  • How the Spline Parameter node can be used to control the scale of objects instanced on a curve. It's an awesome feature with some tricks that allow you to make it act in the way you want.
    NOTE: Using the Spline Length node will not create this tapering shape but instead should change the size of all of the instances based on the overall spline length.

    You may want to also look at the Curve to Points node closely, it provides the tangent for each point, but also it provides the rotation you need to instance something aligned to the curve at that point without any maths.

    Another awesome bite-sized explanation geometry nodes video, ΛₒV! Slowly but surely, thanks to videos like this, I am starting to piece together how things work (albeit slowly)! The rabbit hole can go quite deep in this area of Blender, and clearly this will require a lot of time and patience / practice to really get the hang of it! But every little bit helps! Thanks for sharing!

      Oh the rabbit hole seems to reach down to the Earth's core at this point. Having seen what some people do with geonodes is incredible but seems to require an absolutely impossible (at least to me) way of thinking.

    im using blender 3.6 at 4:53, I copy the exact scaling nodes here: spline parameter fac into combine xyz on all 3 inputs, output to scale of the instance on points nodes. all the objects then disappear. anyone else experience this?

      @_e8a Have you tried changing any elements very slightly? Sometimes that will work. If it doesnt I would guess it's something to do with it being an older version of Blender and they have improved upon Geonodes to make them more stable/functional.
      Hopefully someone else can reply if they have seen the same issue.

    When I created a bezier curve the normals didn't vary in size. Am I missing a step?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  8 місяців тому

      Do you mean the normals or the handles? Could you refer me to which bit of the video you're talking about?

    • @IrocZIV
      @IrocZIV 8 місяців тому

      @@ArtisansofVaul I was referring to the arrows that represent the normals of the curve, as they display differently for me. I don't think that should matter, as you were not actually using normals to calculate anything.
      Thanks for the response though 😉

      @IrocZIV Ah, they shouldn't vary in size in most instances so what you have got is fine.

      You might need to give me more detail on the issue than that I'm afraid.
