    You might want to have a piece of heavy wall 1 1/2" square tubing on hand to slide across your squeeze chute just behind the cow or steer. If you have a critter that wants to fight backwards, this stops that. They can't back up at all.

    • @ronniejenkins4633
      @ronniejenkins4633 3 роки тому +1

      That's a good idea because they will back up and if it's wide enough they will turn around.

      @@ronniejenkins4633 The squeeze chute will keep them from turning around but the head gate will not keep them from fighting backwards. The bar snuggly behind their butt will.

      His cows are so tame and gentle because he never treats them like cows that they will all line right up and walk thru it standing perfectly still when he is banding their nuts and giving them earrings then they will walk calmly out of the shoot and back to the pasture they will probably even tell him thanks on the way

    Awesome. The first SRF video I came across was the pig butchering and salt curing video at your dads. Anticipated a follow up on how the ham turned out that was hung but you had great stuff to keep me occupied. I doubt I’ve seen every video but darn near 99%. I’m forgetful at pounding the like button because I watch through my TV and it takes a few steps to get to the like button and if your not fast enough it goes to the next video. I just wanted to say thank you for creating such great videos that are informative and void of just fill in content. The world needs more Stoney Ridge Farmers and Jason Rhodes, The Fit Farmer and My Wyoming Life as well as countless others. We can’t forget to mention Joel Saladin and Polyface Farm. Thank you for being a steward of the land and this knowledge and information. I pray that your dream expands beyond anything you can imagine. If I get your way I’d like to visit and meet you in person. My work schedule keeps me busy so I’m sure it won’t be soon enough but until then I’ll continue to enjoy your knowledge and great videos through here. I’ll visit the merchant store so I can spread the SRF following in my area. Thank you again. Stew from the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Telluride Colorado.

    Is there a gate or catch from the tub area to the lane? If not your tub and lane would have to be totally empty before reloading the tub and have a lot of backing up problems.

    Josh,
    Attractive system good luck on operation; have you any plan as of yet on which bovine units you will subjugate to process; and when? I hope all that goes well you certainly have put in the ground - leg and lots of hard work looking out your cattle, to give them a nice drink close by their favorite places; my Father owns the cattle on a thousand hills. . . . .
    I be happy to have a bunch of little doggies; if i do very well I would like a herd of Scottish highland cattle and that will suit me well. excellent beef makeup nice cattle check out their body make up. Hey I worked on a fence repair for Dept of agriculture and fisheries woman's ranch. I was pleasantly surprised how nice these cattle even bulls were, yeah they had to see smell me get fed by me, but after a bit, I could work inside fence line doing trespassers fencing repairs and the bulls would come right up to me, but not hurt me. They came up to interact to get a touch or a sniff or to be scratched or pat, to me this was very surprising too. For a bull that definitely has large offensive horns these were so gentle and inquisitive and just wanted a hand full of grass they couldn't reach or a ear scratch a head rub. I hope your Angus cattle goes as well. Ha ha I do miss the cowboys YEAH like all the movies we loved as a kid though, but you're just one of those singing to those old doggies now, are you not? That be a purdy picture you just sing to your sweetheart cow or your your young calves put them in that enclosure, coral Coral, ha call it a dinner date make it a welcoming oh this is going to be good. Oh I don't know, maybe? Alfalfa or some sweet grain just a fun time what's that guy in Wyoming called when he throws out the alfalfa nuggets and taste the new mom cattle for the animal he wants to influence to come on over be gentle enjoy some good food. I'd like to see that vlog maybe some classical music in the background a black tie and suit for fun make light of it some funny filming oh Betsy your soo purdy you got the biggest brown eyes a wide eye too close up, funny but fun make is laugh but be the straight man. Punch me a like, now you-all leave me a comment if you'd like to see a me singing to the favorite cow or a group of calves , come on y'all just let me know, ham it up a table white cloth over it just walk in quite natural I think it be a hoot. Or not.

  • @justinray464

    You need to change the entrance to the sweep gate with an alley or pen otherwise it really will not work. Also cattle don’t like straight alley ways, always curve will flow much better. Last word of wisdom chain the side exit of chute or you will get someone hurt when it pops open on accident.

  • @bigcountryhandle

    What panels do you use in this ?

  • @steveadams4009
    @steveadams4009 3 роки тому

    It would be very very difficult to preg check cattle with the chute that you have however they make what's called a palpation cage which sets between the squeeze chute and the alleyway.

    • @StoneyRidgeFarmer
      @StoneyRidgeFarmer  3 роки тому
