Chris Cornell was one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time. If you want some more Soundgarden, their track The Day I Tried To Live is a great one.
Greatest vocalist, not just grunge, Chris had range out of this world & he was also a bit of blues in his voice & there are very few who could match the raw emotion he put into every song, even ones he didn't write.
The entire album is amazing and underrated. I initially bought it for Cochise, then I loved Like a Stone and in the years my fav has become Shadow on the Sun.
Cornell Said that he wrote the song in a matter minutes after mishearing something on the radio that sounded like a news anchor saying "black hole sun. but he also said a black hole is a billion times larger than a sun, it's a void, a giant circle of nothing, and then you have the sun, the giver of all life. It was this combination of bright and dark, this sense of hope and underlying moodiness
Chris is one of the greatest vocalists ever. Check out his other bands Audioslave, Temple of the Dog and anything he does solo. Every song is an experience with him on lead vocals
No, don't check out Audioslave, by far the most generic, uninteresting music in Chris's catalog. Unless you're a 55 year old accountant then that's right up your alley but do many more Soundgarden songs and Temple of the Dog before you go to that.
@@FURTHER_ADO how do you feel about RATM? just curious because there is nothing generic or uninteresting about Audioslave. They're just different than the grunge sound we were used to accompanying Chris' voice. Audioslave-Like a Stone, Audioslave was a super group with Chris Cornell on vocals and members of Rage Against the Machine. This song foreshadowed what Chris Cornell was feeling 15yrs before his death. At first listen it sounds he's talking about a girl but he's actually talking about waiting for death. RIP
I always interpreted this song to mean that he wanted a black hole or a storm to wash away all of the fakeness and evil in the world, he just wanted it to end

This was one of their more mainstream songs. I'd love to see you react to Soundgarden Rusty Cage or Spoonman. Outshined is a good choice as well. For his band Audioslave (also Chris Cornell, but with the band from Rage Against the Machine) I would recommend Cochise. He's truly one of the most talented vocalists to ever live. RIP Chris

"I had misheard a news anchor, and I thought he said 'black hole sun,' but he said something else," Cornell once told a reporter. "It created this image in my brain and I thought it would be an amazing song title... That was a title that came before music, so the music was the inspiration that came from the images created by those words."
Yes, this is the natural progression of your tour through grunge. Chris Cornell RIP...one of the best voices ever. I suggest Cornell as singer with the band members of Rage Against The Machine who collaborated as Audioslave. Cochise, Like a Stone and Show Me How to Live are all good choices.
I knew the song long before I ever saw the video. To be honest, it's hard to follow the lyrics when I'm watching the weirdness. 😂 Soundgarden was brilliant guitars and Chris's voice will always give me chills.
Chris Cornell had the voice of an angelic demon. Easily one of the best voices in rock history. I was lucky enough to see Soundgarden a couple of times. I will always treasure those memories. RIP Chris.
Good Soundgarden songs are Loud Love and Hands All Over, Outshined, Jesus Christ Pose, Rusty Cage, Superunknown, Fell On Black Days, Like Suicide, Burden In My Hand, and as a wild card try Big Dumb Sex. Guns N Roses covered it… lots of f-bombs in it though.

Guys Join the club.- I have heard this song dozens of times and I think that I get a general vibe, although I’m not sure. There is a great cover by Nora Jones, on piano, which she performed at the same theater where Chris Cornell played his last concert.
Soundgarden were the best band in Seattle, and Chris Cornell was the most talented… even though Nirvana was my favorite. The Screaming Trees were also one of the best Seattle bands. The singer had a side project with Kurt from Nirvana, and went on to sing as a guest for the Queens or the Stone Age. The Trees’ biggest hit was Nearly Lost You, which was on the Singles soundtrack along with Soundgarden and Chris Cornell solo. Other Trees songs were Shadow of the Season, Butterfly, and Dollar Bill.

Its funny, because in an interview Chris Cornell said that this is one of the few songs he wrote lyrically just playing with words and that it sort of worked out. Chris Cornell is my favorite vocalist of all time. I think his best vocals are when he was in the one album band called Temple of the dog and the song "Say Hello to Heaven" is the best vocals by Chris in my opinion.
You should react to songs that others haven't reacted to. Soundgarden has so many songs that are so good. Like TIGHTER AND TIGHTER; BOOT CAMP; JESUS CHRIST POSE; SLAVES AND BULLDOZERS
He was asked in an interview what it meant. He literally wrote it in his head and then whistled the melody in a tape recorder while driving down the road at like 3 am and then when he woke up the next day played the mucis and sang and then took it to his band and ask them what they thought. He said its the only song that he ever wrote that had no real meaning.
Please watch "chris cornell-when um down, live". This Song is the most popular but not even top 15 Cornell songs, this doesnt show how great vocalist he was,the best to me mind blowing
It's bout the end of the world pretty much. The apocalypse.. Y'all should check out Jesus Christ Pose by Soundgarden badass tune. Also Pantera - Cemetery Gates, Metallica - Blackened and Battery and Pearl Jam - Go
When you do Cochise - Audioslave, do the official video... Audioslave is Chris on vocals, but the rest of the band are the guys from Rage Against The Machine. Every song they wrote was great!
Why don't we give it a meaning when you're young you're like the sun shining and when you're old it's like the Black Hole Sun come in and swallowing it all up because you going to be gone
Good song but it dosent do him justice. Chris is up their with Layne Staley!!! Cant wait for you to get to Audioslave . They have great music. They are Chris & Rage Against the Machine minus Zach. My personal favorite "Like a Stone", video was shot in Jimi Hendrix's house. Also Temple of a Dog "Hungerstrike" & "Say Hello to Heaven" He also does amazing covers of Micheal Jackson's "Billie Jean" and a song Prince write "Nothing Compares to you". Always more requests for Alice in Chains. A much newer band hope ya'll get to is Twenty One Pilots!!!!
chris cornell great talent , great vocal, try you know my name, or know ur enemy, try nothing compares to you cover , try shadows in the sun please , u need try chris stapleton traveler , or i was wrong, and tenesse wiski , treveler live are a perfect song
Just like there are abstract or impressionist paintings, there is music without a literal meaning. Instead of what the words mean focus on what the words make you think of or what they make you feel when you hear them.
Ok...so Juice Wrld always referenced being "lost in the Abyss" right? The meaning is basically the feeling of hopelessness, dread, and sadness, normally caused by depression , personal problems, or LACK of EMOTION. The people in the video are basically 'lost in the abyss'. They try to hide behind image of suburban lifestyle, but their just as fkd up as anyone else and their emotionless but try to put on fake expressions of happiness to appear to be what they consider "normal". This sort of like Chris's view on most of the people in society, especially the ones in power and those who damn others for being different, but their true selves. "In my eyes, indisposed, in disguises no one knows, hides the face, lies the snake". The video shows Chris in the clouds looking down at the chaos with the face of not giving a fk. He had said something in an interview like, that he told the director that the band wasn't going to go out of their way to please others and they were basically going to look like they didn't want to do this anymore. So, while he is being his true self, he is now above the world that he refused to be apart of, as that world gets wiped out. I guess it's sort of like how in every era there is an empire that sways the society of which they rule to their demise. Their supposed to be for the people, but really their snakes that only care about what affects them personally. "Black hole sun, wont u come and wash away the rain?" So, I also have thought that "rain" has a double meaning. I think it also means "reign", he is pretty much begging for the "Black Hole Sun to come and wash away the reign". Get rid of all of it and start from scratch.I believe "hole" can be a double for "whole", just bc since the 'Black Hole' is so much larger than the sun, it can swallow it whole. 'Black Hole' represents "void", a giant circle of nothing (dark) and the 'Sun' represents the giver of life (light). Even though the 'Sun' is surrounded by darkness it is still a bright light, and the beaken of hope. It might be small as hell and really can't be seen, but it's there. Idk I can be wrong. I was so young when this song/video dropped, but now as an adult I see it as way more than a cool video. I always look forward to ur videos bc I love seeing your genuine curiosity of actually wanting to learn more. Keep up the grind my guy🖤
So many songs that are great from Soundgarden, Audioslave and Chris as a solo singer. I suggest Outshined or Fell on Black Days next. Ironically Black Hole Sun is one of my least favourite.
This is one of those videos where I think the visuals take away from the music. First time listeners (imho) should watch a lyric video first, before watching the music video. Just my 2 cents.
It’s commentary on the pointlessness most peoples lives. Most people will spend their lives doing nothing but staring in the mirror watching TV playing on the Internet and their phone, focusing on shit that truly doesn’t matter. Very few people will actually do anything with their lives other than find ways to distract themselves from the fact that they have an expiration date. In the back of the minds of everyone who is ignoring it, they’re still aware of it; and it’s driving them slowly crazy as they age and inch closer to the grave. Everyone dies. But very few people ever really live.
Hey guys if you are looking for a real good live performance than i can only say nightwish it is a band who is known for there theatrical sound. when you listen to this song you wil think that you are listening to a movie score. So check out Nightwish - Ghost love score (live wacken 2013). believe me there one of the best live bands you wil hear (the band is extremely popular in europe and south america and getting everyday more fans in the usa )
Among these bands, my favorite was always the Stone Temple Pilots. Plush, Big Empty and Dead and Bloated are all great songs but, you have to start with arguably their greatest hit, Interstate Lovesong.
I wish they would make videos like these now. Now it's just how many views they can get don't get me rowing that's not a bad thing. I just wish it would be more. And more thoughts into it. I think it's about drugs and the human experience. Of life I guess.

🔥 Reaction as always💯 I remember watching this video on MTV before walking to Middleschool in Savanah, GA! Good memories 👍
Audioslave, like a stone plis
Audioslave like a stone
Audioslave-like a stone

No real meaning Chris had a weird dream and wrote this after is the story I heard, just a crazy dream ✌
Legendary!!
Check out “Fell on black days” 🔥❤️
Just like there are abstract or impressionist paintings, there is music without a literal meaning. Instead of what the words mean focus on what the words make you think of or what they make you feel when you hear them.
Limp Bizkit-"Rollin" & "Break Stuff"
Only Chris in this song
A black hole happens when a star supernovas, or explodes. He's asking for the sun to explode to end human existence.
Down with the Sickness.... Dusturbed
He wanted to end the world to end his suffering 😜
React to audioslave- like a stone pleaseee
Like a stone pls
It’s commentary on the pointlessness most peoples lives. Most people will spend their lives doing nothing but staring in the mirror watching TV playing on the Internet and their phone, focusing on shit that truly doesn’t matter. Very few people will actually do anything with their lives other than find ways to distract themselves from the fact that they have an expiration date. In the back of the minds of everyone who is ignoring it, they’re still aware of it; and it’s driving them slowly crazy as they age and inch closer to the grave. Everyone dies. But very few people ever really live.
Missing Chris Cornell. :(
Hey guys if you are looking for a real good live performance than i can only say nightwish it is a band who is known for there theatrical sound. when you listen to this song you wil think that you are listening to a movie score. So check out Nightwish - Ghost love score (live wacken 2013). believe me there one of the best live bands you wil hear (the band is extremely popular in europe and south america and getting everyday more fans in the usa )
I think the two of you might like some Otis... (Sittin' On) the Dock of the Bay
You already reacted to Chris Cornell doing Nothing Compared to U and Billy Jean
He was a legend in life and in death 👍you should check out Nora Jones version of this at his tribute concert it's immense 👌👍👍
Among these bands, my favorite was always the Stone Temple Pilots. Plush, Big Empty and Dead and Bloated are all great songs but, you have to start with arguably their greatest hit, Interstate Lovesong.
She’s so cute lol
Since you haven't reacted to them I strongly recommend JINJER - Pisces (Live Session)
You guys should react to, Dr Dre ft. Eminem and Xzibit- Whats the difference, the live version on the Up in the Smoke Tour (2001)
Staind is another great band to check out
I wish they would make videos like these now. Now it's just how many views they can get don't get me rowing that's not a bad thing. I just wish it would be more. And more thoughts into it. I think it's about drugs and the human experience. Of life I guess.
Plsss react to Soundgarden Beyond the wheel or slaves and bulldozzers!!!!!!!
The meaning...dark days
Nice reaction, hope y'all do Gorillaz some day on ur channel
React to "Rage against the machine - Killing in the name"
Play hunger strike temple of the dogs
Man you gotta react to some Big Wreck! Criminally underrated band guys! You would Like Ian Thornley, incredible vocals live! In my opinion miles better than Cornel, especially live by far. Give them a listen. Few songs to consider are The Oaf, That Song, Blown Wide Open, Look What I Found, Wolves, and so many more good ones. There is no end to the incredible music this band makes.
