Just found this recipe! Was looking how to use up what I had. Thankfully inflation is coming down now. Plus I have 7 laying hens and I got a rooster right before the pandemic and thank God he made my chickens lay like crazy! I managed to keep me and my elderly two neighbors in eggs.
I cooked a cup of brown rice the night before with BtB broth and added it during the cooking process. I cooked for zero minutes and did a QR. It is excellent. I like that the recipe is very customizeable.
Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! For a rookie like me, this veggie soup looks perfect. Thanks SO much, Jeffrey. You are the best UA-camr for Instant Potters, of all levels. God BLESS you.
Chef from pressure luck,,, I love your vids. You are not only such a great chef and a great entertainer but also a poet. “That’s rich and flavour @ a budget to saver” and when you say, “you never realise a flavour so deep could cost so cheap” chef’s 💋. And let’s not forget your expressions, an Italian thru and thru. I never get enough of your vid. Thanks a lot🙏🙏🙏
Loving this low budget - and low fat! - recipe. Personally, I'd add a bay leaf, beans, and barley, to make it heartier and with richer flavour. A few splashes of fish sauce too.
I do something similar to this but I cook some tortellini separately and drop a few in the bowl when I serve the soup. Yum! And keeping them separate keeps them from getting all soggy
For more depth in flavor an old trick I was taught was to use a small can You know the individual kind of V8 juice brings out flavor like your celery and things and colors the soup if you are using maybe a beef base or chicken then using it for years and years in fact the way things are changing with food these days I am going out and buying my first pressure cooker I am from the generation that used to be afraid of these things because of the horror stories back in the '50s
Never crossed my mind to try vegetable soup with the pressure cooker I add sausage and barley, goes great w/ grilled cheese. Saves so much money. So awesome!
I love the almost poem in the beginning. *You could feed 6-8 people on $5. I think having a simple and cheap dump-and-go cookbook is what the world needs right now. Conditions apply: you need to have previously bought an Instant Pot, Better Than Bouillon Vegetable flavor, and of course have clean water and electricity.
I haven't thought of vegetable soup for years. My mom used to make it and I hated it, Well, I finally grew up, and it sounds delicious. So I went to two stores and they didn't have plain vegetables So I stopped at Dollar General and bought 4 cans of vegetables and one can of tomotoe sauce, and added two cans of stewed spicy tomatoes. Also added 2 cups of left over bbq hamburger.Added a half bag of frozen broccoli, Then some homemade curry. thanks for the indestructible recipes. Also threw in a can of blackeyd peas for protein I am using a 6 quart pot as my Instant pot is making your fabulous yogurt.
I made this recipe today. I had chicken boullion mix instead, but no matter. I let it naturally release for three minutes, only because I was doing something else. Anyway, it is yummy in my tummy! Will make again.
My mom used to make this almost exact recipe, while I was growing up, in the crock pot. It was a dump and go meal as she worked long hours in the hospital. The only difference is she added beef cubes and ketchup. She said the ketchup was the secret ingredient
That looks great so far! You sold me on BTB about 5 years ago! We had a store here in St. Louis called Shop 'N' Save but they closed down a few years ago and I do miss them! As always my absolute very very best wishes to you, Richard, and Banjo! Take care, all! 😀
You are a joy to watch and learn from.....thanks so much. I've made many of your recipes and your Chile is the bomb.....I actually make a huge pot of it and pressure canned it. But most of all, your podcasts are enjoyable and your personality just come thru. Thanks!
Going to make this tomorrow but include some gemstone potatoes (cut in 4ths) and do some sauteed onion and celery. I am hoping an extra minute in the pressure cooker will be enough for small pieces of potato. I use the gemstone potatoes in my stew and they come out perfect every time.
Thank you for this. Frozen vegetables at my local store are very expensive, but I shall look elsewhere for frozen vegetables. I always forget to look! This is a great base, or good on its own.
Another cheap recipe is your minestrone soup. All of the ingredients can be bought for $10 and it serves AT LEAST 10. A single person can have lunch and dinner for the work week for just $10. Definitely needed in these expensive times.
5$ vegetable soup, and it could even become a hearty soup with a grain or pasta for an extra dollar or so. We need more budget recipes. Hope you're next cookbook will be budget based
Jeffery, love the idea... similar to a soup I've made since college (back before cell phones and only had a PC/Mac at the lab)! Curious, how did you use this to lose weight? Portion/nutrition estimate? Big thanks! BTW, I went all out with the sin... Lowery's and some other spice! (and a bit of hot sauce!)
Hiiiii Jeffrey! I’ll definitely be making this soup recipe. Thank you for sharing! Guess what we’re having for dinner tonight…..Your IP BBQ ribs! I cannot wait! ❤ Take care!
That better than boulion is so salty . i ruined chicken noodle dinner using it .. I make veg soup hamburger tomato juice. Can broth . bag veg usally a big bag . crock pot all day . i add can diced patatoes . i pressure cook it days im in a hurry . cook berger first drain.
Hey man, you still had around fifty cents left. You know what you can add that will go along with that soup that should push you to five bucks? Thin and crispy corn pones. You're welcome. :) Cheers from Georgia.
You gave me a heart attack at the price of Progresso soup in your area! In Michigan, it is around $2 per can. Still more than if you make it yourself, but edible if there is no power.
I just got your books the other day! Ive been wanting to try and eat healthier and since we had an IP (that id never really used) and I had seen your channel I decided to try it out. I made your Penny Penne the other day and I feel in love with it (so much so that I got the ingredients for two more batches~). Can't wait to try more recipes!
The view into your Instant Pot was kind of dirty in my opinion. No, I'm not OCD, I just like to see a shiny pot. I would recommend, if you want your pot to look cleaner get some Barkeepers Friend, and scrub gently with that after washing. You'll be amazed at the results.
Great presentation. I wish expats reflect the good of their Nationality, especially seems Americans are leading the poor reflection of us. As I mentioned many times and you probably tired of me typing, the American expat has so changed lately and not for the good.

I love hearing stories of people helping their neighbors, especially the elderly
Oh. My. Goodness!!!!! For a rookie like me, this veggie soup looks perfect. Thanks SO much, Jeffrey. You are the best UA-camr for Instant Potters, of all levels. God BLESS you.
Could definitely use a lot more low budget recipes for these difficult times. A+
Like TheWolfePit, but for pressure cookers...👍👍
his new book is out in April has just what you asked for!

I love your budget recipes. Helps everyone out right now. Thank you

I was thinking of doing that, thank you!
Not only do I enjoy your recipes, but your presentation is always a delight. You make me laugh and your sense of humor is awesome.
You’re the best!!

One of my favorite recipes you’ve done is the rump roast but i’m very excited for this one! 🙌🏼 i always appreciate the singing!

I think a Parmesan rind would be good to add to this. (Of course that brings up the cost.)
I made this recipe today. I had chicken boullion mix instead, but no matter. I let it naturally release for three minutes, only because I was doing something else. Anyway, it is yummy in my tummy! Will make again.
This looks so good, can't wait to try it and I love eating my soup in a mug as well.
My mom used to make this almost exact recipe, while I was growing up, in the crock pot. It was a dump and go meal as she worked long hours in the hospital. The only difference is she added beef cubes and ketchup. She said the ketchup was the secret ingredient
This looks wonderful! More of these recipes please.
I have found that if you make the soup without the veg, and then when it's done put the veg in, it's a lot better. Veg doesn't get mushy.
This is almost identical to the veggie soup I've been making for years. To add just a little zing to it, I also add a single serving can of Spicy V-8.
I still love your corned beef recipe! I make it pretty often. Love your work!
I like to add Barley to soups like this. A box will make two to three batches of soup. Very economical.
Looks so yummy :) Love your recipes! If you wanted to add barley, how long would you cook this for?
That looks great so far! You sold me on BTB about 5 years ago! We had a store here in St. Louis called Shop 'N' Save but they closed down a few years ago and I do miss them! As always my absolute very very best wishes to you, Richard, and Banjo! Take care, all! 😀
You are amazing! We are a family of three and to have one that is $5.00 for at least 6 people is wonderful
You're on a roll Jeff, your rhyming is blardy on point!
You are a joy to watch and learn from.....thanks so much. I've made many of your recipes and your Chile is the bomb.....I actually make a huge pot of it and pressure canned it. But most of all, your podcasts are enjoyable and your personality just come thru. Thanks!
I have used canned marinara to make this and added potatoes to stretch the soup
If barley is added how long would you cook in IP?
I like to add elbow noodles for more substance.

I add Potato Slayer to almost every dish I cook. The spices are absolutely perfect!
Love love love your videos 👍🏼Have tried several of you recipes and they are outstanding.
Love Shop rite as well, here in Scranton 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow! This is amazing how delicious this is! I honestly questioned the recommendation. I won’t question you again.
Thank you for this. Frozen vegetables at my local store are very expensive, but I shall look elsewhere for frozen vegetables. I always forget to look! This is a great base, or good on its own.
Personally, I am going to put 2 pounds of browned ground beef in it! 😀
Best kind of veg soup
Budget friendly and healthy
This is a great idea!! Even my husband could do this!
Another cheap recipe is your minestrone soup. All of the ingredients can be bought for $10 and it serves AT LEAST 10. A single person can have lunch and dinner for the work week for just $10. Definitely needed in these expensive times.
I made this that night but added hamburger. It needed more flavor, so I added leftover taco meat the next day for my lunch. Delicious
This was so good I added ground beef so easy only spent $8 since I had the beef at home
5$ vegetable soup, and it could even become a hearty soup with a grain or pasta for an extra dollar or so. We need more budget recipes. Hope you're next cookbook will be budget based
If memory serves, I've always remembered having garbanzo beans in my vegetable soup.
I'm going to have to try this recipe and add the garbanzos.
You can totally add them!
Looks yummy and cheap is always great! 😁
Would be interesting to see what needs to be done to add barley
It wouldn't cost much more to add some potatoes.
This soup was good, gonna do my second batch with a pound of ground chuck
Jeffery, love the idea... similar to a soup I've made since college (back before cell phones and only had a PC/Mac at the lab)! Curious, how did you use this to lose weight? Portion/nutrition estimate? Big thanks! BTW, I went all out with the sin... Lowery's and some other spice! (and a bit of hot sauce!)
You’re the best. ❤❤❤
Better than Bouillon was $6.49 at my grocery today! It's been going up for years.
Hiiiii Jeffrey! I’ll definitely be making this soup recipe. Thank you for sharing! Guess what we’re having for dinner tonight…..Your IP BBQ ribs! I cannot wait! ❤ Take care!
With a one minute cook time, I would toss a cup of Quina in there too.
Wow this dish requires 0 chopping, suits me
I have made this twice so far. It is as good as it is as easy.
BARLEY. RICE. ORZO...alphabet pasta....all sort of fun things to add.
Don’t forget to check your digital coupons! Ya… I love me a ShopRite too!
i like to add chopped cabbage to this recipe
brilliant.
Add a small macaroni about 1/2 cup.
Looks good
That better than boulion is so salty . i ruined chicken noodle dinner using it .. I make veg soup hamburger tomato juice. Can broth . bag veg usally a big bag . crock pot all day . i add can diced patatoes . i pressure cook it days im in a hurry . cook berger first drain.
Great idea using the frozen mixed veg. Big Soup. Small effort.
Great video.
How about a nice grilled cheese sandwich to go with
It’s a joke. Better than Bouillon $11.99 in Canada vs 4.99 in USA
Per bowl may be 😊
Making this today adding beef 🙂
Does Better Than Boullion make a low-sodium version? I love using it, but I need to add extra water because I find it too salty.
Can we get a version of this with barley like the canned progresso?
Wow, needs seasoning, pepper basil, thyme, salt etc
I made vegetable soup yesterday, but we have to have cabbage in ours.
Where’s Richard
8:58 so…could you use the BirdsEye white rice and veggie blend as part of the frozen veg mix?
If I omit pasta and potatoes from the recipe does this soup freeze well?
I know you also mentioned
*Better Than Bouillon*, do you find it saltier when using it in recipes than the cartons of broth?
They have low sodium versions of that bouillon...it's great.
@@kimberlyd9049 I was really just curious about the regular jars of Better Than, but thank you
Tossing a bunch of spinach is even better.
FJB
Hey man, you still had around fifty cents left. You know what you can add that will go along with that soup that should push you to five bucks?
Thin and crispy corn pones.
You're welcome.
:)
Cheers from Georgia.
Buccee! Canned soup has put less veggies and meat
You gave me a heart attack at the price of Progresso soup in your area! In Michigan, it is around $2 per can. Still more than if you make it yourself, but edible if there is no power.
Instead of cookbooks and youtube id like to see dvd collection?
$4.39 for a can of Progresso? Those are Manhattan Bodega prices.
Imagine some noodles and shredded chicken in there O.o
I like your recipe, Jeffrey, all it needs is some meat. 😉
You are SUCH a hoot! Thanks, Jeffrey!
The view into your Instant Pot was kind of dirty in my opinion. No, I'm not OCD, I just like to see a shiny pot. I would recommend, if you want your pot to look cleaner get some Barkeepers Friend, and scrub gently with that after washing. You'll be amazed at the results.
I dont care how the pot looks, thanks for the cost saving recipe. Canned soup is too salty for me. 💯
You forgot cabbage
Wow this guy is camper than a row of tents! 😂
Jeff's as hot... as an Instant Pot.
Great presentation. I wish expats reflect the good of their Nationality, especially seems Americans are leading the poor reflection of us. As I mentioned many times and you probably tired of me typing, the American expat has so changed lately and not for the good.
Inflation. Thanks U.S. Govt. Thank Biden.
🥣
Eat vegetables and grains, drop the animal products (meat & dairy) and save a bundle, no mystery here.
Biden soup love it!
Thank you so much from Canada
You forgot the alphabet noodles.
Imagine some noodles and shredded chicken in there O.o
