Dude, your passion for inks is insane. When I'm in the market for a new ink and want to see how it looks, you always have an in-depth video on it. Appreciate your contributions to this hobby of ours.
I made a strange observation with Diamine Evergreen in a Lamy AL-Star: When inking up fresh new ink, it's writing in a green tone in my Leuchtturm1917 notebook, as it should. But writing again a day later, the ink on the paper is turning into an unpleasant black color while watching. It takes about 10 seconds or so for the tone to change from green to black in front of the eye. One can really see how a line of writing is changing its color from left to right! After cleaning the pen out and inking up anew, it is fine again, the tone remaining green. After a day, it is turning black within some seconds on the paper again. I changed to my second AL-Star, and it is exactly the same, after a day for the Evergreen within the pen, the color of the ink isn't stable anymore. This happens only on the Leuchtturm1917 and Moleskine paper, not on Clairfontaine or some cheap printer paper I have around. And it happens only with the Lamy AL-Star. Changing to a Lamy Studio, the green tone of the ink is perfectly stable and never changes on the paper. And it depends on the feed of the pen, I think. Putting Evergreen directly from the converter onto the paper always gives a green color, no matter how long it stays in there. It seems to me like there is something in the feed material of the Lamy AL-Star that creeps into the ink with time, and which destroys the green color component in the Diamine Evergreen when it comes in contact with Leuchtturm1917 or Moleskine paper, but not other papers. Sounds strange, but it's a very reproducible effect on my pens/papers...!
That is very interesting. This was an impressively detailed description of what you are experiencing. At first I was wondering if you have a black nib and if the black nib is altering the ink as it sits in the pen... but it doesn't sound like that. Since you issue is with Leuchtturm and Moleskine it makes me think there is something in their manufacturing process that is affecting the ink.But then you changed to the Lamy studio and destroy that.... I am at the same spot you are. I think there is either some residual of some other ink in the feed of the Al-Star or that there is something about the feed discoloring the ink. **Only if you are comfortable doing this! You can pull the nib and feed from the Al-Star and clean it with flush and see if that get everything, which it should. Before. the Diamine Evergreen was there a dark purple that sheens a lot in the pen?
@@AnInkGuy Before inking up with Evergreen I separated the nib and feed from the pen and cleaned everything under the water tap. There should be no issue with contamination from other inks. I don't know exactly which inks have been in the Al-Stars before, I don't keep my records that well, but it surely wasn't anything purple and or anything fancy. Probably it was Octopus Burgundy and Diamine Golden Brown... Leuchtturm1917 and Moleskine paper both have a very creamy tone, while the other papers I tried and without the effect are pure white. Maybe that has something to do with it? But still, it has to be the right pen and the Evergreen has to stay in the pen at least for a day or so to de-color on the paper. Should I get my hands on some other Diamine green inks, I'll test if it occurs with it too!
@@michaelweiler8317 I just think it is an reaction with the paper. Honestly couldn't think of anything else it could be. It only occurs on those 2 papers.
another Great Video! just found your channel, will you Be Reviewing Their "OX Blood" :) i only have 2 inks atm Dark Matter, and OX Blood. any other good Ink recommendations?
Yes I will be doing oxblood this year but I probably won't get to it till like October. As for any ink recommendation, I suggest trying different ones and see what you like. Try inks in samples bc ink can get very expensive otherwise.

I appreciate that!
I love this one! Thanks for linking it!
No problem. If I name an ink as a complement that means I have reviewed it.
You sound happier than usual in this vid...more flippant and fun. Cheers!
I was.
Sometimes different time of day can make all the difference.
Love the Shading. 😍
It is a good one. Greens are good at doing it.
