    When I was in the navy on a deployment as an Aviation Machinist mate we did around 30 transits of the Strait of Hormuz in 2013 and those damn boats would always head straight at the destroyer with small arms. It was stressful man, they would always cut away at the last second and we only had to shoot flares at them one time from the helo, but man they really were trying hard to get us to fire at them, luckily they never came within the range that we would be required to take action, it was crazy. Don’t miss that deployment

    Just watched Ward Carroll’s channel reporting on this. He had credible inside information that three of the four boats were sunk with hellfire missiles from a single US helicopter. The fourth boat got out of range and escaped.

    Right, these were crew serve machine guns, meaning they're high caliber guns manned by three. One of the copters has been reported by the BBC as an SH-60R, that is capable of firing torpedos and Hellfire missiles, as well as crew serve guns of their own.

    Well-informed. By the way, it's called "al-Hodeidah," the port city where they operate from in Yemen.

    Does fighter pilots listen to music while in the air? If so when, what scenario(s) and what do you listen to?

    Why are government is afraid of these people is beyond me. Why do they let them do this and get away with almost all the time. Piracy and terrorism should be ACTIVELY CONFRONTED, not tolerated.

    Why get close enough for the .50 cal when you have four Hellfire missiles aboard? The fast boats have heavy machine guns too.

    Honestly escalation in Yemen isn't going to be unwanted by the regional powers. The Saudis have been dealing with them for some time and wanted to get rid of them, the Israelis don't need a mention, the UAE also have a problem with them and Egypt is indifferent. Iran is the only sponsor of it but when push comes to shove and the USAF starts carpet bombing folks, I don't think the Iranians would get involve.

    also the attacks arent just against US ships, our (danish) merchant vessel also got attacked, they are striking anyone who are perceived to be on "israels side" - im one minute in so im not sure if you cover this, but id just state it real quick.
    We (Denmark) are also sending a fregate to the red sea to protect our vessels in cooperation with our american allies.

      Update, ah i see you are mentioning Mærsk - our maritime company - haha.

    • @corellonable
      @corellonable 4 місяці тому

      the latest i heard on the news was that Mærsk has redirected their traffic around Africa's Horn instead to avoid the attacks. Its more expensive, but security is prioritised.

      I’m thinking the shipments should travel in a group with VERY heavy security
      For example some destroyers with chain guns and helicopters

    • @corellonable
      @corellonable 4 місяці тому

      @@jasonm106 I had a brief career as a sailor (although a different company than Mærsk) so maybe its a little more personal to me but if the Houthis are actively harming commercial sailing I'd be fine with pulverizing any assets they have, but yes - and other countries like Egypt are economically hurt as well, as they need the Suez revenue to pay for IMF debt payments, which they currently struggle with a lot.

    As a Navy combat Veteran, I stand with our Navy/Marines. However, John Kirby spent to much time in an air conditioned office to garner any respect from me. He’s an extension of Biden’s failures. Go Navy.
