It is. At least in the past (old game lore) it was described that Thargoids were easily able to rip a human appart with their bare claws while conventional weaponfire had nearly no effect on them. Yay! :D
Im gonna take a guess and say not a single actual living thatgoid has entered our galaxy since the virus was used on them, and all of their ships sense then were unmanned. Makes sense they wouldn't want to risk bringing back a disease like that to other galaxies accidentally while rereating again.
Or finding out that all the staff has been infected with some kind of thargoid virus and now they are zombies trying to attack you, I don't know, I just imagined it hahaha.

Unfortunately a thargoid field shut down my SRV and I couldn't dismiss my ship in time. I tried "recover to orbit" and now the game crashes every time I log in... :(

Kinda weird tha the recover option doesn't work, I tried it and it didnt work for me. Btw you can also dismiss your ship when just on foot, and the ship actually ignores the pulse if you're not in it, and will jump out just fine.
@@cmdrHeliaxx verifying the files and stuff didn't work, but I opened a ticket with Frontier and managed to get things fixed. Now that there are post-thargoid systems with abandoned settlements, salvage will be easier
If you want to raid abandoned settlements in general, go for systems with Infrastructure failure. I also like to bring a power regulator to power up the base, so I don't need to worry about suit power. Just remember to take it with you.

I'm a new commander. I did the same thing for a settlement activation mission, except I raided a separate one. Ended up getting 120k for the settlement and over 300k for the loot. Super fun game so far. II can see this becoming my forever game, especially if we can eventually play on our own servers.
Man this is so fluid. Can I ask what specs you run this with? I'm on i7, rtx3060 but not as fluid as this. Also on 3440x1440, 100 hrz refresh rate, 1.0x supersampling.

I did this as wel, but it was pitch dark then, send my ship back up to 'safety' and drove my srv to the settlement, while later thargoids appeared, and looked like they where searching the surface, making ominous noises, it was down right scary...because i don't do combat versus thargoids, i'm more of a freighter/adventurer myself.
No, it's not illegal. Actually, during restore/reactivation missions, those where you need to insert a power regulator and restart the generator, you can always collect materials without them being flagged as stolen. Although I must admit, I haven't done it for a couple of months, so it could have changed. But I did as many missions of them as possible, the real payment being the materials. :)
@@cmdrHeliaxx it makes things a lot more acceptable for new players dropping into AX zones. The search and rescue even send over limpets now! It's really nice!
Went to one of those the moment u14 dropped. So disappointed there were nothing there, like thargoids on foot or even thargoid-controlled humans. Some battle scars should be a minimum, like caustic substance here and there and this green mist - it alone would add alot to a climate of those settlements.
@@cmdrHeliaxx the system is conquered by thargoids when all starports are "controlled" by Thargoids. That would mean, SOME Ody settlements should have been attacked as well.
@@kempo79 Eh, I probably expressed it badly. The thing is - 63 Eridani is in the "thargoid invasion" state. There are settlements which are abandoned, and settlements which are under attack. The under attack ones have the things you mentioned (except on foot troops)

This is the sort of thing that will happen if we get base building. One can be at home and doing stuff at the same time. Being attacked while your alone, by numeriouus ganker's or when your not home by simply one. Either way, unless bases are simular to the carrier's. In the way they can't be attacked. If one has ever played after NMS, got base building, after SC got base building. To see that base building and the time, effort and fund's one will invest; Are futile!

I used to as well. In fact my squadron (STWL) was the one who ran Steel Wolves Aegis Tactical so this whole thing makes me sad considering most of them did not make it to PC :(
I’m using an ASUS G513 with Ryzen 7 4800h and RTX3050. It runs 1080p at medium (with some textures at high) at 120fps in space, 70-80 near big spaceports or FCs, 50-60 in stations interiors and a range between 30-70 in settlements. Only downside are crowded conflict zones, where i can get to mid-20fps sometimes.
I would have brought a spare Power Regulator with me, and used it to power up the base, then looted everything (including data) and then reclaimed the PR when I left. Get into the Command centre and deactivate security scans so you don't have to cut through Every. Single. Door.
Meeting that random CMDR is exactly why I would love to see proximity chat in Elite.

Power up the base to make looting easier then power down when done. This requires one power regulator, but I generally have several in my inventory.
