@@RichardsNickname you can upgrade PC's pretty cheap these days if it's that old I thinks it's about time for an upgrade anyways 💀 like literally a HP Compaq elite 8200 for 80 USD or 90 AUD and you can just throw some more ram and a GPU in for 110 bucks and that's a decent PC for a while, and you don't even need a GPU, just 8gbs of ram will do (this is assuming you don't wanna game, which I doubt you do if your PC can't even handle windows 10)
Apple is better at that. They look out for their customers and donnot allow you to Install an os on a device that may run slow with it and then advise you to buy a new device

The only reason I moved to 10 from 7 was because my favourite software and games were no longer supporting 7. Some would even outright refuse to run, like FiveM.
One of my PCs is still running on Windows 7 and it's still good. My family's planning to upgrade it though, and it's sad since I've had fond memories with that OS.

That's nothing, my school had computers than ran on even older systems. It took 20 minutes to load a single search in explorer. Chrome didn't work on any of them, it tried updating and it wasn't able to do it so we used explorer.
There were no computers when I was in school. I got my first Timex-Sinclair computer 10 years after high school, and my first IBM compatible PC 7 years after that. There was DOS and Windows 3.1. When Windows 95 came out, hardly anyone's computer could run it.

If the laptop is 10 years old then don't upgrade to win 10, that hardware was designed for windows 7, it might end up running super slow, almost unusable. Happened with my laptop, and its just as old.
No Microcock system released after Win7 is an "upgrade". They're outright DOWNGRADES, that you will need to spend an hour or two hacking in order to make feel secure and your own. I highly recommend testing the Linux waters at this point. The Zorin OS and Linux Mint distros offer very Windows-like experience, with all the benefits of the open-source world. You can even try them out off an USB stick.

After that so much unnecessary bloat was introduced to the OS like that news and weather thing that literally no one asked for. So many of my projects broke with newer versions so 1909 seems to be the most compatible with everything.

I find myself always using Windows 10 debloater to get rid of all the stuff and it really feels like it shouldn’t be necessary. I prefer the fact windows 7 provides you with a fully clean installation and actually has an attractive and beautiful interface that can be combined with system wide themes to make it look and sound even better
i mean it's 13 years old and most pcs nowadays can't even use windows 7. for example the limit for windows 7 x86 is 4gb of ram and x64 is 32. also many games and apps nowadays can't even work on windows 7

So far the oldest pc i upgraded was a pc from 2000ish upgraded Millennium Edition to 11 without hiccups. In fact, most fan testing shows 10%-20% performance boosts for older PCs across different mediums compared to older versions of windows (cant recall but I think 7 and 10 was tested). Even at its very buggy launch when new GPUs were loosing 50% performance. Outdated hardware was still running better then it did. If you ask how, somebody just put windows 11 files in the windows 10 installer. Thats it. Like a 30kb file change. Later one somebody just kept the 11 installed but took out it checking for TPM. Thats also it.
I’m gonna say this since I used to work at the TSA, those PCs still run on Vista. If it wasn’t a problem when they ended support for that I don’t think it’ll be any worse now.
Windows 7 Enterprises here. I've been extremely struggle to upgrade into windows 10. And in order to do that i had to downgrade from enterprise into either ultimate or other edition. the problem is.........i lost the product key

My grandpa be using windows vista and it takes like 5 minutes just to get all the icons to show up after you log in. He mainly uses the laptop to play some kind of game like go or similar and watch korean tv shows
I refused for so long to upgrade from windows 7 to 10. Honestly 11 is really good but I still miss the layout of 7. Little things like how easy changing the volume used to be and that the mixer didn't need to open the settings app made it so much easier to navigate.

Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 are the operating systems for the Bar97 and Bar OIS, these are the smog machines in the country and we've been rolling out Windows 10 on both machines and its been a nightmare. Hundreds upon thousands of machines and like 80 techs to do the updates.
I remember when windows 10 first came out and the Air Force heads said everything needs to be windows 10 by the end of the week. Of course we had very serious concerns for security…that were promptly ignored. Yeah don’t listen to the trained cybersecurity experts. Dude. As a producer, there's a LOT of old, expensive, and amazing equipment that do not have any drivers for operating systems past windows 7. I imagine this is true for a lot of other equipment too. If this forces people to upgrade their windows versions... the amount of lost technology would be devastating. Well more than likely there will just be a lot of 3rd party drivers made, but still.
I still see one of my friend using win xp, and win vista. Unless microsoft created a virus to brick every pc with previous windows i dont see them switching to windows 10 or 11. One of my friend really considering switching to linux if they force him to have that "recall" update.

My mom for some reason hates the new look of anything past Windows 7 and paid extra or something to keep 7. Even when stuff doesn’t work on it because of the old system she still prefers it lol

Windows Xp was the last time the operating system had a Unifyed UI experiance god i miss that.
They did the same for xp, most stores still use a modified version of xp for their product inventory. But it’s reassuring to know they’ll give people a free upgrade to a operating system they’re going to stop supporting in 2025. Good ole Microsoft.

Dude. As a producer, there's a LOT of old, expensive, and amazing equipment that do not have any drivers for operating systems past windows 7. I imagine this is true for a lot of other equipment too. If this forces people to upgrade their windows versions... the amount of lost technology would be devastating.
Well more than likely there will just be a lot of 3rd party drivers made, but still.

Man windows 8.1 was a great precursor to windows 10.
Windows 7 was the best.
You cannot even argue with me on this.
Will be a cold day in hell before i ever downgrade win7 to spyware platform win10/11. But i do boot into my favourite distro when needed.
Windows XP is still going to be the forever best. I remember when Microsoft ended support for that OS.
I still see one of my friend using win xp, and win vista. Unless microsoft created a virus to brick every pc with previous windows i dont see them switching to windows 10 or 11.
One of my friend really considering switching to linux if they force him to have that "recall" update.
