    Weiter so!

    From sport auto...The Porsche best time of the GT3 was also driven with a new and pre-heated wheel set - due to the rather low outside temperatures, Porsche set on a similar procedure as Mercedes-AMG at the well-known super-race of the GT R. In the same way as the Porsche test drivers, we do not only compete with the same vehicle, which also set the Porsche best time, but also with a non-road racing racing seat from the 911 racing car GT3 Cup. Quite honestly, the feeling is already safer than having a Seriensitz with three-point gurge

    Outstanding! Love watching Christian drive! I can't wait for my 991.2 GT3. I'm from Dallas, TX, but am in Stuttgart this morning and plan to drive to the Ring later today. I have a new BMW 520d loaner. Probably need to get a faster car for the Ring run. Haha.

      So boring with PDK though. I'm looking forward to the manual lap where Christian will be slower no doubt but have much more to do behind the wheel. Some proper driving skill on show.

      DrPittenstein I don't think that they will lap the Nordschleife with the manual. But maybe Hockenheim

      Shame it would be really interesting to see what PDK is worth around the NS. Less than many on the internet would believe I reckon.

      Sport auto tell PDK car Is only 3 seconds faster than stick shift car on the lap when Timo Kluck did test that on the 28 april.

    • @quikagc5
      @quikagc5 7 років тому +2

      DrPittenstein I'll be honest. I didn't really like the cable actuation in my GT4 shifting. It's a smooth shifter when running hard, but around town short shifting, the shift feel would sometimes vary, almost like another small detent. So for that reason, I'm going to PDK in my 991.2 GT3. I do like shifting though and will keep my Vette with a six-speed manual. It has a shift linkage versus cables and I'm more used to that feel personally.

    Flugplatz und Mutkurve, da sind die Eier bisschen gewachsen :) Super Job Herr Gebhardt.
    Schade das die alten Zeiten nicht mit den neuen vergleichbar sind. Meiner Meinung nach ist der Christian schneller als Herr von Saurma und das meine ich mit vollem Respekt für beide.
    Ich glaube auch das auf Porsche harte Zeiten zukommen. Über Jahrzehnte hat Porsche mit besserem Know-how die Konkurrenz mit dem schlechteren Konzept (Heckmotor vs. Mittelmotor und Frontmittelmotor) geschlagen.
    Evtl. ist es jetzt superschwer noch mehr Performance aus dem Heckmotor Layout zu holen wenn man schon bei 97% ist, während die Konkurrenz lange Zeit bei 90% war und jetzt die nächsten 7% findet. Wenn alle bei 97% sind dann müsste das bessere Konzept schneller sein. Der 2017er 911 RSR könnte ein Vorbote dieser Entwicklung sein (vom Rennsport auf die Strasse).
    Ich hoffe ich liege hier falsch!

    Fact: The 2010 ACR is the only car in the group that was straight from the showroom, literally, it was not provided by Dodge. Tomball Dodge took a showroom car and ran 7:12 with a manual and not fancy driving aides. Did Porsche provide this car or did they go to an actual dealership?

    How is this car so much faster than the gen 1? What's the biggest improvement? I know efficiency, less engine drag more power, less aero drag with more downforce. Then there is the brake system that no longer creates any drag when not applied. And the tires, new cup 2s what are the changes there?

    • @timmytimmylin
      @timmytimmylin 7 років тому

      Apparently the car that lapped the ring has similar final drive as the cup car, which provides better acceleration but lowered the top speed to about 285 km/h. Also the air temp is 8 degree celsius and tarmac temp is 14 degree celsius.

    • @fe1138lix
      @fe1138lix 7 років тому +10

      No the car, you can see in the video is the same car that did the 7:12.7. Everything completely stock except for the racing seat, which by the way is 15kg heavier than the standard seat. Dynoed 501 HP and 453 Nm so bang on what Porsche claims.

    • @traind
      @traind 7 років тому +14

      Hanna S The difference is between having one day with the car and doing 2 or 3 laps at the ring (Sportauto) and actually developing the car, doing hundreds of laps on track and dozens or more at the ring (Porsche). Sportauto times are always slower due to these factors. Even though they know the ring very well, braking points and speed through each apex is different for every car and a few laps does not allow you to maximize this on a track as complex as this.

    • @hannas2808
      @hannas2808 7 років тому +4

      traind I agree I know why they are generally slower. But it still is mighty impressive to see the factory driver go that much faster given how good the drivers at sport auto are

      You can´t blame the car, watch Porsches own lap, and you will see why. Gebhardt continously enters too fast, having to wait for the car to stop sliding before he can accelerate out of the turns. He rapes the tires of any car. Bollsy driving but a pro doesn´t handle cars that way.

    Oh, da müsste aber mehr drin sein als 7:18. Anfahrt Quiddelbacher Höhe nicht gut erwischt, Quersteher nach dem Flugplatz, Mutkurve auch "nur" mit 158, da müsste schon 20 mehr drin sein. Gut, das Auto kam etwas quer, passiert, aber ich nehme mal an, dass bei einer optimalen Runde deutlich Richtung 7:10 gehen könnte.
    Aber man hat natürlich nicht die Einfahrzeit um da das optimale rausquetschen zu könnne. Und natürlich wird wohl auch nicht das letzte Risiko gegangen, weil wer will sich schon blamieren und abfliegen mit 200 in einem Auto ohne Zelle macht wohl auch keinen Spaß.

    • @spgsmilespergallon3216
      @spgsmilespergallon3216 7 років тому +6

      Fully agree, BUT: They want to sell the car to the average guy and the average guy is already fully engaged with driving and not crashing, using three pedals and a stick would end up in a total mess in the end on the track and people would say (not the proper driver) the car is difficult to drive and so on.. I think it's good that Porsche offers now both, PDK and manual transmission, already have seen some numbers that even all cried for a manual, about 85% are sold PDK again.

    • @driveitorsellit

      Actually it´s not that far from the truth. This car has no radio (-10kg compared to sound+ package), no Navi (although it comes std), no A/C (-19kg), only one seat, and that seat is a racing seat not available for ordering (-aprx 20kg compared to 2 x carbon racing seats), so it´s been lifted off aprx 50kg. Of course the car has been also set up for the ring, which could be abt 10 sec, but that can of course be done to any car, if you find the expertise. What differs it most from the old one is still just as simple as this: The cup 2 tires has come in a new edition, first used on the corvette, then the amg gt r, and now the gt3: a much softer and grippier compound that saves 6-8 sec on the ring. Bottom line, there is nothing abt this car that makes it faster then the 991.1 rs, and it really doesn´t look anything close to that good.

    • @RuCaGu
      @RuCaGu 7 років тому +4

      At least in Germany you can de-select the PCM/SatNav/Audio for the car. So this is an option available to the public, too. You are right about the missing seat.

    • @captainunknown
      @captainunknown 7 років тому +1

      DriveitorSellit (source sport auto) They drove the same car that Porsche drove. Same day. Also the GT3 do not have that same sticky tire that AMG GT-R and Z06 had. This seat is installed only in the north-loop measurement; all other Supertest disciplines are contested by the GT3 with the optional full-shell sports seat. At 17.5 kilos, the option available from the factory is, incidentally, nine kilos lighter than the Cup racing seat (see picture on page 10). The GT3 does not have a weight advantage because of the racing cup on the ring(Google translate)
