In normal pokemon it's called "set" and "shift" settings if I'm correct. Set will not allow you to switch pokemon on beating an opposing pokemon, while shift does exactly that. Most roblox pokemon clones use "Set" mode because the "hardcore" pokemon fans who usually inhabbit those game, tend to never use shift anyways... That or the developers are obsessed with all those hardcore nuzlocke challanges and belive playing on set mode is the only correct way to play pokemon
I don't think that its because they like "hardcore nuzlockes" persay, its more so that, they don't have to code a shift system, Tales of Tanorio just released, Doodle World hasn't had one for like 7yrs due to Project Pokemon, but P:P's battle system is very barebones to begin with, so i'm not surprised. The game is super fun, I love the Tanorian designs and audio. One thing it unfortunately does which a lot of other similar creature catchers do is release with only 1 or 2 gyms, leading to a rush of players on launch and then that playercount falling off quite a bit when they're done with the story. Otherwise, looking for more content from this game!
It's the fault of the people who started to rage because the game is not released yet,and they had to release it with 2 stadium,if people didn't start rushing the creators there would be a better gameplay with sounds and everything
...No? Brick Bronze is often down, but it's still being worked on and there's still update. A few month ago I played it and finished the game. Most of the time it will be up for a week or two and then it will get down for a few days.

@@TheIceIvy Did a few research and found out you were right. It seem it's a really though subject to talk about but I'll try my best. If I understand correctly, PBB was downed five years ago by Nintendo for obvious reasons and the developers moved on. They are now developing Loomian legacy which is a game like pokemon but, just as Tales of Tanori, it got it's own monsters so it can't be downed. Thing is people have been copying PBB because a lot of people wanted it back and that's why there is a lot of copy. From what I've seen the og devs don't like the copies but some still remains and PBB Forever seems to be the best one right now. So like, end of the story right? copy bad and og dev good. But... I think there is also others things to it. I mean, ye, it's illegal (like 90% of game on roblox), but I'm pretty sure if Loomian legacy were to launch on steam it might be strike down by Nintendo too (I guess?) as it still ressemble a lot like pokemon but it's just that it's not the same monsters (with a few things changing). I might have said trash tho. Also, PBBF seems to not just be a perfect copy... IT TOTALLY copied the og code but it added a bunch of things with it, and as I said, they are adding updates, as they are adding new routes, new gyms, new pokemons, new mechanics (they are trying to do Dynamax I think right now). From where I stand, I am totally the devil's advocate right now, so let's continue, nothing to lose at this point. Now, I don't like the way they are putting gamepasses in the game, making money like that is straight up wrong. But, The devs looks very determined to still continue to care for the game, they are fighting every day to put the game up when it gets down, and when it's up they are trying to update the game. Whereas, if you look at Loomian legacy. After 5 years of developing... It only has 4 arena (correct me if am wrong), which is like really slow (10 years to create 8 arena if it continues like that...). I've also seen a lot of people talking about the frequency of the updates and losing interests in it(also with some data loss for some). At the end of the story, I don't want to pick a side. Yes, of course they are copying a game that has been downed, getting money with gamepasses, and the og developer have the rights to be angry with that and to try to create a new game. But at the same time PBBF seem to nearly work as hard or maybe even harder than Loomian legacy's devs. (I might be wrong too) I guess I just won't support any team in the end. I won't play PBBF, as it's not good morally i guess, but, if you really want to play a full pokemon game or just to play PBB again on roblox. Isn't it one the best choice at the moment? (this sounds really evil to say haha) It's just my opinion in the end. I'll be open to receive criticism, and maybe even being insulted for how dumb I am. Share info about something I have wrong if that's the case, I'll be happy to correct myself too as it's not like I did too much research. It's really funny to play the Devil's advocate.
I will say eclipse, I think it’s funny how every time you said “I don’t know if Pokemon has added this yet” almost every time that mechanic was added. No hate at all completely agree with your opinions, keep up the good work :)

You should play the OG Roblox Pokemon game, Lumian Legacy. It’s like Pokemon and as you have described Tales of Tonorio (I still need to play it), but it has a few of its own mechanics. Would highly recommend 8/10 for me. Love the content keep up the good work eclipse.
Yeah some of these gripes, I understood while playing the game. Getting a crash and getting set back was a bother and the bug with the switching move info should get fixed. Though, there are some things that are circumvented by settings. If u get thrown out the map or something similar, going into setting and unstuck will teleport your avatar next to the gate you exited beforehand. And with the voice acting length of dialogue and/or quality, turning off voice acting will allow you to double tap through all of it like with the trainer npcs. Glad you had an overall positive experience Eclipse.
Tales of Tanorio is a really well made game. Since you liked it, I'd also recommend playing Loomian Legacy, which is also a Pokémon game that has many of the elements that you liked about Tanorio plus some more, so I think you would enjoy it as well.
Since you enjoyed this game, I recommend checking out Doodle World. It’s another monster catching game made by the devs who used to work on Project Pokemon (arguably the 2nd best pokemon rip off before the purge), so you can tell they have experience. While the graphics are not up to par with the others in the genre, the art style is very pleasing and the doodles are very cool! Regarding the soundtrack, I’d say it’s pretty solid, but nothing playlist worthy imo. Compared to Pokemon, the gameplay is harder but not to an intimidating extent. Also, the devs constantly make balance changes to address the thriving PVP community. For the story, I find it pretty intriguing and as of writing, there’s still much to be revealed. As a side note, there’s a lot of cosmetics that you can collect (skins, misprints & tints) and somewhat neat seasonal events. Been following you since early YBA, and I’ve really enjoyed your commentary, keep up the good work!
Ranking of roblox pokemon games post-pbb-death: 1. Doodle World (used to be worse than loomian legacy but LL kinda sucks now) 2. Loomian Legacy (Cliche story but the loomians are really cool) 3. Palworld (wait why is this here) 4. Tales of Tanorio (Fun, but its too new for me to rate it high enough, alot of bugs and its camera angle during battles is disorienting.)
ngl i think eclise likes the mom too much. Also eclipse the vioce acting was intentional as it’s canon that tanorians disguise themselves as humans sometimes and act like how humans act. When they say something that sounds weird it’s a 70% chance that human is secretly a tanorian.
For the intro, you can simply click the 'skip intro' button in the bottom middle side of the screen. As for the softlocking bug (specifically the mount glitching thing ) you can simply go to your settings and click the 'get unstuck' button. ISTG if this gets into a DDoS
you dont understand, some bugs make it so the gui isnt there (when its in loading screen or a cutscene) therefore you cant even access the get unstuck button and are forced to rejoin
If you want another Pokemon game to play that matches up to this one, I'd say it would be Loomian Legacy(it's based on rthro-like models so I don't know what you'll think of it though), it's by the same devs who made Pokemon Brick Bronze
My only problem, is that through route 1-4 the number of trainers got me tweaking, skill issue on my hand I never even went to a single pokestop (whatever you call that) to heal my tanorian so I had to fight about 30 trainers all the way to the fighter gym boss with only four tanorians 💀💀 And my avatar was too fat for the stairs so I had to spamA and D to climb up
Btw yea you’re right about most of the comparisons to pokemon. One that annoyed me was not being able to switch out before the opponent sends out their mon.
Here's some corrections/extra info: The game released march 10th, it was supposed to release mid February but it was delayed 3-4 times. The game first repeased with 40k players and is currently at around 2-3k on average. Pokemon games have been telling u how effective ur moves are ever since generation 7 (gen 7 came out in 2016). In pokemon, only certain trainers can be rematched, which isnt as big of a deal since u get better money and experience, so u dont need to grind as much. Think about it, what pokemon game expects ur mons to be around lvl 30-35 by the second gym leader? Honestly, u can avoid 99% of ToT trainers by walking behind them or on top of them, but thats mainly due to a combination of oversight on the dev's part, and roblox jank. Only the newest pokemon games allow u to switch moves straight through your menu. There aren't really any items u can pick up off the ground in ToT. In more recent pokemon titles, u can choose to either be allowed to switch whenever ur opponent's pokemon faints, OR not be able to and just skip to the next turn. This allows u to customize ur run a little more. Yeah it sucks that the only way to skip dialogue is by turning off voice acting. if u want my personal opinion on ToT, i think its pretty decent. it doesnt really do anything different from pokemon or any CCG game really, like eclipse said, but it does what it does well. the game had one of the worst launches in all of roblox history, going from 40k players to just 2k in a little over a week due to massive bugs and an overall lack of polish, but the game still has potential. if the devs make sure to give the game content updates at least once a month, it will be do pretty well.
Doubt they can do content updates once a month, or at least it wont be much content and lack quality. If they can do a decent sized and quality update like 3 times per year and fix some if its issues it should do pretty well. Look at loomian legacy having a main game update once every 1-2 years

@@aahhhhhhhhhhhhh The events are the issue. If they focus on making every event good then the main game wont have as many updates. I would much rather them delaying some events or adding less in them and focus more on main game updates but most people just want events as soon as possible and dont think about the game in the long run
You should give loomian legacy a shot, its in the same ballpark as this. Its not really P2W, there's some things that facilitate grinding that you can pay for (like an extra EXP charm) but it's not invasive like most roblox stuff. (Idk how many people have suggested this to you, so if I'm sounding like a broken record, sorry!)
Overall, the game is made pretty decently and gameplay is good, it just feels like there were a LOT of finsihing touches that needed to happen before it launched. Also because I know it’ll show up somewhere, you actually can turn off Voice Acting in the settings to make the text go faster :)
To be fair for the intro you have to look at it from a demographical perspective. Whilst shiny hunting in groups I've seen some (presumably) younger ROBLOX players singing the song with each other in chat so clearly some groups do enjoy it.
11:10 Honestly I'm surprised there's no option to even lower the music volume in the first place, or a system in place for when NPC's talk it lowers the music volume so they're heard. It feels like the game definitely wasn't play tested in some areas involving the voice acting.
Yo, great vid, small tip here, most trainers seem like you can’t avoid them when you can. Obviously there’s some exceptions but there’s a good amount of trainers where you can just squeeze right behind them and bypass them entirely. If there is any gap behind a trainer, you can like shimmy your way behind them without triggering the battle. Unlike Project Pokemon, the detection radius for these trainers is fairly low so doing that maneuver works fine.
Also, most soft locks fix themselves if you just wait like 2-3 minutes. It happened to me a few times but I started to talk about it in chat and the game just unsoftlocked itself. Although this didn’t work when the ruptures were broken
i really wasn't expecting you to like ToT, since it has quite a few bugs (especially at release) heres some notes from me on the review: You can actually skip most trainers by walking behind them, although this isn't intentional. Alot of softlocks aren't true softlocks, if you wait long enough it'll fix itself If you turn off voice acting, you can skip the dialogue. But imo they should allow you to skip it with it on. Overall, i believe the game needs some work, especially in the QOL department (the battles feel SO SLOW) but it definitely has alot of potential
About type effectiveness explanation in battles: that has existed since sun and moon iirc, which was on the 3ds in 2016. About rebattling trainers: there have been a handful of roundabout ways of rebattling standard trainers, primarily a key item called the versus seeker, which allowed rebattling of certain trainers, sometimes upping the enemy team's levels and changing some moves. It took a bunch of stepsbto recharge every time though, and wasnt a 100% chance for a rematch, so it wasnt really useful most of the time.
In pokemon there always have been move re-learners. TOT goes by set rules from pokemon which were an option challenge in pokemon's settigs that didn't allow you to seitch. The "this kove is super effective" symbol was added in pokemon sword and shild.
The move relearners have always been tedious to get to, with this you can do it at any time on the fly. Also the super effective thing was added in Sun and Moon
@@gaminggamer7103 Well you do need a bit of risk when training up your mons in pokemon games. The move relearners are suppose to be mid game content, they generally appear when the games can't really be beat with only super effective moves on a speedy Pokémon .
7:00 There is an option available in pokemon where you can switch between either the set or shift battle modes. You have just explained the shift battle mode, where you can switch when you defeat your opponent's creature. However, the set battle mode is generally considered the standard because it is more challenging when fighting against NPCs, fairer when fighting against players, and ultimately easier from a development standpoint.
In (I believe) all pokemon games the switching after an enemy is defeated feature is always a toggle able setting set to be on by default. Competitively, this is always turned off, which is probably why this setting isn’t toggle able, so yeah it’s a downside. Voice acting is most likely present in this game due to the extreme criticism modern pokemon games face for not having any sort of voice acting even though they’re run by a multi billion dollar corporation, and while I agree the voice acting HEAVILY varies in quality, I at least appreciate they have SOMETHING instead of nothing. Also, it’s toggle able in the settings, so if you want to blow past the text you can.
I noticed how the points he mentioned like changing moves was featured in the 9th game, and the type advantages being shown in the 8th game of Pokémon already exist and that not much is different from Pokémon and Tales of Tanorios features.
As someone known in the ToT community and has been following the game years before it released its nice seeing someone outside of the genre and someone who just reviews games give a good outsider view on this game cause it truely is a amazing game in my opinion. You did miss out on some topics like replayablity and such but for a non CCG player I get that. Overall really good video and I'm glad this game is getting some raw and actually fair critism.
7:04 so about this, in pokemon, there's something called switch and set mode, on default, every game is automatically set to switch mode, which means you can send in a pokemon directly after knocking out your opponents, while set mode you cannot.

Time for my opinion that’ll probably never get noticed :D Out of the three roblox pokemon games I’ve played, heres the rankings. 3: loomain legacy It doesn’t really get a lot of updates and because of that, it made the flame die down for me 2. Doodle world It when it comes to updates, its like loomain legacy but a bit more frequent. But the simplicity of the doodles and characters really gives it its charm. Plus the ost is pretty good 1. Tales of tanorio Honestly its like doodle world but better. It has that simple charm to it, and along with the voice acting, chefs kiss

Yes they added the effective typing showing on the moves, and re-fighting trainers been a thing since green was released for the Gameboy it's just a niece item instead of just talking to them again. Good video 👍
The amount of bugs is such a set back, I stopped playing multiple times because of game breaking bugs like sometimes trying to go trough a door and the screen turns black it kind of just teleports me to the bottom of the map. Sometimes when I also use my mount it also teleports me to the bottom of the map.
voice acting in pokemon is something many people wish since TPC/Nintendo probably does have the budget to allot for that a completely different story with fangames lmao
In terms of switching out Pokemon after you score a knockout that's called "set" mode, most Pokemon games nowadays have it in the settings as an option and it's run in tournaments. Usually people who play Pokemon nowadays will use the setting if they want a more difficult experience while playing the game. Imo whether or not you like this feature is subjective but I feel like it's important to note that it is an actual feature withen Pokemon .
I think I saw a trailer for this game like a year or two ago and I got hella excited but then it fell out of relevance and I forgot about it. But cool to see that it actually released, def will be playing later
ToT is alright if anything, on release I will say it was a buggy mess and they even mentioned delaying the original release date because it was even worse so i dread to think how bad it was. A lot of features remained buggy for a bit (the raid feature as one of them). There's some design inconsistencies with the tanostations (a few just don't look like the rest and blend in nearly too well unless you see a very specific pole outside them). I'd come back to it but first impressions have me set back a lot due to how bad it was on release. Though I will say this is often compared to Loomian Legacy, being another. It does some things better, and I will say it does do a few things worse (but its not as much). There's also the fact their update cycle (Tales) seems to be just pumping out constant event tanos to keep a player base (Loomain has done the same mind you, but they have shown developments of an entirely reworked pvp update, and yes I'm aware atlanthain part 2 took 2-3 years for people who are gonna bring that up in the end). Then again could be just because roblox players need constant weekly updates and can't wait a few months for one that's far higher quality. Just if you do plan to play ToT more, settings can disable the VA so you don't have to deal with it (Not blaming you for knowing you can turn it off since I don't think we all just go to the settings instantly to change things, took me until after the first gym till somebody told me about it) And for those interested, yes I think LL outclasses ToT in so many ways.

I think there was something in the settings that allowed you to mute the voice acting, but me personally, I don't think that takes away the awkwardness of it all.
The game may have it's issues, but this game is only in it's early stage of development and the game will get better in the future since they're a lot of patching happening in the game and more updates. Also if you don't want to listen to the intro, you can just skip it and you can also turn off the voice acting so you can skip the dialogue. Plus there's an unstuck button in settings.
You can actually get rid of the dialogue problem disabling the Voice Acting on the settings. In that way, you can skip trough the dialogues really fast if you don't like *LORE* at all.
If TOT is rated this high, I’m curious on your thoughts on Loomian Legacy, as many of the roblox creature capturing community view it as a better and more polished game.
Try out Loomian Legacy, it's by the guy who made Pokemon Brick Bronze, which i had a lot of fun with. IDK if you're too interested in trying other pokemon-likes, but Loomian Legacy has different types from pokemon and has a lot more development (around the 4th or 6th gym, iirc, it's been like a year since i last played)
I think the quality of life in pokemon has become good too. In legends arceus, you can switch out your moves so that you wouldn't have to lose the current move you have. Plus, i think in scarlet and violent ( It started in sword and shield probably) You can now see if the moves on your pokemon will be effective on your opponents pokemon
Hey eclipse I like the vid just one thing I disagree with is not being able to dodge the other fighters I dodged every one but then I realised at the first gym my freind is overpowered so I gone back and used every one even the tuffest one to dodge on nature reserve still is dodge able
I won't lie, the MC's Mom's VA did pretty good enough, even as a literal LEGO I know she is an absolute baddie, I hope someone starts commissioning some "artwork" of her, I can't since I'm gonna need every last one of my doubloons to survive College, or I could use my spare time to make some "art" of her, hehe.
i honestly think that not being able to switch when elimination an opponents pokemon is a good thing the game (like pokemon) would be WAY too easy otherwise.
Not a big fan of being able to switch your moves from all the ones you learned freely tbh. The point of that was that you need to be careful in how you want to build each pokemon, if you make it this easy to switch movesets it takes a lot of the strategy of teambuilding away since you don't really have to worry much about it, cause you can technically have more than 4 moves on a pokemon at a time since you can switch whenever outside of battle. So while it seems like good qol it's more of an issue in the long run imo, and it's not like there aren't ways to relearn moves in traditional pokemon, but they actually take more effort than just switching in a menu if i remember correctly.

You can turn off the voice acting in the menu settings, I recommend doing that if your not a fan of the va's & makes it easier to shiny hunt the starters.

The only people mad are the game are the people who don’t like Pokémon. Like PEOPLE GOT MAD BECAUSE IT PLAYED LIKE A CREATURE CAPTURING GAME. That is exactly what they promised us and exactly what they gave. There were bugs on release sure but the devs worked very very hard to get them fixed and they have dropped 2 banger events for us for those bugs.
Honestly dude You might as well try out the other Pokémon likes (DoodleWorld and Loomian Legacy). As for my personal opinion, I can give the devs the benefit that the game is super early in development but strictly speaking from my experiences with the other 2 games, Tanorio is a bit laggier and WAY more buggy. (Plus, I don't really like Voice Acting anyway so I turned it off but from the little I heard, it's alright I guess.) 6/10.

The switching nonsense, I can explain. In Pokémon there are two settings for playing through the game, one for more of a challenge and one for casual play. "Shift" is the casual setting, where you get to switch when defeating an enemy Tanorian. "Set" is the game's base setting, which is meant to mimic what its like to fight against actual people. Since against a real person you don't get the privelage of a free switch.

Brick Bronze is often down, but it's still being worked on and there's still update. A few month ago I played it and finished the game. Most of the time it will be up for a week or two and then it will get down for a few days.

If I understand correctly, PBB was downed five years ago by Nintendo for obvious reasons and the developers moved on. They are now developing Loomian legacy which is a game like pokemon but, just as Tales of Tanori, it got it's own monsters so it can't be downed.
Thing is people have been copying PBB because a lot of people wanted it back and that's why there is a lot of copy.
From what I've seen the og devs don't like the copies but some still remains and PBB Forever seems to be the best one right now.
So like, end of the story right? copy bad and og dev good. But... I think there is also others things to it.
I mean, ye, it's illegal (like 90% of game on roblox), but I'm pretty sure if Loomian legacy were to launch on steam it might be strike down by Nintendo too (I guess?) as it still ressemble a lot like pokemon but it's just that it's not the same monsters (with a few things changing). Also, PBBF seems to not just be a perfect copy... IT TOTALLY copied the og code but it added a bunch of things with it, and as I said, they are adding updates, as they are adding new routes, new gyms, new pokemons, new mechanics (they are trying to do Dynamax I think right now).

The devs looks very determined to still continue to care for the game, they are fighting every day to put the game up when it gets down, and when it's up they are trying to update the game.
Whereas, if you look at Loomian legacy. After 5 years of developing... It only has 4 arena (correct me if am wrong), which is like really slow (10 years to create 8 arena if it continues like that...).
I've also seen a lot of people talking about the frequency of the updates and losing interests in it(also with some data loss for some).
At the end of the story, I don't want to pick a side.
Yes, of course they are copying a game that has been downed, getting money with gamepasses, and the og developer have the rights to be angry with that and to try to create a new game.
But at the same time PBBF seem to nearly work as hard or maybe even harder than Loomian legacy's devs. (I might be wrong too)
I guess I just won't support any team in the end. I won't play PBBF, as it's not good morally i guess, but, if you really want to play a full pokemon game or just to play PBB again on roblox. Isn't it one the best choice at the moment? (this sounds really evil to say haha)

You should play the OG Roblox Pokemon game, Lumian Legacy. It’s like Pokemon and as you have described Tales of Tonorio (I still need to play it), but it has a few of its own mechanics. Would highly recommend 8/10 for me. Love the content keep up the good work eclipse.
Yeah some of these gripes, I understood while playing the game. Getting a crash and getting set back was a bother and the bug with the switching move info should get fixed.
Though, there are some things that are circumvented by settings. If u get thrown out the map or something similar, going into setting and unstuck will teleport your avatar next to the gate you exited beforehand.
And with the voice acting length of dialogue and/or quality, turning off voice acting will allow you to double tap through all of it like with the trainer npcs.

Tales of Tanorio is a really well made game. Since you liked it, I'd also recommend playing Loomian Legacy, which is also a Pokémon game that has many of the elements that you liked about Tanorio plus some more, so I think you would enjoy it as well.

Since you enjoyed this game, I recommend checking out Doodle World.
It’s another monster catching game made by the devs who used to work on Project Pokemon (arguably the 2nd best pokemon rip off before the purge), so you can tell they have experience.
While the graphics are not up to par with the others in the genre, the art style is very pleasing and the doodles are very cool!
Regarding the soundtrack, I’d say it’s pretty solid, but nothing playlist worthy imo.
Compared to Pokemon, the gameplay is harder but not to an intimidating extent. Also, the devs constantly make balance changes to address the thriving PVP community.
For the story, I find it pretty intriguing and as of writing, there’s still much to be revealed.
As a side note, there’s a lot of cosmetics that you can collect (skins, misprints & tints) and somewhat neat seasonal events.
Been following you since early YBA, and I’ve really enjoyed your commentary, keep up the good work!

Ok I love Pokemon's music and god damn did this capture the pokemon vibe perfectly while still having it's unique feeling.
For the intro, you can simply click the 'skip intro' button in the bottom middle side of the screen. As for the softlocking bug (specifically the mount glitching thing ) you can simply go to your settings and click the 'get unstuck' button.

you dont understand, some bugs make it so the gui isnt there (when its in loading screen or a cutscene) therefore you cant even access the get unstuck button and are forced to rejoin

My only problem, is that through route 1-4 the number of trainers got me tweaking, skill issue on my hand I never even went to a single pokestop (whatever you call that) to heal my tanorian so I had to fight about 30 trainers all the way to the fighter gym boss with only four tanorians 💀💀

Here's some corrections/extra info:
The game released march 10th, it was supposed to release mid February but it was delayed 3-4 times. The game first repeased with 40k players and is currently at around 2-3k on average.
Pokemon games have been telling u how effective ur moves are ever since generation 7 (gen 7 came out in 2016).
In pokemon, only certain trainers can be rematched, which isnt as big of a deal since u get better money and experience, so u dont need to grind as much. Think about it, what pokemon game expects ur mons to be around lvl 30-35 by the second gym leader?
Honestly, u can avoid 99% of ToT trainers by walking behind them or on top of them, but thats mainly due to a combination of oversight on the dev's part, and roblox jank.
Only the newest pokemon games allow u to switch moves straight through your menu.
There aren't really any items u can pick up off the ground in ToT.
In more recent pokemon titles, u can choose to either be allowed to switch whenever ur opponent's pokemon faints, OR not be able to and just skip to the next turn. This allows u to customize ur run a little more.
Yeah it sucks that the only way to skip dialogue is by turning off voice acting.
if u want my personal opinion on ToT, i think its pretty decent. it doesnt really do anything different from pokemon or any CCG game really, like eclipse said, but it does what it does well. the game had one of the worst launches in all of roblox history, going from 40k players to just 2k in a little over a week due to massive bugs and an overall lack of polish, but the game still has potential. if the devs make sure to give the game content updates at least once a month, it will be do pretty well.
Doubt they can do content updates once a month, or at least it wont be much content and lack quality. If they can do a decent sized and quality update like 3 times per year and fix some if its issues it should do pretty well. Look at loomian legacy having a main game update once every 1-2 years

I would much rather them delaying some events or adding less in them and focus more on main game updates but most people just want events as soon as possible and dont think about the game in the long run

You should give loomian legacy a shot, its in the same ballpark as this. Its not really P2W, there's some things that facilitate grinding that you can pay for (like an extra EXP charm) but it's not invasive like most roblox stuff.
(Idk how many people have suggested this to you, so if I'm sounding like a broken record, sorry!)
Overall, the game is made pretty decently and gameplay is good, it just feels like there were a LOT of finsihing touches that needed to happen before it launched. Also because I know it’ll show up somewhere, you actually can turn off Voice Acting in the settings to make the text go faster :)

To be fair for the intro you have to look at it from a demographical perspective. Whilst shiny hunting in groups I've seen some (presumably) younger ROBLOX players singing the song with each other in chat so clearly some groups do enjoy it.

Yo, great vid, small tip here, most trainers seem like you can’t avoid them when you can. Obviously there’s some exceptions but there’s a good amount of trainers where you can just squeeze right behind them and bypass them entirely. If there is any gap behind a trainer, you can like shimmy your way behind them without triggering the battle. Unlike Project Pokemon, the detection radius for these trainers is fairly low so doing that maneuver works fine.
Also, most soft locks fix themselves if you just wait like 2-3 minutes. It happened to me a few times but I started to talk about it in chat and the game just unsoftlocked itself. Although this didn’t work when the ruptures were broken
i really wasn't expecting you to like ToT, since it has quite a few bugs (especially at release)
heres some notes from me on the review:

If you turn off voice acting, you can skip the dialogue. But imo they should allow you to skip it with it on.
Overall, i believe the game needs some work, especially in the QOL department (the battles feel SO SLOW) but it definitely has alot of potential
About type effectiveness explanation in battles: that has existed since sun and moon iirc, which was on the 3ds in 2016.
About rebattling trainers: there have been a handful of roundabout ways of rebattling standard trainers, primarily a key item called the versus seeker, which allowed rebattling of certain trainers, sometimes upping the enemy team's levels and changing some moves. It took a bunch of stepsbto recharge every time though, and wasnt a 100% chance for a rematch, so it wasnt really useful most of the time.
In pokemon there always have been move re-learners. TOT goes by set rules from pokemon which were an option challenge in pokemon's settigs that didn't allow you to seitch. The "this kove is super effective" symbol was added in pokemon sword and shild.
The move relearners have always been tedious to get to, with this you can do it at any time on the fly. Also the super effective thing was added in Sun and Moon
@@gaminggamer7103 Well you do need a bit of risk when training up your mons in pokemon games. The move relearners are suppose to be mid game content, they generally appear when the games can't really be beat with only super effective moves on a speedy Pokémon .

7:00 There is an option available in pokemon where you can switch between either the set or shift battle modes. You have just explained the shift battle mode, where you can switch when you defeat your opponent's creature. However, the set battle mode is generally considered the standard because it is more challenging when fighting against NPCs, fairer when fighting against players, and ultimately easier from a development standpoint.
In (I believe) all pokemon games the switching after an enemy is defeated feature is always a toggle able setting set to be on by default. Competitively, this is always turned off, which is probably why this setting isn’t toggle able, so yeah it’s a downside.
Voice acting is most likely present in this game due to the extreme criticism modern pokemon games face for not having any sort of voice acting even though they’re run by a multi billion dollar corporation, and while I agree the voice acting HEAVILY varies in quality, I at least appreciate they have SOMETHING instead of nothing. Also, it’s toggle able in the settings, so if you want to blow past the text you can.

I noticed how the points he mentioned like changing moves was featured in the 9th game, and the type advantages being shown in the 8th game of Pokémon already exist and that not much is different from Pokémon and Tales of Tanorios features.
As someone known in the ToT community and has been following the game years before it released its nice seeing someone outside of the genre and someone who just reviews games give a good outsider view on this game cause it truely is a amazing game in my opinion. You did miss out on some topics like replayablity and such but for a non CCG player I get that. Overall really good video and I'm glad this game is getting some raw and actually fair critism.

7:04 so about this, in pokemon, there's something called switch and set mode, on default, every game is automatically set to switch mode, which means you can send in a pokemon directly after knocking out your opponents, while set mode you cannot.

Yes they added the effective typing showing on the moves, and re-fighting trainers been a thing since green was released for the Gameboy it's just a niece item instead of just talking to them again. Good video 👍
The amount of bugs is such a set back, I stopped playing multiple times because of game breaking bugs like sometimes trying to go trough a door and the screen turns black it kind of just teleports me to the bottom of the map. Sometimes when I also use my mount it also teleports me to the bottom of the map.
voice acting in pokemon is something many people wish since TPC/Nintendo probably does have the budget to allot for that

In terms of switching out Pokemon after you score a knockout that's called "set" mode, most Pokemon games nowadays have it in the settings as an option and it's run in tournaments. Usually people who play Pokemon nowadays will use the setting if they want a more difficult experience while playing the game. Imo whether or not you like this feature is subjective but I feel like it's important to note that it is an actual feature withen Pokemon .

I think I saw a trailer for this game like a year or two ago and I got hella excited but then it fell out of relevance and I forgot about it. But cool to see that it actually released, def will be playing later
ToT is alright if anything, on release I will say it was a buggy mess and they even mentioned delaying the original release date because it was even worse so i dread to think how bad it was. A lot of features remained buggy for a bit (the raid feature as one of them). There's some design inconsistencies with the tanostations (a few just don't look like the rest and blend in nearly too well unless you see a very specific pole outside them). I'd come back to it but first impressions have me set back a lot due to how bad it was on release. Though I will say this is often compared to Loomian Legacy, being another. It does some things better, and I will say it does do a few things worse (but its not as much). There's also the fact their update cycle (Tales) seems to be just pumping out constant event tanos to keep a player base (Loomain has done the same mind you, but they have shown developments of an entirely reworked pvp update, and yes I'm aware atlanthain part 2 took 2-3 years for people who are gonna bring that up in the end). Then again could be just because roblox players need constant weekly updates and can't wait a few months for one that's far higher quality. Just if you do plan to play ToT more, settings can disable the VA so you don't have to deal with it (Not blaming you for knowing you can turn it off since I don't think we all just go to the settings instantly to change things, took me until after the first gym till somebody told me about it)
And for those interested, yes I think LL outclasses ToT in so many ways.

The game may have it's issues, but this game is only in it's early stage of development and the game will get better in the future since they're a lot of patching happening in the game and more updates.
Also if you don't want to listen to the intro, you can just skip it and you can also turn off the voice acting so you can skip the dialogue. Plus there's an unstuck button in settings.

You can actually get rid of the dialogue problem disabling the Voice Acting on the settings. In that way, you can skip trough the dialogues really fast if you don't like *LORE* at all.
If TOT is rated this high, I’m curious on your thoughts on Loomian Legacy, as many of the roblox creature capturing community view it as a better and more polished game.
Try out Loomian Legacy, it's by the guy who made Pokemon Brick Bronze, which i had a lot of fun with. IDK if you're too interested in trying other pokemon-likes, but Loomian Legacy has different types from pokemon and has a lot more development (around the 4th or 6th gym, iirc, it's been like a year since i last played)

I think the quality of life in pokemon has become good too. In legends arceus, you can switch out your moves so that you wouldn't have to lose the current move you have. Plus, i think in scarlet and violent ( It started in sword and shield probably) You can now see if the moves on your pokemon will be effective on your opponents pokemon
Hey eclipse I like the vid just one thing I disagree with is not being able to dodge the other fighters I dodged every one but then I realised at the first gym my freind is overpowered so I gone back and used every one even the tuffest one to dodge on nature reserve still is dodge able

Not a big fan of being able to switch your moves from all the ones you learned freely tbh. The point of that was that you need to be careful in how you want to build each pokemon, if you make it this easy to switch movesets it takes a lot of the strategy of teambuilding away since you don't really have to worry much about it, cause you can technically have more than 4 moves on a pokemon at a time since you can switch whenever outside of battle. So while it seems like good qol it's more of an issue in the long run imo, and it's not like there aren't ways to relearn moves in traditional pokemon, but they actually take more effort than just switching in a menu if i remember correctly.

The only people mad are the game are the people who don’t like Pokémon. Like PEOPLE GOT MAD BECAUSE IT PLAYED LIKE A CREATURE CAPTURING GAME. That is exactly what they promised us and exactly what they gave. There were bugs on release sure but the devs worked very very hard to get them fixed and they have dropped 2 banger events for us for those bugs.

You might as well try out the other Pokémon likes (DoodleWorld and Loomian Legacy).
As for my personal opinion, I can give the devs the benefit that the game is super early in development but strictly speaking from my experiences with the other 2 games, Tanorio is a bit laggier and WAY more buggy. (Plus, I don't really like Voice Acting anyway so I turned it off but from the little I heard, it's alright I guess.)

The switching nonsense, I can explain. In Pokémon there are two settings for playing through the game, one for more of a challenge and one for casual play. "Shift" is the casual setting, where you get to switch when defeating an enemy Tanorian. "Set" is the game's base setting, which is meant to mimic what its like to fight against actual people. Since against a real person you don't get the privelage of a free switch.
from what you said seems like loomian legacy with a better artstyle and some better aspects so honestly i might play cause it looks cool
