Also, what a great concert!
John Slaughter early days on blues guitar absolutely wonderful. We all miss you very much. First saw him at Barnet Jazz club late 60's early 70's he made such a difference to the already well established band so well done Chris for adding him to the line up.
was this barber's best band??? how good to see and hear the great Pete York who taught me so much in his break times. Undoubtedly one of the best ever at his art!!!
With the Hendrix influenced guitar , bass ,drums, fiery trumpet ,John Cocker’s forceful alto sax and Chris “dirty sound on trombone , the start of blues funk as good as any band today in December 2021.
Thank you for the information. Thank you, too, for the performances of the Chris Barber Band presented by you on UA-cam, for example 'Chris Barber's Jazz and Blues Band 1989'. Good to know that Barber's music is cared for on UA-cam. Best wishes!
unfortunately, guitarist, slaughter, was aptly named....he butered the first solo....no syncopation (swing) and out of the chord structure....badly....not listening further, despite others sounding good!

Crocker is really good, excellent... with saxophone and with clarinet too. Great music, but that's usual with Chris Barber!
Pete York is superb as always - in many ways he was the most accomplished drummer Chris Barber had
Chris Barber - the best

Pat Halcox (tp), John Crocker (as, cl), Johnny McCallum (bj, g), John Slaughter (g), Vic Pitt (b)
Thanks for the additions. Also, do you perhaps know the year of the recording? (I suspect the mid-1970s.)
Vic Pitt joined in July 1977 and John Slaughter started his sabbatical in April 1978. Cheers, Bernard.

RIP chris .
Here you can see - Chris's Barber clearly imitates the trombonist
Lorens Brown.
Is that Rory Gallagher playing the guitar???!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉
Swing 42
In my opnion the Clarinet should play a little more MODEST and leave the "lead" to the Trumpet player.
