video! Quick question - although I have an xt2 not 4 - but by recording through quicktime and the Fuji webcam app it won't do it in 4k right? At least I can't seem to make it do it in 4k. Any thoughts on this?
can i record to external ssd via hdmi to usb-c from my Fuji XT4 to an hdmi monitor (Feelworld F6) w/ pass through into an ssd? or does it need to be an actual external "recorder" like ninja.
@@ScottDawson I think the external recorders have processing and coding situations that do what the camera would do if recording to and internal SD card so my guess is that it must be an external recorder meant to accept proper video data.
why can't camera companies just set a record limit when they are shipping to different countries and after purchasing, user can upgrade the software to remove the time limit. 😋
IMO it's just a conspiracy. First guys get taxes, 2nd guys set bigger prices for not so much more advanced cameras. Did you've knew that 40Mp resolution in Fuji APS-C matrices isn't real actually? They just need some improvements which can't be done that easily every year... But you easily can rise up (or remove and call it vlog camera ))) ) limits for every next camera, make "AI"-improvements )) A lot of pure marketing stinky substances.
Why would I do this. I'd rather get a GH5 which I can record unlimited to the cards. Fuji should allow unlimited recordings like Panasonic. Total dealbreaker for me If I'm limited to 30.
Yeah, I am hindered by it :-S. I mostly do audio recordings of live concerts and music exams and so on. More and more people would love video with that and most of those are more than 30 min... Until now Iv been able to borrow some basic video cameras(Zoom Q8) but that camera has terrible video when the lighting is anywhere less than spot on perfect... Any fancy stage light and the video is terrible. I love the image quality of the X-T4 so stupid that its recording limited. Especially when supposedly that EU tax limit was supposed to be started to be phased out during the summer of 2019......... And buying an Atomos Ninja V is kinda stupid for me, a lot of money for a LOT of pro features I wont ever need in my usecase.... Also since I use a desktop pc and not a laptop, dragging that with all its equipment is also not really practical...
Could you run a hdmi - usb adapter to an ordinary ssd? Just want to bypass the time limit without investing in a monitor /recorder which I really don't need. Cheers.
another way to bypass this is a hack firmware, the recording time is in the firmware and if you know how to program you can edit the firmware and update it with the one you edited. now i know what your going to say don't trust a hacked firmware it could cause a crash but it's not a big deal if it's done correctly it won't crash, in fact in the firmware there is a location for the recording time and 29.59 in the firmware all you have to do is change that number to 0.0.0.0 and it's unlimited nothing else changes so there is no reason the firmware is a risk. Pretty simple and easy..
@@chuckm482 Well it depends you can search the Internet for one sometimes people will want to create a firmware hack for themselves and then share it or you can ask a programmer and pay him to do it
@@ScottDawson well you would need to find a firmware that is hacked download it like you would download a firmware update from the manufacture site, only your getting it from who ever hacked it. Then you apply the firmware the same way you would if you got it from the camera manufacture website update area.. NOW what you want to do is find a hack firmware that is the latest firmware that was hacked so you got the latest firmware only hacked version. Now another way is to do it yourself, download the latest firmware from the website copy it to your computer, and you can find a binary editor on the internet and edit the firmware you downloaded, using the binary editor, now you got to be careful with this because binary is numbers that you would change and you have to change the numbers in the correct location, so the part that tells the camera time to stop recording you would need to change it to 0 so it will just keep recording or you could put something crazy like 9999 minutes that would be ok because your not going to ever record more then 9,999 minutes of footage that is over 166 hours and you would run out of space on your media card before it reaches that.. But 0000 works the best.. They are documentation and instructions on where to edit this firmware it will say what line and row to edit and what to put there but again be careful because if you get off by one space it will crash your camera and you will have to send it in to the manufacture to re-burn the chip.. Not all Camera manufactures do that, but i know NIKON and SONY are 2 companies that hate hackers and will black list you if they catch you. Not sure about fujifilm.. I would assume they are strict too but you never know.
Wish they would do a firmware update to remove this on the X-T4, I film weddings and 30 minutes just isn't enough.

The ATEM Mini Iso’s are “only” 1080p devices. They don’t receive nor record 4k.

What about the overheating issues ? I can’t decide if I’m good with Atomos Shinobi or I need Ninja V for the XT4 - rigging 😓🤔
Haven't had any problems with overheating.

Happy to help!
When running the webcam option I get fullHD resolution but extremely poor quality, flicker and no F-log... using the fuji-app and OBS software.
Even less when you’re living in Mexico. Too hot here. Been thinking on the xs20

Nope. 1080 only it seems like when using as a webcam.
I think 30 min is plenty long. But my problem that I sold my Xt3 and I just use my xpro2 and it’s only 10 min, and that is way too short.
Which one is the black magic model that records with an Sd card? I can’t find it 😭
The pro version records to USB or the ISO version records the individual feeds.
Is it possible to bypass the 5 and 7 minute videos and record only 45 second shorts with this limitation? ;-)
I'll do 30 in a row.
would this work with the x-s10?
It should. Thanks for watching!
So why do they cripple the camera for everyone else?
Know I know what's in those books behind you LOL
Knowledge.
It's ridiculous, even old Nikon DSLR can automatically start recording after it reaches 29m 59s.
Does this work on the X-S10?
It should. Thanks for watching!
I had been scratching my head about why getting off 4K still didn’t give me more than 29 mins recording. Thank you for solving the puzzle.
Why don’t they just only cripple the cameras that go to EU?
