To answer poppt’s question, in psychology, there’s something called the Yerkes-Dodson Law, which basically says that too low or too high physical or mental arousal (not the sexual kind) causes us to perform poorly in whatever we’re doing, and we need a good balance in arousal to have an optimal performance (related to flow state). This law is shown through a bell curve and explains why Holly accidentally locked herself outside in a high-stress situation. tldr: if we’re too lazy or anxious when doing something we tend to mess up. Love the pod btw
From the way Jordan described his surgery, it sounds like he has to get Mohs Surgery. My dad had to get this done for a spot on his nose. It was very large, and the surgery took longer than expected, but it has a very high chance of success and according the doctors, it is basically a 100% chance that they remove it all because the surgery its used for is to remove skin cancers that have a very low chance of spreading. My dad got the surgery after a heart attack (like 3 months after), and still healed up just fine in about a month. Not to say it isnt serious, but trust the doctors and try not to worry too much, the surgery sounds scarier than it is! Best of luck Jordan!
IDEAS FOR A SEGMENT: - Jackson brings some words to the other 3. They don’t know if it’s a real word or not, and he spells out and gives a definition for each, then they try to guess if it’s real or not (this was inspired by Jordan saying Stroppy, which I didn’t know was a word- not used in the US much) - BS History: everyone- but probably best for Jordan- is given a random war on Wikipedia, but the catch is you only get the name, date, and countries involved (e.g., War of 1812, 1812-1815, USA and Britain); Jordan’s goal is to come up with a plausible reason for why they are fighting. If he’s close, he gets a point. (As I’m writing this, I realize there may be a better version…) - BS History (v2 lul): someone (probably Jackson) finds some random, hopefully pretty obscure war on wiki. He then tries to creates some fake ones (e.g., pulls inspiration from Star Wars or GoT or something), and the group has to guess which is the real war in History and which is the fake one - Marry, F*ck, Kill but with countries: someone chooses 3 random places/countries and you have to choose to live there (marry), visit there (f*ck), or can’t be bothered (kill) - thanks for listening to my words, From a Patreon audio viewer
8:45 the entire story is : they filmed people collecting spaghetti from trees in Ticino (Switzerland) saying that the harvest was great this year (1957), and it was broadcast by the BBC and many English people believed it because most pasta were bought in tin can at the time, therefore they couldn’t know.
Jordan, sorry to hear about the diagnosis. I got diagnosed with Melanoma when I was 20. After 4 gnarly surgeries and over a pound of skin removed from my back I’m now cancer free. I appreciate the light heartedness, and I know Christians are easily made fun of on this channel(which is funny, everyone should be fair game) but I’ll be praying for you man💪🏼
I used to work at a steakhouse and we had commoners that would order blue rare steaks sometimes and we just grabbed it out of the cooler, grilled the edges a bit and sent it out. Disgusting. we also had one guy that would come in about once a week. he would tell us he would be there in 5 mins. We knew his order so we got it done and he would show up like 15-20 mins later and his steak would be so cooked that it curves in on itself and cant lay flat anymore.
@raianz828 that might just be cause they’re not used to being on camera as much? Orrrrr you may be right and they don’t like eachother, idk I’ve never thought about that hahah
My grandfather had gotten skin cancer from being out in the sun and ended up killing him, but it sounds less extreme on Jordan's end. When he died, it really impacted our family and I don't want his family and friends to go through what I did. Hoping for the best and speediest recovery for you. Good luck on your battle and we know you'll succeed against skin cancer.
The part about steak cooking names confused the heck out of me. What is the idea behind those? For clarification in German we call them "Blutig"(bloody), "Medium"(that one is self-explanatory) and "Durch" (through). Sure, it depends on the region what you call it but your on the safe side with these.
Funny story, on the whole twin thing switching classes, a girl in my English class has an identical twin with a sister, and we’re all seniors for context. We play a class game called spoons where someone has a target each week and has to steal the plastic spoon that their target carries and every player has a plastic spoon. So the twins switched classes in order to get the girl sitting next to one of the twins in my English class, but literally nobody knew until everybody heard her announce she had stolen the spoon. It was actually so crazy seeing a completely different person successfully get away with switching classes all for a joke and a game, it was so funny. I have the video still and everytime I watch it I crack up.
I’m glad the underdogs are upgrading their equipment, but I really hope there’s not too many visual related bits as I am exclusively an audio listener and I love this podcast.
Despite everyone laughing about it, when Jordan said he had cancer I Legit started tearing up, but luckily it's low risk, I hope you recovery soon Jordan!
27:16 Worst story ever. I work at Coles (a grocery supermarket for non-Aussies) and some kids (probably 9-13) came up to me and asked if we have prime and I was confused cuz I wasn't thinking about it then they laughed like I was dumb because I didn't know it. Almost erradicated the child
Golf courses have a schedule of tee times and who used the course at what time. If you give them a time frame for when the ball could have smashed the window they can look at who was on the course at the time and question them.
As someone who had skin cancer before at a young age, I know it's scary to hear (and important to monitor in the future)! It's wild that a mole can essentially kill you... Wish Jordan the best and a quick process/recovery!!! This episode was WILD btw
The problem with prime is, it doesn't actually function well as a sports drink, as it has way too much pottassium, and not much of any other electrolytes. You don't actually burn much potassium during a workout, but potassium tastes better than sodium in a sugary drink, so they use it, just to say they have tons of electrolytes an not a lot of sugar.
As a Mormon, soaking is NOT a real thing. I’m sure it’s supposed to be a joke, but I’ve literally never heard of that until last year and all of a sudden everyone thinks we do it. Idk, it’s the new “Mormons = 7 wives” or whatever. Smh but still lmao
I know I like you guys a lot. I watch/rewatch all the vids on ALL channels. I sub to the Patreon for the extra content. I'm aware that I'm a fan. But wow. The shock and sadness I felt when hearing Jordan say that he has cancer felt like a friend saying it to my face -as cringe as that may be to type. I'm glad it's on the lower end of the spectrum of bad cancers. You seem to be in good hands doctors and surgeons in Australia are bound to have a lot of practice and research for the type you have. I wish you a speedy recovery
57:54 philosophy fun fact : According to Popper, human evolved really quickly on the cultural and technological side since -10’000 years, however in this period of time the human body don’t evolve that much and is almost the same today as it was 10’000 year ago, and that’s why our instincts aren’t adapted to modern society. For exemple when you are in position of inferiority in a bad situation against someone you will put yourself in a position in which it’s easier to hit someone with your hand (you will put yourself on battle mode you could say).
I've heard the Underdogs talk about prawns a few times, and I just now learned in this podcast that they're shrimp. I thought it was just an obscure sea food unique to Australia lol
The underdogs should do a segment where someone reads off inanimate objects and they group decides who best personifies that item. Ex: Pillow: Jackson Hot air balloon: Jordan etc.
So for anyone who likes the April fools day pokemon you can just use the command "/afd" Without the quotations. It's a shame that all that effort goes into drawing it, only to be seen for one day. Anyway it's funny, and this way you can see them whenever.
I am beginning to understand why everyone says Poppt1 is secretly the funniest underdog. How do you make revealing that you have literal fucking cancer actually funny?? Fuckin hell Jordan, that was some god tier comedic timing. Everyone (myself included) feeling awful for laughing. Good luck with your recovery!
I also have cancer. Have a brain tumor instead of skin cancer but still equally terrifying. Thankfully I'm similar to jordan in that it's probably pretty harmless.
As a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints (mormon) I have never heard of... soaking, and that definitely caught me off guard... also, I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers Jordan i wish you all the best
This went from the most inane podcast to one of the more piercing ones, wishing the absolute best for Jordan, I’ll be keeping him in my thoughts ❤
Jordan: "I got cancer everyone"
Underdogs: 😂😂😂
He is the funniest
15:38 has to be the wildest thing in the history of the channel, I wish you a speedy recovery Jordan ❤

15:39 funniest moment in the podcast history.
The girlfriends need to get together and create their own channel called the “undercats”! 😂😂
@raianz828 that might just be cause they’re not used to being on camera as much? Orrrrr you may be right and they don’t like eachother, idk I’ve never thought about that hahah
18:13 look at their legs jordan is left out
15:38 Is that really Jordan brought up how he has Cancer
41:25 i dont know why but jordan just saying fuck you in a straight voice is the funniest thing in the world to me

Honestly, thinking of Old Z posting his first birdwatching video gives me something to look forward to in life.
Jordan is a comedy genius 15:34
I was dying laughing and then I had to rewind on what Jordan said and was shocked. Much love and I wish for a quick recovery to you Jordan ❤

I thought the thumbnail was of Jordan wanting a refund for Resident Evil 4 because I thought the Karen-Cut was Leon’s hair

15:28 I agree, it's time to pull out of this conversation.
Big fan of the way Jordan just says things.
"Back in the day it was like 'Here comes the bear; run.'"
I'm so glad I know English so I can appreciate your wordplay
When a steak is "Blue" it's the style it's prepared. The pan is set on a blue flame the steaks is then seared on each side and served
