    You are the very first reactor ever to recognized his true ability. He learned how to imitate anything he could hear when he was living on the streets as an abandoned child. Never had professional lesson in his life.He once say if he had a teacher he probably couldn’t do what he does because he imitates perfectly. He’s able to duplicate any Song by any entertainer in any language. His own voice is lovely but it matches thousands of others.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    I love it when the pros and the coaches get stumped by a singer who has never had a single voice lesson in his life. Actually, MP says he has an easier time doing female voices. Re imitating voices and vocal techniques, that involves more effort and talent than just doing your natural own (simple math). Re switching instantly between male and female voices/registers/scales and doing an excellent job of it, I guess it's difficult to comment on something you have not done/cannot do yourself. If that feat were easy, we would have seen more than one singer doing it. Of course there are many who have tried, but none have done it as well as MP.

    You need to know Marcelito's story ~ Marcelito's father was incarcerated and at age 7 yrs old, his mother abandoned him on the streets of a poverty ridden city in The Phillipines. Marcelito would sing to comfort himself when he was frightened and alone. To survive, he cleaned chicken coops for coins and he sang to the chickens. With all of that, he remained kind, gentle and humble. The Prayer, his signature song, was literally his childhood prayer for God to keep him safe and guide him. He has a beautiful voice but there is something else about him that touches peoples' hearts. Marcelito has had absolutely no vocal training and is self taught. He can sing all genres of music, both male and female vocals and in 6 languages. You need to check out his performance Time To Say Goodbye on AGT, The Champions, all of his other performances on The Wish Bus including The Power of Love, Never Enough, My Heart Will Go On, Despacito, You Rsise Me Up and many others from The One Magical Night Concert. Marcelito is an activist for the poor, children, the disabled and the elderly and is an inspiration to many around the world.

      The comments that he is just a mimic/imitator or that what he does is a mere gimmick are just sour grapes from people who could never achieve what he has. Here he is deliberately trying to sound like the two performers he is covering, but that is part of the performance. He is doing it in two foreign languages, in one take, sitting in a studio on a moving bus (the famous Wish Bus). There is a Philippine tradition of men singing in two voices, but I doubt many are as gifted as he is.

    I work in the media industry for over 30 years with professionals. No matter if something sounds perfect to 9 out of 10 people… yes there will always be that person to criticize. He walked 1000 miles and at the feel meters he made a little mistake. Remember that if something has to be 100% technically correct it looses the texture and originality. He was perfect and he was born with the talent to sing. Not everyone can do what he does no matter if they get a phd in singing.

    Marcelito has a duet with the Queen of the Wish bus Morissette Amon. They performed "Secret love song" during the Wish Music Award 2017. That time, Marcelito has the voice of a female and Jason Derulo. Morissette on the other hand can sing all genres and holds the most views and most favorite of YT reactors not because of popularity but because of singing technical skills.

    marcelito is a huge fan of celine, he does an outstanding rendition of THE POWER OF LOVE on the wish bus.
    as an impressionist he can do instant mimicry of people he just met.
    as a self taught vocalist, he developed his artistry while being a homeless street orphan starting at age ~8.
    as an entertainer he has a strong comedic side.

    Marcelito Pomoy grew up in the PHILIPPINES orphaned and homeless. He had no vocal training at all. Any singer doing a cover is imitating the original singer. Marcelito is a gifted original singer that is one of a kind. To be called an imitator like you said is saying he's an imposter. HE IS A GREAT SINGER ALL HIS OWN.

    You are so right that people would hate you for thinking he’s just a mimic. You mentioned that he was straining to reach the various notes and pitches. But then I suppose that you could hit those last three notes with simple ease and Bocellies part as well. And of course do the perfect Italian accent which he does not speak. English is not even a spoken language of his.

      Yes, Marcelito has an incredible ability to sing both vocals completely separate in 2 different languages, which is outstanding! Crissa is right; he does struggle with some of the higher registers, especially with his pitch and tone. Again, fantastic performer, no doubt, but a few tiny areas to improve on!

    In the field of entertainment, people measure things differently, by the yardstick either they have faith in or are comfortable with. Yardsticks can be a common standard or can be simple product of individual preference. I measure Marcelino Pomoy's performance more by the yardstick of entertainment than the technical nuisances of notes, pitches, tones that professional musicians or singers are steeped into. Marcelito is a unique talent in the entertainment world, past or present. And the likelihood is that no one can come by anytime soon. It is alright to judge Marcelito as a performer in terms of the science, if there is any to it, of formal singing. But to nonchalantly dismiss him as a mere imitator of sound than a real singer in some standard that was not even fully flesh out (unlike other voice coaches who were able to explain their observations in a substantive but clear and relatable fashion) smacks of bad taste to say the least. If it was borne out of professional envy then it would be more understandable because self-proclaimed voice experts usually detest the idea of seeing a talent in the field of singing that they do not have, even if they happen to graduate summa cum laude in a voice institute, or has a thousand decades of voice teaching experience. The point is that we should not miss the point! Marcelino's voice and singing talent is phenomenal and commands respect from those who may not be a voice expert like many of us but who know and feel when a super great entertainment talent, with extraordinary singing skill despite the absence of formal training, has come. If he does not pass the test in anyone's yardstick, that is part of the democratic space ought to be respected. But to gloss over the value of the talent of the person because of some tweak or squeak the great majority of those who listened in did not even notice, is crossing the line.

      I am not a voice or singing teacher, but I think your comments are in large part an overreaction to the reactor. She in no way nonchalantly dismissed Pomoy. To the contrary, she explicitly stated, "This singer is an incredible talent". Critiquing the singer from a technical point of view does not appear intended to diminish his talent or impact as an entertainer, and the reactor said as much. I found the reactor analysis here quite interesting and informative, and similar in technical analysis to the critique from Maggie Renee's reactor video titled, "Opera Singer Reacts to Marcelito Pomoy".

    • @alexgaticales3014
      @alexgaticales3014 2 роки тому

      @@damianop100 Your perception of how I perceived the critique is most welcome as part of the democratic space. I also appreciate the effort to stand and be heard to correct any misimpression as perceived. This is how knowledge and understanding grows. I simply reacted to the words used by the critic in a manner and in a tone that I believe best suited the implications her statements generated in me as an ordinary reader. I would have loved to hear her own reaction to my observations and tell me why my comments are an overreaction and from there decide if perhaps something new ought to be learned or even an apology is due.

He never ever had a real training or lessons in singing, he's self-taught. He's not an imitator.
