You sure because Zhang threw 32 more punches and had 5 takedowns. You aren’t biased as most but there is no way you can score that fight for Rose. She needed a 10-8 or a finish by the 4th round

@@duncanself5111 a lot of it is still the country vs country thing. Especially with the events of the last couple of years (I think you probably know what I’m talking about). The fans don’t really hate weili, it’s mostly because she’s Chinese and there’s constant turmoil with them now, and she basically represents them on this big stage. For the most part Chinese and all Asians alike are generally pretty respectful as I’ve gotten to know in my 14 years living here in the Bay Area.
Because UFC crowds are often a majority of faux-Patriot meatheads who think Chinese people are our enemies or something. It's a sad commentary on our country and why most civilized nations look down on us. Weili is great and so respectful to her opponents. Not to mention, she fought well. She should be given her props, not booed

@@MrBadintentionss well it''s not the first time a judge scored the cards as if he was looking at a whole another fight. also you CAN argue that she was robbed (even though personally I think it's VERY close but I give it for rose) and frankly if they fought another time, Zhang weili would destroy rose and it wouldn't look pretty, she is way stronger and technically they are very close, rose won by keeping her opponent away barely being able to float to the surface.
so I guess it's good for rose as now she wouldn't have to do a back to back trilogy with weili as the defenses is just gonna get bigger.

Rose clearly won 1,4,5 and ended round 2 on top and landing ground and pound so I can see a judge giving the nod to the champ in that second round. But either way I had Rose without a doubt 3-2 and one thing is for sure. Rose is better than Weili and is the better fighter, credit to both women.

@Damio Homero Europe has bred championship mma fighters for years my dude, a polish champion was only ever inevitable. While I'm sure Asia is the same way, there hasn't been a whole lot of asian fighters that are championship level in the UFC. On the other hand, ONE championship has bundles and bundles of asian talent that is championship level. Honestly, I think the UFC and ONE could both benefit from a sort of roster trade on a larger scale. Like how the WWE has a draft to see what promotion you go to next. I would enjoy someone from UFC fighting someone from ONE besides just Demetrius Johnson and Eddie Alvarez

Almost everyone was saying rose needed a knockout to win going into round 5. She didn’t get it, but now all of a sudden she won 3 rounds? When did the narrative change? The stats don’t back the score. Weill had more strikes, more significant strikes, higher strike percentage, 5 takedowns against 1, was aggressive throughout. Better top control. On top of that someone judged it 49-46 for rose? That is failure at that position at best, bias more likely. Robbery.

What stats are you looking at? Rose has higher Sign. strikes and higher head strikes, plus 7m control time and 2/2 takedown. She dominated the R5 and last round always has more weight. Now even if you did not watch the fight, these stats tell who won.

I had it 2-2 just like the commentators after the 4th round and Rose won the 5th. Close fight that could have gone the other way and even a draw, but definitely not a robbery.

I don’t know man. This fight was weird. The game plan approach from both fighters and the horrible scoring from the judges just didn’t add up. Both fighters didn’t perform to the best of their ability. Rose takedowns were good but Weili seemed to be more active trying to get Rose off of her. However, I think those takedowns were the key to victory.

Rewatch the second round. Weili actually didn't even knocked rose down, she went off balance.
Weili took her down, but did no effective striking. Rose did more effective striking prior to getting taking down. And then eventually takes Weili down herself and land better ground and pound.
That last judge needs fired, he could've ruined this fight and Usman and Colby with that dumb scoring

It was a title fight hence, in order to be the champ, Weili should have completely dominated Rose. Split decision mean it was a close fight. Hence, Rose' winning and retaining her title was just right. Props to both fighters for the great immediate rematch.
Looking forward to NAMAJUNAS V. ESPARZA. Though was already the SW GOAT, i think that will seal her reign

Zhang and Rose in SW are to Holloway Volk in FW and Adesanya Whittaker in MW. The two best and most talented fighters in the division imo. This was the closest rematch in Rose’s career and honestly, it could’ve gone either way (3-2 Zhang but it might be bc Im a bigger fan of her). Honestly this and JJ vs Weili are really good arguments for giving more 10-10 rounds. I think a draw might be the best way to represent the result.

We all know why Zhang lost. It has nothing to do with stats. It is because of nationality. Zhang would've lost either way unless she scores a knockout. Just look at the end of the interview. Zhang was speaking, but they cut it and showed rose. If that is not bias, I don't know what is. One of the judges definitely F Zhang over with the dumb decision.
If anything I was more worried about ZHang getting the nod because of the china market man.
Look I'm not denying that could be a factor, especially with one judge giving a 49-46 which was impossible given how close the fight was. However, Rose is the defending champ. She tied the 2nd round and won the 4th and 5th - they're called the Championship rounds for a reason. You have to BEAT the champ to take the belt. Rose deserved to keep her title - however, I will say the 49-46 scorecard needs a lot of investigation as that is not even close to fair.

My definition of beat is based on the scoring. But I don’t think it’s that controversial to say that in a very close fight, where you can barely separate the fighters on score, the champion usually retains their belt. Plenty of other examples of this eg Jones v Reyes.
Just reflects the reality that a draw is a very poor outcome for both fighters and for the sport, so often if it’s a draw they’ll defer to the champ.

Rose won without any sound. More shots landed, more heavy shots, reversed a takedown defended sub attempts, dominated at the end of round 4 the whole of round 5, also she was piecing weili up in the 3rd until she got rocked. Weili put on a great performance but Rose definitely edged it out.

Great night. Wow. Both the championship fights were damn close but quite fun to watch.
The right fighter won, but DAMN 49-46 is insane.
Zhang won 1 & 3, Rose won 4-5. It's the 2nd round that's really close.

When the official fight stats drop i recommend everyone go check the the results of the first 3 round. Weili landed more sig strikes and physically wobbled rose more frequently tho rose did stun weili at times as well, but being stunned and wobbled are different one being more severe. P.s. at no point was weili dropped via strikes. If you rewatch the fight it was a slip. The front kick did not connect. The commentary team reviewed the footage live and stated as much.

Comes down to the second round score wise. Scores aside, Rose had her figured out by the end of the fight. I would have been a bit put off seeing Zhang get her hand raised when she got handled for 10 minutes straight in the last 2.
I think you need to have your eyes checked a single round is only 5 minutes not 10.

And your example isn't great bc colby allowed the fight to get away from him for too long and left himself too little time. Rose and Zhang was close for the first three and then Rose pulled away.
