- The stimulus for this piece was a mining or industrial accident.
This piece tells the story of a mother finding out that her child has died in a mining accident. I based this dance around the Abavan mining incident.

olivia ¡ Thankyou, I would probably say establish a storyline as it's easier to find music and movement that correlates. Depicting a real life event is good because you can do research which is good for your program notes as it shows you the examiner you put in a lot of effort. Research all the stimuluses and don't just go with your first choice as it may not be the best. Stand out make your dance unique so it catches the examiners attention. Hope that helped good luck !
I’ll currently doing mine too ! Make sure to pick a stimulus that you have a clear choreographic intention to and be sure to link movements to your intent , that way you can talk about it in your programme note easier. Also make sure to think about use of space , different facings and a strong climax! Good luck x

Tilly awe thankyou. Probably the same tbh . Be unique and include a range of movements. Have a really clear dance concept that shows you've researched and planned as opposed to just sticking with the first idea. Be unique in your set phrases to show the examiner you really know the choreo but also that you can interpret it in your own way . (But don't change the foundations of it obviously)Just be committed and stand out. Treat it like a competition in a way , be the one that stands out.

I am doing the banksy work and my stimulus is "One Nation Under CCTV" and one of my friends is doing "No likes kid"
Hey, this dance is good, especially the motif development and the circular structure you've used! I'm struggling with my choreography stimuli and how to make an original idea out of it ugh, I'm wanting to use the "one or more items of stationary" question for my stimulus but can't think of any good ideas besides a mother recieving a letter from her husband at war. Any help or advice with choreography? I'm done with my trio and set phrases and I got full marks on that but dropped 1 on the breathe phrase :)
Hey, well done for getting top marks that’s really good! I would say brainstorm as many types of stationary you can think of, that way you can find ideas with a clear link. Don’t feel restricted to the most obvious idea. You could take the idea of a ruler for example and link it to the monarchy then you could do it about lady Jane Grey and depict her 9 days on the throne. Or life under the puritans and Cromwell and portray a story of oppression. In terms of the actual choreography I would say don’t go for the obvious e.g if you wanted to do a kick think about a unique way instead of just a kick. Basically just be original and ask your self is there a way I can make this movement unique. Hope this helps
How many marks did this solo get?
Jessie Khan I’m not actually sure but I got a 9 overall combining this choreography, set phrase and performance mark and also my theory mark.
