Year 10 GCSE Dance

Year 10 GCSE Dance students have been studying the professional dance performance called ‘A Linha Curva’ by Itzik Galili. The intention of the piece is to show the Brazilian culture of samba parades and ‘having fun’.
The students mirrored the choreographic approach where each dancer made up 2x8 actions based on the dance style of the samba. The students then taught the rest of the class their 2x8 which created the whole routine. We then worked collaboratively to put this into a performance piece showing the same formations and choreographic devices used in the original performance such as accumulation of canon, unison, use of diagonal lines, straight lines, and solo performances. We also included some vocal chants and calls of encouragement as shown in the original.
The end performance shows a clear understanding of the work.
