My very first live gig in 1978, Television supported by the Only Ones, if only I had known that night how influential both bands would become in the following years! We have lost a wonderful lyricist and more than just a guitarist, he could make the thing sing and howl, totally inimitable, there'll never be another Tom Verlaine.
It's been such a great honor to be able to call you my friend. I'm going to miss those late nights going through the dollar books outside the Strand. I'm just disappointed that I never got the chance to say goodbye but every time I listen to one of your songs its like you never left. Thank You for everything.
Unbelievable! So many gone in recent months! I am an original 1977 English punk! I have always loved 'The New York Sound' . Marquee Moon is an amazing LP! I was only playing this LP this week, as it is always wheeled out when I am on a 'vinyl day', so sad! There will never be another Tom Verlaine, or another band like Television! RIP dx
My best friend turned me onto Television when they came on the scene in the 1970s. We caught Tom with Patti Smith, and eventually, Television on their own. Always loved the kaleidoscope melodies Tom could pull out of a Fender guitar.
Thank you Tom, now you can form a congenial duo with Paul and whatever you'll perform, that will be one of my first addresses when I am ready. Love and peace.
I saw him live only once, in the summer of the bicentennial, 1976, @CBGBs, when the audience still had long hair like hippies, but Verlaine already looked like a classic Punk Rocker..
¨Struggling not to have a proffesional career Tom Verlaine I heard Robert Smith said a similar statement around 1986 in a French TV interview. HE went further to say that he would quit the Cure if they ever became a ¨monster band¨..but they are still around
The FINEST musician of Rock history. As any other human jewel, hidden behind tons of stupid & superficial trash. Heaven is a dark cliff today, Torn Curtain making Angels dance.

Marquee Moon still sounds great. Always will
Very sad news.this band really was influential to most new bands out now
Sad. Always thought there would be more time. To steal from Don McLean, "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you"
Rest in peace.

God bless you Tom Verlaine, you gave punk rock a real voice and style 🌈
(He did all that when his genre of music was not even called Punk yet.)
Very sad to hear about Toms passing a true innovator I remember first listening to television as a high school kid in the 80s was extremely unique

Another very sad news after the recent obituary of Keith Levene. R.I.P.
A great innovator and songwriter. _Marquee Moon_ and _Adventure_ are milestones of post-punk and rock.
Thank you, Tom, for everything. Especially Marquee Moon, a gift to the world.
🥁🎸...R.I.P⚘

Really very disrespectful
Television played locally a couple years ago in California, was going to see them but didn't, damn. Marquee Moon amazing song.

Descanse em paz relíquia PUNK 😢
Saw Blondie supporting Television in Bristol Colston Hall
Who did the ridiculous voice over on this video? A bot?
R.I.P. ...much love from Bolivia 🇧🇴 Khollasuyo
