  • Tuhon Jesse Cabuyadao breaks down how they approach knife training ‪@CombatWarriorAcademy‬ and Pekiti Tirsia Kali. The PAYONG translates to "umbrella," a movement used in some systems. After learning the 3 Payong knife cuts, practitioners will implement it into the Sabayan drill.

    Good explanation on breaking the rhythm during the drill. A lot of people freeze up when the pattern is broken, but eventually you want to get to the point where adjust on the fly without stopping.

      It's normal to have that reaction, it's similar when people get stuck into a routine at work or life, when a curve ball happens they sometimes cannot pivot and adapt with something they're not accustomed to.

    Great continuation and connecting it to the last video with the Sabayan drill. Those are nice looking trainers too. Where do you get them?

      The trainers are from our very own Tuhon Mick of PTK KATIPUNAN PILIPINAS!!!

      Every drill has a progression and translation to other movements/techniques or drills.

    Great drill! Quick question on Payong 1...and I know this takes you out of the drill, but in a real situation rather than checking his hand what are your thoughts on actually striking it after you make your cut as to send it far to his outside as to disrupt him?

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  Рік тому

      That's a good question, in terms of disrupting the pattern, if it works to your advantage, why not.

      It's difficult when you don't have an instructor or another person to train with. Video/online training is supplemental, and is in no way a replacement for In person training and instruction.

    When blocking a thrust with your palm what are the chances of injuring your fingers in a real fight

    • @FMAPulse
      @FMAPulse  Рік тому +1

      Good question. Honestly, nobody comes out of a fight unscathed. There are risks with any physical confrontation.

    I dont think people will use this self defense to prevent him from stabbing in real street situation.

      That's why it's called a drill to build coordination and footwork.

      There is no self defense in PKT only counter offenses

    THAT IS A FANTASY TECHINIQUE, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU LET GO OF THE ARM ONCE YOU GOT IT,

    • @blk.wing_
      @blk.wing_ Рік тому

      In realistic application, you do not let go of the arm. This is a drill to train attributes and attack recognition; the goals of a drill are quite different from the former.

      Because you want to address the other attackers by engaging them or escaping. The mentality of bladed arts isn't one on one. You latch on too long to one person and you get tunnel vision, you get stabbed in the back by some other attacker. Just like training to scan the room after shooting your gun for other threats.
