    I really enjoy your videos, Liam. And I appreciate your reviews of both the Sigma 150-600mm and 100-400mm DG DN OS lenses. Personally, I decided the 150-600 is a larger/heavier lens than I want to carry in my backpack so I picked up the 100-400mm this week. For the past 3 years I've been carrying only a Sony 18-105mm APS-C or 24-105mm G OSS (FF) lens, so I'm looking forward to extending my reach to 400mm. Thanks for the lens suggestions and keep those landscape & wildlife videos coming. Happy trails!

      @@raphofthehills4405 A7r3... And I'm going to have to rent it again. It poured rain on my weekend so I didn't get a chance to play with it landscape-wise. I did play with it at a wildlife rescue and it performed as good as the 70-300... Possibly better. Again because of the weather and blowing rain I really couldn't swap out lenses and really compare. I did love having the extra 100mm for some swans and bear shots.

    The videos are coming along nicely. I’m impressed, especially considering it was just a few weeks ago that you started. 2 things. 1. I’m a big fan of how you film yourself putting gear in the back seat as well as climbing into the driver’s seat. IDK why but it’s a cool touch. 2. This may not be your thing but would consider making a video on how the most inexperienced folks out there (such as myself) can take the leap past iPhone only photography without spending a fortune, but while also not throwing money away on junk? I’m personally looking for a compact setup that will take photos, and maybe some video to the next level. Just a suggestion. Cheers!

      I have no idea but I kinda doubt it. If you need more reach SIGMA does have a 150-600 C lens that is much smaller and lighter than the S version...check that one out.

    Hi Liam, since you mentioned being a Sigma ambassador, I thought I'd ask you a question: I just got my copy of this lens yesterday. I'm using on my A7RM2 (firmware 4.0) and I'm completely surprised by the fact that the Eye-AF function doesn't work (I get the "Invalid with the lens" warning). Other reviews (all using A7M3) say that Eye-AF works fine... Could it be related to my older camera or firmware. I've also noticed that the sharpness of all my shots isn't anywhere close to those I'm seeing on various reviews. I haven't seen any comments about there being bad copies in circulation, and I've been fortunate to never having had a bad version for any of the many other lenses I use. Any thoughts ?

    • @liamdoran2149
      @liamdoran2149  3 роки тому

      Hey Steve...bummed you are having issues. I am not sure why eye af would not work...I suppose it could be that fact that its an older camera. Regardless, it should be totally sharp...I would contact Sigma/Sony and whoever you bought it from and see whats up? Best of luck!

    • @Subfrequenz
      @Subfrequenz 2 роки тому

      Hi Steve, did you have any joy with the sharpness? I have noticed it helps waiting a second before taking the shot. I half depress the shutter and it seems to allow for the stabilisation to settle. Had more keepers. But your experiences would be good to know! Thanks

    Considering to buy my first telephoto for landscape photography. Having a hard time choosing between this lens and Tamron 70-180 2.8.. It's aperture vs reach at the end.

    • @liamdoran2149
      @liamdoran2149  4 роки тому +1

      If you need the 2.8 for portraits or low light go for that.. If you want the reach of the 400 for wildlife, sports and long lens landscapes go with this lens. They are very different pieces of glass to be sure.

    • @petrh.4947
      @petrh.4947 4 роки тому +1

      Knowing that Tamron 70-180 2.8 will come it was one of the reason I switched to Sony. But now 70-180 is too expensive, for landscape too short, no OS, no tripod mount. Sigma for landscape could be very good. F5 is not limit as you must go ver F11 for landscape to get depth. For now I omit 70-180 as I have 28-70/2,8 and 85/1,8.
      Once Sigma is available I need to check it and compare with rented 100-400GM .

    I've got it on order and it'll be going on a new A6600. I had DSR version on a Nikon D500 and really liked it but missed the longer focal length and while it was sharp it wasn't as sharp as with the Nikon 200-500 I got but that was a year ago and now I am back looking for lighter gear etc. My Sonly setup will weigh aprox half of the Nikons 7+ lb! Is this your lens or a loaner from Sigma? If yours I'd really like to see some more critical comparisons and assessments.
