@@ShaozenNOaniki well, put 1.8 16v(or 2.0) in it and it will be real pocket rocket. at least mine was. those things are feather light and with close to 120bhp/tonne (mine was , but had 130 horsies) they would pose threat to some mid level entry cars on track.

Both my mercedes 320cdi and bmw 328i happily let go with a clumsy right foot.
@@mikeh2006 an MX-5 gets lift off oversteer because it’s so light and because of the small wheelbase if you brake the weight gets very easily to the front and that will also make it start sliding. It’s definetly not because of power because MX-5s have maybe 120hp stock. With a wing they will be very stable.
"It's better to drive a low car fast than a fast car slow." The great thing about slower cars is that you can red line every gear and drive like a complete nut case and if (when) you crash, you're not doing 150mph.

@@sebastianh-man1879 well you also need to pay for the barrier and the gravel trap but it’s very hard to crash a Twingo, someone else needs to crash into you for that to happen.

@@Boelvark doesn’t matter, you always want to drive a car at it’s limits. Thats the most fun. Around a track like the Nordschleife it’s really hard to get the maximum out of a fast car but easy to get the maximum out of a slow car, because the track is naturally so fast.
i can confirm that about motorcycles as well,slow ones are more fun to race with

Honestly, i'd fear for my life in the Citroen AX. Weighs 690kg or so, crumples like a tin can at the slightest hint of an accident.

@@RustyHeartsTOV yeah, but mass matters. And a E Class or a S90 isn't exactly unsafe, especially if we compare them to small cars. Long, big cars, are heavier. Thus they are more likely to keep their passengers safe in a crash.
The difference may be small, but I'm not taking any chances when it comes to the safety of my children.
As for the 960, that was when it was still new. Of course it is not as safe as modern cars.
The thrill of pushing a car to its absolute unit is exhilarating, no matter how slow the car actually is. This is great!
I like this better than the videos of performance cars crashing. Here we have pretty good drivers of fairly ordinary cars enjoying a go on racetrack that's open to the public.
Its like instead of Fast they become Fun! The smaller the Better! I noticed that as i own the MK GTI Clubsport on 360hp/460 torque at the moment. Well, went vacation now and parents sent up my old Nissan Micra K12 there which is almost more fun in 0-60 as u have the direct Go-Cart feeling! 😄

Tracked some cars as they drove by my house/dorm, they went some uphill and I decided to follow. The cars that drove by were: a Dodge Challenger, a Nissan GT-R,a Porsche GT3,a Nissan 370z,a Ferrari 459
Once I made it there I found the very cars along with: a Lamborghini murcielago,a Lotus exige,a Nissan GT-R,another Porsche, a mustang and a Mercedes AMG not sure what it was like an SL or something.
Seen a Lamborghini Huracan, Nissan GT-R, a Maserati as well, dining at a restaurant. Also a Mazda RX7, a clean clean FD. So yeah, that's my life there. Been in a drift even as well, the cars were what you'd expect, AE86ses,silvias,180SXes,skylines (R33,R324) and some BMWs as well and a 2JZ swapped Subaru Impreza along with a supercharged LS Nissan Silvia S14. It was a professional event

@@eggsycro Maybe due to most fast roadcars being quite well insulated and comfy while slow cars are usually loud tin cans, but with more steering and road feel, giving you that illusion of speed.

@@eggsycro I've gone flat out in a new NSX and let me tell you when you're going 170km/h it feels like stable highway speeds because the car is so planted and capable, but if you do thar speed in an F-150 it feels like you're pushing your luck.

In all seriousness, doing 150-160 in a corner with a Citroen AX has to be more of a thrill than doing the same in a car where 160 is still only second gear, and seems 60 😃 my god, that car has 155 wide tires at best 😃😃
I think those AX's were originally fitted with 135 and/or 145 wide tyres depending on the spec. (Same for early / low spec Peugeot 205's)
Driving like that and not crashing out. Makes me wonder what that driver could do in something more capable.

It has rather interesting suspension, which I guess is why it doesnt tumble over. Also especially stripped down like his it has something like 600kg.
What would be definitely interesting to play with on the Ring would be BX GTi 16V with its hydropneumatic suspension.

Not really.. a van's roof really doesnt weigh that much, and the suspension parts and floor are heavier to be able to handle loads. So arguably the CoG of an empty van is actually lower.

Anyways, you're comparing a brand new van to a ~25 year old Twingo. Ofc it's gonna have better suspension and *much* wider tires that easily offset weight difference and CoM.

This is a matter of driving-level: I would be able to exploit the full potential of the first Carrera 4, but totally unable to do so with an actual GT3 RS. I might be slower with the former on some sections!
From my point-of-view, it's way more exciting to push a slow car or bike to its limits (and beyond!) than to be way faster on high-performing car/bike that we don't totally master.

@@chrisogrady28 nah bro, I can testify. I’m faster on certain sections of my local track in my MR-S than I am with my friend’s Exige S. I should be faster, but the two cars have different limits and characteristics, clearly the Exige is better than my MR-S in track performance, but I’m not skilful enough to extract it yet. With a bit more seat time I could probably be faster, but who knows.

Went round there in a Peugeot partner van two years ago. We overtook a focus because we’d basically run out of braking power. Best lap in ages …

Remember the days when I was working in France and took the small company cars to the ring on the weekends. Never been driving on a racetrack but enjoyed it a lot. I really loved the ring. Did 09:41BTG with 90hp Focus Tdci.. Thoose were the days.. Wont go there now since i have a family..
