A very important role I think you missed in the video, which is also my profession, are train mechanics/repair mechanics. Making sure the train is in good functioning order and fixing failures, bugs, broken parts, doing other repairs when they appear, or doing regular maintenence on trains.

As a train driver, I love that you're highlighting how many different people it actually takes to make trains work, preferably as reliably as possible. I'm just one small part of a huge and complex operation.
One of my favourite things about my job is something as simple as the view. You certainly won't find many office jobs, that can compete with what I see every day.

I work as a locomotive driver 🚆 in Bulgaria. I constantly encourage young people for this profession, although it is difficult, full of many challenges and not so well paid. This is my passion, hobby and profession in one. ❤

In the uk, a dispatcher is confined to the station, ensuring safe and on time dispatch, whereas someone who controls a section of line tends to be known as a signaller

A great video, some other points of interest:
Safety Department - they work with the various departments to produce safety information and/or investigations and check various parts/condition of the infrastructure.
Training Department - Educates and assesses the various job positions.
Security Department - patrolling and protecting the rail reserve, stations and trains.
I have have previously been a Train Conductor, Train Driver, Transport Safety Team Member, On the Job Trainer/Assessor and OCC Controller. I messed up unfortunately and lost my job, I hope to return to the industry one day, I cannot get the love of it out of me.
As an interesting story, one night I received permission to go out with the track maintenance staff, it was so cool to see them in action and identifying faults/track issues and the way the train / wheels behaved BY EYESIGHT.

Working as Train Dispatcher for 300 km and 30 stations in section I has responsibility for.
By drawing a line on chart in paper that represents movement of trains at the time. And give order to station master via control telephone.
Recently entire section I work began to use double tracks and train is no needed to wait and let another to go pass anymore. And it's much easier.

Did you get a chance to watch our video on the construction of the railway timetable? If not, we highly recommend it, as it might be right up your alley given your work. You'll probably enjoy it!

That's wonderful to hear! It's always inspiring to see someone fulfilling their childhood dreams. Coincidentally, two of us are high school graduates train dispatchers, while the third one in our group is also a train driver. However, our career paths have taken a different turn, and now we're more involved in consulting, regulatory, and engineering work within the railway industry. It's a different track, but the love for trains connects us all.

Then there is the whole supply chain, design, development and manufacturing of everything used on the railways. The trains themselves of course, but also the signaling and safety systems, the rails, station equipment etc. I work as a software engineer for a comany that develops and manufactures signaling equipment, like the ETCS.

That is interesting, when will new Coradia trains start running?

    • @kokoman6941
      @kokoman6941 Рік тому

The alstom coradia stream electric with 6 cars instead of the 4 car or 3 car units
The ARF (autoritatea pentru reforma feroviară) or the railway reform authority bought 37 of them and the first train was delivered to ARF
The trains will be operated by the national state railway:CFR călători on various routes to big cities
The first train is at the Grivița depot because the train made a short circuit in the first 10 seconds of the tests.
But a new electrical installation will come from Poland
The rest of the 36 trains will come from july until all of the trains will be delivered to ARF
The first train will start running from i think february.

And these people are actually civilized. After a couple of years of not working in Duluth Minnesota I stayed with an aunt and partied/job hunted in a little town in Iowa. It was over a hundred degrees Fahrenheit and the only place that had air conditioning that was interested in my Billy Bob Thornton look-alike smart ass was the RR. I might have went insane without them that day.
