This episode just shows how much you both appreciate and understand the Filipino music industry. Your familiarity with the artists, past and present makes it apparent at how exposed you both are you their craft. No, you are not "Filipino music historians," as what Efra said, but, you sure do know a lot about Filipino music history. 😊
I agree JayR and Kyla was big in the 2000s. Regine was definitely big in the 90s than this list portrayed. This list was very alternative-centric, when it was just only one of the many genres big that time. I feel during that time the main genres were alternative/rock bands, powerballads (Regine’s, Jaya’s, Gary’s, and Martin’s), and international artists. And in 2010s international artists dominated the Philippine airwaves.
Yeah a lot of genres were missing. Should have removed some of the novelty songs like Viva Hotbabes because they don't really represent the music industry. Jay-R, Kyla, Martin Nievera, Erik Santos, Noel Cabangon, Lani Misalucha, Jimmy Bondoc, Imago, Session Road, Slapshock, should have been there instead.
Guys I'm your fan way back 4 years ago. I just want to appreciate you showcasing filipino talents on your platform. I remember your video on the very first filipino singer you've reacted to (Morissette). That was the beginning of you loving filipino talents. I love how you're not just reacting just like every other UA-camrs. We can see that you really enjoyed what you are doing and also trying to learn and understand our culture and language. I'm a fan of Efra on how he always pinpoint every single detail he say something about filipinos even if he doesn't really know us, He's just like reading our minds. I'm pretty sure he's a filipino in his past life haha. You waleska is so stunning. I love your technician comments because you're a singer and an artist also. You're pretty girl ! Wishing you and your family all the best in life. Loving from the Philippines 🫶🏻

I think Efra and Waleska need to do an in-depth listening of the 80's singers and artists. That era also has some of the longest lasting voices in OPM. Lots of legends started in that era.
I think the biggest personality you miss out there is around 29:13 it is Sandara Park of 2NE1, Sandara is part of reality tv show here in the Phillipines at that time and becomes a huge celebrity, then move back to Korea around 2009 and join 2NE1.
OMG, looking at this video and Im thinking..how amazing how much Filipino singers you know just from the face! Well done, guys! Also on 15:00 when Efra's asking who is this..its Sharon Cuneta.
Geez, you recognized more Filipino music and artists than I did! Thanks for truly appreciating Philippine music. I wish that someone would make a compilation that feature other amazing and iconic bands like The New Minstrels, Circus Circus, VST, Hotdog, etc. I would also like a focused compilation for Kuh Ledesma, Zsa Zsa Padilla, Jaya, Vernie Varga, Lani Misalucha, etc. Is there a content creator who will grant my wish??? Although there are mistakes on some dates and information about the songs but rest assured that I will upload the updated version with songs from 2020 to the present Anyway thanks for your reaction
the 90s teen queen that you're wondering about is jolina magdangal. she was the pop girly of 90s. i heard bini's stylist get inspo from her since she has iconic fashion
bro. 90s kid here. I missed my era so much. Miss my chilhood. This brings so much memories. Times when there was no cellphone. The songs and artists now improved alot.
Our ancient tribal music is all about chord progressions. But first there were bamboo instruments and drums. we were nomadic. Gongs were instruments of settled peoples. If you have time Dr Jose Maceda ethnomusicologist is idolized by many ethno-rockers like Joey Ayala and Grace Nono. Maceda excavated and discovered so much about our ancient sacred music. He has recordings. He died 2004
It is insane that you know as much, maybe even more, of the Filipino industry than most of us Filipinos here!! You really are pretty much honorary Filipinos! It's so flattering to see someone else appreciate our culture. Makes me want to pay attention to it more and make sure I'm not taking it for granted.

Tindig ang balahibo ko sa reaction nyo Kasi kabisado nyo ang mga pangalan ng mga old singer sa Philippines. Thank you sa inyong dalawa.. saludo Ako sa inyo. Salamat.
@10:16 Yeah I think they used compañero as well, later shortened to "pañero". I think they use the "compare"/"kumpare" variant more. Edit: Unfortunate that the video creator didn't include the names of the artists.
Deyyymmm~ Filipino song master class. Your so informative. And yes konpañeros is used in tagalog, commonly way bak 70s and 80s. Old folks still using it.
Early to late 2000's era is so wierd and so random. Listening to balad then RnB song plays after. Then switched to girl group songs (viva hot babes, sexbomb, etc). Then switched to rap/hiphop songs. Then your sister change the song to sarah/regine, celine dion. Then you switched it to band songs (parokya, e-heads, etc). Damn! What at era! 😆
HELLO GUYS watching you from Sydney Australia . Thanks for featuring and liking the Filipino music industry . Feeling mutual reciprocal in those popular Spanish popular songs that crossover borders
You guys cracks me up, I love you guys! 😂👍❤️ I can relate to all the contents of this blog. I came to the U.S. in 1970 from PI. Thanks, it brings back such a very good memories to me.
Amazing content, love to see more of this with other countries music history! It’s always fun to discover the history and growth of music in other countries, really eye opening.
15:00 that's Sharon Cuneta 😇 29:13 that's Sandara 😁 Radio and television also were high in the 80s - variety shows, radio dramas, telenovelas, television sitcoms - all were incorporated to and with music. That flowed smoothly through the 90s and 2000s - with bands, boybands (from matinee idols), esp with the emergence of MTV Asia in '92.
This is very informative. I myself as a Filipino didn't know the fckng evolution of music here in the country. Thank you guys for bringing this up and for loving and embracing our music. Mabuhay kayo! 🎉🇵🇭
"Los españoles nos jodieron los dos." 😂 Exactamente. I admire your extensive dissection of the evolution of Filipino music. It's impressive how much you know about Filipino artists and our songs and analyze them according to the context of the period that they existed. It goes to show your genuine interest and appreciation of our musical culture. Me encanta tambien la cultura venezolana como soy una gran fan de la arepa. 😋Sí, se puede encontrar la harina PAN en Manila. Que vayan muy bien siempre los dos. Los aprecio mucho. 🥰
Thank you guys for this video, its feels like i travel in the past.. and those music really reminds me up of my life before.Cherishing the moments, the sadness and happiness of every songs that showed up on the screen.❤Thank You very much...More power.

Randy santiago, ariel rivera, marco sison, julie vega, haji alejandro, rodel naval, vst & company, eraserheads, asin, basil valdez, smokey mountain., etc. ..look at the stories of these singers...interesting!
The Duo MYMP at 30:08 Try to check them out. They have a full list of great songs. Even IU recognized them and sang one of their song ' Say that you love me" during her 1st concert in PH 4 yrs ago. She used to listen to them during her teenage years.
MYMP (Juris as vocalist) + Nina + other acoustic performers (Paolo Santos, Nyoy Volante, etc) = the early 2000s began the resurgence of OPM dominating the radio back then.
You guys know more about the filipino music scene than I do hats off to you and your love for the music industry as a whole is phenomenal!!! Thank you for loving our music and culture!!!❤
Why did they not include Jay-R and Kyla's songs? They had a lot of great and beautiful songs in the early 2000, they were the ones who started to hit the RNB songs in their era here in the Philippines. They will not be called King and Queen of RNB if they're not.
My parents’ generation also love bolero, tango, & cha-cha music. Filipino parties have no absence of these music, even now with salsa, cumbia, reggaeton, & merengue added. Yes, we’re Latinos of Asia.
It also helped that Latino artists like Menudo, Gloria Estephan, Julio Iglesias, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Thalia, were super popular in the Philippines.
this got me chillz man.. you both got most of the artist more than the average Pinoy Gen-Zs.. thats why I love you guys.. me as a 90's kid.. so proud of you! and yes 90's the year of the bands its a decade of banging..
Thanks Waleska and Efra for this podcast. You actually helped me appreciate our music. Filipino music and talent that I didn’t realize deserved more recognition than it gets. Didn’t know about it till i learned your point of view of how this much talent and how frequent you can find an individual who can carry a tune or sing isn’t the same with other countries.
I had the liberty to meet and talk to Hale's singer (the ones who made the song Blue Sky) during my summer vacation in highschool and he was legit so down to earth and humble. If I didn't know who he was, I would have mistaken him as a friendly neighborhood uncle. He cracked jokes and invited me to watch a concert where other artists would also perform like up dharma down. Then when he found out I was the bassist for my highschool band at the time, he was smiles all over and wished me well. The best✨️
Even I'm Born in 2001 I still love the Old Songs and also New Songs. It's really good to hear that Music here in Our World are still Expanding Every Year and becoming Relevant to Our Life listening Every day. MUSIC IS LIFE ❤
36:57 don't get me wrong Jay-r and Kyla were great singers, but the hype in 2010s was pretty much dominated by Hiphop/Rap and Alt Rock, that's probably why... And this also somehow influenced the current school of Hiphop and Alt Rock in which are very hot in today's Music Industry...
I really appreciate you guys. You know more about Filipino artists and music than most Filipinos today. I've been watching your videos since 2019 or 2020, I guess.
Wow! I am surprised how you guys could appreciate our history of music here. I am also surprised how versed you are with the artists and songs. Hehehe. It makes me feel proud to be Filipino. Yes, there are a lot of singers and artists that were not there and were not given a token or courtery. Where was Martin Nievera, Lani Misalucha, Jay-R, etc. Too bad. Thank you for this video. 🙏🙏🙏👍👍✌✌ Humbled and honored. ❤❤💐💐🙏🙏
It's really nice knowing that you appreciate our music. I would love for the two of you coming here to the Philippines and meet the artist personally. I bet they would love to meet with you guys.
When efra knows a lot of names my heart is overwhelm❤ your memory is sharp dude 👍 this shows how you guys loved the ph ( i mean i know ever since the first time i watched your reaction video) looking forward to more rv of yours digging different genre's ❤

It's so flattering to see someone else appreciate our culture. Makes me want to pay attention to it more and make sure I'm not taking it for granted.

You missed 20:59. Thats Paul Sapiera with his band, Rockstar. Paul Sapiera is EZ Mil's dad.
Hello I just stumbled in here and it's really nice seeing your appreciation for Filipino music. It's gives me nostalgia as well. 90's baby here!
Compañero is very much a word we use in the exact same context as you guys.
14:59 Sharon Cuneta
25:48 Jolina Magdangal
30:10 Juris Fernandez of MYMP
Deyyymmm~ Filipino song master class. Your so informative.
And yes konpañeros is used in tagalog, commonly way bak 70s and 80s. Old folks still using it.
So happy that you have a heart for Filipino music and artists. You're so great! More power!
They keep following the trend
HELLO GUYS watching you from Sydney Australia . Thanks for featuring and liking the Filipino music industry . Feeling mutual reciprocal in those popular Spanish popular songs that crossover borders
You guys cracks me up, I love you guys! 😂👍❤️ I can relate to all the contents of this blog. I came to the U.S. in 1970 from PI. Thanks, it brings back such a very good memories to me.
31:53 "Oo" by Up Dharma Down
Bini Maloi's favorite song 🤙🏼
44:06 Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw
With an MTV that brought us all in-tears 🥲
Amazing content, love to see more of this with other countries music history! It’s always fun to discover the history and growth of music in other countries, really eye opening.
15:00 that's Sharon Cuneta 😇
29:13 that's Sandara 😁
Radio and television also were high in the 80s - variety shows, radio dramas, telenovelas, television sitcoms - all were incorporated to and with music.
That flowed smoothly through the 90s and 2000s - with bands, boybands (from matinee idols), esp with the emergence of MTV Asia in '92.
It’s like a show of how much you know OPM by now. So proud for real as someone who started watching when you were just starting ❤
33:35 that was Bugoy Drilon.freshly from abs Dream academy.and Yeng Constantino is the winner. Kel is not yet on the scene at that time.
OMGosh Waleska and Efra. So many of these songs from my childhood and my dad. Made my day, thank you!!!
This is very informative. I myself as a Filipino didn't know the fckng evolution of music here in the country. Thank you guys for bringing this up and for loving and embracing our music. Mabuhay kayo! 🎉🇵🇭
so amazed of you guys.. thank you for this.... so appreciate you two,,
"Los españoles nos jodieron los dos." 😂 Exactamente. 🥰

Randy santiago, ariel rivera, marco sison, julie vega, haji alejandro, rodel naval, vst & company, eraserheads, asin, basil valdez, smokey mountain., etc. ..look at the stories of these singers...interesting!
You have no idea how much I appreciate this so much! Thanks for this reaction!
I'm impressed with your OPM KB! I left the PH in the 80's so don't know much about the music culture until lately. Well done!
They already reacted to MYMP. Maybe they just forgot and also the clips were really quick and it had no overlay of the names of the artists.
1980s, they did not mention Kuh Ledesma... she gave Regine one of her first stage appearance and they have a duet, too
That was Sandara Park of 2NE1 in 2004 singing her "in or out" song. =)
You guys know more about the filipino music scene than I do hats off to you and your love for the music industry as a whole is phenomenal!!! Thank you for loving our music and culture!!!❤
34:20 Tanya Markova fav band with Disney. I miss MYMP with Juris
Muchas gracias guys for giving us these review of our music evolution through the years i enjoyed this episode of yours so lively & funny too🥰😄
Why did they not include Jay-R and Kyla's songs? They had a lot of great and beautiful songs in the early 2000, they were the ones who started to hit the RNB songs in their era here in the Philippines. They will not be called King and Queen of RNB if they're not.
sorry po
The lack of Hanggang Ngayon is surprising coz iirc it won an award on MTV.
32:12 hawak kamay by yeng
And that song became national anthem in the Philippines ❤
Yeng wrote so many hit songs during that era.
It's so cool to see you both so well versed not only with Filipino music and its history but also with the singers themselves. 😊
10:51 Halikana by maja salvador
She's an actress, queen of dancefloor also singer.
30:18 and this is the start of the jeje era😭😂 juskoo HAHAHHAHAHA nakakamiss although 2006 ako pinanganak
Yes it's compañero and compañera is also a term used here for companions.
this got me chillz man.. you both got most of the artist more than the average Pinoy Gen-Zs.. thats why I love you guys.. me as a 90's kid.. so proud of you! and yes 90's the year of the bands its a decade of banging..
20:54 was ez mil dad singing parting time at his younger age..
Up
Thanks Waleska and Efra for this podcast.
The best✨️
TJ monterde and champ Lui (Hale's Vocalists) are cousin's.skl☺️ though they have diff genre but love their musics 🎧🥁🎤🎸
Thank you for always appreciating Filipino talents. An OFW here enjoying your videos.
Dina Bonnevie was the girl who sang bakit ba ganyan, before sharon cuneta 1981
GEN Z don't know how we enjoy music of the 90's of OPM.. Golden era because of the diverse music were introduced back then by OPM artists
Even I'm Born in 2001 I still love the Old Songs and also New Songs. It's really good to hear that Music here in Our World are still Expanding Every Year and becoming Relevant to Our Life listening Every day. MUSIC IS LIFE ❤
Bro wdym we sing those shit all the time during our break time.
Jay-r and Kyla were the hype in the 2000s not the 2010s they were everywhere, they were regulars in SOP
What amazes me nore is that you guys know our pinoy artists and some of their story and era. Thank u for liking and loving our pinoy songs.
Jay R and Kyla is really a big thing especially year 2004-2015 also Jaya
I really appreciate you guys. You know more about Filipino artists and music than most Filipinos today. I've been watching your videos since 2019 or 2020, I guess.
you're lucky that enrile did not become a singer.. maybe you'll get shocked that he sang 1800's and is still singing up to now 😅
😂
😂😂😂
Humbled and honored. ❤❤💐💐🙏🙏
Did you know that TALA by SG was written by the same person who wrote Karera of BINI and three more?
It's really nice knowing that you appreciate our music. I would love for the two of you coming here to the Philippines and meet the artist personally. I bet they would love to meet with you guys.
When efra knows a lot of names my heart is overwhelm❤ your memory is sharp dude 👍 this shows how you guys loved the ph ( i mean i know ever since the first time i watched your reaction video) looking forward to more rv of yours digging different genre's ❤
