I don't believe that Gun was only formed between Sonic movies 1 and 2, because Shadow recognised Gun in Sonic movie 3, and lived in a Gun base 50 years before the events of the movie.
@ in movie 2 gun was created specifically because of both sonic and robotnik I haven’t had a chance to see movie 3 yet but it’s safe to say prior to the teaser scene shadow had gotten familiar with gun since being freed
@dshaynietheawesome I've watched the movie, and I don't want to spoil, but Shadow was already very familiar with Gun prior to his 50 year cryogenic sleep. I do agree that that seems to contradict the information we got from Sonic 2. Even if it is a continuity error, I don't mind considering that Gun should have always been a thing in the movie universe, instead of "generic American government."
I see a few similarities with Sonic X. The heroes are all depicted as Aliens from another world sent to Earth and both befriend a Human protagonist. Chris in the anime and Tom in the movies.
In the games, Shadow's design was based off of Sonic in the mural in Hidden Palace. The mural in Hidden Palace was showcasing the upcoming events of the final boss. Sonic was originally born on Christmas Island and anyone and anything can use Chaos Control.
That’s not true. Shadow’s defiant is not explicitly based on the mural from Hidden Palace. That’s just an unconfirmed theory y’all have been running with for years
That hasn't been confirmed for the based off thingy, in fact the gerald diary from shadow gens debunks it. Gerald only went to angle island once and went to sa1 emerald chamber, not s&k one (i think)
@ exactly what I’ve been saying. This is just a random unconfirmed theory people been running around with for years and mfs wanna spread misinformation and pass it off as real 😂

This a great video! Although you did missed a couple of information tho. Like you forgotten to mention that Eggman Memos in Frontiers going into lol details of his childhood. And GUN was around according to the Knuckles Series they just went by a different name.
I hope they make Shadow a natual Hedgehog like Sonic but with Black Doom genetics(blood) after he did some tests on Shadow then he didn't need him so becasue he was too kind so wiped his memories then threw him out of his world, but Shadow saves himself at last second before he loses his memory using Black Doom's power to put himself in shell then Sonic Movie 3 events happen.
I will always appreciate the Sonic games for getting me into this franchise, but there's just so many aspects of the movie universe that I prefer over the games that I can't help but enjoy them more. Don't get me wrong though, I'm always down to play whatever game Sonic has come up with next. The games will always be that bread and butter for me, but the movies are like that favorite meal that never gets old.
@ I wouldn’t say I prefer but I really do like how the Movies give Sonic an actual backstory and character arc, whereas Game Sonic has a mostly flat character. I also appreciate them for fleshing out Shadow’s relationship with Maria so we knew how much she meant to him. SA2 left their relationship pretty vague before 2005 Shadow the Hedgehog and Shadow Generations developed their relationship further
@@therandomvideochannel8589 The family dynamic that Sonic has with Tails, Knuckles, and the Wachowskis is my favorite part of the movies. It resonates with me specifically for personal reasons I won't go into. Game Sonic's relationships with anyone beyond Tails felt like a slight step above aquantices, especially in the early 2000s. It's not really in issue since that's the character they wanted at the time, but Game Sonic's aloof personality never appealed to me since it felt like he didn't really appreciate the connections he made with others. The free as the wind mentality just meant leaving people behind to me.
all valid points. i enjoy game sonic more pretty much for all the reasons both of you mentioned. the sonic i grew up with was independent, introverted and his actions always spoke louder than his words. these traits were grounded and relatable. he did value his friends but never had a ‘family’ relationship with them, nor did he want a family to belong in. the fact that he was a static character and inspired others made him a really good role model. i liked that he didn’t have a traumatic origin story - he didn’t need one. sonic was just effortlessly cool. despite CD and unleashed’s intro being over 15 years apart, sonic still felt like the same character. i feel like game sonic could easily work in a movie too (i’m thinking an animated movie in the style of the spider verse films) but i don’t think hollywood is ready to take that risk yet. i will say movie sonic’s character does fit the overall theme of the movie series, but it doesn’t strike me as a faithful adaption of the character. i suppose i’m just hyper critical of it as for many people, this IS sonic as it’s the most popular iteration of the character. but i’m glad you guys enjoy movie sonic
In the second movie when Eggman first returned to Earth, movie Sonic shows ZERO hesitation in attacking Eggman, it's literally on sight. And Sonic would've killed him if Knuckles didn't come in.
At least Tails’s backstory stayed the same, except that in the movie he doesn’t explain what happened to his family, compare to how the comics do show what happened to them.
Tails' backstory is that he was bullied for having two tails only for Sonic to save him from said bullying, after which Tails started following him around. In the movie, Tails is a weirdo stalker who has a parasocial relationship with Sonic because he saw him beating Eggman in a video he took. These ain't the same, my guy.
@dshaynietheawesome The point moreso is that Sonic was physically there to help him whereas in the movie Tails basically just sees some dude beat up another dude from an aerial pov and decides to like the blue one. There's no personal connection in the movie, all Tails saw is a random powerful person, but the movie never really does anything with the fact that their relationship is parasocial, there's like one line about it and they act like best buds regardless, there's also the fact that, if I remember correctly, Tails uses his tails to fly before seeing Sonic on his screen, whereas in the games Tails was inspired by Sonic's kindness and decided to turn what he was mocked for into his strength, which is also lost in the movie.
@@PeashamNah, Tails is a little kid who likes to always see his legendary hero who inspires him, he doesn't have any bad intentions behind it, so I don't know why call him a weird stalker. In the movie he is still a brave smart guy
@@sr.palit0 I'm not saying he's a bad person when I call him a stalker, I'm calling him that because because he finds out about Sonic by spying on him without Sonic's knowledge. There's no evil there, i know that, but that is stalking.
@6:35 Hopefully someday, we get a Sonic game that delves into his backstory. And yes, let said game be called "Sonic The Hedgehog". Cause this time, we’d have such a 3D Sonic game deserving of that title. And it should also tell Eggman’s backstory as well.
What about “Sonic Beginnings” as a title? I’m not sure about it sharing the same title as the first game, Sonic 06, the original cartoon etc. as it could cause some confusion
Ima have to say no. Game Sonic is meant to have a flat character arc, we’re not supposed to know how he came to be or what influences him. He’s always worked without a backstory and certainly doesn’t need one now
@@yvng_hero305 yeah. I’m fine with Movie Sonic having a character arc and an origin story since he’s a different adaptation and he’s younger than his game counterpart, but keep Game Sonic simple. He don’t need an arc or an origin story to work. He’s been established from the jump as a confident adventurous hero
Well the Sonic's house thing had to be real until recently. I still couldn't believe it till the last Twitter Takeover. Charii5 definitely called it when he did "Everything Wrong With 'Sonic Shuffle'". And I would like to talk about a detail you missed about Eggman's game origin, but that would go into movie spoilers. Also it in a way would be more of a similarity and this is a DIFFERENCE video so...yeah. Also supposedly Game Sonic was born on the real life location of Kirimati AKA Christmas Island. So there's that, too.
The biggest difference that stood out to me is that shadow doesn’t require a chaos emerald to use chaos control. It seams this is because he is most likely directly related to the black arms, as he drops down to earth in a small black comet.
so now the third movie has been out for a bit and this video did so well, do you guys have any topic and discussion ideas for more sonic movie themed videos?
@@ECartmanist ill take a buggy over ambitious game thats true to its world and characters over a super boring game thats true doesn’t even try and insults the intelligence of it’s players where most of the story happens off screen and characters and continuity are wrong and the game as a whole is suffering from an identity crisis of misunderstanding it’s own brand which i see as more damaging but more importantly if we got to the point where they thought it was ok to make you pay actual money just to unlock super sonic and super sonic adds essentially nothing, you know its a new low

''True too the characters and world'' what like retconning Blazes backstory and the blue Chaos Emerald paradox they put into the game which literally contradicts every prior game.
@@ECartmanist sonic 06 was meant to be a reboot of Sonic. It is going to contradict the existing story. It bombed so bad due to its technical flaws and other reasons that Sega would just rather act like it never, thus why it was delisted. Just a cash grab for the fans out there who love to make their own sonic OC.
At 6:25 In the Archie comics, Sonic had a mother and father before the Genesis Wave happened. As far as I know currently, Sonic’s parents haven’t been mentioned since.🤓💙
All because of Ken Penders claiming ownership of characters he created for the Sonic comics, which includes Sonic's family. He tried to sue Paramount for giving Knuckles a father.
he also had a Uncle with Chuck who appeared multiple times in different mediums and another Mother with Underground, so the idea ain't new, just not in the games
Well there are couple of differences I find for Sonic and his friends, between how they are in the games compared to the movies, like Sonic gets to meet Eggman on Earth instead of his world, and not a guy who wants to steal animals to power up robots, how he meets Tails on Earth and not someone who gets picked on in his world, how Green Hills gets to be a town in the movies while in his games it's the name of a place in his world as Green Hill, Sonic doesn't have a home in his games and gets to sleep in whatever place he's in and is always on adventures and running around nonstop while in his movies he gets to have a home which is a house with two human adults and their golden retriever dog, how Gerald Robotnik in the games is supposed to be dead already when Eggman who is Dr. Robotnik discovers him and since Professor Gerald Robotnik created Shadow just to help people before GUN arrested him and took his granddaughter Maria from him and Shadow, while in the movies Gerald Robotnik gets to be with his grandson and wants to annihilate Earth and with Space Colony ARK and the eclipse can as something he allowed GUN to invent over the years and showing that Shadow was an alien who came to Earth in a meteor before Professor Gerald Robotnik created Shadow to be who he is, and there are a lot of changes that are in the movies of Sonic that's different from how things are in Sonic's games, and there are things in the movies that are sometimes better than how things and stories of people are in the games of Sonic the hedgehog, in my opinion.
The Sonic Lore was changed with the "Adventure" game series forward. The original games were clear that Sonic and in the sequels lived on the Planet Mobious. The Islands were the different continents of the planet, and Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik was the only (so far known) human character that wanted to use animals to power up his machines and of course the Chaos Emeralds. This was even used on the original animated series, but with the making of the Sonic Adventure games, somehow the story was set on a weird alternate Earth. The live action Trilogy films use a mix of the original games origins and the Adventure games and forward. It's the perfect balance that clearly shows a believable and yet solid version of Sonic's origins. This is the reason Sonic and Co are referred to as aliens. Shadow on the other hand and on the games was created from the Sonic's and alien's DNA the mentioned Alien species due to a Prophecy painting and them possibly going through time and obtaining Sonic's DNA. In the movie Shadow landed inside a meteor, essentially also making him an Alien, but it is unknown why he looks like Sonic and has the same powers. His 50yrs is him locked in cryostasis for that time.
@@EternalRoman the lore was not changed in adventure, it simply built onto what was already established in sonic cd and sonic 3 & knuckles, which itself was building off sonic 2 which was building off sonic 1 but to be fair 1 & 2 had very little to begin with and there is no mention of a planet mobius in any of the Japanese manuals, the only real thing that was changed in the lore was adapting eggman’s localized name dr robotnik from the american marketing media as his real name while turning his original name eggman into a nickname
Regarding Gun's origin in the films.... there's a bit of a glaring plot hole. The second film states that GUN was created because of Sonic's arrival in the first film... Yet in the third film, GUN already existed 50 years ago. I really wish they had actually addressed this in the film. Maybe Commander Walter's lied to the Sonic family in the second... idk. Just shows they weren't planning on making these too connected.
@dshaynietheawesome If I remember correctly, they do show Knuckles putting the Madter Emerald back together at the end of the movie. Which that alone could have been the plot for the Knuckles show... finding the pieces of the Master Emerald and putting it back together... oh the wasted potential 😢
@ like the chaos emeralds fly off into the sky like they do in numerous games and knuckles doesn’t put the master emerald back together until afterwards and theres no implication that the chaos emeralds were part of it again and theres no explanation in the third movie
Game sonic vs movie sonic Movie sonic: makes jokes then fights (prob might lose) Game sonic: fights enemy then wins (makes a single one liner) Movie sonic when angry: no more mister nice guy (still might lose but can probably make up for it later Game sonic: grits teeth and does what he has to do. No monologue. Movie sonic:Watches movies, makes tik toks, fortnite dances, and is always energetic Game sonic: usually laying down by a tree taking a nap, eating food at different countries, smelling the flowers, or hanging with tails Final comparison Movie sonic: loses every fight with knuckles and only beat shadow once after losing the whole movie and getting tired in super form Game sonic: beats/ties with knuckles and only loses to shadow once in a non canon spinoff timeline
I have and idea: If they decide to separate the Master Emerald from the Chaos Emeralds for a more streamlined story for the movie universe I think they can play off a similar idea from Adventure 1 where the Emeralds have positive and negative energy. What if the green energy from the Master Emerald represents raw power, while the Chaos Emeralds alone represent courage or unity.
absolutely, i know we were all worried about the first movie outside of references they added in post but i like how they went from there, i absolutely adore how the second movie stayed true to the first but still brought in elements from game sonic 2, game sonic 3&K and sonic adventure while still feeling cohesive in one movie and how creative they were combining elements like labyrinth zone and hidden palace of instance and still being respectful to the source material
I gotta say, I think the movie designs are way better than the games. Sonic and friends have actual fur, instead of looking like plastic. Their eyes are also so much more consistent with real animals instead of being one giant eyeball. Being a cyclops is fine, but he has two pupils. I get he’s an alien but I just don’t like it
This video gave me a Theory about movie Sonic: the hedgehogs and echidna were at war this 3:54 shows the echidna leader destroying the hedgehog army, the few surviving hedgehogs sought refuge by the owls except shadow who was sent of world and landed on earth.the owls stole the master emerald leading to the echidna attacking the owls and after years of fighting the owls lost leaving only long claw and a baby Sonic, later the echidna found Sonic and long claw but they had a draw where everybody died except For Sonic obviously For the powers maybe baby Sonic was shown the master emerald or born in the same room and after touching it gained super speed. Maybe the master emerald leaves traces of itself in the dna of whoever uses it and the echidna who used it is is the ancestors knuckles. And shadow maybe his parents touched the master emerald during a fight and survived or he’s the child of a hedgehog and black doom (black doom is another alien)
im pretty sure shadow looks like sonic because when gerald was planning to make him he went to green hills and saw the shrine with super sonic on it and so decided to base his ultimate life form off of it.
dude! there was never a true low point for the series! there were a few games that failed over the years...Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Blast (not 3D Blast) Sonic Shuffle, Shadow the Hedgehog, (honestly a pretty fun game despite the critics) Sonic Boom, Sonic. Forces (again mid but not as terrible as people made it out to be)....but the series bounced back each time!
@@SpiffyMario55 by sonic forces the series had lost its identity, we hadn’t had a proper game in years until mania which was made alongside sonic team making forces and they had clearly forgotten everything that made the games so appealing or fun or even how to depict it’s own world or characters, and when i show you there was a point in time where they thought making people pay money to play as super sonic in forces was a good idea the fact that something so stupid could exist is proof it was a low point
It’s cool to have a Star Wars like revelation in the third movie when Gerald said to Evo i am your grandfather referring when Anakin saying to Luke i am your father
Well, after what we know from Sonic 3, they could use a time travel story to fill in the holes from the first 3 films that have been left dangling. Question is, HOW?
@lilkalebmck9941 yes i know that i was just pointing out how different it is. I still dont ubderstand how it says you commented one hour before the video even released
my problem with video game movies is that they don't really use the source material and the fact the sonic movies use so much from the history of sonic make them my favourite video game movies
The movies do take inspiration from the source material it’s just they’re not the exact same thing. Changes are obviously going to be made and that’s fine
So you got some information incorrect. We do know some information regarding Sonic’s past, namely that he was born on Christmas Island (it’s why his shoes are red and white) he left his parents there and hasn’t gone back as far as we know since he was 16 at the earliest. Sonic has also had some run-Ins with Eggman prior to the events of Sonic the Hedgehog. Never on the scale of the South Island Incident, but some smaller scale conflicts. It wasn’t until the Chaos Emeralds came into play that Eggman became a bigger threat, which is when we first see their battles. All of this comes from the Japanese manuals for Sonic the Hedgehog. The South Island Incident is really just the first notable encounter between the two. They’ve known each other for a bit before that event transpired. It’s why Sonic is so quick to act, and why Eggman has machines that seem too well prepared to combat Sonic in particular. Some of it is repurposed construction machines, but others are genuine weapons. It’s all last minute on his part so he scrambled to get whatever would work onto the island. A lot of this stuff is lost in translation since it’s all relegated to the Japanese manuals. But there is way more to Eggman’s vendetta against Sonic than just what happens in Sonic the Hedgehog, at least wherein in pertains to that game in particular. It was all building to a head at that point.
The only problem I had with Sonic’s third movie is how they changed the chao garden. Instead of being faithful to the source material, they made it into a Japan Chuck E Cheese wannabe. They should have made it accurate to the lore and made it an ancient hidden place on earth for Sonic to find like in the second movie when he found the compass and ruins that held the master emerald
Jojo was in the second movie! She was thr one in charges of the rings during the weeding. Considering that that her mom wasn't in the third movie (Not physicly), it makes sence Jojo wouldn't etheir.
@@alexisislas-gonzalez5991 and yet they all connected and also for some reason the black arms seem to have some form of connection to them and even weirder in sonic unleashed since all the gaia temples use the chaos emeralds to restore the planet and that they have the ability to restore power to the chaos emeralds implies the emeralds have had a connection with earth since the early days and yet they ended up in the home world of the ancients, but unlike every other being and civilization to to use the emeralds the ancients don’t seem to have a biological connection to chaos energy. so in other words the mystery of the emeralds thickens
According to the way they made the CGI in the movie, and what Sonic says in the first movie (and a deleted scene), Sonic was unaware of his electric powers up until the baseball night. That probably means that Sonic’s powers developed as he grew up, rendering him only as useful as speed when he was younger
I loved when Sonic crashed the absolute fuck out and went band for band with shadow 1:50 I think they were just planning on taking the emerald via longclaw, and planned on taking Sonic to make it easier for them. Knux has the same powers as him, so i doubt they’d really need Sonic’s.
Shadow looks like sonic because gerald saw the prophetic mural of sonic going super and based shadow off the powerful creature (sonic) Also the 3rd movie seems to have retconned gun formering between the first 2 movies as shadow is in a GUN base
Well if you take in consideration the sonic IDW and Archie comics are somewhat canon with the games and explains that sonic and his friends are from the planet mobius and just came to earth at different points in time due to humanity and mobians having a peace treaty and encountering each other many years ago and began co existing and working together
I haven't watched the video yet, but I'm hoping the creator talks about how much dumber movie Knuckles is than video game Knuckles and how much different their voices are
I'd have been fine with him being so dumb if everyone wasn't glazing the movie for doing Knuckles "right" and not making him dumb. Bro literally SEES that Eggman's a dishonorable liar and is shocked when he turns out to be a dishonorable liar lmao
@Peasham The last time Knuckles was relevant before these movies was in Boom where "stupid" was his entire personality, he shared literally zero personality traits with his original game counterpart and oh, he was weak and sucked at fighting too, the TV show had so many jokes that were just "Hah, the big guy can't lift shit/gets smacked around easily", it's legit just a part of the character at that point even if the marketing calls him "the muscle". After that, literally anything is going to look like they're getting the character right. And credit where credit is due, the movies kept and added some depth to his short temper, made him the biggest threat in combat he's been since Sonic 3 and actually did something with the Echidna Tribe that the games had been ignoring for actual decades at that point. And honestly, that's still looking pretty good next to something like Sonic Prime where the only version of Knuckles that got any focus was *the exact freaking opposite of everything the character is in the games* for literally no reason. A thief, sociable, cowardly, manipulative, *literally leaves his version of Angel Island to sink…* Seriously, at least with Movie Knuckles I say things like "Okay, he fantasizes about brutally maiming his opponents even though mainline Knuckles would never do that, but that's because he was raised by his bloodthirsty tribe and then had to fend for himself rather than growing up in peace in a floating paradise. Cause and effect." Dread Knuckles is just… I got nothing. I'll take what I can get.
@@rainpooper7088 I'm not saying you can't like his characterization in the movies, I'm just pointing out that it's also inaccurate and not worthy of the glaze Sonictubers usually give it, though the maiming is a lot less of a problem for me than him being actually stupid, the maiming's played off for jokes while his stupidity is a central character beat that's pivotal for the plot, of movie 2 anyway, and even then I don't have a problem with it in concept, my problem is again, people glazing movie Knuckles despite the glaring inaccuracies of his characterization. I mean honestly, out of all the changed characters he's easily the best-realized, the rest of team Sonic are MUCH worse off in terms of characterization (saying this from a movie viewer standpoint not a Sonic fan standpoint, though their characterization's still pretty bad in terms of accuracy)
Sonic fans may hate me for saying this, but I think the movies explained some things better than the games and have characters be better developed. Also Sonic is a stronger character in the movies than the games
That's make sense, but I will say this, there is no power scaling in Sonic, everyone in the movies and games have been proven to be on par or been able to find ways to best Sonic in a one on one fight, plus in the movies we clearly see Knuckles and Shadow be on par or beat him as well, it's all about skill and reflexes when it comes to combat in Sonic, power is rarely a thing.
@@DERRELL-qw8kw What does that have to do with what I was talking about? I wasn't talking about power scaling. That's not what I meant when I said "stronger character"
On top of Sonic being extraordinarily generic in all movies so far, they constantly contradict his development. Case in point, his development in movie 2 was him proving himself as a capable hero, only for him to completely reject being a hero in the epilogue because in his own words, he's just a kid and he's not ready for that responsibility, as though he didn't prove otherwise throughout the movie, but then in the sequel the second GUN shows up and tells him they need him he's instantly fine with being a hero like he didn't explicitly reject it in movie 2. Which is to say, nah, this is absolute amateur hour.
No, no, you've got a point. Shadow's plot in particular has so much bloody confusing stuff in the games that kind of sort of makes sense once you wrap your head around everything, but you're 100% gonna sound like a total moron if you try to explain all that to someone. Sonic 3 trimmed the fat and it was mostly for the better and done in a conclusive way. Biolizard works fine as a big boss monster in a videogame, but there was no point in having something like him take up screentime in the movies when Super Sonic and Super Shadow fighting each other is going to be more meaningful. If you don't have Biolizard, there's no need for Project Shadow to be anything other than… Well, Shadow himself, which removes a lot of oddities. Can't have Gerald create him from scratch anyways because hedgehogs are aliens in this continuity and having him look like one despite being grown in an Earth lab with no possible reference material would be really random (major plothole in Sonic X). If Gerald didn't create Shadow, that removes the need for Maria's world's youngest cancer patient™️ plotline which in turn removes the need for the Space Colony ARK as a setting. Unlike with something like Sonic X (loved that show as a kid, but man, logically adapting elements from the games into its setting wasn't its forte) you can tell they really thought about what to keep and what to cut down and how altering or removing certain elements would affect the story.
Eggman's logs in forces DO tell us that his family basically neglected him because they were so caught up in mourning Maria's death, the reason he turned to villainy was because of that, his resentment turning his admiration and goal to be like Gerald into SURPASSING him. Also, just got out the movie so SPOILER ALERT (This is PURELY in regards to GUN's formation, but just in case) GUN has been a thing since before Shadow's creation in the movies, I WOULD say that maybe they went by a different name or disbanded, but they even had the logo back then and has apparently been monitering Shadow the whole 50 years, contradicting both GUN's formation in the 2nd movie AND the post credit reveal that they only just (re)discovered him. The old man that TOLD US of GUN's formation in the 2nd movie even worked for them DIRECTLY 50 years ago and was involved with improsoning Shadow. So yeah, it's just straight up a continuity error.
in terms of eggman thats a bit of a reach because the egg memo says everyone loved maria and he didn’t understand what was so special and then demands that he should of had all that attention which is a very eggman thing to do
It was revealed by writers that in a deleted scene for Sonic 3, Gerald actually stayed alive with the help of Shadow's quill. While in jail, Gerald would do the weird shock thing like Eggman, except his wrinkles recede, giving a brief explanation as to why he lived for so long. It makes sense since Shadow is immortal.
That’s very interesting I wonder does Sonic’s quill have any effect on eggman.

I haven’t had a chance to see movie 3 yet but it’s safe to say prior to the teaser scene shadow had gotten familiar with gun since being freed
@@dshaynietheawesomemust’ve been a retcon cuz shadow knew about gun
I see a few similarities with Sonic X. The heroes are all depicted as Aliens from another world sent to Earth and both befriend a Human protagonist. Chris in the anime and Tom in the movies.
It's also pretty interesting that G.U.N is established on Earth in the movies like X, as well.
I wonder if a lot of the staff and Jeff Fowler might have been influenced by Sonic X, it was a popular weekend cartoon.
@@X3nophiliac Maybe. I love Sonic X, especially its 3rd season. :)

the conjoined eye is really a stylistic choice since game sonic isn't really supposed to have one singular eyeball
In the games, Shadow's design was based off of Sonic in the mural in Hidden Palace. The mural in Hidden Palace was showcasing the upcoming events of the final boss. Sonic was originally born on Christmas Island and anyone and anything can use Chaos Control.

Agreed
which aspects of the movie universe do you prefer to the games?
The movies expanded on the games more than changing stuff it's great how everybody gets more devolpement
I love that the movies take stuff that's taken for granted in the games and expands on that.
Movie sonic has a design that you can never really see how different it is from the source UNLESS you seen them side by side
I’m so happy Sonic is main stream now
At least Tails’s backstory stayed the same, except that in the movie he doesn’t explain what happened to his family, compare to how the comics do show what happened to them.
@Peasham i mean he was bullied in the movie too just offscreen
He’s always worked without a backstory and certainly doesn’t need one now
@@Abner-gu3veglad u actually get the character. Not too many of people like this

He don’t need an arc or an origin story to work. He’s been established from the jump as a confident adventurous hero
All you need to know about Sonic’s backstory is that he was born on Christmas Island and left at a young age because of his call for adventure
i feel like the movies and games are two different like universes
As different universes as sonic X, which also adapted moments from the games like the sonic adventure series
Well the Sonic's house thing had to be real until recently. I still couldn't believe it till the last Twitter Takeover. So there's that, too.
Everything is different. It is a completly different univers

Longclaw is built different
She got jumped and injured yet was still able to wipe out an entire Echidna tribe before dying herself
As knuckles said to sonic
1 million percent muscle
In the Japanese manual for Sonic 1 its said that Sonic is from Christmas Island and that his shoes are inspired by Santa Clause

Game sonic vs movie sonic
Movie sonic: makes jokes then fights (prob might lose)
Game sonic: fights enemy then wins (makes a single one liner)
Movie sonic when angry: no more mister nice guy (still might lose but can probably make up for it later
Game sonic: grits teeth and does what he has to do. No monologue.
Movie sonic:Watches movies, makes tik toks, fortnite dances, and is always energetic
Game sonic: usually laying down by a tree taking a nap, eating food at different countries, smelling the flowers, or hanging with tails
Final comparison
Movie sonic: loses every fight with knuckles and only beat shadow once after losing the whole movie and getting tired in super form
Game sonic: beats/ties with knuckles and only loses to shadow once in a non canon spinoff timeline
I have and idea: If they decide to separate the Master Emerald from the Chaos Emeralds for a more streamlined story for the movie universe I think they can play off a similar idea from Adventure 1 where the Emeralds have positive and negative energy. I gotta say, I think the movie designs are way better than the games. Sonic and friends have actual fur, instead of looking like plastic. Their eyes are also so much more consistent with real animals instead of being one giant eyeball. Being a cyclops is fine, but he has two pupils. I get he’s an alien but I just don’t like it
This video gave me a Theory about movie Sonic:
the hedgehogs and echidna were at war this 3:54 shows the echidna leader destroying the hedgehog army, the few surviving hedgehogs sought refuge by the owls except shadow who was sent of world and landed on earth.the owls stole the master emerald leading to the echidna attacking the owls and after years of fighting the owls lost leaving only long claw and a baby Sonic, later the echidna found Sonic and long claw but they had a draw where everybody died except For Sonic obviously
For the powers maybe baby Sonic was shown the master emerald or born in the same room and after touching it gained super speed.
Maybe the master emerald leaves traces of itself in the dna of whoever uses it and the echidna who used it is is the ancestors knuckles.
And shadow maybe his parents touched the master emerald during a fight and survived or he’s the child of a hedgehog and black doom (black doom is another alien)

unpopular opinion movie sonics design is waaaay better than the game but if they merged it together sonic would actually be able to express himself
Still praying for that superstars video

The last time Knuckles was relevant before these movies was in Boom where "stupid" was his entire personality, he shared literally zero personality traits with his original game counterpart and oh, he was weak and sucked at fighting too, the TV show had so many jokes that were just "Hah, the big guy can't lift shit/gets smacked around easily", it's legit just a part of the character at that point even if the marketing calls him "the muscle".
@@Peasham whatever
9:30 Hey the helicopter says SA2 that's a reference to sonic adventure 2
If I'm being honest if they make a shadow spin off it should be based off shadow the hedgehog game not completely but atleast loosely
What about the comics?
8:54 and 9:46 where did you find those scenes ? I would like the source please

@dshaynietheawesome thank you
Eggman's logs in forces DO tell us that his family basically neglected him because they were so caught up in mourning Maria's death, the reason he turned to villainy was because of that, his resentment turning his admiration and goal to be like Gerald into SURPASSING him.
Also, just got out the movie so SPOILER ALERT (This is PURELY in regards to GUN's formation, but just in case)
GUN has been a thing since before Shadow's creation in the movies, I WOULD say that maybe they went by a different name or disbanded, but they even had the logo back then and has apparently been monitering Shadow the whole 50 years, contradicting both GUN's formation in the 2nd movie AND the post credit reveal that they only just (re)discovered him. The old man that TOLD US of GUN's formation in the 2nd movie even worked for them DIRECTLY 50 years ago and was involved with improsoning Shadow. So yeah, it's just straight up a continuity error.
in terms of eggman thats a bit of a reach because the egg memo says everyone loved maria and he didn’t understand what was so special and then demands that he should of had all that attention which is a very eggman thing to do
3:52 cue Ken threatening to sue Paramount for stealing Enerjak (no really)
Sonic 3 was actually pretty entertaining.
