It’s crazy to me how buyers are literally allowed to just commit fraud/theft and completely get away with it, not a single thing happens to them, Amazon is even worst which is why I’d never ever sell on there, people genuinely believe because of how rich the owner is that their entitled to just lie and steal, like using new items and then lying saying it’s faulty and sending it back, when in reality it’s the small businesses that your stealing from, and not a single thing happens about it, you could literally buy an iPad and then send a box of newspaper back and get a full refund and nothing would happen, the whole “the customers always right” is completely outdated and doesn’t apply anymore, it’s not like they are just giving you money for nothing is it? It’s a transaction so the treatment and terms should be fair for both sides, the customers always right AKA the customer can take advantage of you and you can’t do anything about it

There was a disney mini backpack seller who got scammed on ebay. They gave the buyers address to the local cops in the buyers area and they investigated for fraud. Dont know what happened, but theres recourse and punishment if the police in that jurisdiction want to work with you.

I NEVER give partial refunds unless I know it's my fault. Basically by doing this the scammer wins which annoys me more. I'd rather suck up a bigger loss and get the item returned. I know it's worse when it's GSP too but there is no way he should be getting away with it. I would accept the return and report him to eBay for abusing the return policy as he would be using the item not as described option.

not always true, with this beign gsp you can ask them to return it and refund them the postage when it arrives and they upoad the recipt to the case files, ebay understands its not alays possible to send a return lable for an international sale, happended many many times for me and almost every time the buyer just goes away never to be heard of again, @libbyvirtually_veganoninst5652

Sad part with Ebay is you actually have to pay for the S&H fees to get the item back.

FYI you should have accepted the return in the end, reported the buyer and then deducted £20 off the refund when they arrived for the cost of the postage. With all your evidence, eBay then step in and cover the cost if they deem it necessary.

  • @BURNAG3
    @BURNAG3 9 місяців тому +12

Never do that, it encourages that kind of behaviour. Have funding and risk pot available within your business to consume these sorts of issues. Accept the return and take the reduction in return postage and fees then report the buyer. If the buyer has a history in this they will be banned, the service metrics removed from your account and you can partially refund them once received.

The horrors of the GSP program right there. Buyer protection has swung too far, and even if you could leave bad feedback for a buyer (a complete joke in itself) then they can open as many eBay accounts as they like and just do it again as that’s perfectly fine with eBay. The fact that they can literally see the buyer trying to bully you into a partial refund and yet side with the buyer every time is a completely broken system.

  • @funkyuk1

A guy bought some £30 shoes, opened a return one day before a month had gone by saying they were in terrible condition and sent a photo of a different shoe (but same make and model) I made it quite clear to him I was aware of what he was about to do and said I expect the exact pair of shoes he bought from me to be the ones sent back. Surprise surprise when I finally got them back they were a manky different pair of shoes. I immediately rang eBay and spent 45 minutes on the phone to someone who said they sympathised but there was nothing they could do. The eBay guy actually refunded the buyer there and then! I’ve lost sleep over it, yes it’s not a massive amount of money but it’s plain FRAUD! I can’t even leave him bad feedback….. I’m still fuming now 😡😡😡

This is quite the bizarre case Jon, I’ve personally sold a lot of items through GSP and I was always under the assumption an item sold through GSP cannot be returned so that strikes me as odd straight away. I know this case is resolved now but if this happens again Jon I would pursue a claim through GSP claiming damage in transit - everytime I’ve had issues with GSP they always reiterate that it’s the seller job to get the item to them at eBay and everything else is under their umbrella so say - so in this case you’ve fulfilled your side so baffles me why eBay are treating this case differently. Need any help mate give me a shout.

I had a similar experience last week. Buyer claimed a jacket was fake (it wasn't) and he had had it for close to a month. Ebay told me to accept the return. I received the jacket which was clearly worn. I reported the buyer and claimed for the item being damaged. They sided with me and i got a full refund including postage. You should have accepted the return then reported the item as damaged. He pulled them apart after all. I've found Ebay to be quite helpful when it comes to scammers. I've had a few and each time they have refunded me.

I never had a good experience on eBay as a seller. I was selling a lot of mining gear to clear my debts and fund a new eBay business. Out of 12 gfx cards 3 of them came with a charge back. Which took away all the fund for the business. Any case I took some of the cash for debt and allocated it to eBay startup. Started buying some old consoles which needed repairing, these were things labelled not tested. Every single one had been taken apart, but managed to repair 1 and that had some dodgy soldering done and they ruined the circuit board. Anyway that venture I put it down to experience and eBay just being a scam.

Cut a long story short & after being bombarded by over 40 messages 🤦‍♀️ she ‘apparently’ didn’t pick the item up & open a case of not received. Reported that the store had returned it to me (they hadn’t) After a long fight they awarded on my side. I had the same with converse pumps. They were sold for £9.99 and were real! Bought by me daughter and never worn! The buyer had them for nearly a month then sent me a return saying they were fake! Amazing timing too. They were not fake and were in excellent condition.. eBay said I needed to re refund the buyer after the return. I was livid.. the buyer was rude saying they were in awful condition (they were not in awful condition, they were immaculate) and that they were only fit for the bin. I was so angry, but was never rude back and said to keep them and refunded her instead of paying for the return postage. The buyer won a free pair of shoes and I was scammed! My thoughts are, you will NEVER win with eBay or the customer if they complain! This upset me as I’m passionate about what I do sell. Me personally externally invoice the customer when this happens. I know eBay have there policy’s and think that the customer can do these things, but if it is not defective I would personally re invoice them outside of eBay direct to them. Just because u agree to a platforms terms and conditions doesn’t mean u cannot do business outside of the platform. I had a situation where an ebayer bought a Rolex of me and opened a return. I said no problem as they said it was fake which it was completely legitimate. I recieved a very bad fake sent back to me. I raised this with eBay and they completely denied any part and the return was settled. I sent the customer an invoice separate to eBay for the watch, never heard anything back for 2 months. Sent it straight to small claims court and recieved the full value back for the watch and damages on top. Act as a business rather than just a reseller and u can do everything legally under you’re business. Don’t let them take the mick

I’ve had one. Sold a faulty laptop stated DEAD CPU PCH it was not repairable unless you can replace the part which is hard to find. The guy then sent it back with parts ripped off the board and the battery torn up and the 8GB ram stick missing! Reported to eBay and they gave him half back for stealing the ram! Ridiculous!

I had had the feeling I was being scammed on small electrical items on GSP, I check everything again before packing, then in 2 weeks I got 4 faulty GSP return requests, not damaged, just saying they did not work. I know items can get damaged/broken in transit but buyers were saying they didn't turn on and photos didn't show any damage. Ebay was no help so I no longer make electrical items available to GSP or overseas delivery. I had the feeling the buyers knew they had a high percentage chance of getting a refund and keeping the item.

Do they actually open it up and check before repackaging it and sending it via overseas. I’ve seen so many items overseas, and when the buyer send me a picture of the box at Wickes, the exact same as how I sent it.
eBay allows this type of stuff to happen and they take no responsibility for the action and really their policies should be replaced and there is always two sides to a story, but eBay always happily take the buyers word even tho it’s lie.

It sucks mate, I sold two pairs of brand new New balance trainers to separate buyers and both got returned as counterfeit when I know 100% that they weren’t. I’ve decided not to even bother with trainers anymore, just too much hassle and scammers trying to get partial discounts.

    Thanks for the video.
I would have told the buyer that I have a friend who lives near by to them and they will collect the shoes. They obviously want the shoes so won't want to let them go! They may back down if they are touchable.
It's worth a try, it may go against your morals but it would only be a tiny fib👍
It's a shame there isn't an app where we can list time wasters, non payers and scammers as eBay don't want to know.
Keep up the videos and don't let the scum bags get you down.

Worst thing was that they live in the next village!!! what are the chances of that. I did block my address on the paperwork, maybe I have a prem. Sorry that you have had this experience, hold your head high, you have integrity lets hope they bloody fall apart in a months time and his feet get sore!!! Sorry I am not normally like that, but I feel for you as I have a hard working son about your age. Keep going and don't let them get you down.

I got my first negative review from a buyer:
Buyer said "item not as described" I sell multiple of them with positive feedback as well. Yet the screws were slightly aligned a little bit apart (compared to the picture)
What I don't understand is, he writes negative feedback AFTER 14 DAYS, doesn't even reach out to me so I could rectify it.
Anyways his being very uptight explaining to me his an expert in the field.
He also said please give me a refund and I don't mind giving him a refund frankly....but he hasn't even made a request.

Been dealing with a couple buyers last week trying to pull one over on me, one is brand new playstation 4 that they've clearly tried to take apart and then made a return request for "damaged in shipping" very frustrating. I'll get my item back, see the damage they've caused and then speak to a rep to hopefully dismiss their refund. Really annoying but happens every now and then, stings though!

I was having the same problem, my postman told me that if the QR code on the standard parcel label gets wet (even a spit of rain)and blurs the image their scanners can't read as the image to mark as delivered, he told me to use Tracked 48 with the bigger barcode and touch wood, none have gone missing yet. I know it's 30p more but the compensation is £100 rather than £25 as well, plus it's quicker.

@@darrenthelegendhubbard thats true. I know its only 30p more when spending a small parcel. Thats not bad its when you go from sending items large letter size from £1.15 with tracking is £2.70 thats a massive difference plus when its more than a small parcel its around a extra £1 or so.

I had the same thing happen this week with a buyer from France. The plush had a fault which I photographed and put in item description twice and still they opened an item not described case. Since I am not in France I couldnt send a label for the return and had to send them money via paypal and what happened - item hasn't been posted and now ebay can't close the case here it has to go to ebay france. Its a joke Thanks for the space to rant!!

I'm new to reselling and I got a toy bundle which had a furby and a hatchimal off fb marketplace and a a cd player from carboot. Did a bit of research and worked out a potential £30-£50 profit. Turns out none of them work thanks to rust in battery compartment which without a screwdriver, you couldnt tell. Now yes my fault as not checking 100% but also people saying in good condition, working, never used etc when clearly don't and has been. Its put me in a bad mood and contemplating if it's worth it, if this and your situation regarding ebay scammers? How do you find your motivation to move on from situations like this? Loving the videos by the way.

    No, they're not
The customer can be and usually is wrong.
I sold a gaming capture card, buyer said it wasn't posted, I took a picture of the box behind the post office counter for proof, and sent them a picture of the receipt, they requested a refund before the items delivery date which I had to accept because of eBay's rules. The next day guess what turned up at the customers house. Now luckily I had a good honest customer who paid in full once it arrived but I mean why request a refund before the delivery date anyway

Managed to claim after a million emails with packlink because I paid a premium for insurance 😅

The one that sticks in my mind is a camera that I sold, it was delivered and heard nothing for days, then 3 days before the cooling of period expired I started getting messages about the camera, saying it didn’t work, blah, blah, blah. (Apparently this person was a photography student)
I test everything I sell before it is posted, so I started asking for some more info, long story short they where saying it wouldn’t recognise the SD card, so I asked for a picture of the card. It was a cheap ass card but more importantly it was in the locked position, I pointed this out to them and heard nothing back 🤦🏼‍♂️

Since ebay doesnt give a fuck to do the right thing, reputable sellers should come together with a docks list of these scammer names and addresses so they can avoid doing business with them. Typically a scammer will try their funny business with one seller and move onto others who dont know their rep and tactics like a parasite.
