I just purchased a Sony ECM-LV1 two channel lavalier in hopes of using it to record on my smart phone but can't get the phone to pick up the audio. Thanks Brian. I'm considering to buy an extension cable for my Deity Mirco and use it as an overhead boom mic. but I may need to connect the mic to iPhone (trrs) or Camera (trs) and sometimes my computer for zoom call. Which extension cable should I use? Can I just buy one TRS-TRRS for both iPhone and Camera? what will happen if I plug this TRS-TRRS to camera? i dare not to try it myself😅
I came across this today as I was looking into jack plugs. How come a TRS cable from my Ipad headphone socket going to my guitar amp Aux input works but not if I use the same headphone socket to and audio interface 1/4 input socket doesn't. Scarlet 8i6?
My case is other way around, using with phone and computer. They have TRRS type. I accidentally got a TRS (both end) extension cable, spent an hour to figure out why the mic wasn't work on the Zoom app. I Google TRRS and find out the difference between the two. You can see the cable/plug has either three or four bands representing TRS or TRRS. Four bands have the ability to carry Mic, left and right speaker channels plus a ground. TRS three bands can carry two signal which is usually just two output (speakers) or one Mic input.
Terrific! Very clear, and settles this once and for all. I think there's something that might be happening to some people, that almost happened to me! When you click on a link, maybe even the one from your video I saw today about booming a microphone, the link takes you to an item on Amazon... But when you follow the link, in my case the item in Amazon by Cable Creations is a TRRS cable, and NOT a TRS cable! I had to go and look again -- which is how I came to this "settled once and for all" video. I had to try repeatedly in Amazon before it took me to a TRS and not a TRRS. Once I took out "Cable Creations," I was able to find a 10' Hosa TRS cable that will fit my needs.

Nice. I really like the clear comparisons between mics, mic positions, etc. Does the Rode mic with the TRRS cable put out balanced 1 channel, or unbalanced 1- or 2 channel audio? Those TRS/TRRS cables make me concerned about picking up EMI over longer distances. (TRS: Tequila, Rum, Seltzer...)
Seems to me the TRS cable would be a mono cable. The TRRS cable would be a stereo cable, and a TRRRS would include the mic. But that's apparently not the case. So what is a mono plug (one actual ring) called? Is the "tip" one of the "rings?" Thus a mono cable would be a TS cable?
Do TRS-TRSS do all functions of TRS-TRS? My Lavalier Mic has a TRRS pin, its working fine with both Smartphone and DSLR. For connecting Zoom H1n, If I buy a TRS-TRSS cable, does it work with both Smartphone and DSLR? Is there any chances of not working or losing quality?

Q: Can you make a video similar to this one , but for Why I’d put my cable into the headphone jack and then into the microphone jack on my DSLR Camera and exactly the type. Of ends this cable should be?
Thank you for your assistance
I'm wondering how you sync up video audio time when your switching mics like that?
I am a bit confused. Why would a microphone like the MOVO pro come with a TRRS socket if the audio just works one way there.
You can record sound but you can't really listen to anything with it unlike with the headphones.
Finally found the video I was looking for
I have a sennheizer shot gun mic that has only TS 3.5mm and I want to use it with my pocket 3 what adaptor do I use?

Any ideas where I can buy a shorter TRRS tomTRRS cable than the one that comes with the Movo VXR10 Pro?
I want to use the RODE Mirco GO for my pc stream, so I need a TRS to connect to the mic and the TRRS connect to the pc right? and excellent video btw
Great sound in your own video. What lav mic are you wearing and how is this connected to your audio recording device?
It's the Tascam DR10L lav system.
@@AudioforContentCreators Very kind of you. ❤️
10' is the max for a 3.5mm cable before you run into problems.
Can I record from one cell phone to another with a cable? Let's say I want to record a UA-cam video onto my other phone so that it is in the voice recorder on the other phone. I would use a TRS on the phone with UA-cam and a trrs on the other phone to my voice recorder and it should record the audio right.? And if so can I buy a cable with TRS on one end and trrs on the other end?

How do you split a wireless mic signal from a 6.35mm to USB C phone and a 3.5mm camera?
Thank you for your explanation. I own a rode wireless go ii, in which, the transmitter has a trs in port for lavaliers. The one I have (boya by-m1) has a trrs jack . When I connect the boya lavalier to the rode, I need to set the switch of the boya to camera, so that I can get audio on the rode. Will this harm the rode in any way? The sound seem similar when using just the rode or both but I'm affraid if I'm doing the right thing.
if i connect TRS TO INSERT on mixer and i roved 5 mm can the insert change from insert to be direct output
If a computer has a devoted mic input, with a mic symbol next to it but no specific colour, is that still TRRS, or might it be TRS?
If TRRS is for laptop and PC, why Diety Pro 3 sound ok when recording on the phone, but when it is connected to the laptop it won't record anything? I'm reconsidering buying an extension to connect it to my PC/laptop because recording on phone is uncomfortable
great video thank you very much, quick question though, can you plug a TRRS cable into a TRS input? would that work or no?
Same question here.
What if my phone has no aux port so i use C type to aux extension. Will the presence of that extension corrupt the audio in any way ?
Samsung(no aux) ~ Ctype-to-aux(female) ~ tRRs-to-tRs ~ 🎤
what about if we put TRS cable into TRRS jack? did we get any problem in sound?
Computers have TRS only not sure why anyone would think they are they would use TRRS. As a PC have sound cards that use a headphone out (green coloured) socket and a Microphone in (Pink coloured) socket. I just bought a set of headphones that have come with TRRS 3.5 mm jack but all i get out of it is static or left side then right side then no sound and then it goes through that all again. I have a TRRS to TRS cable to split the microphone out but still no joy. Is there 2 different TRRS connectors ?
Ps very helpful video though. Thank you
Does this mean we can connect any TRS mic to a smartphone with a TRS to TRRS cable? Or is a TRRS mic always going to sound better with a smartphone?
My issue is that I have TRRS headphones that I want to plug into a TRS socket on my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 BUT the headphone's TRRS jack is 3.5mm and the Focusrite socket is 6.35mm! 🙂Crawling the net for an adaptor!
ABSOLUTELY the best explanation i have found on utube thanks subbedu
Helppp, I have a tascam dr05x and use it for motovlogging. I noticed there’s some hissing, cracking, and popping. Is there anyway you can help me fix this problem 🙏 thank you so much
I just ordered the trrs, I been wondering why my mic peaks on my gaming pc.. hopefully using a trrs will fix my problem as I was using a trs before
