When I was at minute 18:00, with the Kraken, I suddenly felt like I wanted to play pokemon, the first or second gen, and catch a tyranitar; then suddenly the pokemon theme sounds with a footage from the first gen. LOL! I love your videos, so much passion for videogames.
That first fight with Ghirahim will forever be the Number 1 in "Unexpectedly difficult first bosses" for me, and is pretty much what solified the vibe that I was getting that Skyward Sword wasn't gonna be like other Zelda games. Oh, how glad I was to be proven right.
19:28 - You mean the Special stat. 19:58 - He... what... 24:05 - He also has a hacked Sturdy Rhyhorn in the initial HGSS battle. Also, I think critical hits like you.
There a few from games I have played that could fit this idea: The first is Narmer from Etrian Odyssey 3 not only has an attack that can possibly one shot your entire party if you get it wrong, but when he loses half of his health he will run away, and you have to chase him, but every step he heals himself and there are still enemies in the way. The next is Aztec Falcon from Megaman Zero, who isn't technically the first boss but I don't think the Golem really counts. The boss is hard not only due to not having the elements yet, but also because you are on a time limit and while his pattern isnt' impossible, trying to learn it while not dying still getting hits in is difficult. And if you don't have the Charge slash (which unless you grind, you won't) you will be doing only a little bit of damage to him. Third is the Wendigo from Devil Survivor. Since this is a Strategic RPG and is an SMT game it is no surprise this game is hard. However even when compared to the rest of SMT the Wendigo is a pretty nasty first boss, who is not only brutally strong for this point in the game also has a horde of other demons who can easily cause you trouble. This fight doesn't really have annoying gimmicks or tactics... its is just straight up brutal. Finally Skelter Helter from No More Heroes 2. On the normal difficulty this guy isn't bad at all, a bit tougher than most first bosses but that's fine, No More Heroes isn't an easy series to begin with. But on the harder difficulties... prepare to hate him and his gun. The bullets don't do massive damage, but they will stun you and he will use that to then rush you and carve up your health with his lightsaber buster sword.
I generally get a Butterfree going regardless of what pokemon I start the game with, just so I will have access to sleep powder which in turn makes catching an Abra FAR LESS RAGE INDUCING when reaching its first spawn location.
Speaking of first hard bosses, I have always one in mind but I don't know if it was talked about in this series, and that is Grilgan from Lost Odyssey. He's the very first true boss you fight and for a first boss that's insanely difficult: you're only about level 15 or close to it, have 3 characters with more or less 500 hp and the boss has only one true weakness: fire magic. Physical ones did nearly to nothing and he had an incredible amount of hp (about 1600), so your magic was the only thing that could beat it. In theory the boss is simple, but his attacks are nasty and, in my run, he would constantly hit the back row and kill my mage, essentially giving me a game over.
Actually if you play around too much around Ghirahim in his 1st phase he'll swipe at you. Also I find it easier (and funnier) to run away from him when he starts his running slash and all you have to do to get out of his fingers is flick upward (which makes surprising sense). He's pretty notable due to him having so many mechanics to his fight for the first battle, you never expect it. (for ex. skyward strikes to stun him give you more hits.) This was a video of good memories like when I never beat underground zone before losing my gamegear yet still that theme haunted me. I think Roark and Cheren were also surprisingly tough pokemon first bosses.
Hmmmm... just a note from the Kraken from Shining Force 2: if you kill enough of his legs and arms, the head closes in the raft, making it significantly easier to surround and kill. Also, those damn arms have spear range and better stats, making them tougher than legs.
I think that the difficulty of Leaders like Falkner were like a catalyst for me overlevelling my teams. I always had a Croconaw with Ice Fang to eviscerate him.
By the way whoisthisgit, when a pokemon uses roost, it loses it's flying type, meaning that rock type attacks or any other weakness that it used to have will not work anymore. However, it will also mean that it's resistances will be gone too.
Congrats on 1000 videos, whoisthisgit. Recently I've been replaying an old game from my childhood, Bakugan Battle Brawlers for the DS. It was NOT hard at all, then I encountered the challenge that made me want to just throw the cartridge out the window. Your goal is simply to defeat the main antagonist, Marduk, in a battle without losing one simple touchscreen minigame. If you haven't mastered EVERY touchscreen minigame, you WILL fail. So, why am I telling you all this? Because I have a challenge for you... a very stupid challenge. Progress through the game until you beat the final tournament. Then go to the Park and look for Marduk's icon with a little yellow exclamation point in the top right corner. Beat the mission and wait for the exclamation point to appear again. You must beat the mission he gives you with only three level one Serpenoid Bakugan, the weakest in the entire game. Beat this challenge if you want, but it is NOT going to be easy. (Well, I don't know that for sure, I might just suck at the game, lol)
As such I compiled an easy way to beat the Skyview Temple main boss if you are going for a shieldless run which is what I did because the shields in this game outside the hidden unlockable one are faulty and end up breaking. For the first form you want to treat him like he was one of those Eye Guardians you encountered throughout the temple. When you lightly swing your sword around he watches it and eventually drops his guard giving you an opening to attack opposite of where his hand is. If your sword gets caught pull it away to prevent it from being taken. If he does grab it simply run around and dodge it as he throws it at you and pick it up to reclaim it. For the second form he gets more offensive. When he goes "Aaaauugh!" immediately stop targeting him and hold down the A button and run. Do not try and side jump out of the way of the charge while targeting as you will usually get hit. For his little dark magic infused knives he throws simply swing in the direction they are arranged in to hit them back at him. This does not do as much damage as your sword but every little bit helps. Lastly for his close range attack you have a split second to attack opposite of where his sword is. If you do not think you can make the strike don't risk it. Back flip out of the way to avoid getting hit. You have to be real quick to do this however if you do succeed in countering this you will have an opportunity to do some serious damage by swinging your sword back and forth as his guard drops completely. Lastly don't be afraid to bring a few Heart Potions into the fight. Skyward Sword's bosses can be tricky at times so it's always good to come prepared for the battles in advance. Regardless this first boss can take a good while. He can absorb a lot of hits before going down but once you do defeat him give yourself a pat on the back. You beat one of the hardest bosses in the game.
You said that HG/SS's Falkner was hard, and you used Chikorita. That reminds me of when I first fought Falkner. My Chikorita fainted, and it was the last Pokémon in my party. But before it fainted, it was able to poison the Pidgeotto. On the SAME EXACT TURN that the Chikorita fainted, the Pidgeotto fainted from poison. The game counted it as a victory.
That reminded me of Siren from final fantasy V. The game has eight million bosses so I'm not sure if it's the first one, but your fight her about 15-30 minutes into the game and she is an absolute nightmare. Probably the strongest boss in the game, in fact
I used to laugh at people who thought the first boss of 8-Bit Sonic 2 was hard, because I was well used to the Master System version and almost everybody I talked to at the time only ever apparently played it on Game Gear. Which I didn't get either, because hey, the Game Gear has a converter that can be used to play Master System games, so how much worse could it be, really? So yeah, until I played that particular version myself, I never got what all the fuss was about. But man, when I did... that thing was pretty evil.
Hmm The. FE Hack Bloodlines was apparently heavily based on Shining Force. Till I heard that fight music, didnt know how much. His enemy phase fight theme is literally that.
whoisthisgit My personal recommendation for your review: Murai from Ninja Gaiden Black. This guy is by far and away the best example I know of a Noobstomper first boss. First off, let's start off by noting that when you get to him you can have only one of two weapons: The Dragon Sword or the Lunar Staff. Neither of those weapons will be allowed to have upgrades and you're missing some of your best combo moves which you unlock later in the game. Furthermore, you only have basic Shurikens as projectiles, which are usually on the bad side anyway, but the dude is straight up immune to them and will block them 100% of the time. Also, your health by this point is really low and you'll have access to maybe two or three healing items. You can see where this is going. The Ninja Gaiden games (at least the amazing first and the passable second) are known for tight combat and insane difficulty. In a game where you fight legions of demons, full on tanks and choppers, fire and lightning breathing worms, and a certified God, this buff dude with nunchucks is one of the deadliest around! He will block almost all attacks that are just kinda thrown out. If you blindly jump at him a single swat will leave you reeling on the floor. His dash attack hurts like hell and is one of the only moments when his guard is down. He will lightly jump back and avoid air-to-ground attacks like they were nothing. If you don't know what you're doing he will destroy you over and over again. And God save you if you attempt this on Ninja Master difficulty, where he's substantially more aggressive AND his window of vulnerability is much smaller. If you can get your hands on a copy of Gaiden Black, give it a shot. It's an amazing action game and he's one of the best boss fights I've seen in terms of organically teaching the player how to not be an idiot.
I would have been very disappointed if the Sonic 2 GG boss didn't show up on this list. I only ever got past that git two times, but was so drained of lives/continues that I didn't have the chance to figure out those bloody hang gliders in the next stage.I don't think I will ever know how to use them.
Phantom and Cerberus from Devil May Cry 1 and Devil May Cry 3 are notorious first hard bosses. Both basically are there to have you unlock easy mode, and the problem with Cerberus was that they mislabeled difficulties in the original Devil May Cry 3 so that normal was the Japanese hard.
Jane Huskmann (Sorry if I make any mistakes, English isn't my first language D:) Well, in 1.3 I find it easier to kill thanks to the yoyo (and if you are lucky enough the traveling merchant sells Code 1, which deals 21 dmg per hit) but it's a boss you can summon anytime you want, so you can easily get a lot of life crystals and a proper bow to face it (I know it can spawn automatically, but only if you have 10+ armor and 200 life, so it shouldn't be that hard to kill)
I knew I was gonna see Castroth and that freaking antlion appear on here, but honestly, where the heck are bosses like Army Dillo(who was pretty tricky for the first boss), the dragon from Gauntlet Legends, the clockwork fish boss from the GBC Looney Tunes game(Technically not the first boss you face, but it's in the first level and all the other bosses there are really just mini-bosses), Eggman's giant sledgehammer thingy in Sonic Advance 3, the weird crane-like machine in Sonic Rush(which was actually pretty darn hard), the fight with the first of the suped-up mutant in the DS variant for Crash: Mind over Mutant(and to an extent, the dingodile fight in the GBA variant of either Crash of the Titans or Mind over mutant, don't know which as of yet sorry!), the snow dragon from Drawn to Life, or even one the the psychopath battles from the Dead Rising series?
Honestly even without Vine Whip Bulbasaur still has Leech Seed, combine that with something like Growl or Sand-Attack and Brock will be hard-pressed to take your team down with his bad offense.
Best way to combat Brock's Geodude? Catch 5 Pidgeys. Spam sand-attack until he can't hit for shit. Repeat for Onix. (It was worse for the Japanese version which I played, where he had two Geodudes -__-)
I remember Sonic 2 GameGear and having trouble to defeat the first boss back in the 90's. But I found the handgliding levels the most annoying. Finding the Chaos Emeralds that are hidden the throughout the levels without a guide (especially without video guide) is the hardest bit of Sonic 2 GameGear. You also had no savestates that we take for granted nowadays back then on the GameGear. So if your console lost power you would have to start from the beginning of the game. Without all the Chaos Emearlds you get the bad ending when you defeat Metal Sonic.
Now that you show Shning Force 2, if you ever make a video about "Hard first battles in videogames" or something like that, I remember the first battle being harder than the next few battles that take place after this one. You are outnumbered, the evil gizmos can kill you pretty fast and have rather high evasion, and is very easy to fuck up as a new player.
have you ever tried the following: 1. Sin and punishment and Sap star successor 2. Jak 2 3. the Touhou project series those games can be really hard, especially with the bosses
Honestly, I have better luck getting a Nidoran to Double Kick before getting a Butterfree to 12, leveling past Metapod is such a pain in the ass. Also.. *seriously*, Sonic 2 on the Game Gear must have been some kind of sick joke, what a difficult and annoying first Robotnik fight - I spent hours on it, and only a few times ever got to see past that level. Getting a Game Over typically meant shelving the game gear for some weeks because I didn't want to go through it again. Great video as always.
EPILEPSY WARNING FOR SHINING FORCE! Jeez git how could you not have noticed those bright blue flashing spell effects? Also, how did your charmander not have metal claw at level 12?
The Gray Pet Steel type was added in the second generations. Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow were the first generation of pokemon, meaning that charmander couldn't learn metal claw, since steel type didn't exist at the moment.
So we have here Early Bird Bosses. Moldorm - with that effectively smaller arena, thank heavens for Roc's Feather. And I can tell who the second EBB is as soon as you mention about another one. "Lord" Ghirahim - I did a no damage run of him before: ua-cam.com/video/JoNWnkfGY0U/v-deo.html I actually keep the guy at mid-range so that I can hit Ghirahim when he starts up the dash attack, but even if my Squishy Wizard ass gets to me, I can still slash him just as he gets close to me. It's a nice and handy way of dealing damage to him. Spoiled Rotten - I know a friend who would be VERY impressed with this. Marionette - 1HKing THREE people. Fuck that noise. Kraken - the game is merciless when you have overleveled people. Guh. Brock - maybe I should see how he and Misty can be handled with starter Charmander without overleveling one of these days. I have a gut feeling Growl will be useful to nuke Brock's attack into the ground. HGSS Falkner - wow, healing half your HP in one turn with a 'Mon's move when a supereffective attack doesn't do that much damage. What. Antlion - yeah, Fuck. This. Guy. And apparently I was bad at games. Turns out games and their cultists want to be sadists. Thankfully there are people like you, WITG, who would be empathetic.
Do you think an invincible Machine Chasing you down with all manner of saws and axes that you only beat by sending it off a cliff would qualify for this episode?
i still remember when my uncle had a portable sega, it really was a fun game but the console size respect to the little screen and buttons really make me laught, i mean it was litteraly a block looking console but still was a part of my infance :D
The first boss of EVO search for Eden, While the normal enemies are though but manageable when you upgrade your body parts, the first boss King Kuraselache seems to exists for only one reason: to teach you that bosses in this game are T-H-O-U-G-H! He can mow down your health in a blink of eye and attacking him head on is a death wish, worsened by the fact that that's how practically every non boss enemy is fought.
Suggestion: Boss Analysis 16: Extremely Frustrating FF Bosses (Story Boss Counts) It's a very obvious choice, but I wanna see you rage when you talk about the bosses. :)
If you dont know what your doing, Miror B from Pokemon Colosseum can be a complete pain in the dick, his team consists of 4 Ludicolos and the Shadow Sudowoodo, and his team using a Rain Strategy means he has all his bases covered, 2 Ludicolos have Rain Dish for its ability meaning they restore 1/8 of there max HP every turn in the Rain, and the other 2 have Swift Swim, which doubles there Speed in the Rain, and the only Super Effective moves you have for them by that point due to how Shadow Pokemon work are Noctowls Fly, Quilfishes Poison Sting, and Swablus Fly, Fly being a 2 turn attack with 95 accuracy, and Poison Sting having 35 power, which is absolute shit, and if you have a Shadow Pokemon use Shadow Rush, they have a chance to waste a turn going into Hyper Mode, in which if ordered to use any move not named Shadow Rush, they can do several things such as: Using another move, usually Shadow Rush, attack your other Pokemon, attack you or the other Trainer (both of which waste a turn), not do anything, hurt themselves like they were Confused, or very rarely, actually do what you wanted them to do, and you cant use items on them, and it takes a turn to get them out of Hyper Mode, and Miror Bs Ludicolos arnt Shadow Pokemon so they dont have that disadvantage, and the Shadow Sudowoodo dosnt have those issuses at all when it gets on the field! But the real dick kick is trying to Snag Sudowoodo, as thats how you get Pokemon in Colosseum, stealing them in the middle of a battle like there a Wild Pokemon, and Shadow Rush deals recoil damage! You also cant over level your Pokemon, since the only non Shadow Pokemon you have by then are Umbreon and Espeon, and Shadow Pokemon dont gain EXP until there purified, which you cant do yet. Thankfully, by the time you fight Dakim, you can level up your Pokemon, but by then the first immpressions are kind of wrecked, and your not likely to keep playing. If you do know what your doing however, hes a piece of cake, just like every other boss
Any chance you will ever talk about the Wonder Boy franchise ? There are some good contenders in those games for some of your categories, like pathetic bosses etc. Love the series though. I think you have 2 silly videos about them at least :D
Sonic 2's sms/gg first boss is truly a pain. I actually think it's hardest boss out of all of them, including the last boss (wich is kinda easy, if you don't have to rush).
4:14 well he was a pain 4 me cuz I didn't knew how to even hit him xD (TIP IN CASE UR HAVING TROUBLE LIKE ME :D) now to hit him u must; get close to him, pint ur sword right or left (where ever u want 2 cuz it doesn't matter :)) once hes trying to grab the sword u must attack the opposite direction ur pointing and SLASH HIS ARM >:D and there u go u have learned how to hit him :P (OBJECTION!!! I might be wrong since I fought him a long time might have forgotten) PEACE!!!
So, in short, Sonic 2 on Master System got the anniversary treatment 14 years before the dreadful anniversary. I just couldn't get Sonic the Hedgehog Genesis GBA port out of my head. Except for having no slowdown.
I remember trying to beat Brock in Pokemon Yellow with a lv. 12 Pikachu, and 5 level 3-4 Pokemon. How innocent I was. Also, what really annoyed me in that game is the level gap you get at some point: Erika's Pokemon were around level 30, but then, you get to Koga, and he starts with a F-ing level 44 Venonat (and also 2 more at levels 46 and 48, and a level 50 Venomoth). What was Game Freak thinking when they made that?
+Javi Cebolla Granted, in regards to Brock, if you're coming from the Anime, the anime straight up lies to you that you can beat a ground type by making it wet, which isn't even a condition to this very day. There is Water Sport, but that only weakens the power of Fire Type moves and Rainy Day only boosts the power of water attacks.
I'm surprised that Gamefreak didn't contact the anime studios and say "Seriously, knock that off". I'm not blaming 4kids for poor localization as it was actually done by the original anime studio (who also thought it was a good idea to have the safari zone operator to openly threaten Ash with a gun)
Much to say after watching this video. Link's Awakening 1st boss: Screw that boss! 1 heart per hit?!? Pokemon 1 gen: Depending on your style of gameplay, yellow or blue/red will be harder. If you focus on brute strength, then yellow is easier, or if you are going for the stat-decreasing stalling method first, then blue/red is easier because Geodude's lvl is high enough to randomly use defense curl, thus buy you some time, while in yellow, he only learns tackle, so good luck trying to take those hits while decreasing his stat. Also, Charmander's metal claw in the gen 1 remake didn't help me much as Onyx is too defensive to be taken out by 1 hit and Charmander can't take a single Rock Tomb. Pokemon gen 2: I still remember Falkaner flooring my rock pokemon with Mud-slap, and given how inaccurate rock-throw was, I had to ditched rock pokemon in later playthroughs. And the last one, I hate that boss so much. Probably my first horrific experience with screen crunch.
Brock can potentially be hard for Charmander players even in the remakes. Yes, Charmander learns Metal Claw now, but unlike the original games, Brock's Pokemon now know a Rock attack. Not just a Rock attack either, but one which drops your Speed every time it hits. Cheesing through with Charmander's Ember or Butterfree's Confusion is now much less viable since they could potentially die in one hit, and even if they don't, they're now slower and will probably get hammered again immediately. Thankfully, Mankey is available in both Fire Red and Leaf Green on the route west of Viridian, and he still learns Low Kick, which now does weight-based damage. You at least have an out now. However, I don't think Charmander has it too much easier in the remakes than he does in the originals. (Though with Steel-type Magnemites, at least Fire isn't a worthless type in the remakes. It has SOME purpose.)
Fire Emblem usually has pretty balanced first bosses... except Thracia 776. The boss is an armor knight. Now, that aint anything special, but he's standing on a gate and gates provide +10 defence in that game, so the boss usually has around 20 defence. 20 defence is crazy enough in the Fire Emblem series (especially in Thracia 776, where stats usually cap at 20), but on the first boss it's absolutely ridiculous. The only way you can damage him without wasting exp on prepromotes is through critical hits and the light brand.
I ain't played that yet, i'm doing the games chronologically, starting with Monshō no Nazo book one, then Gaiden, then book two, and so on. But shouldn't a Rapier user fuck them up with a high crit rate, high evade and (maybe) an affinity towards Armored and Generals?
Juliusi Defares The more I hear about Fire Emblem 5, the less I want to play it. As for a difficult first boss from a Fire Emblem game I have played, I would have included the first boss from Awakening, if I could have recorded 3DS games. (I'm not talking about Vaildar, that chapter doesn't count) The first time I played the game, I actually got Game Over when the boss got a critical and killed Chrom. That boss' critical rate, although small, always makes me worry.
Juliusi Defares thing is with that is that as you said, prepromotes are an option. If it's ridiculously difficult to beat it with anyone else, but the fact remains that Eyvel is an option, so I'm not sure if it could be considered a super hard boss. However, I've never played Thracia, and in fact only found a playthrough on youtube to watch just yesterday. so there's that
whoisthisgit 'scuse me, but who exactly do you mean, or which chapter? People's definition of a boss in FE:A vary wildly for some reason. Just out of curiosity. (Also, what was your favourite chapter or paralogue?)
So games like Megaman that let you choose the stage are banned. What about the ones with intro stages? though, I'm pretty sure the intro stage bosses are always easy, so..
Oh, while I am pondering it GitWhoIsNotKnown, how the devil did you hack LoZ:LttP? I downloaded the hack but I have no idea how you are supposed to hack ROMs.
Does anyone know place where HeartGold and/or SoulSiIver can be played by computer? I know place with 3rd gen games, but Id love to play those two 4th gen games
You know, i don't like to be THAT guy but, Brock is not really hard if you train your Charmender he will learn fairly soon the move Steel Claw (not sure of that is really the english name though). By doing so, your Charmender will have a super effective move againt rock types PLUS some better stats ! And if that's not enough, you can always capture 5 Pidgeys ans Sand Attack their ass off ! That way they won't be able to stand a single hit ! Anyway, awesome video as always ! :D
What about Golden Sun - Saturos in Mercury Lighthouse is pretty tough. Also - General Kohle in the Game Gear game Defenders of Oasis. The first fight is scripted but the second fight is real and his magic sword can kill a character in 1 blow if he swings it.
Didn't he explain this in the mega man part? When there is a level to go to first when the other ones is a pain, you can do the other ones first? This applies here.
Enderdash585 Advance Wars 2's version of Sturm. The defence penalty he had in the first game is reversed, but he keeps the attack boost. As a result, he has both a 30% attack boost and 30% defence boost, with no penalties. That's not even counting the fact he has no movement penalties either, so every tile has a movement cost of 1 with him, making him faster than other COs. Then of course, his Meteor Strike, the most powerful CO Power in the series. With 10 stars, he can automatically target a 3x3 diamond of enemy units, chosen based on the concentration which would take the most money to repair, and he does 8 damage to all the units he hits, regardless of the defence of that unit, and ignoring any boosts the terrain or CO would give.
Brock is made a bit easier in FRLG if you choose Charmander, as Charmander will learn Metal Claw at around... I can't remember.. level 14-15 or so? Also.. "It dosen't give a good first impression of Pokémon's mascot character" Pikachu is and always was pretty bad to start with.
But you forgot to get one very special pokemon whois for Falkner, Mareep. It literately learns thundershock at the latest 10, depending on the generation. It is also available in both Gold and Silver along with their remakes Heartgold and Soulsilver. Just head to route 32. The Crystal version though well you are out of luck there.
Nintendofan54322 The Challenge Guy Oh, in the original games, you can't, that's what confused me. That said, Mareep is a lot slower than Pidgeotto, so it won't be able to stop Roost.
whoisthisgit It still deals a lot of damage,so it makes it easier. In my opinion, falkner is the easiest on this list. And yeah, you're right, there is no grass patch here: cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/1/12/Johto_Route_32_GSC.png
whoisthisgit I got nothing then though I have never had a problem with Falkner since he has THE lowest level pokemon out of all of the gym leaders ever. So I went to sprout tower got my pokemon to like 12 or so and bam he is cake.
i don't undestand why they said that skyward sword is the most easy, even when you start the game and give you the doble amount of health than other zelda games. you die so quickly because of not get used of the motions controls. Also hero mode is really hard i don't beat the final boss until 8 months later.
you could make a video about annoyingg minigames the ones in superstar saga... yeah i dont want to play the game again beacuse of them, thats how bad they are
Reddblueyoshi in bowser's inside story they are not bad, but that one where you have to slide on a plataform or something (i dont really recall it) is FUCKING TORTURE THE CONTROLS ARE WORSE THAN DARK CASTLE
Nintendofan54322 The Challenge Guy Sullivan is a far more complicated boss than Antlion is, but even though Antlion is a simple idea, he's a nightmare as the game's first boss, and I was unable to get anywhere with the game. That makes me hate it more than even Sullivan.
Girahim is tough, but you know what? I love that fight with him. It lets you know not to underestimate this guy even after his flamboyant mannerisms.
Lol Eggman is like
"Hey man don't die on me here. I hate this freakin Antlion so watch me kill it"
19:28 - You mean the Special stat.
19:58 - He... what...
24:05 - He also has a hacked Sturdy Rhyhorn in the initial HGSS battle.
Also, I think critical hits like you.
The moment I saw Falkner, I was like, "Roost... No one uses it but him, and he happens to be the best at it, too..."
There a few from games I have played that could fit this idea:
The first is Narmer from Etrian Odyssey 3 not only has an attack that can possibly one shot your entire party if you get it wrong, but when he loses half of his health he will run away, and you have to chase him, but every step he heals himself and there are still enemies in the way.
(for ex. skyward strikes to stun him give you more hits.)
This was a video of good memories like when I never beat underground zone before losing my gamegear yet still that theme haunted me.

Wow, looks like everyone really does hate Hans.
Barrett, Deus Ex Human Revolution...
That man makes me regret every time I want to play through the game again.
Ha. And people thought I was lame for liking butterfree.
That reminded me of Siren from final fantasy V. The game has eight million bosses so I'm not sure if it's the first one, but your fight her about 15-30 minutes into the game and she is an absolute nightmare. Probably the strongest boss in the game, in fact
You know I was half expecting the first boss of Master System's Shadow Dancer to show up, but... Honestly all the (four) bosses are unfairly difficult
+HHog Yeah, the screen is way too zoomed in compared to the MS version, and this is coming from someone that only had the GG version as a kid
I remember as a young kid. I used to play Sonic Advance 3 and always struggling on the first Eggman boss, he was "so hard" for me at that time xD
3 words: Eye of Cthulhu (Terraria, especially Expert Mode)
Also, I thought that I was doomed vs. Brock in Pokemon Yellow...
Terraria 1.3.0.x- a demonstration on how a boss can be turned from easy to hellish (Moon Lord)
*****
Um, please don't mention that final boss, yet...
Jane Huskmann (Sorry if I make any mistakes, English isn't my first language D:)
Well, in 1.3 I find it easier to kill thanks to the yoyo (and if you are lucky enough the traveling merchant sells Code 1, which deals 21 dmg per hit) but it's a boss you can summon anytime you want, so you can easily get a lot of life crystals and a proper bow to face it (I know it can spawn automatically, but only if you have 10+ armor and 200 life, so it shouldn't be that hard to kill)
Montse L
Now, imagine if you fight it too quickly...
Montse L
Amazon can also help.
Mind you, I never found Pre-HM to be hard, only Mechs and up were hard
In pokemon i didn't catch a weak nidoran. I caught a Lvl.100 nidoking. Glitches 4 days
scout wizardman Yes, pokemon red had many glitches! Many glitches that i exploit. XD
OP much?
As a Zelda fan and therefore a fan of Skyward Sword I am not afraid to admit it. Ghirahim kicked my ass the first time I fought him.
15:37 Shining Force 2 "Presented by Sonic" Lol.
When I picked Charmander I grinded until he evolved so many hours of my life were wasted that day... so many hours.
Best way to combat Brock's Geodude?
Catch 5 Pidgeys.
Spam sand-attack until he can't hit for shit.
Repeat for Onix.
(It was worse for the Japanese version which I played, where he had two Geodudes -__-)
Once there was a glitch in the game (Master System version) and the Robotnick not saved me from lava.
Whoisthisgit, we have a great loss. Satoru Iwata, CEO of Nintendo of Japan, has passed. He passed yesterday.
Lub lub is secretly a chikorita..watch out,he could shoot ya a solar beam when he evolves into a meganium
have you ever tried the following:
1. Sin and punishment and Sap star successor
2. Jak 2
3. the Touhou project series
those games can be really hard, especially with the bosses
Honestly, I have better luck getting a Nidoran to Double Kick before getting a Butterfree to 12, leveling past Metapod is such a pain in the ass.
Also.. *seriously*, Sonic 2 on the Game Gear must have been some kind of sick joke, what a difficult and annoying first Robotnik fight - I spent hours on it, and only a few times ever got to see past that level. Getting a Game Over typically meant shelving the game gear for some weeks because I didn't want to go through it again.
Great video as always.
Sato in red and blue nidoran doesn't learn double kick at all
billy schmied
untrue, just watch *any* speedrun for it
Sato you are right they learn double kick AT LEVEL 43 they learn it ONLY in yellow at level 12 in red and blue its level 43 and in yellow level 12
billy schmied
still preferable to leveling up a metapod
Sato in yellow yea but in red and blue its the only way without cheats, or you picked easy and easier mode
The Gray Pet Even WITH Metal Claw, that onyx can still take it like a boss and beat charmander with rock tomb. I experienced it first hand.
So we have here Early Bird Bosses.
Moldorm - with that effectively smaller arena, thank heavens for Roc's Feather. And I can tell who the second EBB is as soon as you mention about another one.
"Lord" Ghirahim - I did a no damage run of him before:
ua-cam.com/video/JoNWnkfGY0U/v-deo.html
I actually keep the guy at mid-range so that I can hit Ghirahim when he starts up the dash attack, but even if my Squishy Wizard ass gets to me, I can still slash him just as he gets close to me.
You ever going to do Green Hills Zone act 3 from Sonic 2 Game Gear for a future Worst Levels Ever episode? (maybe as part of a montage)
i still remember when my uncle had a portable sega, it really was a fun game but the console size respect to the little screen and buttons really make me laught, i mean it was litteraly a block looking console but still was a part of my infance :D
Wild Arms 3 is pretty famous its bosses. Just thought I'd add that.
I actually used a Level 70 Mewtwo to beat Falkner's Pidgetto,it was from the previous saved game on SoulSilver! CAN YOU SAY OVERKILL?
The first boss of EVO search for Eden, While the normal enemies are though but manageable when you upgrade your body parts, the first boss King Kuraselache seems to exists for only one reason: to teach you that bosses in this game are
T-H-O-U-G-H! He can mow down your health in a blink of eye and attacking him head on is a death wish, worsened by the fact that that's how practically every non boss enemy is fought.
Suggestion:
Boss Analysis 16: Extremely Frustrating FF Bosses (Story Boss Counts)
It's a very obvious choice, but I wanna see you rage when you talk about the bosses. :)
I remember having to evolve Totodile to beat Falkner! Annoying as heck!
About the last mentioned boss:
I have the cartrige/game for the game gear but I dont have one
I even got a sega MS2 eith sonic built in
4:13
Get the Star Rod!

The irony is strong with this one.
He talks about how Brock's Onix is a pain in the ass. And he has an Onix in the field!
Zero Ace When I battled him, I already had most of the previous Shadow Pokemon and he ended up taking more time than anything.
Any chance you will ever talk about the Wonder Boy franchise ?
There are some good contenders in those games for some of your categories, like pathetic bosses etc.
Love the series though.
I think you have 2 silly videos about them at least :D
DecoyBlackMage I have actually thought about making a Boss Analysis about Monster World's bosses.
whoisthisgit no vids about monster hunter? or the new pw games?
whoisthisgit I will be waiting then, with.......... Antici.....PATION !
Sonic 2's sms/gg first boss is truly a pain. I actually think it's hardest boss out of all of them, including the last boss (wich is kinda easy, if you don't have to rush).
4:14 well he was a pain 4 me cuz I didn't knew how to even hit him xD
(TIP IN CASE UR HAVING TROUBLE LIKE ME :D) now to hit him u must; get close to him, pint ur sword right or left (where ever u want 2 cuz it doesn't matter :)) once hes trying to grab the sword u must attack the opposite direction ur pointing and SLASH HIS ARM >:D and there u go u have learned how to hit him :P
(OBJECTION!!! I might be wrong since I fought him a long time might have forgotten)
PEACE!!!
TheLomdr Totally true. And still today some people try to apply anime logic to the games.
Am I the only one who loves the little fighting music in shining force
Nope
20:07 HA! Level grinding is my middle name!
You should do a video on bravely default
However, I've never played Thracia, and in fact only found a playthrough on youtube to watch just yesterday. so there's that
Juliusi Defares these guys that made the game are fuking crazy to do this
whoisthisgit 'scuse me, but who exactly do you mean, or which chapter? People's definition of a boss in FE:A vary wildly for some reason. Just out of curiosity. (Also, what was your favourite chapter or paralogue?)
Fuck. Antlion. So many batteries died just so I could get past that *thing*, and then Green Hill Zone 3 happened and I just fucking gave up.
What do you think about the first boss(maybe only one, can't remember) in the Taz-Mania game for the Sega Game Gear
BGray Wolf I never got that far.
So games like Megaman that let you choose the stage are banned. What about the ones with intro stages? though, I'm pretty sure the intro stage bosses are always easy, so..
Magitek1112 Intro stages are fine, that's what Wario Land 4 has.
Oh, while I am pondering it GitWhoIsNotKnown, how the devil did you hack LoZ:LttP? I downloaded the hack but I have no idea how you are supposed to hack ROMs.
Mr. Gold and Mr. Silver from Godhand. The game as a whole Is unrelentingly hard but still
How did you get link look like in bunny mode and can attack?
wat iz teh song u use on the end of u vids
this is the 3rd or 4rth time i ask you
Does anyone know place where HeartGold and/or SoulSiIver can be played by computer?
I know place with 3rd gen games, but Id love to play those two 4th gen games
there needs to be a new videogame boss, perhaps father Gascoigne or cerberus
You know, i don't like to be THAT guy but, Brock is not really hard if you train your Charmender he will learn fairly soon the move Steel Claw (not sure of that is really the english name though). By doing so, your Charmender will have a super effective move againt rock types PLUS some better stats ! And if that's not enough, you can always capture 5 Pidgeys ans Sand Attack their ass off ! That way they won't be able to stand a single hit !
Anyway, awesome video as always ! :D
Metijud La-Pizza Metal Claw didn't exist in Gen 1.
whoisthisgit Whoops sorry then, my bad !
Onix's sprite in Yellow though.
Lol, the ending says click on the links below, they're both Zelda videos...
I love Ghirahim! He's so fabulous!
TheGerako8bit Personally, he makes me furious! Outraged! SICK WITH ANGER!
+RobotwarsKing HA!
@Wario Land 4: To be honest, the rest of the bosses aren't much better on super hard (Aerodent says hello)
I say the metal ant from earthbound is one of the hardest first bosses
Technically, wouldn't Frank be the first boss?
What about Golden Sun - Saturos in Mercury Lighthouse is pretty tough.
Also - General Kohle in the Game Gear game Defenders of Oasis. The first fight is scripted but the second fight is real and his magic sword can kill a character in 1 blow if he swings it.
Not a first boss. The first boss is unwinnable. And even then you can choose to kill tret first before saturos. So,no.
km tabs Video states unwinnable bosses are ignored so, as Tret is optional at that point, Saturos is the first mandatory boss.
So, yes.
Both tret and saturos are mandatory. When git sees this maybe he'll answer.
Didn't he explain this in the mega man part? When there is a level to go to first when the other ones is a pain, you can do the other ones first? This applies here.
Lub Lub...is a Pokemon?
3:58 hey! i got that game on my Wii :D
Falkner is a Mother Falkner
Holy moly marionette, so many tries to kill that guy, even nowadays its a headache.
And the kraken is an asshole too. Great video!
Which advance wars game had the hardest boss in your opinion? I have not played them all btw.
Anyone can answer
Also.. "It dosen't give a good first impression of Pokémon's mascot character"
Pikachu is and always was pretty bad to start with.
KyuubiNaruto41 The route is blocked off until you beat Falkner.
whoisthisgit Git,you can acess a small patch of grass before that guy blocks you:
cdn.bulbagarden.net/upload/8/86/Johto_Route_32_HGSS.png
Nintendofan54322 The Challenge Guy
Oh, in the original games, you can't, that's what confused me.
I loved wario land4 as a kid, too bad i couldn't get to any of the main bosses.
What's the name of the surfer music in the intro?
Elliot Tipton Kahn's theme in Breath of Fire IV. It's one of my new favourites.
4:23 wups oh well At least I explained 2 :) PEACE!!!
You should do a boss analysis of romancing saGa 2,the boss is so goddamn hard...
And meaning from goddamn hard i mean THE FINAL BOSS
0 48 or vile from mmx1
Yass another video
Thanks git
wait, people think skyward sword is too easy? way, it's the hardest one in my opinion, and what about hero mode? that has to count for something,
+Chris Hall I actually think Skyward Sword is one of the harder Zelda games, I don't really understand why some people think it's the easiest.
true
+PinkPeach101 Triforce Hero is actually pretty easy that is until you get to the final boss... god I hated that boss.
+Chris Hall I hate the difficulty of every zelda game.
+Chris Hall I agree!
i don't undestand why they said that skyward sword is the most easy, even when you start the game and give you the doble amount of health than other zelda games. you die so quickly because of not get used of the motions controls. Also hero mode is really hard i don't beat the final boss until 8 months later.
you could make a video about annoyingg minigames
the ones in superstar saga...
yeah
i dont want to play the game again beacuse of them, thats how bad they are
MarioKart7z yeah
someone should make a hack to remove them
MarioKart7z One of the things I hated in FFVII! Fucking forced minigames.
eltiolavara9 The forced minigames are a reason it took me forever to beat Bowser's Inside Story.
They fucking suck.
Reddblueyoshi in bowser's inside story they are not bad, but that one where you have to slide on a plataform or something (i dont really recall it) is FUCKING TORTURE
THE CONTROLS ARE WORSE THAN DARK CASTLE
eltiolavara9 I cant get past face stuff challenge...
WOAH! Does that mean that Antlion is worse then Sullivan?
You did one entire video dedicated to Sullivan, and to Antlion,not...
Nintendofan54322 The Challenge Guy Sullivan is a far more complicated boss than Antlion is, but even though Antlion is a simple idea, he's a nightmare as the game's first boss, and I was unable to get anywhere with the game. That makes me hate it more than even Sullivan.
whoisthisgit Oh,so thats why.
Can't you use the Stomping attack by spoiled rotten?
And the Asylum Demon of Dark Souls would be perfect
Vergessener Sumpfsucher Chelvo I never had a problem with him. I took him out quickly XD
