Being an Argentine that moved to the USA, I can definitely say that we go through an identity crisis when we get here. The meaning of the word "latino" in Argentina has a different meaning as to what is perceived here. Mainly because here is very generalized. You have to remember, when a city or a business or any entity here in the US tries to create a "Latino week" event, their marketing team immediately comes up with things like enchiladas, sombreros, mariachi music, tamales. These four examples are generalizations of people who live just south of the border, and Latin America is way more diverse than that. So just like many people on this channel say that they never heard Argentineans say they are not Latinos maybe its because many of these people live in Argentina, as opposed to me living here in US and when I meet people and they find out I'm from Argentina, many of them say "How come Argentineans don't see themselves as Latinos and feel more Europeans?" That's a true fact because well, it's what I've experienced.
I’m in the U.S. too, came with my full Argentinian family, we definitely consider ourselves Latino/Hispanic and would be lying if we said we didn’t have some similarities to those countries
latinos refers to people that have cultural roots in latin base countries like spain portugal italy or greece. . since latin america has deep influence of spain and portugal, they are referred to as latinos. it is actually a correct term. argentinas culture is heavily influenced by spain

As an argentinian i have to say that this is unfair lol We do like to dance, and we usually dance reggeaton and cumbia or whatever its trendy at the boliche (disco) Yes, we sometimes play the "hot n cold" game but we do it because if not , you are perceived as an easy woman.Sadly. We don't see ourselves as europeans, or at least no one i've known says that. Yes maybe we have temper, if we want to be respected we have to. But we're not mean. And the mate part and dulce de leche is true. That's something all argentinians are proud of. Our food and culture.
I am an American man married to a Brazilian Woman and living in Curitiba. Sometimes the Brazilians and the Argentinians claim they don't get along and don't like each other, blah, blah, blah, blah. We spent a month in Argentina recently, BA, Patagonia, and the wine region around Mendoza, and the people are super nice and friendly to us. By the way, the women are beautiful!
My Argentine daughter married a Brazilian guy. The time she spent in Br she felt rejected by shopkeepers until her Portuguese was good enough to seem to be from another region and not Argentine. They moved back to Cordoba and he made many friends here in spite of his heavy Brazilian accent. He never suffered discrimination. They separated but he’s not leaving!
First, the "european not latino" is just a stereotype, more related to 15 years old boys in countryballs and meme pages. We do consider ourselves part of Latin America, but we don't fit in the american cliché of "tropical music and spicy food". Latin America is very diverse too Second, the snacks are very sweet because the mate is very bitter, that's the best way to savor a sweet eat, after drinking something very bitter, that's an epicurean rule. Final, yes, if you date an argentine, prepare yourself for lots of mind games, after 6 month of dating you will be tired as fuck that you will seek anything but the mental peace of being alone jajaja
Couldn't agree more, Hernan. Mind games are freaking exhausting. Unfortunately it's a trait of our women. Brazilian girls for example are not like that at all.
Do not end with my hopes. As a brazilian man we considered Argentinian woman sexy. I'm thinking to have a trip to there and now everyone saying about those mind games...

I lived in Buenos Aires last summer, and I made some many friends there. Argentinians are super friendly, open, and sexy. They consider themselves Latinos and they love reggaeton. As a Brazilian, I didn’t think of myself as Latina or liked reggaeton before going there. However, mis hermanos changed my mind, and now I see myself as Latina too. Anyways... I miss those boludos a lot. Pls, do a dating an Argentinian man.
Reggae is Jamaican. Caribbean Nubians. They don’t like Argentines. Tango is Argentine. Rock and roll and club (modern disco) people treat Argentines with more respect. Raggaeton is not Argentine. Those Argentines don’t know how other people feel about them. They need to talk to their parents and grandparents about people who hate them. I would not listen to music of people who consider themselves superior to us.

To evade those "latino identification" problem, people need to learn that "latino" is not a race, and Latin America is totally diverse. To each country their own, that's it.
The European thing is so misunderstood. We have had (for political and geographic reasons) a lot of European immigrant in our early stages as a country, making us have a high level of European descending (most of people have their grandparent o great grandparent Europeans). Because of that and our relationships with other countries we didn’t get to have that much connection with what Latin countries have or are, and that overcome in is being UNCOMFORTABLE (not disrespected) about being called Latinos, as we are not what you are picturing it.
Uruguay has 88% population of European descendancy, Argentina has 67%, and as a matter of fact I travelled trough the South America and funny thing is that majority of Argentinians I had met were proud of being "Europeans", to the extent that I laughed and told them that they think they are more Europeans than I am hahahahahah, with only difference that I was born in Europe and they weren't. By reading the comments about how Argentinians consider themselves Latinos, I can safely say this channel dropped the ball on the assumption that they consider themselves Europeans. An apology or statement should be in order. Stuff like this can create conflict with neighboring nations or used against Argentinians.
@@fayqui4977 that's fine, but the majority doesn't. Just read the comments, you'd think most Argentinians would jump proudly to comment about them being 100% Europeans and rub it in the faces of the rest of south america (like being European was some kind of a supreme being) but don't. They acknowledge they have European ancestry but what they're most proud of 1st is that they're Argentinian 2nd latin and then European.
Argentinians don’t generally refer to ourselves as Europeans, we are in Latin America we are Latin. Not everyone is of European descent, there is a general amount of native blood. That’s why a majority come out with brown skin and black hair. America considers us Europeans bc of the “white wash” and “white is right” in Argentinian media and the large representation of showing only white Argentinians. Again it’s an colorism and racism issue in the Argentina system itself.

I am from northern Argentina and I can assure you that in the whole country the Argentine woman shares the same DNA. She is proud, hardworking, independent, she is sincere and she is not afraid to say what she thinks and if you want to conquer her first you have to fall in love with her, because she does not surrender to the first man who faces her

I'm an Argentinian from San Juan which is located in the western part of the country. Most of the Argentine population actually has varying levels of native american ancestry, however the European ancestry is more dominant. In fact, about three quarters of the Argentine population is roughly 25% native american. The city of Buenos Aires and the province itself is very European (Spanish and Italian) though throughout the rest of the country the mestizo population is very dominant especially in the countryside.
"Oh, he f*cked up." I am in tears here lol. Your Filipina girl video was spot on and so hilarious so I will assume this one are just as accurate and entertaining. OMG, thank you for the laughs!
1:08 This is so true, that Brazilian people rival with hermanos even at this field of ''non self-assertive latin roots'. But, I think this is a phenomenon restricted of Porteños (people born in B. Aires) with their ''European sophisticated aura''. In Argentinian countryside they enjoy latinity (moods, culture, arts, not only in language field).
Funny thing is, Buenos Aires used to have a strong black community. Tango itself, one of Argentina's biggest cultural icons, started within those communities and has African roots (the candombe dances). That this heritage has been all but erased is no coincidence - there was an actual effort in making the city, and the country, more "European".
Nope. I am from the interior, latins are exotic and we have nothing in common. Perhaps you could say the north part has due the heavy presence of natives descendants, but in the pampean plain and patagonia not, we ain't latinos (find the Cuarteto de Nos uruguayan band "No somos Latinos".
I dated two argentinian girls and I think all is true. I would add that they are really competitive as well, dramatic I would say at extreme and play hard most of the time. But the same time really passionate and good lovers. About the friends thing is a big deal specially because argentinians usually are not as friendly as other latin american countries (I am mexican) so at the bigging if you are not a social person can be a hard but to crack, so the best is to play relax and also act more like a friend in a lover way then to pretend that you are going really deep serious all the time
I agree but in the part that you said that we dont like to be called Latinos thats not true . Of course we are proud of European descendent but we also love our born place
The thing about "keeping up with the trends" is so true. I don't know how, but from one day to other girls and boys are wearing exactly the same jumper from the same brand in the same colour and you NEED to have that bloody jumper as soon as possible. Right now everyone is using cargo pants and neon shit. Is it cute? Not really, but somehow I have like 5 neon shirts and two cargos.
we don't get offended if someone call us latin because we are, but it can bother us sometimes if you say something about tacos or salsa or latin stereotypes that don't apply to Argentina
It's funny how people think that Italians are the only ones that do hand gestures when speaking, but it's actually just anyone that is Hispanic, Brazilian, Portuguese, Italian, French, Quebecois, Romanian, and Moldovan that do hand gestures when speaking.
_For Argentinian girls who commented here, the “hard to get” thing isn’t necessary. since the real problem is actually the sexist man on our society_ You can show interested, you can sleep with a guy on the first date, you can do whatever u want and still u have the right to be respected. And if someone calls u a prostitute, just ignore people’s opinion and be yourself and do what u wanna do,
You could say this, but even if she wants to sleep with you, most of them will play hard to get because they don't want to look like an "easy girl". The thing is that so much self protection can be really annoying for us and we end up losing attraction for them.

I’m an Argentinian living in the US. We do not perceive ourselves as Europeans. The problem is that North Americans perceive Latinos and everyone else in a very stereotypical way. What we know today as America (the continent) is the result of colonization, genocide of the native peoples, slavery and immigration from other continents. All the countries on this continent are very complex in terms of ethnicity and culture. European immigration and heritage is only one part of the complex process that Argentina has gone through since the European conquest. Let's celebrate cultural diversity and not stupid and wrong stereotypes.

SPOT ON!!! 1) it's not that argentinians think themselves more European. It's that we ARE. Because of how much volume of Spaniards, French and Italians converged into the country, the average citizen has more factions of a typical European, than most South Americans. Most Argentinians can easily blend into Europe. 2) Argentina was for a very long time the South capital of Fashion and Vogue. Everything came first to Argentina, then to the rest of the continent. 3) depending on where you are, it's a terrible offense to stir the "bombilla".

We spent a month in Argentina recently, BA, Patagonia, and the wine region around Mendoza, and the people are super nice and friendly to us. By the way, the women are beautiful!
That is because of Futbol and futbol only.
Latin America is very diverse too
Second, the snacks are very sweet because the mate is very bitter, that's the best way to savor a sweet eat, after drinking something very bitter, that's an epicurean rule.

Ya po
we don't get offended if someone call us latin because we are, but it can bother us sometimes if you say something about tacos or salsa or latin stereotypes that don't apply to Argentina
It's funny how people think that Italians are the only ones that do hand gestures when speaking, but it's actually just anyone that is Hispanic, Brazilian, Portuguese, Italian, French, Quebecois, Romanian, and Moldovan that do hand gestures when speaking.
As italian, I love your comment. Finally the truth.
I haven't notice Romanians do it and I know maaany of them
Dont forget Arabs
_For Argentinian girls who commented here, the “hard to get” thing isn’t necessary. since the real problem is actually the sexist man on our society_
You can show interested, you can sleep with a guy on the first date, you can do whatever u want and still u have the right to be respected.
I'm Argentinian, and I'm so proud being Latin
I have a good friend from BS AS and this video reminded me so much about her. I’ve learned all her characteristics over time and your video is spot on lol
I am from Argentina and everyone says we are latinos, and we love to dance, most of the people from Argentina dance to Reggaetón and cumbia, so that part is wrong
well... I'm Argentinian and i consider myself like European cuz all my family are more european than Latino, i hate dance and reggaeton/cumbia music, it's not so wrong but some people are very different
Vos sola, habla por vos.Es una mierda el reggaeton
"Hot and Cold game" = Son histéricas
"Dramatic. Expressive. Passionate" = Son histéricas
Seriuosly, why he moved that Bombilla around the Mate?!
It is clearly not a spoon. So, why?
Argentina is a blend of Spain and Italy.
More like a Spanish cartoon parody of Italy
I wish,...but sadly is too much mix and "diversity" in the nation... i really wish that argentina was a italian-spaniard "ONLY" mixed thing.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes it is.
-Los argentinos no tenemos ningún problema con que nos llamen como lo que somos, LATINOS y con mucho orgullo
-Argentines have no problem with being called what we are, LATINOS and with great pride
Spanish, Russians, Germans and Italians mix them all together you get a Argentina. From what I understand Argentina has the most psychiatrists per capita in South America. My favorite Argentinian joke is, (There was a riot in Argentina and a soccer game broke out).
You forgetting French, Jews and Middle Easterners.
@@lissandrafreljord7913 especially Jews, Argentina is one of the four countries with the most Jewish descendants in the world
@@reginaschanzenbach8970 yes lol
Not only in South America, we got the mosty psychiatrist per capita in the WHOLE WORLD.
I love the Yerba Mate scene giving no context to why he messed up.
Argentinos always brag about being white.
Her dropping that F-Bomb made this more relatable
Awww, I miss hearing Marina say "Keep on breaking down your barriers!" It's kinda like the cherry on top.
I forgot! Will keep doing it ;)
They are proper "Latinos": 60% Italian + 40% Spanish, roughly. Then there are many other significant ethnicities: Slavs, German, Welsh, etc.
Really felt bad for the guy when he went for that booty call fiasco 😂😂😂
VAMOS ARGENTINA CARAJO!!!!!!
Finaly you made one about argentina, loved it 💕💕. Wish you all the best😜😜
Me hablaban en Español :
"querido si te tomas un café más te volves loco"
"shamalo recopado como sho"
Que recuerdos
They are so similar to Italians!
No

@@Matttiiiaaasss I don't understand
@@Maho351 that the inglaterros are equal to those of usa

To much trouble and drama.
Couldn't agree more. She has many protocols.
meh i think she had good points most of the time
@@Leucci11 dude what in the world are you talking about? Didn't you see how mean and complicated she was to that guy? She has zero understanding of interracial relationships.
@@emmanuelperez9490 im not even argentinian fyi but i dont see any issues here's why 1. She expected him to know she's not mexican or at least not to throw stereotypes at her, which is fair 2. she invited him over at a party where her friends are - which is usually a great idea, so to see how the guy reacts with others (some change soo much) 3. she got upset he wasn't making enough effort to hang out with her friends, also a very valid point, if your partner doesnt like your friends the relationship is doomed - though to be fair, he had a point with being annoyed at everyone speaking a language he doesn't understand fully; 4. they just made fun of him for how he tried to drink Mate. All this while smiling.
Definitely. Plus, even if they're as hot as fuck, they consider themselves like at the top of the world and you're like a non-deserver of this beauty
Okay, Argentinian woman here:
-No one calls themselves Europeans. We flipped Spain off two hundred years ago, and aren't in a rush to be an European colony again.
-Mind games? No.
-Eleven pm is like really early. Some kids go to sleep at that time. And parties? Usually start at twelve-one am.
-Trends? Only if you have money and time.
-Yeah, okay, we are kinda dramatic. But friends always come first.
-We do have a lot of sweets.
-WHY DID HE MOVE THE BOMBILLA. WHY. GIRL, BREAK UP WITH HIM.
No mind games? Yeah right. Full of histéricas everywhere
If the truth is that in Argentina there are still many people in the street until 2:00 a.m., children usually sleep at 1:00 a.m., or at least my friends and their parents made us sleep at that time limit
I almost had a heart attack when he started to move the bombilla of the mate 😂😂😂
yup! spot on. this is Argentinas to a T! Oh and get used to the MATE.. my girl canot leave the house without it.
My husband (he's Russian) still doesn't completely understand the drama and passionate side of our character. We can tell men "fuck yourself" and going aparto from him gesticulating with the hands, and speaking Spanish and three hours later be very lovely
5:36 This is not crank , if you stirr la ''bombilla'' mate will be obstructed and you lost your ''rodada'' (turn)
También me encanta que la amiga de flequillo sea RE intensa 😂 un cago de risa
Tango is such an intimate dance. I really enjoyed learning it and am going to pick it back up soon.
Argentinians only give ONE kiss to say hi! 2 kisses in Spain, Italy, etc etc
Nah, in other province like Corrientes, Resistencia, Formosa, etc., Give two kisses to greet.
In Mendoza too
No, you're so wrong
And everybody gets a kiss! (once there's enough confidence)
Ruben Nogueira we kiss everybody (just for say hi) but in Mendoza is only one kiss
Argentinean living in Brazil here. This was pretty accurate.
You soil either be told off, shouted at, insulted, or even knifed because of it. I'm not joking.
