She sounds great in this video because shes singing in her lower register and thats where her most belting power and perfect control are,she is naturally an alto and altos can go pretty high..I know a lady at church whos an alto and when it comes to hitting high notes she can go pretty high but her comfort is in her lower range...jive tries to make britney sing like a soubrette or a soprano just for the money,and you can see when she is singing live in her nasally baby tone she dosent have the control or shes struggling to have the control and she cracks out of key because her voice cant sustain that unnatural way of singing for a long period of time...listen to "silent night 1996" or "let go" and you can hear what her voice really sounds like...some of these fools on here just got it jammed in their heads that britney cant do anything..and its just crazy..she is a very talented woman and hopefully she will make another album that shows off her REAL voice.
Kameron Green Right on. Comparing her 1996 version of "Silent Night" (lower register) and the 1999 one (higher register), you can very clearly tell in which one she has the full power and control . It's a pity what Jive did to her though. Now so many people think she can't actually sing, while she's just faking it pretty much the whole career. What's even worse, they won't even let her built her reputation and start all over. To be honest, I would freak out If I was her.

***** yea jive records didn't think her naturally deep mezzo soprano voice would sell,so they instead made her take on the nasally high pitched voice...that nasally voice is garbage and she can't do nothing with that voice...she needs to get back to singing in her deep voice,she could totally do a soulful song with that voice...listen to let go by britney and baby boy by britney....also type up britney spears sings at wedding and you will hear how her natural voice is.

Listen to guilty by britney spears the song is annoyingly fast..to me that is....but wheb the song is about midway you will hear her singing in her actual deep voice,so i do think she can sing in her real tone,its not like its gonna disappear,because there are songs like on britney jean where you hear her sing in different notes her deep voice so when it comes to trying to hear britneys real voice you gotta dig a little,but most definitely look up guilty by britney and midway you will hear her sing in her actual voice.
***** nah...here's a live example of her voice...listen to im not a girl not yet a woman live 2002 mexico and at the beginning part of the song when she says "it seems like im caught in the middle and thats when i realized " thats done in her real voice...so you really have to dig to hear little gems like that.

OMG her vocals. I was not expecting that! Her belts and vocal runs are so deep and pure. As much as I love her higher, breathier vocals, I wish she would've experimented with these vocals more in the beginning of her career.

Her natural voice is really low with powerful belted notes. Jive has been messing with her voice a lot, trying to chenge her natural tone to a more soprano- like one (high-pitched) which is hard for her to repliacte live. She really struggles with her "fake" voice.
I agree. That fake baby voice makes this weird rarrr type of sound that upsets my ears everytime I hear that particular rarrr sound. Sounds like a pale person trying to mimic darker soul and failing miserably. I didn't think she could sing until my sister turned me on to this song(I hadn't seen her much earlier work). I wish she was allowed to sing like this all of the time! Her real voice has a beautiful dark soul of its very own. Hopefully once she is free again she will not let anyone stop her from using her true and amazing vocal talents.

Great live vocals, as they always are when she sings completely live. I'm always been a huge fan of her voice and singing. I think her voice is unique and beautiful to listen to. And her singing is really expressive. She never oversings or belts out just to impress. She does what it takes to convey the meaning of the lyrics. Pure perfection.

Actually, this clip proves that she can only 'try' to sing if she stands stock still. FORGET the professionalism if she has to do a 'show'. Pink can do both quite well, so trying to pretend it can't be done is a lie.

Right! My little sister turned me on to this song. If I remember correctly it was the last one on the album. I couldn't stand her voice because I hadn't heard her much earlier stuff. I didn't know that baby voice was fake even though my ears told me it was beyond fake and strained. I heard this and fell in love with her real voice. I remember saying, "why doesn't she always sing like this?"

Kim 1234 I mean Max martin has produced good songs for Britney and many pop artists but I have noticed that Britney sang with a mix of the lower voice with the nasal voice in Bomt and even in Oidia. Britney has a natural raspy sound to her voice now but I can see that it is really starting to reagin power. Britney said that the glory era was a reinvention of herself and hearing songs like clumsy, make me, lair, love me down, and even what you need show me how her natural voice is starting to shine through. Britney deserves more credit for Glory and tbh I think it is a grammy worthy album 💕💕
Kim 1234 it is true Britney did well in the Bomt era and the Oidia era but in the "Britney" era, a lot of her love vocals sounded forced just like u said especially not a girl not yet a woman, most performaces of that song seemed like she had to force the voice. I am glad that she in now starting to sing better even rolling stone said that Britney deserd some time of award for Glory because she sounds free. If she keeps giving us vocals like the ones from glory and if she practices on working at her voice, I really think that she could be just like star search Britney because Britney is taking comtrol of her music now , I'm so proud of her🎶💕

It's nice to hear this teenage girl paying homage to a classic song. Even nicer is that by doing her own thing - she's one of the most successful artists of this millenium. What's sad is that people don't have the maturity to realise that they cannot like absolutely everything, or the understanding to take this free performance for what it is.

It's my favorite Britney's Non-Single track on Baby One More Time album (along with I Will Be There). Yes, original Cher's version was superb but Britney's one doesn't sound like cheap cover. She made it sound very unique and sweet. The music is fantastic

Holy cow! How amazing! Britney actually started the song by copying Buddy Rich and his Daughter Cathy, from July 22nd 1967! I've had that song (by Buddy Rich as well as Sonny & Cher) on my Ipod for years and years! The video went up on UA-cam years ago which I had never seen or even knew it existed up until a few years ago! I'll bet no one even knows that she did a take off of both Sonny & Cher's and Buddy Rich and his Daughter Cathy's version as a mash up! Just stumbled on this video! Never really Spears fan, however, the more I look into her history, the more I am Impressed at how many things she's done that have just flown over peoples heads. this is a great example! She nailed it!!
