  • This is my 5 year old 5-ton Homelite electric splitter. I am splitting 23 in. diameter 2-year old California Black Oak (Quercus kelloggii) which blew down in a meadow near my home. The specifications for this splitter state 10 in. diameter capacity, I find that to be conservative. At $300, these are very impressive little splitters. A video detailing the modifications is here:

I'm impressed less handling heavy wood, the way u set up. Right from truck, split and stack.

LOVE THE TABLE FOR THE SPLITTER. RIGHT FROM THE TRUCK TO THE WHEELBARROW. SWEET

It's now June 2022. This splitter is still going strong. Since replacing the wear pads, it's required nothing except a little hydraulic oil every few years. I still burn (and split) 3.5-5 cords per year. Home Depot apparently no longer carries the Homelite model but they have the Ryobi, which is chartreuse intead of red, and still $300!

This video convinced me to buy one of these splitters. Glad I did.

This is a great video, thank you. Had been thinking of buying this wood splitter and now I'm planning on getting it after seeing how you do it. Noticed your pictures in your review of this model on Home Depot's site. Would you consider doing a video showing how we also can modify the hand pedals into foot pedals? Would be so helpful.
    Thank you again!

Nice I'm going to attempt to split a 28" log after I get it.

How much have you used this splitter in the 5 years you had it up until you made this video? I'm blown away by the work you're getting out of it here.

I burn about 3.5 cords per year. 2 years ago I got energetic and put about 15 cords in inventory. I just bought my first replacement parts, the plastic wear pads on the pusher. Still running strong.
